@JessiBee: I know how you feel about the weight. I haven't gained enough (according to where I should be in the pregnancy weight gain charts) and I worry about that at every appointment. MW never even bring it up and fundal height is measuring fine. I guess we should count our lucky stars? But so hard not to worry!
Sounds like you found a great paediatrician! I better get on this!

Still haven't taken pictures of the nursery because I'm a big fat failure, but I'm feeling like it's definitely going to happen tomorrow!
I had my 36 week appointment today, and baby girl was head down and much lower than she has been - way to go, Sadie! I got the most invasive check of my life by Dr. Huge-hands, which was crazy uncomfortable. I found out I'm already 2cm dilated, and starting to thin. I know I can stay at 2 until after my due date, but it feels good knowing something is actually happening down there!

I don't know how everyone keeps up with posting to these boards and replying to other people! Is it weird to reply to things said to you 9 days ago? Oh well!
@lolabee I was Team Green with my first, and with my second as well. I'm done having kids, but if I were to have more I'd be Team Green every time. It's so fun!
I'm full term now, and once I get a few more things in the mail (most important is the cold packs I ordered for my hoo-ha and the liner for the birth tub) I am ready to tell baby to get outta there and join us on the outside! For now though, I'm happy to keep cooking the little one. I'm serious guys, the cold packs are a lifesaver (you'll probably get them at the hospital, but since I'm birthing at home I have to buy them myself).
I spent some time on the phone with my insurance today, and I thought I would share what it's going to take for me to get a breast pump through my insurance. Obviously it's different for every single person (I'm covered by Cigna), but this HelloBee post http://www.hellobee.com/2012/11/08/dont-pay-for-a-breast-pump-until-you-read-this/ was really insightful even if it didn't apply at all to what my insurance requires. Maybe my notes will help some of you?
----------
My insurance plan covers breastfeeding support/supplies/counseling
Through my insurance I can get:
Manual breast pump
Rental of electric breast pump
Hospital grade breast pump
My plan does not require pre-certification for hospital grade breast pump (this would be similar to what Adrienne Salentiny described where the baby would have to be in the NICU or something to get one). At first the lady on the phone told me that a hospital grade pump would require pre-certification, but I told her I had a breast reduction and low milk supply and she looked closer and said that she was wrong.
The company I can get my pump through is called Care Centrix
Their number is 1-800-453-8003
3, 3, 1, 1, 1 routes me to the correct menu
In order to get a hospital grade breast pump through Care Centrix I:
1. Must have delivered baby
2. Prescription sent in by doctor that includes name, address, phone number, date of birth, insurance number, diagnosis, letter of medical necessity
3. Fax number = 877-301-5330
I'm annoyed that they don't let you get it until the baby is born. What am I supposed to do in the meantime if I have issues??? I guess I can always rent one from the hospital for a short period of time.
cantaloupe / 6164 posts
@thatwife: Awesome that you get a free pump, but such a bummer that you have to wait until the birth. The company I'm getting my pump from has an estimated delivery time of 3-4 weeks - baby would already be over a month old if I had to wait post-delivery!

@photojane: Is it sick that I'm jealous? The midwife I've had for the past 2 weeks (no idea why I had her again this week when I was supposed to have one of the doctors) apparently doesn't do cervical checks, because once again she said "I'm not going to bother putting you through that this week." Not that I WANT to get to second base with my midwife or anything, but I'm dying to know if there's any progress down there!!
@thatwife: Thanks for posting that! Unfortunately, my insurance company doesn't cover them until June -- that's the first renewal date after Aug. 1 per PPACA, which does me absolutely no good since LO is going to daycare in April. All these posts about the ladies and their free pumps are bumming me out!
@tororojo: I think BRU sends you the completion code 2 weeks before your due date. I didn't want to wait until mid-January, so I changed "event date" to Dec. 16 (my shower date) and the code came in the mail a few days later.
It's a 10% discount, which doesn't seem like a lot, but really did help a LOT. The only problem for me was I tried ordering a bunch of the stuff online and there was some sort of sale going on but only for some items, and you can't stack their coupons so it wasn't letting me use the code. I couldn't tell what stuff the sale was applying to and what wasn't, so I ended up just using the code on the in-store stuff that I wasn't able to order online.
Amazon sends it 30 days before your date, and I was told that it's the first date you put in there, so you can't change it. Well that's not correct, because I got impatient and changed the date in December for giggles, and my discount was automatically applied. It's also a 10% discount and is automatically applied to anything eligible (basically only things from the baby store so no books, etc., and only stuff sold and fulfilled by Amazon )but it covered most everything I had on there. There are instructions on there at the top of your registry on how to use it.
So we had our last ultrasound yesterday, baby is measuring at 6 lbs 13 oz! Which is right in range for 37.5 weeks. His head is measuring a week ahead and his shoulders/torso a week behind, which are all in normal range. Size was a concern with my GD but we now know we have nothing to worry about. Everything else looked great, as well. Oh and I'm Group B neg -- yay! One complication avoided
I had a bunch of mucus this morning (more plug?) and I didn't get a cervical check (boo) so I have no idea if I've progressed. I woke up to totally soaked underwear this morning, but I haven't felt any "water" leakage while getting up, walking around, sitting on the toilet -- just discharge seepage. These last two weeks (possibly longer? Oh god please don't let it be longer) will be the death of me.

Ah new page again!!!! Please know that I read everyone's posts everyday on my phone - I just suck at getting on my computer to reply. Don't want anyone to feel left out. ; )
@photojane: way to go on being 2 cm! I know they say it doesn't mean much but it's atleast encouraging that your body has started getting ready. I feel you on giant man hands - i'm basically alternating between the 2 male Docs at my practice bc of what time I need appts and this weeks check was pretty uncomfortable - especially when he started pushing on the baby's butt while he was up in my hoo-ha........can't wait to see Sadie's nursery all done!
@thatwife: i agree how hard it is to keep up with responses!! I check this thread daily on my phone but never have time to type out responses unless I'm on my computer which isn't often with all the baby preparations!.......sounds like your just about ready for LO! And it's great that you're getting your pump although it stinks you have to wait till after you deliver to get it. My insurance is super lame and only covers a hospital pump rental with a script. Luckily I bought one from a friend who didn't use hers but still, who doesn't love free stuff.
@ladyfingers: I'm sorry you're having such issues with this m/w! If you get her again just ask her to do it anyway. I doubt she would say no but it is weird that it's not something that's across the board in the practice....glad you had a good u/s tho! Can't believe Baby D is almost 7 lbs! Our babies are totally gonna be on the outside soon. This is nuts....oh and I overanalyze the tp every time I go to the bathroom, looking for some sign of a mucous plug or show or something! Nothing as of yet but the amount of discharge has definitely increased. Sometimes I stop and think is that my water? Is something happening? Haha - sadly no.
No change for me this week - still 1 cm but crossing the full term threshold feels pretty amazing....Found out I'm GBS + which I'm pretty bummed about. It's obviously out of my control so I'm trying not to dwell but it still sucks...I am getting an unexpected u/s tomorrow to check Baby's size so that's exciting. My Doc this week basically said "you haven't had an ultrasound in a while - you want one?" Of course I wasn't going to say no.
Work is becoming pretty difficult but I'm managing. I feel pressure on and off throughout the day and have been having round ligament pains and BH. I have a very physical job and we're short staffed so I don't have a lot of options except to keep moving unless it's slow. Hopefully all the action will help Baby come out soon! Everyone keeps commenting on how much I've dropped and that I will go early - Let's hope they're right bc 2.5 more weeks of this sounds pretty terrible....Is anyone else working till the end??
pomelo / 5331 posts
@Phillybaby2013: OMG THE DISCHARGE! I feel soooo gross all the time!! I dropped a ton of mucus in the toilet this morning (lol sorry). So many women are GBS+ and it's no biggie, so don't worry! And yeah, I'm working till Feb. 1 and due Feb. 3. I had another crying jag at work today and kept saying over and over "I can't do this, I can't be here anymore waaah" (with my door closed and not loud lol that would be awkward). I can't wait until this is over!
kiwi / 520 posts
@ladyfingers: I know it sucks but atleast you have some end in site with work. I considered being done early, I just know with my luck he'll be late and then I'll be pissed that I wasted that time sitting at home by myself. I haven't had any crying fits yet but I have bad days. It doesn't help that my coworkers suck and are pretty inconsiderate. Something isn't right when the 9 month pregnant girl is running around taking the xrays and you are sitting answering the phones....I'm not necessarily over being pregnant as much as I want to meet Baby but I'm for sure over working and being pregnant!

Hi Ladies! Quick check in. The twins are here! I had to have an emergency c-section due to HELLP.
Mila Quinn was 5lb 12 oz and was born at 8:05pm
Owen Joseph was 4lb 5oz and was born at 8:06pm
Owen is in the NICU because of his size but he is doing well and we are hoping he can join us later this afternoon. Other than that we are all doing well.

Oh my goodness ladies I am PAGES behind!
@THATWIFE: I'm going to follow your lead and reply to things from 9 days ago too…
@LOLABEE: I found that postpartum my band size went back down, since my ribs sort of went back into place, but my cup size was a couple sizes larger for a few months. I had a bit of an oversupply though so that might have been part of it. I think it's really hard to tell ahead of time though…I never really used nursing tanks, but I did spend a lot of time braless with just a regular tank on the first couple of months (but that was also in the middle of summer).
@JESSIBEE: Way to go on finding a pediatrician! That's a big one for sure.
@ladyfingers: My RRL tea arrived from the US thanks to a family visit. For some reason I was expecting it to taste not so great, but it's actually not bad at all!
@MRS. MARKERS: I wouldn't bother with sterilizing everything, only a few things that you will definitely want to try out. I made that mistake last time, and have all these random bottles that are sterilized and I can't return but LO never used!
@PHILLYBABY2013, @photojane: yay for dropping!
@WALLAROO: Congrats!!! So excited for you! Hope you're feeling well and enjoying your little miracles!
And while I'm at it, here's my update:
We've been super busy here but it's all for the better. I met a new doctor who is pretty much an expert in VBACs. Last year the practice had 100% success rate so that's really encouraging. The practice has 3 doulas and we met with the one I chose and I feel so much better. I feel like they are really going to do everything to give us the birth experience we want, barring complications of course. I don't really need to even write up a birth plan because we're on the same page! Also, they work with the same hospital I delivered last time (which is really nice and close to our house) so I don't have to worry about being somewhere new again.
On a lighter note, we ordered a glider that should be coming next week (the one thing we didn't get last time and I really regretted) and I'm about 50% done with freezer cooking. Oh and DH and I saw a movie in the theater for the first time in 18 months- yay!

@WALLAROO: no way!!!! CONGRATS!! So glad to hear you are all doing well and I LOVE their names! Can't wait for more details and hopefully some pics! Get some rest Momma. Hooray to our first February babies!!!!!!
@Baby Boy Mom: I'm happy it sounds like you have a really good chance for ur VBAC. I've heard a lot of Docs discourage them for reasons that don't always seem reasonable but it's super helpful to have someone in your corner!
@photojane: Omg the nursery looks amazing! So bright and cheerful! - and i love the owl. The dresser came out super awesome too. Looks just like ur inspiration board.
I had my ultrasound this afternoon and at 37w3d Baby Boy is measuring 7lb 10oz +- 15 oz!!! I won't get the full results till Monday at my next appointment but that was more than I was expecting her to say even if they're not that accurate. And while I was waiting to go back I had the worst charlie horse-esqe pain in my left side under my ribs. It hurt so bad and then was sore till I got home.
I think Operation: convince baby to come out has officially begun. Time to blow up the yoga ball!

@WALLAROO: Congratulations!!! Can't wait to hear the story and see pics, but for now...enjoy and congratulations!
@thatwife: I'm on the insurance/pump carousel now, too. My DH found out that they'll cover one...but I have to get it through my doctor's office or hospital. I guess at my next appointment, I'll ask the doctor what that means and figure out what is the inevitable next step.
@ladyfingers: Sorry you're not first of the February mommies...I thought it was a possibility! Sounds like stuff is moving for you though, even without the internal check. Thanks for the lovely preview of what I can look forward to in the next couple of weeks
@Phillybaby2013: I also usually read on my phone, but it's so much easier to respond from the computer, so I usually fall way behind, too. I'm also planning (trying?) to keep working until I have a baby, so I have no definite end date, which is really hard and frustrating. And I'm only 36 weeks!
@Baby Boy Mom: I'm so impressed with your freezer cooking stash! Our kitchen renovation should wrap up next week (FINALLY), and then it's going to be a rush to try to to some of that. I also have a friend, though, who offered to coordinate a few people to bring us meals during the first few weeks, which is awesome.
@tororojo: Thank you for updating the list...I'm never on HB from my work computer!
@photojane: LOVE! Details, please, on the mobile and the S. I am in love with the bright colors, the book racks, and that it's so...done! Beautiful job.
No other news around here. Just trying to keep my eyes open, since I have to head back to work this evening and the next two mornings. Growing a baby is exhausting!!

I know I'm not a "real" Feb. momma, but I thought I'd post my OB Visit Update here too! I went to my OB today and got my [most likely] LAST U/S. I will miss seeing the baby until she comes out!
Everything looks good they told me - Baby is measuring 4 -something lbs and likely to be born upper 6lbs/lower 7lbs they are guessing. She is in the 38% weight or size percentile the tech said. AGAIN, she was covering her face with her arms the whole time. She is in head down position already too. Next appt. is in 2 weeks, and after that I will start the weekly OB visits!

@photojane: wow! amazing job on the nursery!!! I love the the colors, especially the dresser!
@PHILLYBABY2013: Thanks! for the first time in weeks I am actually feeling like I have a real shot.
Oh, and definitely blow up the yoga ball. I'm always so lazy to sit on it, but when I do most of my pains go away and it's so worth it!
@JESSIBEE: ooo, having meals delivered is the best! And yay for having a new kitchen before baby comes- definitely worth it, even if it means no freezer meals.
pomelo / 5331 posts
@photojane: it's beautiful! The dresser turned out great!!
@Baby Boy Mom: glad you got and like the tea, and excited about your doctor! I think I'm officially done with the freezer cooking. Technically I have 3 weekends worth of recipes I wanted to get through but I'm so winded lately! Maybe I'll drop it to one recipe/weekend and just make double the recipe so we can have the rest for dinner Sunday night.
@Phillybaby2013: wow, healthy baby! I did some yoga ballin' tonight, I hope it does something for us! It just seems to make me crampy, but then again, what doesn't?
@JessiBee: oh hey that's ok!! I know he will start the process when he's good and ready to come out... Just hope he's not too comfy I'm sorry I've been so negative and whiny here lately - it's not all bad! Just looking forward to lots -- meeting baby, moving into the next phase, no more waiting, a different kind of physical discomfort...
@shopaholic: aw I know, the ultrasounds are the best. But yay for weekly visits! You're getting there!
I was getting cramps this morning and can't tell whats a contraction and whats not, so decided to time them. And then they went away. Silly body!
What's everybody doing this weekend? We are doing nothing! I need to wash our sheets and my 1 goal is cleaning the bedroom but I'm trying to take it easy after a major nesting spirt this past week. I bought a living social voucher for a house cleaning so I'm not going to pressure myself to get the house spotless every weekend - trying to figure out if I should book it for my 39th week or after baby! I'd hate to get the house sparkling then have baby hang out for another 2 weeks, but not sure if I'll want a cleaning crew around while I'm in the early postpartum baby craze nursing nightmare stage!
grapefruit / 4669 posts
Weekend plans: keeping the house clean/keeping up with laundry/washing the last of baby stuff/packing hospital bag. I'm trying to maintain a clean living space so that when this baby come we don't have to worry about other stuff. Also, we bought our car seat today! Babies R Us didn't send a completion code so we asked for a coupon in store, which excludes Britax (the one thing we wanted to use it on!)--but thankfully the car seat is on sale online ($30 off, woo hoo!)! We're picking up in store tomorrow. And then we're officially ready! (except for crib sheets, which have been bought from our Amazon registry but didn't reach my aunt in time for the shower...not sure when we'll have sheets! but I suspect we'll manage)
I can't believe how soon some of you ladies are due! I think we'll see more action before Feb. begins.

@Phillybaby2013: Sorry to hear about the GBS +. It would be tough to have a super physical job a this point in pregnancy - hopefully it works out in your favor and works that baby work for ya! I too will be working until the end but my job isn't physical at all.
@Baby Boy Mom: Thanks, that is quite helpful! I think I will buy one of the Bravado nursing tanks and then go out for some bras once I have a better idea on size. Have you found this pregnancy a lot different from your first? Very exciting to have a doctor that has great success with VBAC's, I wish you a a wonderful delivery. Good job on getting out to a movie too! I'm sure 18 months felt like a lifetime.
@photojane: AMAZING job on the nursery, love the colours and details. Sadie will certainly love it! There is definitely a huge benefit in knowing gender when it comes to nurseries/decor/shopping.
@shopaholic: Yay for head down!! Too funny that she had her hands in front of her face again. Hope you're feeling well!
@ladyfingers: I hear you on wondering about when to get the house professionally deep cleaned. Seems like such a gamble! We aren't doing too much. I'm working off and on and going to a friends house tonight for a girls night/dinner - looking forward to that. I doubt there will be many opportunities for those in the next while. Oh I am also finishing up prepping my diaps, for some odd reason it makes me very excited!
On a slightly crazy note, DH made the executive decision to finish our loft - starting Monday. I'm hoping we don't regret the decision!
Has everyone pretty much decided on names? I *think* we have our girls name picked but we're really struggling on boys. We seem to have very different taste in that aspect. Might just have to wait to meet the babe.
Hope everyone is able to spend a little quality time with their hubs before our LO's make their appearance into this world! DH's Dad gave us some NHL tickets for next Friday, yay for date night!
pomelo / 5331 posts
@tororojo: Yeah I've been worrying about keeping the house clean too, but I get tired so easily now. The past few weeks, even vacuuming has worn me out to the point where I'm a sweaty, breathless mess halfway through and I have to force myself to finish. I make DH do the laundry and the bathrooms, but he thinks "doing the floors" means "doing the hardwood part of the living room and dining room floors but not the carpets or the hall or under the dining room table," so we/the animals end up tracking dirt from the dirty to the clean parts within about 15 minutes after he's done. It's tough to keep up with everything, and I know it will be even tougher after the baby comes! Even cooking dinner is an ordeal lately!
pomegranate / 3983 posts
@ladyfingers: That's been my method for all the freezer meals- just make double what we're going to have for dinner and freeze half of it. I just made my inventory list and I'm at about 12 meals, so I still want a few more in there.
We've been having a chill weekend. Today we dropped by a picnic for lunch and then did a couple errands in the afternoon, stopping to get a coconut on the way. Yum! Tomorrow, we're going to DH's soccer game in the morning and then out to brunch. I'm taking a break from my to-do list until Monday.
@lolabee: Haha, yes…They started giving assigned seats at the theater, and we were like, "is this a new thing?" The guy selling the tickets laughed at us…apparently they've been doing it for the past year!
But to answer your question, yes it has felt really different this time around: different cravings/aversions, different stretching pains (actually just a lot more stretching since this baby is quite a bit bigger), way more Braxton-Hicks.
We're not anywhere close to a decision about a name. I think we've narrowed down to about 3 or 4 contenders but haven't been able to do any better than that.
