This week I was 18 weeks. My afp test just came back negative (previously nipt came back low risk). I think I'm finally letting myself exhale and enjoy the ride a little bit. I had extended morning sickness, lots of psychological stress with fearing pregnancy outcomes especially with having to work in the hospital etc. I started therapy a few weeks ago and it's been helping me (yay for zoom appointments!). Yesterday, we told DS about the pregnancy, and I let myself order some maternity clothes. Baby steps!
Hope all the other Fall moms are doing ok. I'd love to hear how you're doing.

@littlebear16: It seems more common than I thought to have all the same sex. I know 3 people who have 3 girls only and I know 4 who have 3 boys and 1 has 4 boys so at least I'm in good company.
@MoonMoon: You're right, and I'm very blessed to have 3 healthy boys. I had my appointment today and it seems my blood pressure is on the rise. They started me on some medication to hopefully curb it. My AFP tests all came back negative as well and we should be scheduling our next ultrasound soon. I'm glad you're getting the support you need to help you through. Pregnancy really is so stressful when you can't see what's going on.

@MrsMom: how's everything going? Have they continued tracking your blood pressure?
Love to hear from other Fall 2020 moms!

Had this board fizzled out? Thinking if you ladies as we head into due date season!

@yellowbeach: yes, sadly, we have fizzled! I hope everyone is doing well in the home stretch too.

I am still around 7 weeks to go. @moonmoon how long do you have? How are you feeling?

I never joined but my due date for baby no. 4 is 2 weeks away! Feeling not ready and weary of 2020 but hoping the mama instincts kick in when baby arrives.

@Shybee23: also 7 wks! Today is 33 weeks for me. My Ob practice offers induction at 39 weeks and I'm strongly considering taking them up on it, if things seem favorable. I'm so done with working, I can't imagine going the full 40+ weeks!
@mrs.kiwi: welcome! I hear you on not feeling ready. We need... everything, basically. My first is 7 years old, so we got rid of baby stuff a while back.

@MoonMoon: oh man! I think the nice thing is we know we don’t need all the baby things. But it must be overwhelming to start over with baby stuff! I still have tons of clothes and most essentials, though after 3 kids everything is pretty old and worn. I can’t get myself to buy new things though when I know the baby stage is so short!

@mrs.kiwi: I feel like I'm having to relearn everything, and so much is different now!
How are you feeling, so close to your due date?
kiwi / 635 posts
@MoonMoon: that’s what moms with bigger age gaps say.. it’s like starting over! But it will be exciting to have another one- a whole new experience 🥰. Is your older one excited?
I’m feeling not ready and wishing for more time.. my first time mom friends are like “I’m not ready- we have the decorate the nursery and paint the dresser!” And I’m like man I am going for the basics- clothes, pack n play, diapers, lol. I am hoping the mom instincts kick in for labor and delivery, breastfeeding, and taking care of a newborn...

@mrs.kiwi: I hear you! Wishing for more time... but also anxious to meet the baby already! I need to get at least 3 major things: carseat, breast pump, and bassinet. Oh and I should probably buy some diapers and wipes
PS yes DS is very excited! He loves going over names with me. How about yours?

@MoonMoon: yes mine are excited too. It’s fun expecting while having an older kid.

I realized that I forgot to share, baby O was born at 37+6 on August 13th! He was originally scheduled to be born by scheduled c-section on August 21st but he failed a BPP (I had gestational diabetes so I was having weekly BPPs) so it was moved up. Then I wound up back in the hospital 2 days after being discharged with postpartum preeclampsia.

@Marfi: congrats! What a sweet baby. I’m so sorry to hear about your complications. Postpartum complications are no joke . I hope you are recovering well.

@Marfi: awww congratulations! What a precious baby! I'm so sorry about the postpartum pre-eclampsia - my friend had that a few years back and it sounded so scary. I hope you're feeling much better now.
@mrs.kiwi: countdown is on! How are you feeling?

@Marfi: aww congrats! What a cutie! Gotta love the pretty c-section heads haha (I had 2!). Hope recovery is better now!

My 36 week appointment is on Tuesday and I'm really hoping my Dr will put me on light duty. Do any of you have experience with this? What can I say to ensure she'll agree? I work 12-hour shifts and by the end I'm in so much pain, and of course the anxiety of working at the hospital has been with me throughout the pregnancy but on paper I don't have anything obviously wrong.
Help!

@MoonMoon: I was able to get support for light duty from Occupational Health actually. They have an ethical duty to ensure the workforce is physically and mentally fit. Unfortunately ACOG is not much help here. And that’s what most OBs are going off of.

@yellowbeach: that's so interesting. I've wondered why the OBs in this practice have been so hands off this whole time, this answers it. I'll see what they say tomorrow and see if I can get an appointment with occupational health if need be. My pelvis literally feels like it's breaking in half right now after 3 12-hr shifts.

@MoonMoon: aw that sounds so rough.. I don’t have advice but I know my sil was surprisingly able to get a doctors note from her ob to take her first trimester off from teaching. She had two miscarriages before but there was no real medical reason for her to take leave but thankfully her doctor okayed it. Just sharing that to say try hard and hopefully the professionals will have understanding and compassion on you!
Our little guy was born right on his due date last week and I am sooo enjoying the newborn snuggles. It’s a bit crazy still since we have three other kids and of course lack of sleep but it’s in a weird way relaxing to just focus on resting, the baby, and our family.

@mrs.kiwi: congratulations on the birth of your little one! Enjoying those newborn snuggles sounds so amazing right now. I hope you're both doing well and the whole family is adjusting wonderfully.

As for me, I'm enjoying my first work day on light duty. I can't describe the relief.
Had my first BPP yesterday and baby looks good. For the first time, I'm ready to relax and actually plan for this little one coming home in the next 3 ish weeks.

@MoonMoon: so glad you’re on light duty! Yay! I can’t believe our bodies carry around a baby for nine months. It’s amazing and it’s a lot of work.

@Marfi: How how how did I miss this beautiful post??? Congratulations on your rainbow!

Baby girl arrived 4 weeks early! She’s doing well, slowly but surely gaining weight. It’s a little overwhelming - we didn’t feel even close to prepared at home, so we’re definitely still settling in, plus I’m recovering from c-section. Also off to a slow start with breastfeeding since she’s a sleepy little peanut so we are in the BF/bottle feed/pump cycle. Just glad she’s home and healthy, and enjoying watching her big brother fall absolutely in love with her ️

@Shybee23: congratulations! I’m sure that was a surprise and it’s hard not feeling ready but so glad to hear she is safe at home with you now. Yes isn’t it the best watching big siblings love on their new baby? 🥰🥰🥰 my little guy has three older siblings dying to see him, touch him, kiss him... oh my!

@Shybee23: congratulations! I'm sure the early arrival felt chaotic but I'm glad you're settling in. My heart is melting at your description of your little ones' sibling interactions, so sweet!
