So had my NT scan today! Everything looked good, although we won't know the real results for a few more weeks. Heart rate was 152 bpm, which is around where Xander's was, so now I'm thinking maybe it's a boy.

Also, NT was 1.4mm, which I think is probably pretty good for 13w5d. I'm feeling pretty confident now and I can't WAIT to tell our family this weekend!!
@sandy: Thank you!!! I'm sooooooo curious to see how this baby looks in comparison to Xander once he/she is born! Xander's such an adorable kid (in my obviously humble opinion) and I wonder how similar they will look to each other!

@Adira: Xander is sooo adorable in my unbiased opinion . Have you compared their profiles from the NT scans? LO had a really curvy profile and a huge belly...this baby has sharper features based on the profile and no belly...so skinny. When I was pregnant with LO eating made me feel better and I loved eating lots of stuff...with this one everything makes me sick and nothing sounds good. DH tells me to stop over analyzing it

@sandy: Well, here's Xander for comparison! I think they look pretty similar. And so far all my symptoms have been identical!

@Adira: congrats!! So cute. Does Xander understand he's gonna be a big brother??
@theotherstark I was shocked cuz I thought it was too early too! But she offered and we were both there so I figured why not??! I figure I will get real confirmation at my anatomy scan in mid July
@whenoceansrise no boy names yet! I don't feel too strongly about anything and my SO has rejected most of my ideas so far.
@snowjewelz Since you are curious! Here is a "boy" shot LOL. Also belated congrats on being farther along!!!

@magnolia: haha, no, I don't think so! He's only 15 months, so I don't think he has a clue what I'm saying!

My next Apt is July 9th I'll be 17weeks 3 days, I don't think I'm getting an u/s again until the gender, but I pray I can convience them I want so badly to know if it's a little boy or girl!
pomegranate / 3045 posts
@Adira: Aww, what a great profile shot!
@magnolia: So exciting! It will be interesting to see if they're right!!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@magnolia: I asked at my NT Scan if she could tell if it was a boy or a girl and she said you can't really tell this early, because even if you see something you think might be a penis, it could actually just be a swollen labia! So I'm so curious if they are right about yours!!

@Adira: I was able to find out at my NT scan last pregnancy and they were 100% correct. I had a CVS test, so I had confirmation within a week that it was a boy. I feel like it's easier to know if it's a boy than a girl.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@littlek: So interesting!! I do agree though - you'd think if it was pretty obvious that it looked like a boy, then they'd get that right!
pomegranate / 3045 posts
I found this to be really interesting - they look so similar!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@theotherstark: Yes!! I think this is why my u/s tech said they can't tell yet! So crazy how similar they look!

@Adira: congrats on a good ultrasound. That's a great picture!

@magnolia: Oh that is obvious lol! Nice!
@theotherstark: Oo love this link and the clear pictures! Thanks! ETA: It's CRAZY how defined everything is already down the nitty gritty!
I technically don't even need to wait till baby's gender to buy stuff b/c I like gender neutral clothes/decor lol. But I've been trying very hard not to buy anything this early... I really don't want to buy too much or what I don't need! I need to save!!
pomegranate / 3045 posts
@snowjewelz: I know, it really is insane how developed they are this early!
I have also been holding off on buying stuff. My husband is of the 'why buy it now when you don't need it yet' mentality, and I just haven't wanted to jinx things, I guess. I don't know. Haha. Maybe once we have the anatomy scan, it will make things seem more "real"/definite.
ETA And I tend to like the more gender-neutral clothes as well
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@theotherstark: I'm the same way. I'm nervous about jinxing things, so I'm not buying anything until after 20 weeks I think! But I also like gender neutral stuff, so I COULD buy things now if I wanted to!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@theotherstark: I am surprised how little there actually is! I just though there'd be way more gender neutral things given that team green is more & more popular.
I might print this whole webpage out and bring with me to the next scan, lol. I was talking to a few co-workers and jokingly they were like you can take our scans with you to compare
pomegranate / 3045 posts
@snowjewelz: Yeah, I've actually been a little surprised about that too. Even places like Carters don't have tons of gender-neutral stuff.
Ha, I know, it's nice to have a reference. When the tech was doing our NT scan, I thought I saw a little sumthin' sumthin' "down there," but since the nubs are so similar at this stage, I didn't really put much stock into it. Plus, I guess it could even have been the cord or something. I don't think I could ever be Team Green, haha. I need to know!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@theotherstark: I didn't even think to ask at the NT scan... I read on my app that by now the baby should be able to hear my voice so I've been prep talking to the baby telling it to behave and show itself next week lol
pomegranate / 3045 posts
@snowjewelz: Yeah, I didn't ask at the NT scan since I figured it was too early to tell.
Haha omg that is so funny. Hopefully you'll get some good shots next week! I don't have an ultrasound until my anatomy scan on the 21 of July, so I have lots of waiting to do.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@theotherstark: The ramble so fast, half the time I don't know what my appointments are for! I only know the one next week is like NT scan part 2 or something. And then the 7/7 one w/ my OB, I don't know what it's for lol. I'm only 19+3 then
pomelo / 5298 posts
I distinctly recall with my first that they couldn't see anything at my NT scan there wasn't any discussion of sex. I had two anatomy scans (16 and 20 weeks). At 16 weeks they tried to see, but legs were crossed. The doctor guessed girl but wouldn't put any confidence into it. At 20 weeks, we could distinctly see the three lines indicating girl.
I have my first anatomy scan next week (16+2) and will hopefully have my Panorama test back by then. I'm getting really anxious since I was prepped to know at 12 weeks with the Panorama.

Had my 12 week OB appt and all is well - no ultrasound today but they found baby's strong heartbeat right away. Huge relief since I haven't had an ultrasound in 6 weeks. NT scan is Tuesday. Doc didn't rule out twins since I have 2 corpus luteal cysts on one ovary but said the ultrasound tech probably would have seen 2 babies at the 6 week ultrasound. Will know for sure next week, though my gut tells me just one
***next OB visit July 3
***anatomy scan July 24 (and midwife appt)
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@winniebee: Yay for hearing the heartbeat!! That is always SUCH a relief at every appointment, especially these beginning months! And I would've thought your OB would've heard two heartbeats if you were having twins, so my guess is there's only one!
pomegranate / 3045 posts
@MamaG: Eeek, I can't wait to hear what you're having!
@winniebee: Yay! Love that instant of relief when you hear the heartbeat on the doppler
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@Adira: apparently Doppler isn't reliable indicator of just one baby!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@winniebee: Ahh, haha, I had no idea! Can't wait for you to have your u/s to get a confirmation!

We are having a girl. This will be our second girl. I got word last week from the blood test I had done due to my "advanced maternal age." My husband doesn't know yet. I'm giving him a gift from the baby on Fathers Day. Which is just a bib.
@theotherstark: As far as purchases go, I bought a bassinet and a Boba Wrap. The bassinet I picked up b/c it was a great price. I was out helping a friend with her registry and realized I didn't want my second child using the 38 year old cradle we used with our first. This one is cheap, portable, and light. Sold! And the wrap I originally bought as another baby shower gift but then decided to keep for myself. I wish I had one with my first born. It took 4 carriers to figure out what worked...that ended up being the baby bjorn.

@Adira: With my last pregnancy they told us that she was a boy at the NT scan. They were definitely wrong! I told them not to even guess this time. Hopefully we'll find out in 3 weeks at my anatomy scan
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@MrsF: Oooh, interesting!! So curious to hear if any of these genders people have found out at their NT scans are wrong!
pomegranate / 3045 posts
@genarator: Awww congratulations!!
And that's great you've picked some things up! I actually did remember that I snagged a few cloth diapers that went on sale, so I do have those
And a friend has given me a few onesies, so I do have a little baby pile of things forming.
@MrsF: Ha, that's what I would be afraid of! Thinking that you know, then having it change later. Can't believe everyones' scans are coming up so soon!
