@ladyfingers: @Emilie: @Phillybaby2013: I love all of your nurseries. I'm having a bit of nursery envy since we won't have one for about 6 months.

@photojane: I've started my hospital packing list as well but haven't actually started packing. DH keeps hounding me to get started.

@lolabee: We are not doing maternity photos but we are doing newborn photos.

@JessiBee: I'm planning to do a big Costco trip either this weekend or next for those toiletries and other items we buy in bulk.

@tororojo: I'm just feeling very large. No new symptoms. I'm not really gaining anymore weight but the babies are packing on the pounds.

Today is just one of those days where I feel gigantic. I am currently carrying around about 10 lbs of babies and with 3 weeks and 1 day left to go they might get close to 12 lbs combined! That's a lot of weight for this 5'2" girl to carry. Haha.

Is anyone else having problems falling asleep? I just can't get into a comfortable position. Last night it felt like I didn't get any sleep at all but I'm pretty sure I got at least 5-6 hours. They just didn't feel restful.

Hi Ladies, I am so behind on all the updates! Will try to respond to everyone…How crazy that next month is our turn?! I've started saying baby is due in 6-8 weeks! craziness….

@JessiBee: thanks for putting the list together! I didn't realize there were so many of us!
Good call on the toiletries- I'm compiling a list of all the stuff I want to stock up on, but hadn't added that yet (mostly just pantry stuff for now)!

@photojane: great news about baby turning!!!

@JERRICABENTON: I thought about finding an outfit with blue hearts or something, but then I feel like I might be jinxing myself and he'll end up coming in March or something..haha…Either way though, don't worry about separates. The main issue with rubbing the belly button is with the diaper, not so much clothes.

@TOROROJO: "I get random bony parts moving across my belly" Ditto!
Physically I'm getting TIRED. We have three floors (it's a townhouse), and I seriously get winded every time I go to the third floor (where our laundry is). My ribs have also expanded a lot the past couple of weeks. From what I remember, my band size went down pretty fast after delivery. On the other hand my cup size went way way up.

@PHILLYBABY2013: I just started getting BH this past week. It's so weird because I don't think I ever got them with my first pregnancy and it took me a couple days to realize what it was. I happy for the "practice" though.
Love your nursery too! I just asked my MIL to buy me some of those Ikea boxes as well- they are the best!

@LADYFINGERS: I don't know what it means to walk quickly anymore! Man, I'm so slow…ditto on the rolling out of bed- it's like a huge feat!
How is the RRL tea? The local store here was selling a box for 10 dollars or something, so I decided to hold off until someone can bring me some.
Your nursery is amazing! Love how it's sporty but not cheesy!
I can't believe you have less than a month! ahhh…

Around here, we just hired a new housekeeper. I'm training her slowly because I know what the house will look like after the baby arrives (bad). It is so awkward though, telling someone what to do in your house…any tips?
We also met with a carpenter about making us a glider, but his quote was $$$ so now we have a conundrum…#firstworldproblems
Oh, and I started to unpack our newborn clothes! It's exciting glancing at them…starting to feel real!

@EMILIE: love the nursery! soooo pretty! where is that mobile from? it looks awesome.

@WALLAROO: we didn't have a nursery for the first 6 months either! I still made lots of DIY art when I was pregnant and had it stashed away for a while though…so maybe you can do that if you're feeling crafty?
And I totally feel you on the sleep- it is not restful for me either! I can only imagine that it's worse when you're carrying two!

tororojo: Newest symptom: baby feeling like he's trying to rip his way out of my body. The screeching, thumping, pounding pain I feel throughout my lower parts when he moves is ASTOUNDING. Sometimes it makes me sees stars! As for my face, it's cleared up a bit but my chin is so dry so when I try to cover my acne scars it just looks worse. Oh, and when I go pee now, baby ends up pushing the pee out so it doesn't even feel like I have to start it. I just sit down and out it comes. The first couple of times it felt like my water was breaking because it was so involuntary but no, just gravity. Hopefully this doesn't mean I'm about to start peeing my pants all the time.

@Emilie yeah he still looks high but he feels low which makes me scared for the next few weeks lol! I love that shot of yourj nursery, the colors are wonderful!

@Wallaroo Ok I'm going to stop complaining. 10 pounds of babies! You poor thing! And yes, sleep is horrendous. I downloaded a sleep app and it's confirming that every night is worse than the last. I'm just not getting any deep sleep anymore.

@Baby Boy Mom: wow, $10 for tea! Do you have a Whole Foods near you? They have Yogi RRL tea that's $4 a box. Earth Mama Angel Baby also makes a third-trimester tea that has RRL in it, if you can find someplace by you that carries it. I think it's $5 for 20 bags?

@phillybaby2012: @ladyfingers: @Baby Boy Mom: We went shopping today because after all this talk about coming home outfits my husband decided he wanted to pick one out all by himself. It was so funny - he was all overwhelmed and kept picking up these little girl outfits and getting all nervous and he couldn't pick anything lol. At one point he picked up a little faux fur coat and I had to be like, noooo. Back to the drawing board!

@tororojo: I swear my ribs moved up in my body 2 inches. I used to be able to like, hook my fingers under them and now they are just popping out from under my boobs. Very strange. I hope they go back to normal but I'm not sure!

@wallaroo: Sorry you can't sleep. I am also having pregnancy insomnia. I am so tired when it's time for bed and I sleep for about an hour and then I'm wide awake! Last night I decided to map out all the baby parts in my belly on spinningbabies website and double check that my husband put the mattress in the crib infant side up in the wee hours of the night, lol.

@ladyfingers: I'm terrified of urine leakage! I've been trying to do Kegel's as much as possible to avoid it. I have leaked a couple of times while sitting on the toilet and sneezing/coughing, but I wonder if my guard was down since I was on the pot...haven't had any accidents out of the bathroom, thank goodness!

@WALLAROO - I'm definitely having issues falling asleep these days (only maybe within the last week?) But, I think a lot of it is due to my belly being really really itchy at night.

@Baby Boy Mom - I made the crib mobile myself, but it's pretty much a copy from this one on etsy with slightly different colors: http://www.etsy.com/listing/92595527/circle-mobile-modern-kids-mobile-rainbow
I just didn't want to spend $56 on it, and it was cheaper to just get a little 7" hoop from Michaels, and some wool felt from etsy and make it myself

@ladyfingers - hahahaha, YES. I'm like, if she's really not that low, what is it really gonna feel like when she actually drops?? Sometimes I feel like her head is already so low that she's peeking out down there =P

I saw my name mentioned on an earlier page and it made me feel guilty for being a stalker so I thought I'd chime in and say how much I enjoy reading all of the updates as we all get closer to the end!

Because someone asked, we are Team Green with this one (our second) and I haven't been revealing my due date. Just my own little experiment to see if it cuts down on the annoying "Is baby here yet?" comments, which is just so stupid to ask someone who posts on Instagram/Facebook/Twitter multiple times a day.

I'm feeling overwhelmed by everything I need to get done before baby comes. We're going to get a part-time nanny for at least a few months, and finding someone is kind of overwhelming. I have a good lead and a meeting tomorrow morning though! I'm making slow progress on the nursery, which I would love to show you pictures of at some point because I think it's so fun to see what everyone is doing.

I'm waiving the Group B Strep test (I did with my first pregnancy as well, it's pretty common for homebirth moms to do so) so the last hurdle of my pregnancy is making it to 37 weeks. After that point I get to birth at home like I've been hoping!

I'm attempting to pump up my birth ball with a foot pump as I type this. It's taking forever, but my hips will thank me, they are so tired of sitting in my office chair for long periods of time.

Oh and for those having trouble sleeping, think about placing a blow-up mattress on your bed. It made a huge difference for me for my first pregnancy! I got the cushiness of the air without having to be down on the floor.

  12. JessiBee

    kiwi / 733 posts

@Emilie: I love the mobile! Nice job. I also registered for that hippo bin...I hope we get it because I LOVE it!

@WALLAROO: Baby brain strikes again. Why no nursery for 6 months? It might be even more fun to decorate, at least, once you have the babies and know their little personalities!

@Baby Boy Mom: Thank you for the reassurance on the clothes! We have bought pretty much all one piece outfits, and most of those snap/zip up the middle. I had decided I didn't want to worry about it, so thanks for relieving me of that worry!

On the previous page, there were questions about both bra size and photos (but not together, I hope!). My cup has gone up some, but my band has gone up more. I started as a 32, and now I'm in a 34 but with an extender, since I couldn't justify new bras this late in pregnancy. I have no idea how to buy nursing bras before baby shows up, but wouldn't I need at least one right at the beginning?!
As for photos, I really wanted to do them, but we (I) couldn't find any that weren't so expensive, so we're just going to have to take lots of photos ourselves...and hope for the best. Now that I see how much we're spending on so many other things, I'm a little disappointed, but mostly over it.

@ladyfingers: How important do you think the magic tea is? I'm not usually a tea drinker, but I am definitely in the club of preferring baby to come on her own, and by my due date would be nice. I don't think I've been having BH, but I have had some random tightening of belly--does that count?! Things I just don't know! I suspect the list is about to get MUCH longer.

I picked up some reading at the library today, so now I have sitting at home the Happiest Baby on the Block DVD (which DH agreed to watch with me after it was recommended at one of the baby classes at the hospital), Bringing up Bebe, and Eat Sleep Poop. Looking forward to being completely overwhelmed...hopefully in a good way!

  13. ladyfingers

    pomelo / 5331 posts

@JessiBee: Yeah, I don't think it's important at all. Like I said, when I first got my GD diagnosis I was researching natural ways to lower my blood sugar and I found something on RRL. I knew that it would also help prep me for labor, so I was like, OK, win-win. It won't induce you, though, and may not even play a factor in an easier labor. But I like tea and had missed drinking it so, whether it does anything for my sugar and/or labor or not, at least I have some tasty tea to drink. I wouldn't force it down if you don't like tea, don't like the taste, would rather not, etc.

@JerricaBenton: aw your DH is so cute about wanting to pick out an outfit but good call on nixing the fur. Haha

@Emilie: That's another thing. I will be laying in bed and then all of a sudden I have these random itches. Like my leg will be itchy so I scratch it. Then a minute or two later it's my elbow. What gives?!

@thatwife: Good tip. Did your DH sleep on the air mattress as well? Our bed is pretty high already so if I put an air mattress on top of our regular mattress, I'd definitely need a stool.

@JessiBee: Our spare bedroom is for our au pair and family who are helping. Babies will be rooming in with us until we can move/buy a house which I hope will be sometime in the summer.

@Emilie: Oh my gosh I LOVE your nursery! It's so pretty and serene! Very zen-like! Nice DIY on the mobile! I'm starting mine this week and hope it turns out half as nice as yours!

@WALLAROO: OMG, 10 lbs of baby and you're so petite! I feel for you! Make sure your DH gives you plenty of backrubs and footrubs!

@JerricaBenton: That's so cute about your DH! Mine keeps saying he can't believe how much clothes she already has, but I've caught him eyeing stuff at Target and he's even pointed out a few things he thought were cute before.

Is anyone else tired of their maternity wardrobe?! DH and I went out for pizza last weekend and because of the big belly I'm so far from the table and ended up with not one, but TWO grease spots: one on my bump and one on my boob. I was mad because that is one less shirt that I can wear now. DH and I have our holiday parties (our companies both do them in January to avoid scheduling conflicts) these next two weekends and I have nothing to wear that I haven't already worn a million times. At least it isn't fancy so I can get away with leggings, a sweater, and boots.

@tororojo: I'm so lazy, I've done like no Kegels. I do a couple then get sick of it. Which is incredibly lazy considering I can do them when I'm doing whatever. Ugh, I'm my own worst enemy.

@JessiBee: I'm totally thread stalking, even started dipping my toe in the January thread in the hopes that it will send a signal to the universe that baby is welcome to come anytime in the last half of the month

@WALLAROO: OMG YES. Nothing fits! It's so ridiculous.

Will hopefully get to do a better respond post on my computer when I'm not falling asleep... just wanted to give a quick update on my first weekly appointment... I did not like the GBS swab. I think he poked my hoo-hah by accident and that hurt. The internal part didn't bother me. He barely got his finger in there and was like "well there's the baby's head!"- so i guess he's at my cervix. I'm a fingertip dilated and starting to thin and considering that he has giant hands, I'm calling that 1 cm. Lol... I know it doesn't mean much but I was kinda shocked that something was actually happening down there. Craziness! K ladies I'm going to bed . Gnight!

@ladyfingers: They have the Yogi brand but it's because of Mexican customs/organic store mark-up on import items. I'm going to have someone bring me some from the US, so hopefully in a couple of weeks.

    @JerricaBenton: love it!

@Emilie: Wow, I agree 50 is a little steep...great job on the DIY!!!

@JessiBee: I wouldn't get more than say one nursing bra...my very first blocked duct was about a week or two pp, and was totally because the bra I had bought when I was pregnant didn't fit right. It's sort of a pain, but I would just wait until your milk comes in and you see what size you need. Not the best look, but in the early days when I was home I pretty much walked around bra-less (and it was fine).

@WALLAROO: Yes! I can't bring myself to buy anything new, but I am definitely sick of what I have...and spilling way more than usual! It doesn't help that my belly no longer fits under the table, and my boobs are bigger than they've ever been. Maybe it's preparing us for the baby laundry?!

@Phillybaby2013: Yay for progress, even just a little! I am so not looking forward to that first internal exam...

@Baby Boy Mom: Thank you for the advice! I will go look for one in the next couple of weeks, and then drag myself out of the house post-baby.

My DH is also adorable about the baby girl clothes! He has definite opinions, and wants to help pick out everything...usually girlier than what I want! I love it.

@WALLAROO: I am soo sick of my maternity wardrobe. Not just 'cause I'm starting to wear the same stuff day in and day out, but also because things are starting to "not fit"! I am 35 weeks so why are maternity pants feeling so tight? With 2 more weeks of work left before mat leave, I can't justify buying anything new. After that, it's gonna be PJs and lounge pants all the way.

@JessiBee: That's so cute your husband is into picking out the girly clothes. What's his taste like? btw, can you add me to team pink?

Add me to the list that's having more and more trouble sleeping. The big belly is making any sleeping position uncomfortable after 2 hours. Last night I slept with my pillows propped up in a somewhat sitting position and I was able to get 3 hours from that

@Mrs. Lantern: Yay on Team Pink!!! Did you just find out?

@tororojo: At first I thought you meant the actual inside of your belly button was itchy!! lol My back was like that the entire first trimester, I found getting DH to exfoliate it helped. Hopefully it clears up soon!

@Emilie: I started reading The Bradley Method but couldn't really get into it, so I stopped reading it. I figured after reading the HypnoBirthing book and taking the classes we covered our bases the best we could. Your nursery looks AMAZING! Good job. Everyone has such beautiful nurseries

@WALLAROO: Oh you are going to have such amazing photos with twins!! So excited for you! As for the sleep, I have a harder time falling asleep and a harder time staying asleep. I'm not sure if it's so much getting comfortable, I just seem to wake up all the time. It would be wonderful to sleep soundly til the baby is here but I guess our bodies are prepping us?! Definitely tired of the maternity wardrobe, I struck it lucky and found a few items really cheap while on vacation. Hopefully they'll do the trick until the end! I'm sure it's much harder carrying two though, I doubt you'd be able to wear non-maternity shirts in larger sizes?

@Baby Boy Mom: That is going to be so nice having a house keeper, especially with two. Will really reduce your stress level. Great idea! As for bras, did you find once your milk came in you grew quite a bit more? I feel like my boobs haven't grown much since the first trimester, makes me wonder if they will suddenly grow a lot once milk is there. Did you use nursing tanks with your first?

@thatwife: Yay for another Team Green member! Were you Team Green the first time as well? I will put positive thoughts out there for you to have the home birth you wish for! I think it would be a beautiful experience.

@JessiBee: I'm also curious about buying nursing bras before the baby is here! I'm thinking the ladies at a maternity store will have some helpful advice. As for photos, whoever takes them whether professional or not, they will be perfect! The cost of everything is quite overwhelming, I keep telling myself it will be much easier with the second as we'll have so many of the necessities. How was the Happiest Baby on the Block dvd? Worth watching? Thank you for the update!

@Phillybaby2013: Sorry to hear the GBS test wasn't pleasant. I'm not looking forward to it either - really crossing my fingers on not testing positive. Cool to know you're a bit dilated and baby is right there!

My doctor doesn't do internal exams until my due week, which I think I am happy about. I was going to ask if we could delay them anyways so having her say she doesn't do them routinely, (unless something seemed out of the ordinary) was great!

I ordered a sweet heart blankie on Zulily today for going home, so even if I don't find the perfect Valentines-y but not too Valentines-y outfit, we'll have the blankie!

Still feeling pretty well! I did a pretty tough class at the gym today and my classmates are all nervous I'll go into labor. I'm like, guys - I think I'd know if it was imminent! I hope so anyway!

Hello, ladies! Had my 33 week appointment today and doc says this baby is head down, most likely for good...he said there's a small chance she could flip to breech before 35 weeks, but it's unlikely. I start cervical checks and get the strep test next time, so that's something new! Only 3 more weeks until February, can you believe it?!

@shopaholic - what kind of mobile are you making??

@WALLAROO - yeah... umm, I literally have one pair of pants that I wear to work every day. and I just change up the top between maternity items that I got from Gap or Old Navy. It's a good thing my work is all guys and no one cares what I wear!

@lolabee - oh wow, you've done a lot of prep work! I'm liking the bradley book so far.. especially because I can get DH involved. I feel like with the Ina May book, there wasn't much to "show" him.

@photojane - hang up the mobile & frames!! we want to see pics of the nursery haha

So, weird pregnancy symptom that I've developed in the last couple of weeks: hearing my heart beat in my right ear! I haven't asked my doc about it yet (appt is next week), but apparently it's common for pregnant women because of increased blood flow? haha.. it's more annoying than anything else - anyone also have the same issue?

@tororojo: Yay for head down babies!

I had kind of a frustrating visit yesterday. I had one of the midwives and she's pretty much my least favorite person in the practice, just because really I don't know her as well. She has sort of an abrupt manner, etc. I know I posted a little about this in another thread, but I'm just still worried and feeling out of sorts about it.

So they put me on the NST, and 5 minutes later she comes in and is like, you know, forget this, we're going to do an ultrasound instead, I hate NSTs and they take forever. So we did a biophysical profile ultrasound to check on the baby, and everything was fine. Then we're back in her office, and she's like, any swelling? I said yeah, just my feet and she's like yeah I saw that (she had already commented on it before). And then she's like, your blood pressure was a little high too, we're going to retake it. But there's no protein in your urine, so that's good. I told her I've been dizzy lately, is that normal, she's like, it can be. Any headaches or spots? I said no headaches, some sports. And she goes, "realllllly..." in a concerned tone. Well anyway, they retake my blood pressure and the nurse is like ok, looks good, you can go.

We didn't do a cervical check, I know they're useless anyway but I was sort of looking forward to seeing if I'd progressed at all since I was closed last week. No belly measurement. Didn't tell me about the results from my GBS (I forgot to ask). And then I felt just kind of high and dry about the whole swelling issue. I also gained 4 pounds since last week, so I'm worried about that too.

Well today, I have a headache. Of course. So I called them and left a message saying, I know this is silly, I was just there, but I am worried about the swelling and I'm sure it's fine or you wouldn't have let me go, but now I have a headache today, and is there anything I need to watch for, etc. They haven't called me back yet, though I called before 4 and when you call before 4 they're supposed to get back to you the same day, so hopefully I'll hear back.

IDK I think it's just a combination of getting that midwife and having her do none of the things that I'm used to having done at my appointments.

Oh and the ultrasound tech said the baby isn't very low, and he feels VERY low, so now I'm like, great, I'm just going to get even more uncomfortable.

I guess I'm just in a bad mood today I've had my feet up all day to combat swelling but I have to use this storage box under my desk and it's really pretty uncomfortable to have my feet up on it all day so I'm cranky about that too, but when I put my feet down for even 15 minutes they swell up tremendously

OK, good stuff... oh, they saw that the baby has hair, it's crazy that they can see that on the ultrasound! And after today I only have 16 more workdays left until leave... and 23 days until the EDD.

@shopaholic - just in case you were still doing some research on where to buy crystals, I've ordered other items from this site before, and I know they have both crystal in bulk, and some already strung together:

@ladyfingers - so sorry you've had a bad day =( All it really takes is one person to just kill it for you, huh? Hopefully they will get back to you soon! Just think though, only around 23 days left!! That's SOO soon, and you won't have to worry about any of these symptoms

@ladyfingers: Sorry your appointment was sucky, but YAY for a bonus ultrasound!!! What does she mean by spots? Like floaters? Supposedly those are normal if you've always had them (I have since I was a kid!) and even if they're new it's not necessarily a bad thing. Also headaches are pretty common for everyone in pregnancy, but they sure do need to call you back and set your mind at ease. Hooray for 16 more work days!

@tororojo: Yeah, floaters. It's not unusual for me, and it's typically when I'm already feeling dizzy or when I bend over. But apparently seeing dark spots out of nowhere can be a pre-e sign so combined with the swelling and the slightly elevated bp, I guess she was concerned. But apparently not *that* concerned.

I think I've just worked myself into such a worry today that I've given myself a headache and managed to make myself feel jittery and hence "off" like there is something wrong. I really do feel silly. I just knew I was going to get nervous in these final weeks. We had some friends a few years back and something terrible happened to them very late in the pregnancy (something very, very rare though) and I knew that it would weigh on me this late in the game.

Anyway... almost time to go home anyway

Sorry to be such a negative Nancy!
