@allison: I think they are generally done between 18-22 weeks. Last time mine was at 18.5 weeks -- same this time.

I traded in my mustang for a more baby friendly car today. Excited to have a new, safer vehicle- but I'm going to miss my mustang!

@allison: I've been referred to MFM for my anatomy scans. Yes, two! My first was at about 16.5 weeks and my next one is at 19.5 weeks. I think 20 weeks is fairly standard, but earlier seems to work as well.

@Mrs.Lilac: Sorry for your loss, and boo on the midwife. I'd go drown myself in ice cream. Not that I'm suggesting it's a healthy solution, but take care of yourself!

@Mrs.Lilac: Sorry to hear about your grandma.
My anatomy scan is being done at 18w3d (even though I already know it's a boy due to the blood test I had done)

@Mrs.Lilac so sorry to hear about your gramma. May she get some peace now.
I was having a great day until the perinatal office called to say they got my 16 week results and wanted me to come in, of course they would tell me nothing over the phone, except not to worry. So I am going in tomorrow and feeling SO stressed. The 12 week blood draw and NT scan were normal so of course I thought this would be too. I'm freaking out and tomorrow afternoon can't come fast enough.

@magnolia: Aww I hope your appt goes well today! Sending prayers & good thoughts your way! I hate that doctors sometimes are so secretive!

@Mrs.Lilac: I'm so sorry for your loss! And I'm sorry your midwife wouldn't even listen to the heartbeat - that doesn't even make sense to me. How hard is it to pull out that portable doppler to reassure your patient?? So sorry.
@magnolia: Ugh, sorry about having to go in to discuss your results! How stressful!!! I hope everything is okay!

Btw, it's fun to hear that others are feeling movement too! I felt a few flutters during week 15, and starting about 16w I started to feel movement and kicks/punches almost every day. I'm 17w5d today and can't wait for it to get more consistent/frequent I actually was starting to nod off on the plane Sunday night, and a huge kick or flip or something definitely woke me up. Ha.

@theotherstark: awwwww I'm at 16w2days and no movement yet, I don't think.......I can't wait to experience it!!!!!!!!

Thanks to everyone for their positive thoughts and prayers. I really hope sharing this is not triggering or scary for anyone, especially as I feel oddly optimistic.
We found out the baby is at a higher risk for Down's syndrome today based on my 16 week blood test (1/276 versus 1/752 for my age etc). 12 week test and NT scan were "normal". MFM recommend s amnio but we aren't comfortable with the risk of miscarriage so we got the Panorama test done today. I get the results back in a little over a week. That should give us a better idea of the risk but not a positive yes/no.
Anyway I am going to try not to drive myself insane via the internet so I'm gonna take a break from it for awhile, as much as possible. Wishing you all happy few weeks

@magnolia: I'm sorry, that does sound a bit stressful! I bet everything is just fine, so definitely try not to worry!

I changed my anatomy scan to 19 weeks, because I just kept worrying that they wouldn't be able to get all the measurements they need, and I'd have to go back in for another scan.
***August 1st - anatomy scan
Also, I guess my bump has popped in the last few days or so. I was at a neighborhood cookout tonight and this guy was there that's an acupuncturist and swears he can tell you the sex of your baby by reading your pulse. Anyway, he was like, "how far along are you? You look pretty petite, so it's hard to tell. 6? 7 months?" Um... Not quite 4 months, thanks! Ha. Then he made a comment about twins. Freaked me out a bit. I have this scary vision of going into the anatomy scan and seeing two babies instead of just one! I guess anything's possible...

@magnolia: Thinking of you. Hope the Panorama results come back quickly.

@magnolia: Sorry to hear your news, I hope the Panorama can help to better assess your risk. I'll be keeping you in my thoughts.

@magnolia: That sounds super stressful - I will be thinking of you!

@allison: Will you still have your appt on the 17th, or was that when the anatomy scan was scheduled?
Ha, that's too funny about the acupuncturist. Maybe he just doesn't know how far along women tend to look at 6/7 months?? I don't think I had a firm grasp of how big women "should" be/would be at different stages before I got pregnant, so it's entirely possible I would have that that I was further along if I saw myself now Oh man, though. I can only imagine what a shock it would be to find twins at the anatomy scan!! Eeeek.

@whenoceansrise: What did you get? It's so cool you drove a mustang! I am keeping my mini for now, since DH got the safer car (CRV) and I still prefer my little car for daily work commute
@theotherstark: I still have no clue what's going on down there... I feel a lot of things, but I feel like most of it is still ligament pain?? I try really hard to lay still and dissect everything but I just am not sure!
@magnolia: I hope you'll be able to not think about it too much! Keep yourself busy and think good thoughts!
nectarine / 2053 posts
@snowjewelz: It's a 2014 Nissan Sentra. It gets 40 miles per gallon which is WAY better than my mustang! Yeah, you will be okay with the CRV. DH drives a truck with no back seat so we definitely had to get a new vehicle!
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@magnolia: I'm so sorry for this stressful news. Those odds are still pretty low but I hope that the further testing gives you more reassurance.

@theotherstark: Yeah, the 17th is just a routine appt.
I will die if I find out there's twins in there! DIE.

@allison: Great, I'll keep it in there. HA omg! Well, still no multiples on this board, so you never know...
@MrsMccarthy: @MrsD: Ahh I can't wait to hear!! Bw, I think @winniebee: 's scan isn't for a few weeks yet.

Updates! I think I got everything from @MamaG: 's update (thank you again!!), but please let me know if I missed something! So exciting that we're really getting into the thick of finding out the sex these days!

@Mrs.Lilac: I had a friend whose bump got BIG all of a sudden and then with the stress of having to move to a new home, her bump shrank. Almost in half. She freaked out, but it was really a lot of water weight she gained and all the stress and moving around with the move caused her bump to recede.
I know it's easier to say not to worry. I'm waiting for the results of my MaterniT21 test and it's definitely not easy to "not worry" but try to keep your self preoccupied until your next scan if possible. Lots of manis and pedis!

I've been absent for a while with various little trips and closing on our house last week. Excited to have more room for baby #2!
Today has been a little bit of a roller coaster. I had my anatomy scan this morning (18w2d) and we found our we're having a little... boy! Of course we would have been thrilled either way, but we have a daughter so a boy will be great
Unfortunately just as we were soaking that in the MFM dr (not my OB) came in to tell us that the baby's kidneys were dilated, which could indicate hydronephrosis and maybe problems once baby is born There's no concern in utero and hopefully it will be gone when they look again in 6 weeks. It can also show a higher risk for downs, so they did the panorama test to give us a little peace of mind, but that won't tell us anything about the kidneys.
Of course I'm worried about the baby and I'm frustrated because we had a similar experience with my daughter. They said "it's a girl" and then told us they were concerned about her heart and it might be downs and wanted to do an amnio (which we declined). It ended up being nothing but it was definitely stressful. Hopefully this turns out the same way!
