@shopaholic - I actually asked my mom if she was early or late with her four kids and she said she had no idea. She never had ultrasounds done and never knew her due date. And she just went to the hospital when her water broke... I was like WHAAA??!? Crazy. So that's no help to me!

@photojane: Glad your baby turned - so did mine! I'm so relieved! I've been afraid to bend over too far because I'm afraid she'll flip back to breech, lol.
We had our last scan (unless the dr. decides we need another one) and baby is estimated at 5 lbs 9 oz! I thought that was big but the tech showed me the chart and it looks like a little bigger than normal. Sometimes I'm afraid she'll run out of room because I have a short torso and it already feels like her butt is under my ribs and her head is very low!
Is anyone getting Valentine's/heart themed coming home outfits? I am a dummy and totally forgot about the umbilical cord situation when I was shopping. Does the coming home outfit have to be separates so it doesn't irritate the nubby?

@JerricaBenton: valentines themed coming home outfit..what a cute idea! So glad your baby turned!
@photojane: yay for Sadie turning!
@shopaholic: thanks! We hired a friend of a friend to do it for us who is starting off. Otherwise I don't think I could justify it if it was more than $300! We're already doing newborn photos! Man these things add up!

@Emilie: What?!?! That's crazzzzy! LOL! I guess ignorance can be bliss though!
@JerricaBenton: @photojane: Yay for babies turning!
@JerricaBenton: I honestly wished that I was due before V-Day just so I could do a Valentine's Day outfit! So cute!
kiwi / 733 posts
@Emilie: WOW I can't imagine not knowing. But the way my mom delivered isn't helpful to me either: all of us were scheduled c-sections, so due date became kind of irrelevant. So, I guess baby will come when baby is good and ready!
@JerricaBenton: I wish I knew how big my baby is! My doctor hasn't mentioned any scans, so I'm not sure what (or if) I get any. I asked about baby position, and the (other) doctor said they really just wait and see when I'm in labor (!!!), but that by then only something like 3% are breech, so I shouldn't worry about it. I'm a worrier by nature, so I have been trying to listen when someone tells me not to!
@Mrs. Lantern: I considered a valentinesy coming home outfit (I'm due 2/15), but I realized that if I leave the hospital on my due date or later, it just looks a little sad! So, since baby may or may not arrive before then, the hearts will wait.
Everyone else...arg, new page = difficult replies! I'm glad the group is back and chatting today though. I get a little jealous of the months I always see at the top of the recent posts lists!

@Mrs. Lantern: @shopaholic: Thanks!
@JessiBee: Does your baby have hiccups? That's how I was pretty sure she turned before the scan. I felt hiccups coming from waaaaay low. I'm due the 15th but I still think a V-day outfit will be cute! Just something with hearts or something, not like it'll say Valentine's Day Baby

@Mrs. High Heels: honestly, I do not like being Team Green at all! I went along because DH was adamant that he wanted it to be a surprise, and I knew I couldn't keep it a secret from him. I'm so anxious to know! Next time we're finding out for sure
@photojane: I'm so glad your baby turned!!! We have an ultrasound scheduled a week from Friday to check baby's position (will be between 36-37 weeks). I have felt the baby try to move quite a bit, but sadly always ends up back in the same spot! It would be a great surprise to find that baby turned on their own... I'm remaining optimistic

Are you ladies feeling any prenatal hiccups? It feels like my whole tummy beats rhythmically when baby lantern has them..and she gets them a few times a day!
blogger / cherry / 192 posts
@Mrs. Lantern: all the time! i can tell the difference from kicks/nudges because of the rhythm

I'm feeling hiccups pretty often! Also, I think my baby is still flipping around in there because quite often I get random bony parts moving across my belly. No rib kicks yet!

@Mrs. Lantern: I felt hiccups once a couple of weeks ago and not since. But I'm only 31 weeks...
kiwi / 733 posts
Yes! I feel hiccups every day or two. And you're right @JerricaBenton: I often feel them really low down, so I'm optimistic that she's hanging out head down. I got my hubby to feel them once. He thought they were really strange, has never asked to feel them again.

@photojane: Yayyyy!!! I'm so glad baby Sadie flipped!!
@Emilie: OMG! I can't live like that. That's nuts! I wish I knew exactly when my baby is coming, I can barely handle an EDD lol.
@JerricaBenton: Yay, I'm so glad yours flipped also! I think separates are probably better while the stump is there there -- I bought a bunch at a consignment store and it was way cheaper!
@Mrs. Lantern: Yes! And I feel like he's either dropped a little or shifted somewhat so his hiccups are practically in my butt. It is so awkward!
@JessiBee: lol whenever bean sticks something out into the middle of my stomach (which is quite often lately and then he falls asleep that way which is really ... painful), I make DH feel it and he always seems very disturbed. Sometimes he flat out declines haha!

Hi ladies!! I hope everyone enjoyed the holidays and brought in the NY happily! I'm realllly far behind posts - hope everyone is feeling great and enjoying the last few weeks of being pregnant!!
@JessiBee: Did you end up finding a rug you liked on Etsy? Florida was wonderful, thank you! Thank you for putting together a list of all our due dates, makes it very exciting! Can't believe how close we are.
@Emilie: Glad you're feeling more confident and relaxed! I;m such a fan of the book. I definitely laugh at some parts though. I do think it may be hard to keep out new people in our rooms, especially if labor goes a bit longer. Thank you for the compliments on the pic, I am feeling boy after the US.
@ladyfingers: Thanks! I'm not 100% sure if the eye is open on this one or not, we could tell for sure on a couple others. To be honest seeing the eyes open was a tad creepy! Do you think boy from the picture?
@Mrs. Lantern: Love your photo!! Makes me really excited to do ours. Looks like you had a lot of fun. I hope your appointment with the chiro goes well, mine has made an absolute world of difference in my pregnancy. Let me know how it goes!
I feel hiccups at LEAST twice a day, so funny because I get hiccups often as well.
@photojane: Happy to hear she flipped!
@JerricaBenton: Yay for flipping babies!!
@Mrs. Markers: Sorry to hear that you're not enjoying being team green. I am glad to have someone on my team for our birth month though It is definitely really hard for buying any clothing, everything is very gender specific. Have you decided what to do for a coming home outfit?
I hope your lil one will cooperate and flip for you. Where are you feeling hiccups? I'm sure you've already been told about this site but in case you haven't, it is spinningbabies dot com. Our doula told us about it, maybe there will be some helpful information for you on there. I will cross my fingers for you!
apricot / 359 posts
@lolabee: Thanks - it was a LOT of fun Glad to hear that the chiro made a difference! how often do you see them?
kiwi / 662 posts
@Mrs. Lantern: I will see her once a week from now until delivery. For the first two weeks I went 3 times a week to get things fixed up the way they should be, then decreased visits to once every two weeks. She doesn't "crack" me she mostly uses this little machine that looks like a tiny gun (varying sizes) but it taps with different degrees of pressure and speed.
blogger / cherry / 192 posts
@lolabee: I splurged and bought one pink and one blue coming-home outfit! I have quite a few friends who are due within the coming months so I figure I'll just gift the one I don't use to one of them. I'm definitely excited about the surprise, since it's so close - I just wish I could stop referring to baby as "it" Did you buy one of each or stick to yellow/green/beige? (we have SO much beige and gray stuff!)
I think I've read spinningbabies from top to bottom - currently trying all of their holistic techniques. There's still hope!
kiwi / 662 posts
@Mrs. Markers: Oh that is such a good idea! I was planning on ordering a really cute white outfit. Then pairing it with either a gender specific hat. I totally agree with the "it" - somehow early on in my pregnancy the baby got the nickname Emby so that's what we call it. I am guilty of referring to it as a he though, just seems to come out! Since the beginning my DH has been convinced its a girl so he' sticking to his guns.
Definitely still hope!! One of my friends LO's turned a couple days after 37 weeks! Good luck with the techniques.

@JerricaBenton: Can you believe our babies are already as big as BABIES?! I mean plenty of babies are born at 5lbs 9oz! It's crazy to think that there's a full size baby inside. Sadie was 4.5 pounds at her 32 week scan, and the tech told us that puts her at 8.5 pounds or more on her due date - eek! I know bigger is better in terms of health, but I'm nervous to push out almost 9lbs of baby! & I think you should totally do a little heart outfit. You don't need to worry about the nubby - as long as the outfit isn't super tight, it will be just fine. One pieces are totally normal/fine!
@Mrs. Markers: Good luck at your 36 week scan! I'll be thinking positive, baby-turning thoughts for you!
@ladyfingers: how have you been feeling? GD behaving?
@lolabee, @Mrs. Markers: I used to want to be team green (before I actually got pregnant & decided I absolutely am not patient enough), so I will be living your excitement vicariously. I can't wait to see what our green babies are!
I started my hospital packing list today, and started throwing odds and ends in my suitcase. A bunch of stuff has been piling up on my vanity, so I decided to just go ahead and put it in the suitcase. It's making it so real... ahhh!

@photojane: I know it's crazy! I told my brother the weight and he was like, OMG you're going to give birth to a toddler! LOL. Thanks - yeah I was wondering if people even put newborns in one pieces and second guessing everything but I guess if it's not tight it should be fine. And the diaper keeps the onesie away from the skin there too, probably. Ugh, I'm sure I'll end up bringing like, 5 outfits to see what works best anyway

Omg you ladies have been busy - I'm so behind!!! I read everyone's updates and I'm gonna try my best to comment. Here goes nothing....
Can't believe you guys with the freezer meals! - that's awesome. Definitely makes me feel super behind, considering I hadn't even thought of doing that!
@lolabee: love the 3D u/s pic! Baby is so sweet. I still give you credit for staying Team Green...glad the chiro helped you. I'm going for a spa day on Saturday (xmas present from DH) and can't wait for my massage! I need it.
@photojane: I'm so happy that lady Sadie flipped!!!! That is amazing news!! Way to go on starting your hospital bag. I printed an online list of items but that's as far as I got. Can't believe our babies will be here soon.
@ladyfingers: glad your NST are going well! And thanks for the swab details. I think I'm getting mine on Monday and maybe my 1st internal so good to know about the butt swab. Haha.
@Mrs. Markers: crossing my fingers that Baby flipped! And good idea to have 2 coming home outfits. Can't wait to find out what our Team Green babies are!
@Emilie: I read that book too. It was nice to have a different perspective than what I'm used to hearing since everyone I've talked to thought I was crazy for trying to go natural. This made it seem more doable if I decide I can handle it.
@JerricaBenton: that's great about Baby's size and being head down! It's crazy that if our babies came right now, they would be full size babies and be fine....I bought a one-piece V-Day outfit for Baby Boy and I didn't consider that nub but I'm sure it will be fine. I did pick up a couple NB side snap shirts tho for this reason.
@Mrs. Lantern: I feel hiccups atleast twice a day. They're always super low in my pelvis. It feels so weird some days.
@JessiBee: thanks for updating our list!! It's so exciting seeing all the January momma starting to have their babies - then we're next! Ahhhh!
@Wallaroo: I'm sorry Baby Girl isn't cooperating but I can't believe you have a definite date now for the Babies! I wonder if you'll be first or if we'll have any other early birds??? Several people have said that they think I'll go early but who really knows - except maybe Baby! ; )
@shopaholic: I guess only time will tell if you'll be a Feb or March momma! Hopefully Baby doesn't hang out for too long in there!
Phhhewww! I hope I got everyone (sorry to those I missed!) I need to do this more often to keep up with you guys!
Holidays were good here. Pretty low key but that's not bad this year. Now to get everything put away so we can start putting all the fun baby paraphernalia together.
I have my first weekly appt. on Monday and not sure if there will be an internal involved. Tuesday we have our breastfeeding class and Saturday I'm doing a Mommy-to-Be package at the spa- Can't freaking wait for that.
Baby is running out of room and his movements feel constant and big. His back/butt are always pressing out above my belly button. Has anyone else been having more BH? I get them a couple times a day especially at work.
I have good work news!! - I currently work till 5 and hate it and have been super worried about getting Baby home from daycare and not having alot of time with him. A position opened up so I asked my boss if I could switch times and she suggested me coming in even earlier than I asked for!! I'll now be getting done at 4 and am super relieved and excited.
To end my novel of a post here's some updated Nursery pics...we're almost done!!! I'm so happy how it's turning out. We did the decal NY eve at 1 am and I spent several hours today sewing the crib skirt...Sorry if these come out big.

@Phillybaby2013: Oh the nursery is coming along so beautifully! I'm super impressed you made your own crib skirt! My aunt said she would make me mine, but I haven't heard anything from her in over a month about it and I hate to bug her. I might just have to buy one if I don't get it by Feb.

@photojane: Hey! I've actually been doing really well. My sugars seem to have stabilized in the low 100s and the doctor is really happy with how me and the baby are doing. So far, so good!
How's everybody feeling physically? I have had a crazy ton of pressure down in my pelvis, it feels like I have to pee all the time, even right after I go. It's getting harder to walk quickly at all, I get even more winded than usual, and I've been sweating like a pig! I can barely get out of bed without moaning in pain.
I was hopeful that the pelvic pressure meant baby had dropped, but I don't look lower and a nurse friend of mine told me that I haven't -- I hope I don't drop until I'm in labor, I don't think I could manage with even more pressure than I'm feeling now! It just feels like my hip bones are going to give out and everything is going to fall out of me.
pomelo / 5331 posts
@JerricaBenton: I think the newborn diapers have cutouts though for the cord. But what @photojane said made sense too about the outfit not being tight.
@Phillybaby2013: The nursery looks great, and good news on work! I have had barely any BH -- maybe 3 total? It worries me that I haven't had any! Though I know not everybody has them, I still feel like it means something that I haven't. I've started doing hip circles on my balance ball and drinking red raspberry leaf tea in an attempt to get my body all nice and ready for labor, though!
Here are some nursery pics... sorry I went nuts and couldn't pick favorites, but I can finally say we're done!

@ladyfingers: SO cute! DH would LOVE your sports-themed nursery! And I love how it's sporty without looking too sporty/cheesy if you know what I mean? Excellent job!
Do you feel any different with the RRL yet? I started taking 1 supplement a night and I definitely feel "something" (toning maybe?) going on in there after I take it!
I've been working on my DIY projects for the nursery all weekend and getting excited for our baby showers coming up in 2 weeks! I wish it were warm so I could wear a pretty maxi dress to match the shower theme color! What did you ladies wear for your showers? Anyone care to share pics?

Arg, I'm behind again!
@lolabee: We ended up ordering a rug from RugsUSA. It went on sale even more a couple weeks after we bought it, so I called them and they credited back the difference. We're still waiting for it to arrive, but based on the reviews and the design, I'm optimistic!
@photojane: I visited a friend's babies in the hospital over the weekend. Babies were early, about 35 weeks, and just over 4 pounds each. (Both are doing great!) I looked at my husband and said something like, "ours is actually a little bigger than that at this point." I think it freaked both of us out a little to see that in person!
@Phillybaby2013: Your nursery looks adorable! We finally built the crib, hung curtains, put in the closet system, and put up a little shelving, and it's starting to look more like a room, but it's definitely still lacking (say, a crib mattress, changing pad, pre-washed clothes, diapers...). It is so much fun to watch it (and help it) all come together though!
@ladyfingers: Great job on the nursery! I especially love the D-hanging. Adorable!!
@shopaholic: No shower pics to share here...I'm not having a shower until after baby is born, which definitely adds up to a LOT of buying things before! This weekend we did a lot of that.
I thought of one other category of things I'm going to stock up on in the next few weeks, related (kind of) to freezer meals: the toiletries that DH and I use on a regular basis. I figure that I know we'll need to do some grocery shopping and picking things up from the store once baby arrives, but if I know I'm not going to run out of shampoo or deodorant or toothpaste, I'll feel a little better about that...and not have to try to describe my exact stuff to DH or my mother or whoever else! Yes, definitely trying to control the little things, since I have no control whatsoever over the big things!
kiwi / 662 posts
@photojane: I agree, the hospital bag list definitely makes things much more real.
@Phillybaby2013: Thank you! I was glad we decided to do the elective ultrasound, was really cool. Happy to hear you're going for a massage, you'll feel like a million bucks afterwards! My baby presses out against my belly button often too, it's quite strange to see it point out to the right or left. I get some BH but I don't find them uncomfortable, just a strange sensation.
That is wonderful to hear about work, will make life a lot easier for you.
Love your crib skirt, good job! Your nursery is adorable!
@ladyfingers: You've done a wonderful job on your nursery!! So cute. Looks like it's a big room, lots of room for him to play when he's bigger. Do you like to RRL tea? I quite enjoy it, it's pretty mild in flavor.
@shopaholic: I usually drink at least 2 cups a day of RRL, some days I feel tightening other times nada. I wonder if there is any big difference between pill form and tea?
I won't be having a shower until after the baby is here so I'm not very helpful in that aspect, sorry!
@JessiBee: Exciting! Share some pics when you receive it. I love getting stuff in the mail I think we may be a little bit a like, I've been stock piling lots of house hold/cleaning supplies and have a list of toiletries/make up to buy. I can only imagine my DH rummaging around Sephora looking for an eyebrow pencil! haha
After seeing pics of Ladyfingers & Phillybaby2013's nurseries it really makes me realize I need to get on the decorating aspect of things! Onto Etsy I go
I've been lucky and have been feeling great, minus a bit of swelling in my hands and feet. I think mostly to do with flights. Sleep seems to be my biggest issue, I think I'm going to try out a sleep mask - the chiropractor recommended trying one. Apparently any bits of light stimulates a pregnant women's already overactive somethingorother gland.
How is everyone feeling about our upcoming labors? How much longer does everyone have left of work?
pomelo / 5331 posts
@shopaholic: You know, I haven't noticed anything from drinking the RRL. I'm not sure what I'm really supposed to be looking for... but I like tea and I like something warm to drink. I started drinking it because it's supposed to help regular blood sugar levels, so who knows.
@lolabee: I do like RRL, but I like tea in general, so I'm used to tea that tastes earthy, etc. I like to put a little bit of rock sugar in it for a little sweetness!
I'm getting really anxious about labor, hoping I can go into labor naturally and won't require an induction, etc. I really am looking forward to it, I know that sounds weird! I have 27 days until my EDD and 25 more days of work!!
blogger / eggplant / 11551 posts
@ladyfingers: Your nursery is adorable!! I love the theme and the hanging baseball cut-outs are a nice touch! The nursery looks huge too - we have such a small nursery so we can barely fit more than a crib, changing table, and glider in there!
pomelo / 5331 posts
@Mrs. High Heels: Thanks! We are really quite lucky. We have three bedrooms and used the smallest one (which is still fairly large) as the office. This is the second-smallest room, but only a tad smaller than the master bedroom. I love all the light that comes into it but we may need to figure out a blackout curtain scenario!
kiwi / 662 posts
@ladyfingers: Same here, in regards to tea. I'm a big tea drinker. I started trying a little agave in mine. I totally feel the same!! I want to go into labor naturally so badly! I feel excited for labor too, I just keep positive thoughts going about being able to have a successful med-free vag birth. If that isn't the way the story unfolds, then so be it. That's crazy you only have 27 more days til EDD!
I am so excited to start 'meeting' our February babies! I forgot to ask earlier, is anyone else doing maternity photos? Or decided to do a newborn session?
pomelo / 5331 posts
@lolabee: We're not doing maternity photos. I want to do birth announcements but a newborn session wasn't in the budget either so I'll be attempting the photos myself!
bananas / 9973 posts
@lolabee: @ladyfingers: Maybe the supplements are stronger or it's just a placebo effect? But I do get BH pretty regularly so it could be that too.
@lolabee: I just posted a thread yesterday about the NB photos. Finally booked and paid the deposit for our Newborn photographer yesterday! I'm so excited and hopeful for how they'll turn out. My sister's friend is a newbie photographer/student and wants to build her portfolio and is going to do maternity photos for us end of this month.
@Mrs. High Heels: Our nursery is small too! IDK how I ever had the dream that I would fit a twin size bed in there too! With just the crib, glider, and ottoman, it already looks full!
@JessiBee: That's a GREAT tip on stocking up on other essentials! I bought one pack of overnight maxis the other day to start my hospital bag. I can just imagine asking DH to go and buy a big pack of super heavy duty overnight pads for post-partum! lol! Better do that myself!
pomelo / 5331 posts
@shopaholic: It is supposed to tone the uterus, so it makes sense that you'd be having BH on them. I'm excited you found your newborn photographer!
@jessibee that is a really good idea on toiletries. It's hard to swallow everything we're spending upfront on stuff like freezer meals, etc. but I keep reminding myself it's less we'll be spending once baby's here! I did buy a bunch of jumbo pads for the postpartum, uh, period.
kiwi / 662 posts
@ladyfingers: I am sure they will turn out awesome! Just get some cute props and good lighting. With an adorable little newborn in them they can't not be great!
@shopaholic: I will check out your thread, thanks! I am SO pumped for the newborn session. Feel a little leery about mat pics because I think I'm kind of picky about them. We're using the same person who did our wedding though so I have full confidence

Hey ladies, how are y'all feeling physically? Anything new/weird happening? I'm always intrigued by this...
Mine are:
1) Itchy belly button--I thought I had managed to avoid this but today the inside of it is itching...maybe I should be moisturizing in there!
2) I think my lungs are starting to feel pressure from the baby and it constantly feel like my bra is restricting them. I just went up to a medium in sports bras though and I felt like it would be silly to buy a large since my band size is normally 32! Did your ribs expand A LOT?! Do ribs shrink back down after the baby comes out? Is it immediate or gradual?
3) My face is pretty clear but I have acne on my back like crazy...little zits allll over. Yuck.
Just wanted to complain/share because who else can I unload all of that on?! Hope everyone is having a good day!

@jerricabenton and @photojane - so glad that your babies turned!!
@Mrs. Lantern - definitely feeling hiccups, and have been for at least 8 weeks I would say? She has hiccups at least 3 times a day
@lolabee and @phillybaby2013 - so after finishing up the Ina May book, I actually started "Natural Childbirth the Bradley Way". I know people say that you need to take the Bradley classes in addition to the book, but I figured I might learn some things from the book alone =P Have either of you read that one?
@phillybaby2013 - love the nursery photos!!
@ladyfingers - I also have been feeling like she's way down low, and sometimes get the feeling like I can barely move because she's on my bladder, but usually that feeling goes away after a bit. She still seems to be pretty high when looking at my belly though! Wow - awesome nursery!!
I can't believe there are less than 5 weeks to go... but, finally the nursery is done!! Here is a little peek into it - with a DIY crib mobile and crib skirt. I'll post more pics later of the other half of the room =)
