@ladyfingers: I'm right there with you! 28-29 weeks, and I'm spent. Last week I started the "I can't wait until he is out of me" talk with....well, everyone. Seriously. I want my body back to myself.
Anyone else have seriously dry skin (on their face)? I all the sudden look super scaly.

EDD: February 28
How far along?: 27 weeks, 4 days
Baby name: Luisa Noelle
Recent Milestone: 3rd trimester at last! Passed GD test, so no more stressing about holiday sweets.
Weight gain: 23ish lbs...kind of fluctuates.
Nursery status: We are moving in the fall and just doing a temporary setup, but we have most of the decor together and just bought a crib. Working on a ruffled lampshade that is kicking my butt at the moment.
Most annoying symptom?: Groin pain! Particularly noticeable when getting in/out of the car.
What are you looking forward to most?: Holding our sweet little baby!
Next Appointment?: December 13
Team?: Pink
How are you feeling?: Still pretty good. It's getting harder to stand up when I sit on the floor and my feet hurt when I get up every morning, but nothing too extreme.
Is the third trimester what you expected?: I'm just creeping into it so I can't say yet.
What are you researching?: How to prep/wash our cloth diapers
What do you have left to buy?: We'll know after our showers!
Is your hospital bag packed?: Nope
Have you had your baby shower?: Not yet--I have a small one with friends in a couple of weeks and a bigger one in mid-Jan
What are you most worried about?: Health problems in general
Upload a recent bump photo!: Can't really do that at work but I'll try to remember at home later. My bump is not nearly as awesome as you other ladies because I'm not as far along!

@ladyfingers - hahaha, yes, the baby feet thing is so weird!! but really fun at the same time
@Photojane, @ladyfingers, @Phillybaby2013 - yay for bump photos! you all look great!
EDD: February 10
How far along?: 30 weeks and 1 day
Baby name: waiting to reveal after she's born!
Recent Milestone: this little girl has had hiccups at least twice a day for the last week!
Weight gain: 14lbs as of 29 weeks and 4 days
Nursery status: half way done? painting, decal, artwork, overhead light, changing table, & crib done. still need to do a possible DIY mobile, buy a glider, side table, and buy an Elfa closet system
Most annoying symptom?: itchy belly - I've got these patches of dry skin on the left and right side of my belly that have been there since week 14. Some days they are fine, and other days they get super itchy.. I've been using tummy butter and Sarna for relief!
What are you looking forward to most?: our baby shower this Sunday, 12/9.. and then of course meeting the little one
Next Appointment?: This Thursday, 12/6
Team?: pink!
How are you feeling?: pretty good! Still going to the gym, and still able to do most things. Stairs suck though, and getting up from sitting on the ground sucks.
Is the third trimester what you expected?: I thought I would be a lot more tired, but it's still early in the third trimester, and I think it will probably hit me in a few weeks!
What are you researching?: DIY felt mobiles, DIY headbands, gliders, and childbirth books.
What do you have left to buy?: LOTS of the little stuff, but hopefully the list will go down after the baby shower this weekend!
Is your hospital bag packed?: not at all.. I have a hospital tour set for 12/15 though, so hopefully after that, I'll have a better idea of what the hospital provides and what I need to bring.
Have you had your baby shower?: Nope, it's this Sunday, 12/9!
What are you most worried about?: I really really hope my baby is healthy, and I am looking forward to meeting her just so I know that she's ok!!
Upload a recent bump photo!: I just took this in my bathroom today at work =P

EDD: February 25
How far along?: 28 weeks
Baby name: Still no decisions! we haven't even had one conversation about it yet. I think we both have other things on our mind to resolve first.
Recent Milestone: Doc agreed to VBAC!
Weight gain: 20 lbs...definitely gaining more than I did with my first!
Nursery status: None! Need to transition our toddler to a twin so we can reuse the crib. Planning on doing that in January.
Most annoying symptom?: getting up/down takes way too much effort, and not having a memory anymore!
What are you looking forward to most?: meeting Baby Brother!
Next Appointment?: End of Dec.
Team?: blue
How are you feeling?: Mostly tired a lot and heavy, but in a good mood.
Is the third trimester what you expected?: Yup, and there's still a while to go.
What are you researching? everything VBAC, considering hiring a doula, potty training a young toddler- still not sure if we will go through with it, but it would be nice to have one kid out of diapers...
What do you have left to buy?: Not much, just went on a big shopping trip this month.
Is your hospital bag packed?: Nope
Have you had your baby shower?: N/A
What are you most worried about?: Having another c-section for sure, and a healthy baby of course!

EDD: February 15
How far along?: 29 weeks
Baby name: Secret 'til the big day!
Recent Milestone: Not sure - movement has definitely changed and feels 'bigger' - I'm not totally sure but I *think* she may have moved to the head down position. Things just feel different and I am almost sure I felt hiccups wayyyy low!
Weight gain: I think I'm up 18-20!
Nursery status: Ummm...we've finally cleared out the room. Basically waiting for our shower because our family got us all the big stuff. I have a plan and decorations ordered. It probably won't be done until after Christmas.
Most annoying symptom?: I'm actually feeling really great - I had some annoying swelling in the 2nd tri and it has basically gone away! Maybe due to change in baby's position? I had terrible heartburn but it hasn't been as bad over the past few weeks. I do have an awful cold though
What are you looking forward to most?: Having the nursery all done and just having her arrive a healthy baby!
Next Appointment?: 12/5
Team?: pink
How are you feeling?: Pretty good! Just this stupid cold!
Is the third trimester what you expected?: I don't know. I haven't had a difficult pregnancy so far, so I wasn't expecting anything terrible. I still have a good energy level but I know that might change any time now!
What are you researching? birth, pediatricians
What do you have left to buy?: Not quite sure until after the shower.
Is your hospital bag packed?: No - another after Christmas project!
Have you had your baby shower?: Not yet - it's this coming Sunday!
What are you most worried about?: Just that she'll be healthy and that we'll have a healthy birth experience.

@ValentineMommy: So cool about the jabs from body parts! I forgot about our maternity shoot lol I am excited about that too. Enjoy your shower this weekend!
@ladyfingers: The lopsided times always make me giggle. LOL about the hair washing...I too have ditched that. It gets washed probably every 4 days? That being said I'm finding my hair much more dry during pregnancy. My sister has curly hair, she swears her curls cooperate much better when her hair is dirty - tell yourself that when you don't feel like washing
@WALLAROO: Glad to hear you are still sleeping well and you had fun at your shower. I will say a lil prayer for you to keep those babes in there for as long as possible!
@JessiBee: One of our fav's for a boy is a Hebrew name, excited to hear yours if that's what it ends up being! Still haven't done much for registry, thanks for reminding me. I'm with ya on the sleep - I don't function well at all without it. Everyone just keeps telling me you get used to it....here's hoping! My sister was asking me the other day if I would like to have the shower after the baby comes. (I didn't want one originally but I was 'told' by my friends that since I got out of one for the wedding I HAD to have one for the baby! lol) If you don't mind me asking will you be having a baby naming for your girl? If so, soon after birth? I guess I'm just curious since we're team green, if you think it will be too much going on with a bris/baby naming and a shower?
@tororojo: Congrats on passing your GD test! Another cloth diapering Mama - what brands are you going with? I am not so patiently waiting for mine to arrive at the door. Not sure if you are keen on Chiropractors but I started seeing one that came highly recommended by our doula and she's done wonders for me - including groin pain. I'd actually go to say my pelvis/pubic bone/sacrum feel better now than pre-preggo!
@Emilie: Love the hiccups such a funny feeling. A friend suggested trying coconut oil for the tummy, apparently it's good for muscles too - I'm trying it out tonight will let you know if the itching subsides. Have fun at your shower this weekend. You look wonderful BTW!
@Baby Boy Mom: Names are so hard!! Congratulations on getting doc's approval for the vbac, exciting!
@JerricaBenton: I think you're the closest to me for EDD. Hope you feel better soon! Enjoy your shower this weekend!

@lolabee: We have BG Freetimes, BG 4.0s and Econobums (which are prefolds). We were just planning on Freetimes but then MIL went crazy on the Cottonbabies site and we ended up with a ridiculous amount of diapers...I'm excited to see what works for us! They are all so cute; I'm sure you'll have fun playing around with yours when they arrive. We have yet to start washing/prepping but are starting to research it...do you know what detergent you're using?
pomelo / 5331 posts
@lolabee: Most curly haired folks do better on no washing, but my hair is extremely fine so I'm an exception! It sucks. I was so upset this morning, I washed my hair yesterday morning and put it back wet so it was totally weird and not at all my normal curls, I wasn't planning on washing this morning so I slept in and was going to put it back and then I remembered I have a haircut tonight with a new guy! So I had to wash it so he can see what my hair "normally" looks like. Ugh! Such a hassle
kiwi / 662 posts
@tororojo: So exciting! Sounds like a great stash. DH thinks I'm a little crazy, never thought someone could be so excited about diapers. I have ordered the Rockin' Green Bare Naked Babies as well as their pail deodorizer. It seemed to be the way to go after asking the HB'ers. They have different types of detergent suited for hard and soft water as well.

@ladyfingers: Missed your post while I was replying. That is super annoying - I find doing my hair a pain in the butt at the best of times. Let alone having to do it to go and have it undone again
kiwi / 711 posts
@ladyfingers: @lolabee: Glad to hear I'm not the only one that is being more lax in the hair washing department. I only wash my hair about two times a week now but use dry shampoo in between washes.
Just got back from a prenatal massage and it was fabulous. If you ladies haven't had one yet, definitely book one! Also check with your insurance. You might just have to pay a co-pay instead of the full amount. It is so worth it.

So I had my first doctor appointment today since the GD diagnosis and I feel so much better. Last time I didn't know what questions to ask so I just was whirling with anxiety about what my numbers should be, if they'd automatically induce me, etc. Well, first my doctor allows higher numbers than the "ideal" blood sugar range the home health company gave me - under 100 (rather than 90) for fasting and under 140 (rather than 129) 1 hour after meals. I've had a couple of fastings in the 90s and post-meals in the 130s, but all of them have been under the doctor's max, and most well under. So he was really happy and said its very well controlled right now. Not only that but as long as it stays that way, there are no plans to induce or section. I'll start having non-stress tests every week starting at 34 weeks and biophysical profiles at 33 and 37 weeks to check baby's size - all just as a precaution.
So anyway, I feel much less anxious about having GD. As a side bonus, I actually LOST 2 pounds in the past 2 weeks! A weird feeling when pregnant, but I know it's just because I haven't been eating cookies and chips all day. Belly is measuring spot on at 31 weeks.

@lolabee: I just thought I would chime in about the shower. With our first LO we had both a shower and a bris and it was not too much at all. Granted in our situation we didn't have much overlap with guests, but the thing is that the shower is about You, whereas the bris is totoally about the Baby.
kiwi / 733 posts
@lolabee: We are definitely planning to have a baby naming for our girl, probably on the same day that there would have been a bris if it were a boy--I like the equality of it! I know there are some people who want to do a post-baby-birth shower for me, so we will probably do that at some point, but I have no idea exactly when, so maybe...a few weeks after she's born, a couple weeks after the naming? I'm not really sure, so I guess I'll wait and see! But I agree with @Baby Boy Mom: the shower is about mom (and maybe dad, too); the bris is about the baby.
I'm a curly-haired girl too, and I always used to wash my hair every day. Eventually enough different hairdressers scolded me for it, and I'm trying hard to cut down on shampoos to about every third day or so--and I do notice a (good) difference! But it's part of my shower routine, and without a shower my hair is a scary mess, so I've managed to stick to (almost) every morning, even though sleeping and everything else is getting increasingly difficult and uncomfortable.
@ladyfingers: So glad you're feeling better about your GD after this doctor's appointment! I know it's been a tough last couple of weeks for you, so here's hoping the next couple are much, much better!
pomelo / 5791 posts
@lolabee: Thank you! Oh, I'm excited to hear there are other mama's planning on CDing in the Feb group! We just organized our stash last night! We have mostly BG 4.0s and BG Elementals, as well as Grovia Hybrids, but we have a few Lotus Bums, Diaper Rite's, and Rumparoozs. We are also planning on trying Charlie Banana's. As for laundry, we have rockin green and also charlie's soap.
@WALLAROO: I would kill someone for a prenatal massage!
@ladyfingers: So glad you're feeling better about the GD. I'm glad you're managing it well!
I'm also curly haired as well. I could make it a good 3-4 days without washing if I didn't straighten my bangs. They end up looking really gross after two days. My hair is totally dry.

ah.. sorry i've been mia! i'm having this terrible shoulder blade pain, and i can't really do much of anything with my right arm. a nurse friend of mine told me she thinks it's referred pain from my pelvic/abdomen area, and i think she may be right. i was having terrible pelvic bone/pubic area pain for the past few weeks, but as soon as the shoulder pain started, i haven't felt any pain in my downstairs. but, girls... it's excruciating!
i loved reading through all the updates, and seeing all the beautiful bumps! i'm glad everyone is doing well. i can't believe we're getting so close. i'm so ready to have this little girl out of me!!

@WALLAROO: I hear you on the prenatal massage, sooo good!
@ladyfingers: Really happy to hear things are going well and your anxiety has lessened. I think it will be smooth from here on out for you
@Baby Boy Mom: Perfect, great to hear! We wouldn't really have much overlap either. Maybe it would be best to do it afterwards...it would probably make things easier with visitors too. Less pop overs. I've had a few of my friends comment that it just got so overwhelming having so many visitors all the time. Appreciated at the same time of course! Any advice?
@JessiBee: Love that idea!!! I will bring that up to my MIL, thank you!
@ValentineMommy: Me too! I'm sure we'll have lots of the same questions/experiences and at the same time a good source of info for each other. I can't wait to start washing/organizing - I'm not so patiently waiting for them to show up on my doorstep! Do you have any newborns? I am still on the fence whether to buy or not.
@photojane: Oh no! That doesn't sound fun at all, I hope it goes away soon.
I had my GD test today (I think I am the last out of our Feb group), I had to fast since 10 last night and my appt was at 10:40. I felt terrible from not eating, then we had to wait quite awhile. Got lucky and scored a bed, proceeded to come close to passing out (after she was done the draw) a couple of times, such a hot mess!! Then the lady told me I was doing a two hour test - a few big gulps into the drink...I say no, I am supposed to be doing the one hour, this is my first test. Long story short the resident doctor ordered the wrong test. They give me a different drink to down and come back in an hour after my prenatal. I'm crossing my fingers that the amount of the first drink I consumed doesn't tip the scales on my sugar levels!! That would be sad. My draws didn't hurt one bit but my left arm resembles that of an iv drug user

Hi ladies! Happy Friday!
I can't believe that we are in or nearing the final 10 weeks! I'm starting to read more about labour, and I'm not going to lie...it's some nerve wracking stuff. I guess that's why I put reading about labour off until the 3rd trimester. Ring of fire?! Transition? Ack!

@Mrs. Lantern: The words "ring of fire" terrify me. Birth seems so surreal...I can't imagine being to that point right now!

Hi Feb. Ladies! Popping in here to lurk a bit from the March board. DD is March 9th, but kind of hoping or expecting an early girl (nothing scientific, only because DH and I were both born almost a whole month early).
Just wanted to say HI! And let y'all know I was reading.
pomelo / 5331 posts
@Mrs. Lantern: It's TOTALLY overwhelming. I bought "The Birth Partner" and now I'm like obsessed with getting DH to read it. I'm like OMG we're going to totally forget all this breathing stuff and what if he doesn't brush his teeth I'll KILL HIM. hahaha. But I'm getting so excited!!
@shopaholic: Welcome to the February board! I sometimes wonder if I should pop into the January board since I'm due Feb. 3, but I'm too intimidated lol.
grapefruit / 4669 posts
@shopaholic: I hope you go a little early! I was born a month early, but my doctor says that shouldn't affect LO's birth. Nonetheless, I'm hoping for mid-Feb instead of the last day.
@ladyfingers: It's weird being at the end/beginning of the month, I think--I'm way behind most of the Feb mamas and way ahead of most of the March ones!
apricot / 359 posts
@ladyfingers: I'll have to look into that book! Have you thought about birthing plans yet? I feel like I should but how do I know what I need/want when I have no idea what it feels like/what I'll be experiencing?
At this point all I know is that I'll like to get as much rest as I can at home during pre labour and try to sleep through the contractions to have energy for the big push (apparently it could be hours long for the first time moms!) The rest...I'm unsure!
@shopaholic: thanks for popping by to say hi! visitors are always welcomed
@tororojo: I didn't think about this whole labour business until 2 weeks ago. Once it hits you, you can't stop thinking about it LOL.
pomelo / 5331 posts
@Mrs. Lantern: I just have some basic birth preferences. I'm not sure yet if I'll be putting them into written form yet. It's essentially:
1. I don't want a c-section unless absolutely medically necessary
2. I don't want to be induced unless absolutely medically necessary (which includes breaking my water or giving me Pitocin, Cervadil, etc.)
3. I want to try to breastfeed after birth so if they need to put an IV in, I want them to put it in an optimal place for breastfeeding (like, not on the inside of my left arm).
4. I don't want any internal monitoring unless absolutely necessary.
5. I want to know when the "last call for an epidural" [I want to go as long as I can without one and I have no clue how long that might be, could very well be at 1 cm lol]
Ummm... that's pretty much it. The hospital already has a kangaroo care policy and doesn't do routine episiotomies (nor does my doctor). IDK, am I missing anything important?!
kiwi / 711 posts
@Mrs. Lantern: Seriously! Couldn't they have called it something else?
@shopaholic: Welcome to the February board. I also was contemplating popping into the January board too since I will deliver in January but I have been with the February ladies this whole time. I might just pop in and introduce myself as well.
@ladyfingers: Sorry to hear about the stretch marks :(. That reminds me, I need to write my birth preferences!
Here is my silhouette bump photo from yesterday at 30 weeks 5 days
apricot / 359 posts
@ladyfingers: thanks for sharing your birthing preferences...it's helping me to start thinking about mine. I like how you kept yours general and to the point!
pomelo / 5331 posts
@Mrs. Lantern: Oh I guess I should add -- no forceps or vacuum! And that I want to be notified of everything that happens and the reason before it happens (like, warn me if you need to use forceps).
kiwi / 733 posts
I agree--I had only thought about preferences in the abstract until recently when we started getting much closer, and also after labor class at the hospital, since all of a sudden, my hubby can join the conversation! He has already told me he thinks I'd be nuts not to plan to get an epidural. (I am pretty sure I agree with him, but I want to make sure I don't wimp out too early, and labor as long as I can without it.)
I'm happy to sit right in the middle of the month, although it always feels to me like we have more ladies early in the month (i.e., ahead of me) than later in the month, so I have no doubt that once you all start delivering, I'll be anxious and ready...but with a due date of February 15, I would like to deliver in the month of February. (Little girl, are you listening?!)
I cannot believe how close we're getting. The December ladies are something like halfway done (anyone else stalking that thread?!), then comes January, and then us!! Yikes. And YAY. Wow.

Just finished catching up on the last couple weeks of this board... sorry I've been MIA! Everyone's bumps are soo cute, and @Ladyfingers, I'm so glad your last appointment went well and that your numbers are looking good!
I just had my 28-week appointment today, and the doc measured my fundal height for the first time and we're measuring on track. He gave me the kick count worksheet to fill out too. This is the same doc that delivered my first, so I'm pretty familiar with everything. Starting from this point on though, I'll have appointments every 2 weeks - my next one is 12/21.
EDD: Feb 28th
How far along?: 28 weeks 5 days
Baby name: Jaren David
Recent Milestone: lots of movement - constantly... day and night and whenever I eat/drink.
Weight gain: 22 pounds as of today's doc appt.
Nursery status: our 2nd isn't going to have a nursery for the first few months of his life, he'll be in our room. My SIL lives with us right now and she's looking to move out... so once she moves out that will become his nursery, but she may not move until mid-next year when she finishes her Master's.
Most annoying symptom?: Back and pelvic pain. It's not easy chasing a toddler who LOVES to be held by mama while pregnant again. I have not done any physical activity in a few weeks, not even walking around the block! I really should...
What are you looking forward to most?: We're going to watch Celine Dion in Vegas in January! Excited for that trip.
Next Appointment?: In 2 weeks - 12/21
Team?: BLUE!
How are you feeling?: Blah... tired, heartburn, constipation, aches and pains... I'm over pregnancy, but thankful it hasn't been a difficult or high risk one.
Is the third trimester what you expected?: Yes, since I've been through it before.
What are you researching?: Cord blood banking. I didn't do it with my first, but I'm rethinking it with my 2nd. And the doc said that I'd be able to use his cord blood with siblings too... so it's a lot to consider.
What do you have left to buy?: Nothing - we're borrowing a rock 'n play and an arm's reach co-sleeper from friends. We'll reuse N's crib for this baby once a room is free for us to use as a nursery.
Have you had your baby shower?: Nope, I wasn't expecting one this time around, but my friend really wanted to throw us one - it'll be towards the end of January!
What are you most worried about?: Nothing... it's been a pretty smooth pregnancy and I researched the heck out of everything with my first.
Upload a recent bump photo!: I have not taken a single bump photo this whole pregnancy! Poor Baby Jaren... I took one every week with his older sister and blogged about it too.

Hi all! I'm new here, but I'm expecting a February baby so I figured I'd fit in here, haha
Here's my little intro like you guys have posted this past week.
EDD: February 11
How far along?: 30w5d
Baby name: We have a list of 5, but won’t officially name her until we see her (I want to be able to change my mind)
Recent Milestone: Had an appointment with a perinatal specialist because my OB thought she may be a bit small, but apparently she’s doing just fine in there
Weight gain: 38 lbs, ugh.
Nursery status: A MESS. It’s a slow work in process.
Most annoying symptom?: swollen feet and carpal tunnel issues (finger numbness at night)
What are you looking forward to most?: getting everything organized for her arrival.
Next Appointment?: 12/19
Team?: Pink!
How are you feeling?: heavy and slow
Is the third trimester what you expected?: I’m not really sure what I expected, but no.
What are you researching?: pumps, bottles, breastfeeding, etc.
What do you have left to buy?: lots of little miscellaneous items
Have you had your baby shower?: yes, and we got SO MANY outfits. And barely any gift receipts.
What are you most worried about?: well, after our scare a couple weeks ago (OB thinking she was small), I’ve had a few freakouts regarding IUGR, but supposedly that’s not a worry at this point. I just want her to be healthy.
Upload a recent bump photo!: I would, but I can’t figure out how! Can anyone explain photo uploads? There’s no link showing up in the “reply” box… Isn't there supposed to be a link under the "subscribe" checkbox? I feel really stupid right now...
eta: just kidding! it popped up. Here's my most recent bump

@smocks: Hi, welcome!! Glad to hear everything is going well with baby's size -- you look awesome so don't worry about the weight gain!! I hear on you feeling big and slow. I hit a point this week where I'm just tired ALL THE TIME after having a couple of awesome weeks where I seemed to have tons of energy. Not fair, I still have so much I want to do! Looking forward to hearing more of your updates and glad you joined us

@ladyfingers: Oh no! I am sorry to hear you have found some stretch marks.
@Mrs. Lantern: those exact words make me really glad we took the Hypnobirthing class! I'm definitely the type of person the more knowledge I have the better I feel about the situation. My sister cringes when she hears me say 'crowning' quite hilarious! I'm not sure what your birthing preferences etc. are but I highly recommend Ina May Gaskin's Guide to Childbirth. Refreshing to read a lot of positive birth stories, just enjoy some of the really granola bits if that's not your thing
@shopaholic: Welcome to the February thread!!
@WALLAROO: Beautiful twin bump you have there
@JessiBee: I can't believe how fast our babies will be here either! December and it's craziness will whip right by...then it's pretty much baby time, time flies.
@Mrs. High Heels: Exciting that you're taking a trip to Vegas, so fun! I have been curious about cord blood banking too...should probably get on that. All my friends with two say the exact thing happened to them with their seconds, goes to show just how busy life is with a toddler!
@smocks: Welcome!!! You look awesome! Glad to have you on our board.
Great news - I passed my GD test despite having the extra glucose, very happy I don't have to do it again I ended up bruising like crazy! My cave like belly button is becoming more and more shallow every day, counting down the days til it pops out.
We finished our HypnoBirthing classes, I thought the instructor was fabulous and the knowledge I gained invaluable. DH said that he feels much more confident and less worried/anxious about everything. Our last class consisted of post partum info and breastfeeding which was great. Baby led latching seems pretty cool and makes sense considering how other mammals work. I was chatting with a friend yesterday and she mentioned that one of her friends also took HypnoBirthing. She has 2 vaginal med-free births under her belt - fingers crossed I'm able to do the same!!
pomelo / 5331 posts
@lolabee: Yay, congrats! My belly button is just awkward. It kinda looks like a butthole. The middle is BROWN!
