@whenoceansrise: I started working on a packing list this morning!
I'm 33 weeks and delivered at 36 weeks last time so... I'm nervous! I work at the hospital where I'll have the baby, but it's an hour away from my house depending on traffic. I keep thinking that if I go into work and end up having to stay I want to have comfy clothes and not have to wear my dirty work scrubs. I better get packing!

@MamaG: I'll probably bring a little sleeper and a blanket. We loved our shower cap style cover last time for a winter baby, so I'll bring that too.

@MrsF: how long were you on rest last time? I hope we both avoid it!!!!

@BandDmommy: He's so adorable!!
@MrsF: Eeeh!! Hope you don't go into labor unprepared! Definitely pack your hospital bag and just have it with you all the time!

Now that my doctor's visits are starting to get more frequent, what kinds of questions should I be asking my doctor? He is always asking me what questions I have and I feel dumb because I never know what to ask!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@whenoceansrise: I rarely had questions! Now my questions are like "Can you write me a note for my work so they let me park closer to the building?" and "My back hurts - that's normal, right?"
Oooh! Although you could ask if they have a suggestion for a pediatrician. I asked my midwife that and I LOVE the pediatrician she suggested!
nectarine / 2053 posts
@Adira: hahaha! I need to get a note for that too! I actually have talked with him about a pediatrician and he had lots of opinions about that! I'll probably choose the one he recommended
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@whenoceansrise: Yeah, you can always switch if you don't like them!
The other thing I remember asking my midwife about (or maybe she brought it up as I got closer) was "So what am I supposed to do when I think I'm going into labor?" (The answer was to call them and talk to a midwife/nurse and they would tell me when/if to go to the hospital, unless my water broke - then just go to the hospital)

@winniebee: Just under 2 weeks for pre-e - and it was just modified. More like couch rest It's just so hard to imagine being restricted at all with a two year old to care for! I guess I'd have to ask my mom to come up. I have some aunts who would definitely help too if I really needed it, but not very local. Hopefully both of us can stay off bedrest this time!

@Adira: Yep, that's the master bathroom . It's huge but I hate it, it's sooo poorly designed. DH and I plan on re-doing it in the near future.
nectarine / 2053 posts
@Adira: I have no idea what to expect when it comes to labor and delivery!

@whenoceansrise: I never have questions anymore. I can't recall what questions I asked the first time either. Now I just sort of whine. I was informed at my last appointment that I will be tested for Group B strep (I whined)! I really thought I'd avoid the testing since I'm having a planned C-section. No such luck.
My doctor is generally pretty informative, so I don't usually feel like there is much left to ask.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@MamaG: Ugh, I'm being tested for that next time too!
@whenoceansrise: I guess you could ask about that then! Or maybe what you should bring to the hospital? I feel like I didn't ask a lot of questions (though I probably asked a ton of HB)!

I faithfully read What to Expect in my first pregnancy and I felt like it told me all that I needed to know. I'm not sure if that was true, but I felt fairly well prepared as I progressed.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
Forgot to mention this (and it's probably old news for everyone else anyway), but I have definitely started experiencing some BHs!
nectarine / 2631 posts
@Adira: @MamaG: they tested me early for it in this pregnancy and I have it this time (BOOO) so its antibiotics for me during labor!!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@cheert16: That sucks! Although last time I had to have an IV anyway because of my platelets, so whether I have Strep B or not won't really affect me since I'm going to be hooked to an IV regardless!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@whenoceansrise: I usually don't have much to ask either since I either already know from HB or other sources! I do want to ask her about the Tdap thing this Friday though.
Since I have my lamaze & hospital tour in 2 weeks I'll probably see what info is there first and then see if I have additional questions.

Is anyone else exhausted? I'm almost 33 weeks and I'm DONE by 6 p.m. I feel like such a slacker mom with B. Luckily we do fun stuff in the morning and early afternoon so I don't feel that bad. It's nasty outside today so my motivation is even lower. How is everyone feeling?
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@BandDmommy: Yes, I'm definitely exhausted! It's harder on my days off because I have to be on the go with Xander all day. It's easier to work because I can just sit at my desk most of the day and then I still have a little energy left for the evening. I don't know how you do it staying home. I'd need a nap!! I had Xander all day on Saturday (Hubs was gone for most of the day), and I was EXHAUSTED!! I looked forward to his nap and his bedtime and then I just wanted to pass out on the couch!
Also... my husband helped me off the floor the other day and pulled a muscle doing it... I'm officially a whale.

@BandDmommy: i've been going to bed at 8:30- however, i have not been able to fall asleep that quickly! seriously, i can't remember the last full night of sleep i've been able to get.
the other night in bed i was crying to dh about how i just want to be able to sleep. then i was like "well 10 more weeks and i'll be able to get comfortable enough to sleep" then we started laughing because in 10 more weeks we'll have a newborn and will get even less sleep!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@whenoceansrise: I wonder if part of the last part of pregnancy is really to get us used to not getting enough sleep, so we're not totally shocked when we're caring for a newborn!
nectarine / 2053 posts
@Adira: yeah, sleep deprivation prep! i can't imagine how much worse it will get as we get closer to our due dates!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
I was just telling DH that although I'll sleep even less when DD is here, at least my body will be my own! I treasure this whole pregnancy period so I'm strictly speaking about the pains and aches and general lack of comfort no matter what I do!
Hang in there mama's! We're almost there!

@whenoceansrise: I actually slept better once LO arrived than during pregnancy.

@BandDmommy: YES! At least when you sleep someone isn't kicking you from inside!

This thread moves so quickly! I love it, but feel so behind.
Regarding the TDAP, from what I have researched and from what my doctors have told me, they recommend getting the TDAP booster (and the flu shot) while you are pregnant so that you pass on some of the benefits of the vaccine to your baby in utero, since they won't be able to get the vaccine for a few months after they're born.
I've sort of started a little pile of things for the hospital. Ha. Mostly just some toiletries, socks, and our camera, along with a blanket and a sleeper for our little guy to come home in.
@winniebee: Sounds like a good appointment - I'm glad he is just a skinny-minny!! Will keep my fingers that you and @MrsF: don't have to go on bed-rest.
@BandDmommy: @whenoceansrise: I have been so exhausted too! And I just sit at my desk all day; I'm not up and chasing a toddler around. It doesn't help that I haven't been sleeping well. I think I fall asleep pretty quickly these days, but I'll wake up a few times at night and won't be able to get back to sleep. I actually don't mind too much, because I just lie there and snuggle my dog. Ha.

@theotherstark: I packed so much crap with LO #1 in my hospital bag (I rolled in a small suitcase) I used like NONE of it. This time I am bringing a small bag with just the essentials and an outfit for the baby. It was just a hassle to bring all the crap I didn't use home!
pomegranate / 3045 posts
@cheert16: Yeah, I don't think I'm going to take very much, since it sounds like the hospital supplies a lot of the "stuff" that you and baby need! It would be most helpful to have all of our chargers in one place (phones, etc.), but since we use those daily, can't really put them in the bag yet

I don't think DH will be staying with me at the hospital this time around (and I'm completely okay with that concept). We live about 3 miles from the hospital. I will try to take very little with me knowing he can bring me anything.
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@BandDmommy: yeah I'm pretty exhausted in the afternoon until bed time. My insomnia was worse last time so I definitely slept better with a newborn. However this time I am so tired from chasing Tyler. He is up by 6:30 and many days does not nap. At all.
nectarine / 2631 posts
@MamaG: I don't think DH will be staying with me either. I am actually super nervous about it! I know he needs to be home with LO#1- but the hospital freaks me out and being there alone with a newborn freaks me out too! ( although we are 30 minutes from the hospital- maybe if he was that close I wouldn't be so nervous!)
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@MamaG: @cheert16: Depending on when I give birth, Hubs might not stay with me either. If it's in the middle of the night again, then he'll probably stay overnight since my mom will be with Xander. But if it's during the day, he'll probably go home at night to be with Xander.

My sister is staying with C, but she's only been away from us overnight once. And DH has sleep apnea and sleeps with a CPAP. His sleep was horrible last time which meant my sleep was horrible. And I was wary of sending C to the nursery last time. This time I'll be more inclined to send K and get some rest. We will likely be a happier family if DH can go home and sleep.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@theotherstark: Hmm I will def ask my OB this question again when I go on Friday! I guess she is saying what you're saying since she told me to get it before birth.
I made a list of what to pack for hospital for me, DH & baby. I did it in case I go into labor early so at least DH or someone else will know what to pack haha!
