@whenoceansrise: I hope your day is going better and that you enjoyed your coffee! It's helpful to appreciate the little things

@MamaG: Thanks for your honesty! I WOH part time, but I think those very long days away allow me to appreciate my time with my kids even more. Every mama and every family is different and it's nice when you can find what works for you!

@MamaG: Agree that every family is different! Happy that you know and are doing what works best for your family!

@josina: so happy for you! Hoping my time will come sometime before age 1. Ha!
I don't clean gums. Started brushing when he had a tooth!
I SAH right now. It's sort of circumstantial. I'm a lawyer and had a law firm job and did return to work after T. It was hard and there were good days and bad days. but my husband took a surgery fellowship in summer 2013 that brought us cross country so I started staying home then and when we moved back this summer I was pregnant. I applied for admission in our new state but am not sure of my plans. Working and staying home both have benefits. One thing I miss is having time during the day where I only have to account for myself. And feeling like I was really good at something (ie my job). It's not like my kids and husband are applauding me all day long lol. But I hated the harried feeling of rushing out to daycare and rushing home after work. It was also easier with an infant than I think it would be with a toddler because now we have family dinner wtc. But if and when I return it will be to a much less stressful environment and it will be part time and....because I want to and not for money. My husband finally makes a salary where it's not an issue anymore (though of course extra money is always helpful).

Ideally I would work part time alongside DH, and rest of the time SAH. SAH to me is def scary.. The sweet part of course is being with DD everyday and not missing anything but it does drive me nuts sometimes!

I've done a little bit of everything re: work after kids. After having K, I WFH full-time from ages 3-6 months. Then WOH part-time from 6-11 months. Then WOH full-time (but with option to WFH if/when I needed) from 11months-2years. Then I started SAH under a similar circumstance to @winniebee -- we moved across the country for a year to a remote place where trying to work didn't really make sense. Plus I was pregnant and due about halfway thru our year.
I was never a girl who thought I would like SAH or really even wanted to. But I'm enjoying it more than I thought, and it definitely has its perks when DH works long, crazy, inflexible hours. Part of my happiness with SAH is just from having more time/less stress to do the stuff I need and want to do. But each situation has its good and bad.
That being said, I may explore jobs when we get settled in our new (relatively permanent) location this fall. But it will have to be something I really enjoy, since any $$ I make will likely be a small small percentage of our total income.

@winniebee: I'm still not going to get excited that this lasts! But fingers crossed. Hope the same for you too!!
I always used to say I could never be a SAHM, but then being off for 7 weeks with baby I wanted nothing more. Now being back in the swing of things I'm okay, but can definitely see both sides. I imagine it will get harder to come back with each addt'l child (hoping for 2 more), especially when weighing in the addt'l daycare expenses.
I just told dh the other day when we win the lottery I will be a SAHM and we will have LOTS of babies.

So I just ordered some infant Tylenol in anticipation of her 2 mo shots on Friday..
I also ordered some gas drops and vapor rub; I'm hoping that will help her sleep better. I'm assuming she cries due to has bc she sleeps better on her tummy and she farts multiple times in her sleep
As for the vapor rub, she seems so phlemy and congested in the early morning hours so I'm hoping that will help to prolong her sleep too.
Any moms have floor seats? I'm thinking about ordering one soon. Ugh this kid has too much gear! I'm pretty much packing away the rock and play till the next kid.

@winniebee: nope! still interviewing. And our potential options are all over the place so it might be hard to compare / decide. I'm hoping we have it figured out by mid-March?

@josina: Yay for sleep!!
@whenoceansrise: I'm soooo not looking forward to returning to work... It's good Micah is doing well with your grandmother though.
@snowjewelz: Boo! Sorry to hear about your rough night.
@BandDmommy: Yes, he's super congested. He seems mostly okay during the day, but at night, not so much. I should've used the NoseFrida on him sooner though... maybe then we both would've gotten more sleep.
@MamaG: I'm not SAH material either! I definitely can be more present with my kids when I'm not around then 24/7, haha.
So far I don't think Logan's gotten my sore throat. He's been nursing just fine today, so fingers crossed he doesn't get it! And I'm already starting to feel better, so at least whatever this is, it's not lasting long!

@josina: haahah that is our goal too..... we play lotto weekly for that reason

@snowjewelz: What is a floor seat?
Also good idea to have the Tylenol on hand!!!
I will get some too!

My mom stopped by earlier today to hang out, and just called me to see if she can swing by again....I didn't say no but said the babe just went down for a nap..... and she got all snippy..... I mean I am sorry, but she hasn't slept all day.....

We are here at the doc waiting on shots. K is snoozing in her seat, she's in for a rude awakening. I also grabbed Tylenol a few weeks ago. We were delayed on shots because of her RSV.

@FaithFertility: I suddenly realized I have nothing for the baby and with the snow storms season I just want to have all her meds ready!
I'm considering looking for a used this once she can sit up more..

@FaithFertility: haha my mom probably wouldn't have even called first- she'd just show up!

@snowjewelz: we have a bumbo I left over from C. C barely used it because her legs were too chunky.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@winniebee: @MamaG: when do they start sitting in it? Do you get s lot of use out of it?
pomelo / 5298 posts
@snowjewelz: we got very little use. By the time we decided to use it her thighs were too thick. I'm going to try k in it soon. She loves to sit.
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@snowjewelz: I sat my first in it at 8w but he had great head control. I will start sitting Ryan in it whenever I think of it. He's got great head control at 8w as well.

Ugh girls, my freezer isn't big enough for all my milk. It's rapidly filling up! Which is good because it's nice to have a big stash, but it's bad because I don't know what I'm going to do with the next few weeks of milk that I pump...
pomelo / 5298 posts
@Adira: Buy another freezer? We bought a small chest freezer before K was born in case I had this problem (yah, I gave up with BF at 4 weeks) and because our side by side freezer just isn't big enough for us. It was less than $200 at Home Depot with free delivery.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@MamaG: I was going to do that actually and even found one that I liked, but I don't have anywhere to put it! I want to keep it in the basement, but it says it needs a dedicated outlet and our basement apparently only has two outlets and they are both in use already.
pomelo / 5298 posts
@Adira: Garage? I can't believe your basement only has two outlets, that's silliness (or poor planning on someone's part). We are in Texas, with no basement. Our options were garage or laundry room. It's now in my laundry room. It's convenient, and had I realized they were so inexpensive, I think we would have bought one much sooner.

Ryan was pretty hungry yesterday and I really wanted to see if topping him off before bed helped him sleep longer. I fed him at 645 and he took another 2.5 oz at 815 and then slept 9-1! That's amazing for us. He didn't spit up after the bottle but did have reflux symptoms (arching, fussing, wtc). I always said I wanted him to have a bed time bottle so that anyone could put him to sleep and maybe now is a good time to start. While he was eating and burping I pumped 5 more oz and took a shower. Pretty good.

@winniebee: awesome! I love that you are finding successes in the midst of your sleep and reflux struggles.

I've actually stopped pumping for now. Our freezer is stuffed and I have yet to use anything I pumped. I'm trying really hard to keep D at the breast so I can keep my supply up. I'm scared of it dropping.
eggplant / 11861 posts
Gahhhhhhh I need to pump more, I have no excuse other than being lazy!!!!!
I want to start giving her a bottle at bed time too every now and then....she adapts to things well!
We seem to be coming out of our spurt, and she is back to her semi schedule.
pomelo / 5298 posts
@BandDmommy: She did great. She was awake after her shots for about an hour. Then she was done. I woke her after about 4 hours to give her a bottle. She slept through til about 6:00 this morning. Never felt warm and wasn't really cranky. I think we got lucky.
