@fancyfunction: I'm feeling great! Have much more energy now that I'm well into second tri, and loving my bump!
We went for our anatomy scan on Weds and it was so awesome to see our baby again! My has it grown since last time (7 weeks ago!). It really looks like a human baby now, rather than a blob. Everything looked perfect and measured right on track. Strong heart, good kidneys, long arms and legs, big head...I guess that means I should prepare myself for a big baby!
We were careful to tell the doctor and techs that we don't want to know the sex, so they made us turn away when they were looking at legs and lower body. At one point I thought I saw a little something, but I wasn't sure at all, so I'm not speculating. DH didn't want to have them put the secret in an envelope for a potential reveal later, so we're definitely not finding out. I'm OK with that, I'm excited for the surprise.
Here are a couple of the sonograms we got. I love the little button nose! And the one with the arm showing, baby had just been sucking its thumb before they took the picture.

@Bella214: I'm definitely thirsty all the time, and drinking tons of water, but that's not that different from before I got pregnant. I've always loved my water! It does mean that now I have to pee every 20 minutes (as opposed to every 45 min before getting pregnant...). But I'm thinking positive: more walking around and less sitting at my computer. My midwife also said it's important to drink a lot of water to reduce round ligament pain, so I'm all for it!

@ms.line: 12 pounds is really not that much! I've gained about 9 pounds, and I'm happy with that. But, like you, other than boobs and belly, nothing has gotten bigger. So I'm taking that as a good sign that it's all going to baby, placenta, and extra fluids. As long as your weight gain is steady and consistent, you should be fine. It's more important to get the right nutrition and light exercise than to focus on a number. And I'm sure 12 lbs will seem like nothing by the end!

@Bella214: I found that I have to drink a lot more water than I'd think to not feel thirsty, in this pregnancy and my last. I drink about a gallon a day.
@fancyfunction: I'm generally feeling a lot better. Only get nauseous if I don't eat regularly, but I'm still pretty wiped by about 6pm. I've been a lot achier in general than my first pregnancy, but I'll survive.
@saboma: Great pictures! I'm glad everything looks good. I admire your team green strength, I need to know!
We have an elective scan next Saturday to find out gender, I"m so excited!

@ms.line: i under stand how you feel about weight gain, i gained a lot in my last pregnancy (45 pounds total). I can't remember when i gained it though, except not in first trimester, it was all in second and third. I am only up 4 pounds this time at 18 weeks, and also not pleased just because i am starting 30 pounds heavier than last time so i am afraid of how high it is going to go! I am hoping to gain a lot less this time since i have the extra fat already I wouldn't worry about 12 pounds if you can't see it, it's going to the right places then and you are doing all the right things, that's all that matters in the end.

@saboma: lovely pics, i love the arm one too! and i am excited for you to find out on delivery day if it is a boy or girl! i also admire your ability to do that!

@ms.line: I'm up the same at 18 weeks. With my first I was up 2 pounds at this point. I gained almost 40 pounds in the second 20 weeks last time. If you do the math that means 50+ pounds. I can do 40 again, but I don't want much more! I'm also much bigger this time around. But I know so many people who gain most of their weight in the first and second trimesters.

This is how we announced on Facebook tonight. I'm so glad DH is more creative than I am, I would've just posted the sonogram!
Oh and we had a busy day: went to a yard sale and bought enough onesies, swaddle blankets, and sleep sacks to get us through at least a week. And then we bought a stroller! I've had my eye on this one for a while, and it was on sale, so we went for it. I love it already!

School has been crazy the last few years, so I have been that active on the boards. But I hopped on tonight, saw this, & thought I'd add our little one on the way to the party here:
Location: Seattle
EDD: February 21
How far along? 17 wks
First child? This is #2. DS "X" is almost 4
First Dr appt.? We had that at 5 wks to confirm the pregnancy and start getting referrals for specialists. I'm a carrier for a very serious genetic disorder, so I have to see specialists often early on. Thankfully, the tests all look fabulous, but I still haven't been cleared to stop seeing the specialists because a new, unrelated issue popped up on the ultrasound this wk.
Symptoms: they started earlier than in my last pregnancy & the nausea, though not serious, wasn't as easy to manage as last time. But, by 15 weeks I had no nausea or other 1st trimester symptoms. Besides expanding boobs & belly, plus starting to feel kicks, I'm feeling pregnancy symptom free.
Who you've told: everyone at this pt. even announced gender on FB yesterday. (We're having a girl this time.)

@saboma: that picture is so cute!!
Monday at 3pm is my appointment. Time is moving soooo slow.

@Kelley_lovelikecrazy: I think it's definitely possible you'll level out as you go! I recently saw a thread about second-time baby weight gain, and it seemed like most mamas gained earlier with their second, but ultimately ended up in the same ballpark as their first. I wanted to gain under 30, but that's seeming less and less likely!
@saboma: Cute announcement! I also went on a bit of a shopping spree - I bought two carseats, a Mamaroo, a stroller, a video monitor, and a Rock N Play all at once! My bank account was like, wtf.
@ladybee: Only one more day!!
@red_seattle: Welcome!

@saboma: very cute and creative!
@red_seattle: congratulations and welcome! i hope everything continues to go well with your pregnancy and that this latest thing turns out to be harmless. It sounds like a stressful situation to be in. At least we are almost halfway there! and congrats on having a girl! that is what I am hoping for!
@ladybee: that's tomorrow! i am jealous. i have to make it till Friday for my scan!! i can't wait to hear your update. Are you hoping for one gender in particular?

So after the day i had yesterday, i am contemplating starting my mat leave 3 (instead of 2) weeks before my due date. I just hate how the weekends are so short and i am just getting the immediate stuff done and never having time to start working on the nursery or DS's new room and fixing up our new house in general and i want it all done before this baby comes! DH is busy focusing on renos in the basement, but i am stressing about the rest of the house......and so yesterday we both lost the day as we had to take DS to the hospital emergency and were there all day He has had a swollen enlarged testicle for over a month. His ped checked him out and did an ultrasound and we've been waiting on a surgical consult. In the mean time they said it's harmless and may even resolve on its own. But yesterday, DS woke up and it was more swollen and red (never been red before) and he was in pain
So we took him to the hospital where they did more ultrasounds but found nothing more than the same fluid build up as before, except more i guess. And they said he will likely need surgery to fix it :(. So we are back to waiting. At least DS is feeling better today. We had a bday party to attend today and i am back at work tomorrow. ugh. i really hate working full time. Sorry, i am just rambling and venting because i am tired and yesterday was a stressful day.

@californiadreams: oh no! I hope he's feeling better! How old is he? Do they have any idea when he'll be having surgery? I'll keep you all in my thoughts.
I really really want a girl. It's not that I don't want another boy, just the idea of never having a girl makes me sad. In 24 hours I'll know one way or another!

@ms.line: @ladybee: thanks. he will be 3 in November. I don't know yet when the surgery will be. We are waiting to hear from the surgeon to make a consult appt. He was back to normal yesterday and today.

We've been on the go for the past month! Lots of three day weekends, just got back from a 10 day trip to my hometown, and work has been super crazy busy. I haven't been around much, but I'm catching up now.
Hope everyone is doing well!

Hi everyone! I'm joining in late in the game...
Location: upstate-ish New York
EDD: February 27th
How far along: a bit over 16 weeks!
First child? First and second! It's twins!
First doctor appointment: A really long time ago. We've had tons of care and attention since our 6 week ultrasound.
Any symptoms so far? Felt nauseous all through the first trimester but never threw up once, so I consider myself lucky! Second trimester has been great so far, belly is popping, always hungry and thirsty.
Who have you told? We made the widespread announcement last week at work but are waiting longer to announce on social media. It was awesome to bask in everyone's happiness and excitement!
Looking forward to finding lots of great advice on how to handle this crazy journey we are embarking on!
