    @smocks: Welcome!
The rest of you: new page = hard to reply! I've been laughing at my belly button too though (although now I'm going to have to see if mine looks like a butt, too), because it's pretty much flattened out, but it hasn't popped out yet. We'll see!

I went to a breastfeeding/pumping/storing class this weekend, and after our experience with the labor/delivery class, I was not optimistic, but it ended up being fantastic. The instructor was great, the 3.5 hour class went long...but FLEW by, and she was basically very real, making sure to answer every question, but give tons of knowledge along the way. She adapted information for what people in the room needed (one with twins, a couple delivering at a different hospital, a second-time mom who quit on breast-feeding the first time, etc.). She also runs the moms group through the hospital, so she gave us lots of tips and suggestions that weren't really part of the class, but were just things she had heard from her moms' group. Loved it. DH mentioned again today that he thought the class was really worthwhile and well done...and for him to say that about a class on breastfeeding?! Wow.

I'm feeling like I've slowed down a lot, and I think I'm waddling now. Ack. I also have developed a (sometimes) shooting type pain near one hip. Sciatica? RLP? I have no clue what it's called, but until I hear otherwise, I assume it is just one of those lovely joys of pregnancy.

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

@lolabee: Congrats on passing the test and finishing up your classes... so exciting!

@shopaholic: and @smocks: Welcome to the Feb board!

@ladyfingers: That is too funny about your belly button. Mine is still an innie, but is starting to look weird as well!

We had our shower yesterday and it was really nice! It was a combined family thing (both families plus friends) so it was kindof big and hectic, but I'm also kinda glad I only have to do it once, lol. Sadly, we got 90% clothes that we'll probably never use. He now has like 50 million 3 month old onsies!

@smocks: Welcome to the February board!

@lolabee: @ladyfingers: That is how mine looks too! It is so weird.

@JessiBee: I'm glad your class was better than the first one. Sounds like you received some good information

@ValentineMommy: Glad you had a good shower! People just can't help themselves with buying baby clothes, can they? Did they at least provide gift receipts?

I also feel like I am slowing down. People are surprised that I am still at work. I plan on working until these babies decide to make their appearance. I'm pretty much the size of a woman with a full term singleton so it is starting to get a little more difficult for me to get around and to think I still have at most 7.5 weeks of this. I have also been experiencing some hip pain from sleeping on my side now which wakes me up. That's not too fun!

How is everyone feeling and did you have a good weekend?

@smocks: welcome, welcome! i'm at risk for iugr too, so i totally get the worrying. glad baby is doing well!

@JessiBee: glad your bf class went well. i was considering one, but i'm not sure if i'm going to do it. i kind of want to wait until baby girl gets here, and do it with her. i'm definitely going to look more into it now knowing how helpful it was for you!

i definitely feel y'all on the slowing and pain. i've been having pains/discomfort most of my pregnancy, but it's definitely heightened now. pregnancy does not agree with me! at this point, i am 100% on board for my medicated child birth! bring on the epi!

@JessiBee: Great to hear your class went well and that DH enjoyed it too!
@Mrs. High Heels: Thank you! I remember at the start thinking, gees 6 weeks at 3hrs each will take forever but it went so quickly.
@ValentineMommy: I'm glad your shower was really nice, but sorry to hear you were given mostly clothes, that's tough. @WALLAROO: That's crazy to think you're carrying a full term singleton right now! I didn't think of it that way with twins. I'm sorry to hear about the hip pain - how are you feeling otherwise?
@photojane: I'm sorry you're experiencing pain and discomfort, I'm sure 40 weeks feels like forever when that's how you're feeling. Hugs!!

I think the thing I am missing the most right now is proper sleep. I wake up all the time and never seem to hit REM sleep. Guess it's preparing me?! I'd rather sleep like a log til the baby comes.

Update on the nursery! I need to get on decorating it.

@lolabee: congrats on passing your GD test! And I'm happy you really enjoyed the hyno-birthing classes. We did our all day prep class on Saturday and we both feel more prepared for the whole thing although it also made it much more real which is kinda scary at the same time! Your nursery looks awesome! I love those windows.

@shopaholic: thanks for checking us out. I always love your updates on the bump thread - such a fashionable bump you have! : )

@smocks: welcome to the club! Glad your growth stuff ended up being okay! And great bump! - I would have never guessed your weight gain. You look all belly to me.

@JessiBee: that's great about the breastfeeding class - especially having DH interested and on board. I bough a book about it and we're doing a class in early January. I hope it goes as good as yours did!

@ValentineMommy: I'm happy you had a nice shower but hopefully you can try to return some of the clothes! Or atleast you'll have a celebrity baby for the first few months - new outfits for every day! no wash! haha

@WALLAROO: I can't believe your already at full term size for the rest of us - you look amazing from your last pic. I hear ya on the sleeping issues and hip pain. I find I've been doing spurts half on my back to take some of the pressure off my hips.

@photojane: totally slowing down over here too. Sorry that your comfort level has declined so much!! Hang in there lady!

@ladyfingers: my belly button has gotten wonky too but is not popped out yet. It looks super awkward when I'm reclining back sitting up like it's not sure what to do. And what's with people trying to make us feel like were delivering tomorrow! Tell your boss to shut it these babies need to cook longer!

We had a super crazy weekened......work xmas party on Friday, Birth Prep class Saturday, NYC for our anniversary Sunday and we visited 4 daycares on our day off today!! Oh and we have an Infant Care class tomorrow after work. I'm beat!!! Everything was great though and we found out we're getting our carpet on Thursday so I can FINALLY start setting up the nursery.

I think after our 4 visits today we decided on a daycare which is a huge relief. And they're running a promotion for 20% off/month for the entire time your there which really helps us out. Although DH also talked about possibly going to a weekend schedule at work if it opened up so BabyBoy doesn't have to go at all. This has it's perks but he'd be giving up his Supervisor position and we wouldn't have much weekend time together which I think is important too. I think the whole thing freaked him out a little bit. I still don't know what the right answer is so we're going to put our deposit in to hold our spot for now.

I agree with those who are feeling especially pregnant now. It's for sure hit me the last week. I'm sooo tired, my hips hurt when I sleep, my sacrum kills, I'm nauseous again and my stomach feels super heavy and big. I'm still not at the point where I want to be done but I've certainly slowed down A LOT. Hopefully we are able to hang in for the home stretch. Can't believe how close we're getting!

@lolabee: Oh wow! I LOVE your nursery so far! I love the zig zag ceiling, the scalloped rug, all the details! It's going to be gorgeous!

    @Phillybaby2013: Thanks! You're so sweet!
@ValentineMommy: Thanks for the welcome and I like what @phillybaby said! Your newborn can be a celeb baby! No laundry needed for months! But seriously, I know that sucks to not get what you truly need. Is most of the stuff Carter's because I read on one thread how most of that can be returned (or at least exchanged for store credit?)

  13. ValentineMommy

    pomelo / 5791 posts

@WALLAROO: We literally got 0 gift receipts. Not a one! Argh.

@lolabee: Looks awesome! I LOVE that rug!

@Phillybaby2013: Seriously - there are so many clothes, they could essentially be "disposable" Lol! We literally have 8 of the same sleeper in different sizes!

@shopaholic: I did go through a lot of the clothes last night and a lot IS carter's. We'll be trying to return this weekend!

I'm definitely slowing down, and when I can't (like, every day I go to work at 6am), I feel awful. I am literally sick and cranky every day I go into work. Every day I can stay home I feel fine. UGH. If only I were rich and could stay home! It's going to be tough because I have to work RIGHT up until our date.

  14. ladyfingers

@lolabee: The nursery is looking great!

@ValentineMommy: That is so annoying! Did you try scanning the tags with that "Shop Savvy" app that birdofafeather mentioned over on your other thread? If you have a smartphone...

I've been stalking the registry, so far a few things have been purchased but not much, so I'm just hoping people do all their shopping on Saturday and Sunday (my shower is at 2 on Sunday). I asked people to spread the word that we do NOT need clothes. We got SO many hand-me-downs and I know MIL has been buying this kid a full wardrobe for months. I'm just dreading two scenarios: getting very little off the registry or practically nobody coming to the shower. Either way having to drop loads of cash to buy the rest out!

And I also have no clue how I'm going to do this up until my due date! Mornings aren't bad but man the afternoons just DRAG and then I'm so tired when I get home but I CAN'T SLEEP! DH says I would be a basketcase staying at home, but I beg to differ. Work has been so slow it makes the time just drag by, at least if I'm home I can nap, watch movies, etc. But we do need the money so I guess there is no choice in the matter. Bah! Why can't we win powerball

  15. photojane

    cantaloupe / 6164 posts

@ValentineMommy: I did what @ladyfingers mentioned! We didn't get as many clothes as I was expecting since I'm having a girl, but the clothes we did get I didn't want. I downloaded the Redlaser app on my iPhone and scanned all the barcodes. I also spent some time searching for the things on different store websites. If any of be items were also sold at Target, Walmart, or Kohl's I just returned them there for store credit - none require receipts! I only ended up with one outfit and one swaddleme that I couldn't find a store for!

  16. ValentineMommy

    pomelo / 5791 posts

@ladyfingers: I feel the exact same way as your last paragraph. I can't focus at work, and really need to be at home. In fact, I feel fairly ill on the days I have to go in - worse heartburn, upset stomach, generally feeling like poo - and on the days I'm home, it's MUCH better. I'm wondering if they will let me work at home more or something, cause this is really sucking. I haven't gotten that app yet, but I'm going to have to! We went through our registry and picked out the must have before baby stuff - it still adds up to $800. Ugh. Not looking forward to spending so much more money. I hope it doesn't happen to you too!

  17. photojane

    cantaloupe / 6164 posts

@ladyfingers: my shower was on a Saturday, and I made myself stop stalking on Wednesday. At that point there was only like 5 things purchased! I guess most people do their shopping on the day before or day of because I ended up with about 25 things off of my registry (it was a small registry since our parents bought us the big stuff). I wouldn't sweat it. Maybe try taking a break from it like I did

  18. ladyfingers

    pomelo / 5331 posts

@ValentineMommy: Yeah I did that to (in anticipation) and left out like the stroller, bouncer, breast pump, etc. and it's still around $1,000. And that doesn't even include the fun cute stuff that I'd really like to get like the blanket I picked out, a Sophie, etc. We'll see what happens between now and Sunday -- I hope you're able to find the retailers for most of that clothing and return it in exchange for some stuff you need! I have the feeling lots of people buy baby clothes at Target and Walmart, so at least you could maybe find some of the stuff you registered for at those places.

I hope you feel better, I feel terrible for you!

  19. ladyfingers

    pomelo / 5331 posts

@photojane: Oh man I wish I could stop myself. I'll be stalking until I leave for the shower, I bet. It's a good idea, though... I'll try

My biggest fear actually is that a lot of people won't end up coming. That's what happened at my bridal shower -- a bunch of people didn't even bother RSVP'ing, so while I'd invited about 20 people, only around 7 showed up.

  20. photojane

    cantaloupe / 6164 posts

@ValentineMommy: don't feel like you have to get everything at BRU! There are some awesome online deal sites where you can get strollers, bottles, swings, etc for WAY cheaper. Plus, places like Target and Walmart are generally cheaper for things like bottles, pacifiers, bath tubs, etc. We only got one item of baby gear from BRU after our shower (the RNP) only because I had a coupon and gift card! Our travel system and swing were both half the price on nobetterdeal.com!

@lolabee: Your nursery is looking great! Other than the hip pain, I'm feeling good. Some days are better than others.

@Phillybaby2013: I rearranged my pillows last night so I have a little more support on my back so that I could sleep on my back at an angle to relieve pressure on my hips and not fully be on my back. It helped so much! Glad to hear that you found a daycare you like. I can't believe the busy weekend you had! I'm exhausted just reading about it NYC sounds fun though. I have always wanted to go there during the holidays.

@ValentineMommy: @ladyfingers: I am able to work from home on Tuesdays and Thursdays and it seriously saves me! Is that something that your employers would allow?

I need that app that you ladies are talking about. I received extra boppy's and bouncers and no gift receipts.

  22. ValentineMommy

    pomelo / 5791 posts

@ladyfingers: Thanks! I'll get over it At least I'll know in the end that I did everything I needed to in order to take care of our little man - with or without anyone's help! Your second fear also happened to us as well - 1/2 of DH's family just didn't show up, after RSVPing that they were coming. And since it was in a restaurant, my mom had to pay for them anyway! Ugh. I looked at my registry up until 1 hour beforehand lol.

@photojane: We'll definitely be shopping around for the leftover stuff. We registered at buybuybaby, which is, for whatever reason, cheaper than babies r us on most things we registered for. I always comparison shop, but nothing beats those 20% off bed bath and beyond coupons at buybuybaby!

@WALLAROO: I work at home on Monday's and Friday's, and at first that was awesome, but now I'm starting to feel like I need another day at home! Working from bed is great lol

  23. ladyfingers

    pomelo / 5331 posts

@ValentineMommy: Man, people are so rude. I've been on a rant about this for weeks. We are having a holiday party at work and I'm in charge of planning, etc. and inevitably, I'm hunting down RSVPs the day we need to get the final count to catering. I know it's just an evite, but I put "RSVP by xxx," I send a reminder email, I send ANOTHER reminder email, evite sends a reminder email, and I always have like 10 people who didn't bother to RSVP and then when I have to truck my 8-month-pregnant body around the building to hunt them down they're all, oh I didn't think we needed to RSVP. HOW MANY OF THESE HAVE YOU BEEN TO. Right, like the caterer will just bring some food and we hope we have enough. Anyway I know it's not the same thing but I just don't understand people anymore! I also had some people tell me, "Oh I'm coming to your shower" or, "Did I miss your shower? When is it again?" And when I would tell them great, please call the number on the invitation to RSVP they're like, "oh." Like she just put that there FOR FUN.

Haha I sound like such an ingrate.

@WALLAROO: They wouldn't be open to it. I'm just assuming this. Plus I'm scared to ask. They have been so great about all my extra doctor's appointments, are giving me 12 weeks off even though we have like 10 employees, and are paying for half my maternity leave just because. I feel like they're already doing so much. And nobody here works from home, ever. Plus I wouldn't be able to access any of my files -- I have a desktop at work, not a laptop. It would just be a big old pain. And frankly, I wouldn't be much more comfortable at home -- in fact, I'm actually more comfortable in my desk chair than I am on the couch or in bed -- and would probably stress out that they're going to fire me because they see that I don't need to be here for them to continue operating lol.

  24. ValentineMommy

    pomelo / 5791 posts

@ladyfingers: Right??? It's like everyone assumes 1. you'll just remember everyone who randomly tells you "I'm coming" or 2. you're magically supposed to know if they're showing up or not. Ugh. I totally understand.

@ValentineMommy: I started out working from home on Mondays and Fridays too but I think going into the office three days in a row was just too hard for my body. I work from my recliner which has been nice too.

@ladyfingers: Bummer that it isn't an option for you. So annoying that people don't RSVP. It's common courtesy people!

@Phillybaby2013: Thank you! The more prepared feeling is so awesome!! Glad you liked your class too. The windows in that room are my fav Just need to put up some black outs up there now. Sounds like a great plan to put a deposit on a spot and keep your options open!
@ladyfingers: Saw your post to Phillybaby2013 re: Breastfeeding books, I just started The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding written by La Leche League, seems to be great so far. And thanks for the compliment on the nursery I think most of the people going to your shower will purchase on the weekend, don't worry your pretty self about it! And I am crossing my fingers for you that lots of ladies make an appearance
@shopaholic: Thank you!! I got the rug from Etsy, the seller was wonderful to deal with. Thinking we'll add lilac/lavender accents if a girl and a teal for a boy.
@WALLAROO: Thank you! Glad to hear you are feeling well!

  27. JessiBee

    kiwi / 733 posts

@ladyfingers: Is everything REALLY necessary before the baby is born, or just shortly afterwards? I know people who won't buy presents until after baby's birth, so I'm trying to be conservative on what we NEED before birth (like, a car seat), knowing that some people will wait until just afterwards to buy a gift. It will, no question, stress me out a lot, but if there are things that can wait, they're going to! That said, I'm not having a pre-baby-shower; some of the ladies from my synagogue are probably throwing a shower to which baby will be invited!

@lolabee: Love the nursery...especially the way the ceiling (AWESOME) goes with the rug without matching exactly. If you end up with a girl, and lilac/lavender accents, our nurseries will have similar color schemes! Except that right now we have nothing done except the paint job and an empty dresser. Working on that. Crib should be delivered by early January. Anyone have favorite sources for inexpensive rugs?

@photojane: That is awesome to know about being able to return without receipts. Because you're right...we can all use up store credit to those stores in the blink of an eye!

@WALLAROO: I've been playing with pillows and angles too! I have found a way to have a giant pillow kind of underneath me so I can sleep closer to on my stomach, which is amazing. Why hasn't anyone started selling a giant donut-shaped pillow for us yet, so that we can stomach sleep with a bump cutout?!

@ValentineMommy: Jealous of your work-at-home days! I've been putting in really, really long days at work recently, and I can't wait to get through next week when the schedule should lighten up with winter break...and then hopefully do more working from home in January as necessary. If only I can figure out how to be productive from home...

  28. ladyfingers

    pomelo / 5331 posts

@JessiBee: yeah, I divided it into "would like to have before baby is here" (diapers, wipes, breast feeding stuff, pacifiers, sheets, first aid stuff, baby monitor, burp cloths, toiletries, etc), "don't need" (extra blankets, bouncer, toys, etc), and "can wait" (stroller, breast pump, solid feeding supplies). The stuff I'd like before adds up to $800, the "can wait" is around $1000! Sheesh, it adds up. That being said, we already bought our car seat ourselves and our crib mattress and baby carrier (Boba) have been purchased so those are some bigger ticket items out of the way.

@JessiBee: Yea, it's really awesome that we can work at home. On the day's I'm feeling really crappy, they'll let me throw in a couple extra here and there as well, which helps. I'm hoping to work from home for the last 2 weeks as well, but we'll see what the boss says!

@ladyfingers: I feel your pain! I told DH how much all the stuff we had left to buy cost, and he almost lost his mind. He doesn't understand how expensive it all is until you look at each and every item! They all add up. To a lot!

oh man, I'm SO behind on this thread!! I just read through all of the posts that I missed, and I also cannot believe that February is right around the corner!

I had my baby shower on Sunday, and it was so great to get together with friends!! It was a co-ed shower, so there was a huge dessert display along with beverages like beer and sparkling cider. We actually got a lot of items from our amazon registry, and only a few clothes. They were all from either baby gap or carter's, but since I haven't purchased ANY clothes myself, they are actually great and I plan on keeping everything.

Today's 31 weeks and 3 days for me, and unfortunately, I caught some sort of cold over the weekend, so it's been a bit miserable for me the last couple of days. Weather in New England has been very up and down in terms of temps, so I think that may have something to do with it as well!

@shopaholic - welcome to the feb board! I've seen your posts on the "show your baby bump" thread, and I totally agree - you always have such a fashionable bump!!

@smock - welcome to the board! You definitely are all belly - love the bump pic!

@ladyfingers - hahaha, definitely agree with you about the belly button comment. Mine totally looks the same way, and hasn't quite popped out completely yet. You can see it through clothes though so I'm betting it actually looks popped out to others!

@lolabee - I'm actually in the middle of reading Ina May's guide to childbirth, and I'm definitely enjoying all of the positive birth stories! I'm getting a little anxious though and am tempted to skip to the second half of the book where she apparently will talk about techniques?? Also, LOVING your nursery so far! Mine is not looking quite as complete, but it's slowly getting there.

@Phillybaby2013 - wow, definitely a busy weekend! congrats on selecting a daycare! you must be so relieved that it's checked off of your list of to-do's.

@ValentineMommy - it sounds like all of these girls have given you hope that you'll be able to get store credit back for a bunch of the clothes that you received at your shower!

Happy Friday ladies! I had an appointment yesterday and everything looks good. Baby Girl is still breech and facing my back and Baby Boy is head down. Baby Girl is running out of space to turn so if she stays in this position it looks like I will be headed for a c-section sometime in late January. I'm bummed about this but there is nothing I can do. My OB has started doing internal checks which isn't too fun. Starting next week I will also be starting NST's and going in weekly. I can't believe I'm already at this point! Today is my work shower so that should be fun. We also plan on attacking our projects checklist this weekend.

What is everyone else up to this weekend?

@wallaroo - hope you're feeling better these days. My nose is still totally plugged up majority of the time, but my coughing is only every now and then, so it's not too bad. Sorry to hear that your baby girl is still breech! turn baby turn!

oh my... internal checks don't sound fun at all. I don't think I get to start those until early January.. I might ask that they don't do them at all unless it's actually medically necessary.

This weekend, I'm doing a hospital tour with my husband - they get to show you the labor and delivery ward, and give you information on check-in, and I think stuff that you do/don't need to bring with you when you deliver. Hopefully, it's useful!

  35. WALLAROO

    kiwi / 711 posts

@Emilie: Yeah, if you are able to avoid the internal checks I would do that. I don't really have a choice :). We did the hospital tour. I think the most helpful thing to find out is where to park and enter if arriving after hours.

  36. ladyfingers

    pomelo / 5331 posts

@WALLAROO: I know what you mean about getting to "that point"! I also have to start going in weekly starting next week, and doing weekly NSTs and biophysical profiles w/ultrasound every 4 weeks (first one will be next week, second one at 37 weeks) because of the GD. I don't know when they'll start internal checks, hopefully not for a few more weeks!!

As for this weekend, tomorrow I have absolutely nothing to do (OK, I should clean up a bit and wash our sheets and I do need to wrap DH's Christmas presents, but we have no commitments) and then Sunday is my shower! So excited.

I can't believe that the week after next, I'll have two three-day weeks in a row because of the holidays, and by then we'll be in January and on a serious countdown to baby boy! EEK!

@LOLABEE: We had a lot of visitors popping over the first couple of weeks, and I hated it! It was just so hard because we were trying to establish BF and I was super sleep deprived and didn't feel like entertaining. Lots of times I ended up coming down to say hi and then leaving to go nurse upstairs. When we went back to the US, my MIL set up an open house and it was so much better just to have everyone show up on the same day. It was a lot more manageable not having to feel like I needed to look presentable or struggle with a nursing cover.

@SHOPAHOLIC: welcome! I'm at the end of the month, so was thinking of checking out the March boards, but that would be somewhat depressing if you know what I mean.

@SMOCKS: welcome! I had IUGR with my first but everything turned out fine! I totally understand the worry though.

@PHOTOJANE: "pregnancy does not agree with me!" ditto. I think there is no more room- I've reached capacity! haha…

@LADYFINGERS: We didn't need our baby monitor right away at all! Unless you're planning on putting LO in his own room right away…that should save you some $$ for now. Also good luck with the shower!

Around here, we just came back from a trip to Chile! It was totally last minute, but at least I got a break from the routine, and we managed one more vacation as a family of 3! The next month is going to be a marathon on our to do list- house projects, toddler projects. Considering how slow I am, I'm sort of worried about how it will all get done!

@Emilie: @Baby Boy Mom: Thanks for the welcome ladies! And I think you can totally stop in the March Mommas boards, but I'm with you...would rather have baby come earlier than later.

@Emilie: Yay for a great shower! Glad you actually like and can use the clothes! So nice when that works out!
@WALLAROO: Hope your shower went well!
@ladyfingers: Oh! I'm sure your shower will be wonderful! Hopefully people just didn't mark things off the registry and/or you get even more useful gift cards!

@ladyfingers: have you had your shower yet?! can't wait to hear how it went!

@Emilie: i actually already had my first internal check & i'm carrying a singleton. they did one at 28 weeks, and she said i'll start having them at every appointment beginning at 34 weeks. it actually wasn't bad at all - it was super quick and i really didn't feel anything! i'm totally into them because i am impatient and will need to know how close i am!

@WALLAROO: though the c-section part doesn't sound fun, at least you get to meet your little ones sooner! the end of january is SO CLOSE! how did your work shower go?!
