@BandDmommy: exciting that things are happening! I'm sorry that you have to worry about childcare though. So stressful! I'm nervous enough about it and our families are only an hour away. Sounds like a good solution to have your dad come up early!

@BandDmommy: Oh wow! I guess we shouldn't be surprised, but that's crazy!! People are going to start having babies really soon (especially Sandy TOMORROW)!! I hope you're able to find a solution for someone to watch B. That would make me nervous too.

@BandDmommy: !! What do real contractions feel like vs BH? More like period cramps than tightening? I would def ask family; they'll be there no matter what!

@BandDmommy: Hang in there! Thinking of you! I can't believe we're already going to be meeting some of these December babies!

@snowjewelz: I think labor will occur in next week or so because I am dilated, my mucous plug is starting to fall out, and sounds gross but my stomach has been upset (loose bowels). Sorry for the TMI.

@BandDmommy: Ahh, I can't believe it! I mean, I can, but it's crazy to think the babies are starting to come now! Ha. I'm sorry that you're stressed about childcare - I hope it works out for your dad to come up. That sounds like it could be a good solution.

I had an ultrasound at my appointment - baby boy is looking good! The ultrasound tech said that he is measuring about 6lbs 11 oz. Bigger than I had expected, for some reason! Now I'm wondering how big he'll end up
Is everyone feeling pretty ready? I think I'm a little in denial that he sort of could come at any time. Ha. I know it's unlikely that he'll come early, but I should probably mentally start preparing myself.

I officially made it to 37 weeks. Checked my cervix yesterday and I'm still 3 cm / 70%, and felt/noticed braxton hicks contractions for the first time yesterday. Dr. def. thinks I'll be going before my due date but thought I could still go a week or 2.
@BandDmommy: Thanks for sharing the 'early' labor symptoms as I've been wondering what to look for as well pre-contractions. I actually thought I was going to go Sunday because Saturday I felt awful, had multiple bm's as you had, and was throwing up from indigestion overnight... but nothing yet. I haven't had any 'real' contractions though.
That sucks that your friend is being flakey this week when you may need her most! Hopefully it works out with your dad. Best of luck!
@Sandy Thinking of you!! So exciting to be meeting our babies!
Anyone else an emotional wreck? I'm almost tearing up at the above sentence, and was fighting it when touring the birthing center Sunday! I think I will be bawling when I actually start going into labor! Getting super excited to meet this little guy!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@theotherstark: Glad to hear your appointment went well!!
I definitely don't feel ready. I still need to install the car seat, wash baby clothes, pack the hospital bag... hoping baby stays put for a few more weeks so I have time to get stuff done!
@josina: I'm definitely an emotional wreck. I cry at the drop of a hat! It especially sucks when something comes to me at work and then I get all teary and I just pray no one stops by my cube while I'm trying to get the tears out of my eyes!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@BandDmommy: I think we're all way beyond TMI here haha, plus it's good to what signs of labor we're experiencing!
@theotherstark: I don't entirely trusts their calculations. One week she was only 4 lbs 6 oz, then the next week she was already 5 lbs 8 oz... I'm thinking she'd get over 6 lbs this week too. My OB said she'd probably be around 7 lbs but I'm still thinking she's smaller.
I def am mentally prepared to go in November if that happens... We're more or less ready. I still have a few shipments of things coming in but nothing urgent that we need and I just need return some more things. I figure if I do go into labor, I'd still have some time at home to finish packing hospital bag, and honestly DH can just throw the carseat in and figure it out at some point before we are discharged haha! There are more things I want to do but nothing that NEEDS to be done in order for her to be born.
I really don't want her to come early tho b/c of my GD!
@josina: Woohooooo! Congrats on being full term!
pomelo / 5298 posts
@snowjewelz: Has your OB talked at all about induction related to GD or not letting you go past a certain point? I see it fairly routinely with other GD moms. I know with my first I was induced at about 39 weeks due to GD and my age combination. My OB said if I only had one issue she wouldn't have induced.

@BandDmommy: Wow! Things are starting to get exciting! I hope your dad will be able to come help you!
@josina: Congrats to making it to 37 weeks! So exciting that you could go into labor soon!

@josina: Glad you officially made it to 37 weeks! Good news. I have been a little more emotional lately. Definitely tearing up more at things!
@Adira: Yeah, I still need to do a Target and BBB run too. Stay in there, baby!! Ha.
@snowjewelz: Yeah. I'm 37 weeks tomorrow, and it looks like the 'average' they say for babies at 37 weeks is about 6.5 lbs, so I guess he is right around there.
We have all of the necessities at this point, so I feel confident that we'd be fine if he came tomorrow or something. Just lots of little things to do and buy that we don't urgently need. I do have a hospital bag packed, although I think I'm going to repack it, since my husband needs to add some stuff

I don't feel ready and I'm absolutely in denial! This is my last week of work and I officially have less than a week to meeting this baby. But yet, I just can't cross things off my list, my give-a-damn is pretty much gone regarding just about everything at this point.
My emotions are all over the place and my lows feel pretty low. And I seem to have more lows than highs lately. I just pray it all evens out soon.
And I'm highly intolerant of most people around me anymore. I find most people to just be ridiculous and annoying and I'd prefer to just stay in my own little bubble somewhere without the rest of the world interfering
nectarine / 2053 posts
@theotherstark: I drove by the hospital yesterday on my way to pick up DH from work and I started freaking out a little imagining how pretty soon I'll be delivering our baby at that hospital. I'm only 34 weeks now though so I definitely want him to stay put for a few more weeks!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@MamaG: I'm totally with you about finding most people annoying!!! I need for people to stop making comments about how close I am, how big I am, etc. Just STFU. People should just not talk to me.
Also, I'm starting to feel stressed that I didn't complete as much stuff as I wanted at work before going on leave. I know I still have 5 more weeks (presumably), but I was hoping to be further along on my tasks than I am. Bleh.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@MamaG: Yup. She said she does not want me to go early, but also won't let me go past 40 weeks so I'd get induced between 39-40 if nothing is to happen. So I'm hoopping maybe she will come right around 38-39 on her own!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@Adira: It's ok... My productivity def has gone down. I'm not comfortable sitting at work and I have a hard time really concentrating or being motivated!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@Adira: I am so over work... I'd be happy to spend my days right now finish prepping for this baby! But I'm trying to work till the last day possible since I'm not getting any STD from work
pomegranate / 3045 posts
@MamaG: Can't believe it's less than a week for you!! Eek!!
@whenoceansrise: Ha, we drove by the labor & delivery entrance today when I went in for my appt. Made things seem a little more real!!
@Adira: Ugh, I'm feeling the same way about work stuff So stressful!
pomegranate / 3973 posts
@Adira: @snowjewelz: Totally not being productive and reading Hellobee instead! After panic-mode last week getting everything done at work, I'm kind of 'done' with it! Ready to be off!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@snowjewelz: @theotherstark: Yeah, I'm so over work too. But I'm trying to work until I go into labor because I only get the 12 weeks and I want to maximize the time with the baby.
pomelo / 5298 posts
Ugh, I'm management and haven't even transitioned my tasks to someone else yet. Did I mention it's my last week? No one seems to terribly worried for some reason. But, yes, I'm over work, and people and everything. Maybe I need a quick vacation
pomegranate / 3045 posts
@Adira: I'm working up until I go into labor, too! And I'm terrified that I'll have my water break on the metro or something Ha. Unlikely, I know, but still.
@MamaG: Ugh! Well, soon it won't be your problem anyway

@theotherstark: that would be my fear! Or having my baby in a metro station... Those places are nasty...
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@theotherstark: Maybe just always bring some pads/extra underwear/towel with you now? Just in case? Also in my birthing class they say that it's not always a huge gush for everyone, so it can just start trickling which is easier to handle (altho still tough being in public!) It isn't too common so don't worry!
honeydew / 7283 posts
@josina: Congratulations on 37 weeks!
@snowjewelz: I think you're right about the ultrasound calculations. I had an ultrasound on Monday and they wouldn't even do a growth measurement because it had only been on week since the last one and it's too unreliable. They will check next Monday (so two weeks from the last).
@theotherstark: Thanks for re-posting the list! Crazy to think we will be meeting all of these babies so soon

This thread is HOT!
It's so hard for me to say what early labor is like since last time I had contractions starting at 30w (BH starting at 26) --- but basically my BH became really really really really strong. Like whole belly gets tight and there's pain accompanying them like someone is twisting your uterus and for me the pain wrapped around to my back. You can't walk through them and have to stop and catch your breath and wince. I would have some of those off and on for a week before actual labor. Then with actual labor those types of contractions started coming more frequently. I never lost my mucous plug that I noticed and my waters didn't break til after I had my epidural (so after 6cm).
I walked around at 3cm and 80% effaced for over a week before labor last time. At my 38w appt I was 4cm and 80% and I went to the hospital the next day.
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
Normal check up today -- no weight gain (yay!) and nothing else fun to report. My doc said at 36 weeks I can stop paying attention to every little contraction and just call when I'm in labor. Until then, they will try to halt labor. So, only a little over a week to go until I can chill out.
I'm totally emotional too. My son is being so sweet about the baby it melts my heart. Also the thread about Sammyfab has me tearing up every few minutes. So utterly heartbreaking.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@winniebee: I couldn't read the whole thing about Sammyfab - it just broke my heart. The fact that she has a little son... it's so heart-wrenching. I started crying at my desk and had to go hide in the bathroom until my eyes didn't look so red.

I just did a quick run through Target and spent nearly $200! But I think I can pack my hospital bag now. DH will be thrilled tonight, I'm sure.
Yah for all the good appointments this week, I have my final appointment and ultrasound tomorrow.

@winniebee: I saw that on IG last night and it made me so sad. Only 1 more week and you can relax. Yay!!!

Second time moms what did you decide to do about a monitor? Right now we only use audio (and only ever have). I can't decide whether a video is worth it at this point but I do at least need to get a dual monitor system.
honeydew / 7283 posts
@winniebee: We love our motorola video monitor so we just got a second camera for that. I'm so spoiled by the video monitor now that it makes me crazy when we're using our audio monitor for travel and I can't see her.
