Call me crazy but I declined BC today at my 6 week pp appt. I think I'd actually like to have baby #2 next Feb., which puts me less than the recommended 18 months. Dh and I both have simbings only 11 months from us.

@FaithFertility: there is a LC at our ped's office, that's who I saw

@whenoceansrise: I pump once a day after feeding and have been getting 1-2oz from each side. I just started recently so waiting for my supply to hopefully increase. Ideally I want to pump in the morning but sometimes I'm alone and can't.

@josina: You're not crazy! I plan on not getting on BC either! We had such a hard time TTC G that I am not putting that in my body again, I think my body went wacky!
We "plan" on NTNP around 10 months!

Sounds like lots of good LC visits, great job mama's. K had a less than stellar night and the only way I could get her to sleep (after trying for over 2 hours) was laying in bed next to me. For a good part of the day, that was all she wanted was to be on me.
Fortunately, late afternoon proved to be "better". She played on her mat for awhile and is currently content in her swing. I managed to get dinner fully cooked (although, it's done a little early).
I need to finish her daycare forms tonight so DH can drop them off tomorrow. My leave is ending too quickly.
Unfortunately, it's going to be a rough weekend too since DH has to work all day Saturday. That means I have the two girls all day and it's going to be cold. I really wanted to get a few "me" things done before returning to work (hair, pedicure, eye exam, new glasses), but I guess those will all have to wait.
I did the un-official weigh yesterday and K seems to be just over 11 pounds. Some of her 3 month clothes are starting to get snug lengthwise.

@josina: I don't think you're crazy! The only reason I was aiming for 15+ months with my two is because I wanted to ensure I could take another 12 weeks off work. 15 months didn't happen though because my period didn't return until 9.5 months, and then it took 3 LONG cycles to get pregnant again!
Logan has been sleeping ALL DAY! I'm so nervous about tonight!!! I'm hoping he's just been sleeping because of the growth spurt...
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
Should I wake him to eat? He's gone 3 hours between feeds all day and isn't cluster feeding... yet. I'm worried he'll be doing that in the middle of the night now... gahhh, babies are so unpredictable!!

@josina: have you tried a bigger shield? You tube how the fit should be.

@Adira: great appt! Don't wake him. Never wake them!

Ryan has his first cold. It's heartbreaking. He is all stuffed up and sneezing some. Stupid January.

I have no idea if we are done having kids or not. We were in the 2-3 camp but I have had 2 difficult pregnancies. Would want to decide by later this year. I think I will just go on the mini pill for now while BF.

@winniebee: so sorry about the cold. that is heartbreaking Hope he feels better soon!

We've always hoped for 3 kids but we're definitely not in any hurry for #3. Hence, why I begged my OB to do the mirena at my 6 week pp appointment yesterday - so I'm all set for now!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@winniebee: haha, I didn't! He ended up waking up at 8:00 on his own and now he's back to sleep again.
Sorry to hear about Ryan's cold! Poor babies. This is a rough time of year to have a baby!

I have NO idea what to do about BC and my 6 wk pp spot is next week! As much as I might want 2 under 2 I think I want a 2-3 year gap, more towards the 3...
nectarine / 2210 posts
@whenoceansrise: I just do it once a day, and try for around 10:30, but it's normally closer to 12

Ugh, I have no idea what we're going to do for birth control. I want to do something permanent because we're two and through, but I'm also nervous about doing something permanent RIGHT NOW. I think I'll probably get an IUD for now, though I really don't want to be on hormones... ugh.
pomegranate / 3973 posts
@winniebee: based on the diagrams that came with the pump, both the 24 mm and 21 mm are too big.
For those that didn't get on BC pp... Did you use condoms or ntnp? Ideally I'd just ntnp and breast feeding wod take care of it for a few months at least.
nectarine / 2210 posts
@josina: that's what I'm hoping for, ntnp and breast feeding, and then start trying at the end of the year or so. I just don't really want to start putting hormones in my body again.

Thank you ladies for your responses regarding pumping! I plan on starting tomorrow morning!
As for birth control, I don't know! I don't want to be on the pill and right now I think I want to wait a couple of years before ttc but I could change my mind.
i'll be glad when this spitting up phase is over. So tired of having to change both me and Micah multiple times a day plus worrying if he's okay.
@winniebee: aww I'm sorry about his cold. Hoping he feels better soon!
nectarine / 2053 posts
@josina: as much as I hate condoms, that may be what we will have to do.
nectarine / 2631 posts
@Adira: I scheduled my IUD appt already! We are in the same boat- 2 and through!
@winniebee: emily has a cold too!! I feel so abd for her- she jus keeps sneezing and coughing.
I hate the idea of the nosefrida- but am seriously considering ordering one right now from Amazon for 1 day delivery! Do they really work that well?! Nothing is going to get in my mouth right? Do I need DH to help me do it?
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@cheert16: The NoseFrida is amazing!! Nothing will get in your mouth and it's easy to use and works awesome! I've used it on Logan already. I need help using it on Xander because he's big and strong and fights it, butter Hubs has done it on Xander without help. And you definitely won't need help to use it on E.

@whenoceansrise: The spitting up phase....oh man. My guy is 8 weeks and we go through so many outfits and burp cloths each day! Ugh. Also, I'm doing an IUD-the Skyla, which has three years of protection. I figure we will definitely be TTC before then unless something insane happens, and if for whatever reason we aren't, I can get another one. I hated all the hormones on the pill, and my OB said the hormone impact on your system is 1/30th via IUD as it was with the pill (which is systemic). He might have been being hyperbolic, but his point was that it's nowhere near as impactful on your whole body! I hated that BC pills suppressed ovulation, and I love that the IUD doesn't. We'll see how I like it!
N had his 2-month-old shots today (he turns two months on Monday!). He only screamed for a minute, but has been super fussy all evening. Poor baby:-(. Also, hubby is out of town on business so I'm solo-parenting....poor me!
nectarine / 2028 posts
@BandDmommy: NTNP....wow!!! Even though I definitely want a second, my husband is still warming up to the idea, so it will be a while for us. Although I think we'd both pass out to get a BFP while still in the newborn phase! It will be fun to hear when you get that surprise BFP!!!
nectarine / 2028 posts
@Adira: Like I said above, according to my OB, the hormones in the Mirena/Skyla are super low compared to traditional BC. It's just in your uterus, so super localized compared to a pill that runs through your whole body. Rather than suppressing ovulation, it's just dealing with your lining I believe? @Lilyofthewest wrote an awesome, fabulous, and very thorough detail of various IUDs and their pros/cons on my wall that you should check out! You also could do the copper IUD which is 10 years of protection and zero hormones...
pomegranate / 3973 posts
@ChiCalGoBee: aww. Sorry you are solo after his shots. I'm dreading his 2 month check up for that reason, poor baby. Dh could've been stuck out of town the week of E's shots for training, but luckily he got it push it back to Feb.
nectarine / 2028 posts
@josina: Thank you! Yeah, he had a fussy evening, but is asleep now and I'm hoping that he "sleeps off" most of the pain. I felt so awful during-he's a horrible napper and actually had fallen asleep on the exam table, so it doubly sucked to wake him up in that way! BTW-I use Motherlove cream on the inside of the nipple shields when I pump, and it really makes a difference to me I have no pain when I pump if the parts are covered in that stuff. It's great!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@ChiCalGoBee: Thanks for that info! I hadn't really thought about it before, but it definitely makes sense that something localized would be less hormones. I'll have to talk to my doctor about it next week at my six week follow up.

We just had our longest stretch of sleep ever! She are at 7 and just now, 7 hours later , at 2. So awesome!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Miss Ariel: That's amazing!! I'm jealous. How old is she? I want a long stretch like that.
nectarine / 2210 posts
@Adira: only 4 weeks! Although my body is paying for it at this 530 feeding since I'm literally dripping milk everywhere. Maybe I need to start pumping in the middle of the night too...
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Miss Ariel: Oh wow, that's awesome. I hope she keeps doing long stretches for you. You must've been so engorged though!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@Miss Ariel: that is so nice!
K gave me 4 for the initial, but then 2 and 2 after.
I missed pumping yesterday bc I was alone most day and by the time I put her down it's too close to next feeding to pump!
I just know I do not want any BC that can even potentially mess with my supply bc I def don't have a lot! If that means condom then maybe we will just have to deal with it.

We took permanent measures. It was an easy decision for me, I was having a c-section so a tubal ligation is easy peasy. And given my age (40) and our financial situation, we knew two was our limit.
After C, I had a Mirena. It also wasn't a good choice for me but I read many stories of it's awesomeness. One of my best friends and my OB both had glorious stories. Unfortunately for me it was a daily spotting routine that I grew very tired of.

And today is my official pity party. It's my last day of maternity leave. Monday K will be in daycare. I feel more emotional about it this time around than I did the first time. I'm incredibly nervous about her immune system and all those daycare germs. I probably shouldn't be so nervous, all in all C did great with daycare germs and was probably sick less than most.
I vowed to do a trial run of us all getting ready in the morning this week - it didn't happen. I feel more tired now than three weeks ago.
And I admitted to myself finally last night that other than the snuggles I really don't enjoy this stage. I really yearn for K to be about 6 months. I know every age/stage has it's challenges and rewards. I'll probably look back and miss this stage, but the uncertainty and lack of predictability is so hard for me.
So today, I'll shed some tears and have my own little pity party in preparation for Monday.
