@SweetMamaM: I just got a giftcard for a pregnancy massage. I am so excited to lay on my stomach that it is ridiculous!

@indi: It's cold here as well but I'm hoping to skate by with my regular coats. We'll see how far I make it! I can button one over my tummy but not my boobs.

Just did the one hour GD test. As others have said, the drink really is not bad at all. It was just like flat orange soda and was much smaller than I expected. Hopefully, I will get the results soon.

@MrsKoala: Good! Hoping you get good results. Everyone keeps reassuring me that the test isn't bad but I'm still dreading it on the 19th!

I ordered my baby shower invitations today! Well, the designs from etsy anyway. It will be a couple of weeks before they are printed and ready to be sent. Can't believe it's getting to be time to get ready for the shower!

@SweetMamaM: I have an old IT band injury that has really acted up during this pregnancy. Man, those can be painful.

I actually had to do the three hour GD test after barely failing the first, but luckily I passed the second with flying colors. I think I failed the first because I drank OJ beforehand, not knowing the doc would want me to do it that day. But it was a stressful few days wait. The last thing I need is more complications.

When is everyone's shower? Ours is Dec. 8. It is going to be a nonconventional, co-ed cocktail type thing at a cute bar with our friends. Can't wait!

@raintreebee: Mine is January 11th. Hoping to send invites out by the end of this month. I'm doing an old fashioned ladies only shower. DH is having is own beer and poker party where his guy friends can bring a pack of diapers the same day.

@raintreebee: Oh man! I wish the docs would give more information before you take the test. All mine said to me was don't eat pancakes or anything like that. So I just had an egg and a string cheese for breakfast. I was soooo hungry! Glad that you passed the 3 hour!!

My shower is set for December 29. Since my EDD is right at the beginning of Feb, I felt like the end of the December was the latest that I could go without freaking out and buying everything that we need.

@Mrs Music: It is the muscle that runs from your butt, right down to your knee. The chiro says it's my pelvis trying to expand (not that it needs to) and my leg muscles fighting the expansion. It had literally seized up the entire muscle by the time I went yesterday. Feels much better after the massage.

@raintreebee: @Danizaur: @MrsKoala: our shower is on the 14th of December, we're doing a co-ed get-together. I'm finding it a bit hard to be hands-off with this one... it's such a busy time of the year and if it were up to me, the invitations would be out already. Haha, I'm such a planner. I really need to let this one go.

We had our first antenatal class last night - it was really interesting. We're due from the 31st of December to the 23rd of February (that's me) so it's quite a span - especially if babies come early or late at either end. Our childbirth educator is awesome though - last night she did an activity on pelvic awareness and loaded a "pelvis" container with all the added weight that a pregnancy brings. All the guys then had to hold the container (12.5 kgs) to see what it felt like! We got home and Papa M wouldn't let me carry anything upstairs, just told me to relax. We'll see how long that lasts

@MrsKoala: I did my GD test the other week and went to the MW today and everything is good and his Hr is 144-148 he's still a busy one in there lol.

@raintreebee: @Danizaur: @MrsKoala: @SweetMamaM: my cousin is throwing my baby shower and she's not giving me details on the theme or colors she say it's a "surprise" so I'm just going with it lol but it's gonna be January 11th like Danizaurs and it's gonna be co-ed mostly just family and a few of my friends and this Saturday the 9th DH co-wokers are throwing us a diaper party which oddly enough it's co-ed so I have to be there but I'm excited about it tho since all their wives and girlfriends will be there.
@MrsKoala: Dec 29 is my birthday!

Ours is pretty early, no one really wanted to do one in December or late November bc of the holidays and I am too anxious to do it in January bc our due date is early February. November 23rd for us!

We went up to BBB today to order the glider. They didn't have the exact color I was hoping for, but I hope its close enough. The chair is so comfy! The Quinn Glider by Best Chairs in Oatmeal (22487). We had a good time walking around the store looking at lots of neat baby stuff.

ALSO!! I cannot tell you how excited I am that the Olympics are going to be on around the time we give birth/maternity leave. I LOVE the Olympics and will make late night wakings and feedings that much better!

Here is an update on my friend because I am scared for her and I feel like I need a hug. She started bleeding and having contractions today. She is up at the hospital and they have confirmed that she is in labor. They are not sure they will be able to stop it. She is only 27 weeks along. please pray for her!

    @littleblessings: yikes! praying!!

@SweetMamaM: Oh I have never heard it called that... had my massage yesterday... butt/tailbone still sore but not as bad... I had my pregnancy massage yesterday but they did not have a table where I could lie on my stomach... had to lie on my side the whole time.

My baby shower is being organised by my sister and is likely to be end of Jan since I"m not due till the end of Feb.

@MrsKoala: Hope you get good results from your GD test! I have to schedule mine for Monday (the dreaded 3 hr as it's standard protocol now, boo) and will have the results on Wednesday.

@raintreebee: So glad to hear you passed, although it sucks you had the scare at the start. Goodness knows you don't need any more complications!

All the shower talk is exciting! We didn't have a shower for our first (and obviously won't this time as it's our second) as we live overseas from all our family and friends. My small group of girlfriends in the city I was living in at the time took me out for a fancy high tea, which was lovely, but no proper shower. Sometimes I'm a bit sad I missed out on one but then again, it was nice to be able to purchase what we wanted without a lot of superfluous stuff. Still, I love baby showers and can't wait to hear about all of yours!

@citymouse: I'm super excited about the Olympics starting right after LO is due! My first little one was only six weeks old when the London Olympics started and I loved having something to watch during the middle of the night wake ups! I joke around with DH that we'll need to plan baby #3 to arrive around the time of the 2016 games to keep up with our trend!

@littleblessings: Sorry to hear about your friend. Hoping they can stop labour and her baby gets a bit more time to bake!

ETA: Argh, after not being able to get through to pathology all week to schedule my appt for the glucose testing, I finally got through today, only to be told they don't have any vacancies until Nov 21! Ugh, I'll be 29.5 weeks by then... This is definitely one of the downsides of living in a very remote corner of the world - only one hospital to serve a humongous region! Ah well.

Her cervix has begun thinning, she lost her plug and the baby has dropped. They are still trying to stop her labor.

@littleblessings: hope they can stop it! How scary!!! If anything to make you feel better, my mom gave birth to my little sister at 27 weeks. It was tough but she's now a happy and healthy 16 year old!

@Honeygold89: Yay! Same shower date! How cute that it's a surprise. My sister is throwing mine but I'm such a control freak and I have my hands on everything!

@littleblessings: sending hugs and good thoughts your way

@Danizaur: @Mrs Music: @citymouse: @MrsKoala: @Honeygold89: jealous of you ladies and getting showers, since this is #2 for us we aren't having one, we might do a informal get together after the baby is born as a meet and greet.

@littleblessings: Thinking of you and her. I know a set of twins born at 27 weeks. Although it was no picnic early on, they are now beautiful three year olds.

@littleblessings: aw I hope it goes well for your friend and her baby sending prayers.

@Danizaur: I honestly wish I had more to do with it but I think it's nice that she wants to surprise me so I'm excited.

@raintreebee: Haven't scheduled mine yet because we're waiting to find out when my sister may get leave or have time between her base transfers. Gaahhh, Army! But it looks like I'll have one in Nov/Dec, one around New Years, and one with DH's side about 4 -6 weeks PP. Showered out!

@SweetMamaM: Ouch! Feel better soon, I hope!

@citymouse: I'm due the 20th, so I may miss part or all of the Olympics due to working and then be off for a month + with no fun TV on. Booo! Jealous.

@Mrs Music: My gal props with pillows or just has you use the chair for the back portion, so no belly laying for me either. But some rub is better than none, so I'll take it! Hehe.

@Ree723: My challenge is on 29w0d, so late-ish, too, I thought. But that's when they put it (and they could've done it sooner) so I think you'll be okay. Hopefully we both pass with flying colors!

@Honeygold89: You'll have to share lots of fun photos from your surprise shower. How exciting!

@littleblessings: I hope that you're friend and baby are doing alright. Sending lots of good thoughts her way.

I'm excited for my mom to come up this weekend! DH is out hunting all weekend, so it's a ladies date! We'll probably sort and pack away my pre-preg winter clothes I won't need this season, put away more baby stuff, and organize the further organize the nursery room. I want to get some furniture in there SOON!

Ooh, and DH and I named our baby. Woop! Not telling anyone IRL (even our parents, they're the worst jabberers EVER) but if people do inquire we'll either go with the "haven't decided yet" blurb or just say that we'll only know for sure when we meet her. But we totally know. Hahah.

@Ree723: Wow that is late! I'm sorry that you have to do the 3 hour to start off with! That's annoying.

@lavender: I think a meet and greet would be awesome! A lot of my friends have had smaller showers (Sprinkles) for second babies and I like that as well.

@littleblessings: Oh no! I hope that they are able to halt her labor for a little longer. Wishing her all the best and hoping for the best case scenario.

@indi: Yay for names! I can't wait to hear what you guys chose!

@indi: yay for having a name! We have our boy and girl short lists picked out but are pretty sure we'll be going with the top names in those lists.

I have woken up with a rip-roaring headache this morning. Not happy. I also need to work all day on a work project and that makes me even more glum. Roll on December 11th!

@Danizaur: I feel like you I'm so ready even tho we still have a good bit to do mostly small things tho. I can't wait for February!

Oh and like I mentioned the other day DHs coworkers threw us a diaper party today which was fun and we got a good bit of pampers in the case and wipes and pacifiers which was so cool and we are so thankful for but the crazy thing is that we only got one case of newborn pampers and the rest were size 2 but like I say we're very thankful for it now I can't wait til the baby shower in Jan. Today was so exciting to me.

  34. SweetMamaM

    pear / 1743 posts

@Danizaur: I feel like time is going pretty fast, but I'm also okay with that happening. As much as I'm so happy that we've been blessed with this little one, and I'm so glad I haven't had any major health issues, I am not one of these women who has LOVED being pregnant... I'm all about the reward at the end!
@MrsKoala: @Honeygold89: I finally kicked through the headache at about 1pm after a paracetemol tablet and cola (I'm not drinking caffeinated drinks regularly throughout my pregnancy but it's the only thing that worked with my other previous stubborn headache) and we seem to have got things ironed out so that the car will be towed to the mechanics tomorrow morning (and I will not have to do anything - DH and the ILs are sorting it)... now it's just to kick through the rest of this work. I can see being finished at around 10pm tonight, but I'll still have to work on it for a couple of hours (around teaching) tomorrow to get it done before deadline. Then there's junior exam marking that will get pushed out further... breathe

@SweetMamaM: that's good that everything is going better now and I'm with you Im actually not having a bad pregnancy either I'm just so ready and anxious to get to hold my lil man in my arms I think because a lot of my friend were due last month and this month and are now having their babies and I'm just so ready for my turn but of course I want him to take his time and be healthy

@Danizaur: Me too. I feel like I've studied so hard for a test and I just want to be able to do it already!

@SweetMamaM: really coke? That usually gives me a headache! I also had a headache on the weekend... unfortunately I'm immune to panadol so I just have to suck it up and suffer. I've had headaches all my life though so really its a normal day for me.

  37. SweetMamaM

    pear / 1743 posts

@Mrs Music: yeah, it was a trick I read on here a few weeks back when I had a persistent three-day headache. It's funny, I used to be such a cola addict and now even one can is hard to drink back! Something about the caffeine combined with the paracetemol makes the efficacy higher.

  38. Mrs Music

    cherry / 209 posts

@SweetMamaM: oh so coke only helps if you take with panadol... ok gonna try that next time.
