I'm so curious if I've dropped too. I feel like her feet aren't pushed as far into my ribs anymore but I don't think I look too different. Maybe I always carried a little low? Either way I've started having some serious sharp pains that I assume are her putting pressure on my cervix. I would describe them like @jesslc did.
My midwife doesn't do cervical checks until you're in labor I think. They'll do one if you ask for it but I don't want to obsess (even though I am so curious!)
@highwire - I have no idea how gigantic the pads will be in the hospital but from everything I read people seem to recommend buying some depends for right after the birth to be more comfortable. I haven't gotten any and I'm not so sure I will but it's a thought! I also heard a lot of good things about Always infinity so I picked up a few packs of those to get me through.

@JessLC: oh my gosh that sounds exciting! I finally ordered the last items I need for the hospital bag this morning (nursing bras, makeup remover wipes, hair ties, etc) . Ready to start packing!

@lindseykaye: thanks! I've got some overnight always pads that I'm ordering in a few weeks. Hopefully they will be absorbent enough to use by the time we are discharged and can go home. I'm just going to use those big scary ones the hospital provides until then

@lindseykaye: i don't think i look too much different either. i have a short torso, so there isn't a lot of room for baby to drop. but, i did notice that my bikini area looked like it had come out more...like the bulge started lower than it used to.
@highwire: oooh. thanks for the reminder! i need to buy nursing bras too, i've been procrastinating on that. which kinds did you buy? plus...i haven't worn pads in a decade, i am so not looking forward to it!

Is anyone else following the October mamas thread? I can't believe that they are all having their babies. That means we are all next! How did this happen?!

@highwire glad your maternity pictures went well!
@chelsearose I was thinking the same thing!
34 weeks.. feeling torn between freaking out at the prospect of baby arriving early and at the prospect of going past my due date and laughing at myself for ever thinking I'd go early.
My husband is starting to cross train for his new job 6 hours away and will be gone all week and then back for our hospital tour.. We have 1 (male) friend local who could come if I needed him to and my parents will be in town for most of that week.. but I really hope that this baby cooperates and I don't end up in the hospital by myself!

I'm at 36 weeks and like all of you, I can't believe that it is soooo close! Two of my friends gave birth last Tuesday and it was very overwhelming as they were my benchmark the past 8 months. It was strange to see the babies out of the tummies!
Sigh, as of next Friday, he can come anytime!
When are you all planning to start mat leave? I'm going to try to work until 38 weeks!
persimmon / 1161 posts
@clery: I'm planning to work until 39 weeks unless I go into labor or need to be induced for medical reasons. My ob gave me my note for work yesterday. She actually offered to take me out of work at 36 weeks due to borderline high blood pressure, but I declined. I work a 4/40 schedule with Fridays off and I'm working from home at least one day too.
blogger / pear / 1964 posts
@clery: Everyone keeps asking when I'm starting maternity leave, but I have no answer. As far as I know, I'll just keep working until something starts to happen. It's been an "easy" pregnancy so far, but maybe work will get unbearable in the last couple of weeks.
GOLD / eggplant / 11517 posts
@ChelseaRose: yes I am definitely stalking October!!
I'm working until 39 weeks. I have a job that isn't very physically demanding but I am so ready to be done just because I'm looking forward to the 'break' from the hum drum of office life.
In other news, throwing in sheer excitement into my middle.of the night wakeups has officially tanked my ability to sleep lol.

@scg00387: ohy gosh!.I'm sure he.will be back in time.
@clery: whoa so exciting!!
grapefruit / 4006 posts
@clery: i'm planning on working up until the day. so far i feel fine, not too miserable and my commute is really short. i figure if i take any time off beforehand, i'll just end up sitting on the couch and twiddling my thumbs and looking up potential labor symptoms on google. so its better to distract myself and also just maximize time with baby after she gets here.
@scg00387: he'll be away for just this week, then he'll be home, right? is it 6 hours driving? worse comes to worst, he'll probably make it for the most important part of labor - when baby comes out!
grapefruit / 4006 posts
@highwire: i wake up every single day at like 6:30am and i can't fall back asleep because my brain just starts racing at the prospect of having this baby!
what's everyone up to today? yesterday we washed all the baby things...put together our stroller...read the instructions on our car seat. today, i'm going to lunch with my mom and then getting our hair done. cut & highlights...will fit in some walking to help move baby along.
blogger / pear / 1964 posts
@JessLC: My brain is refusing to turn off if I wake up in the middle of the night. I'm exhausted at 2:00 AM, but I can't stop thinking about everything that's about to happen!!

@jesslc Right now I'm watching this TED talk about what fetuses learn in the womb! Short & interesting: "http://www.ted.com/talks/lang/en/annie_murphy_paul_what_we_learn_before_we_re_born.html"
then we have our CPR class all afternoon and I want to set up our monitor.
He'll be away that week and then potentially more later on.. oy. At least they're letting him come back and forth I guess! I just get nervous when I read people's labor stories that they only had 4 hours from start to finish! Eep.
@highwire happy baby shower!

@JessLC: @Mrs. Tricycle: @highwire: I'm sorry you ladies are having the middle of the night wake up issue too. Although it makes me feel better that I'm not alone. Most of the time I can get back to sleep with 15-30 minutes, but there have been a few nights when it took hours and turned into anxiety rather than just excited thoughts.

It's a nursery furniture assembly marathon in our house today. Basically that means I hand DH parts while he does all the hard stuff. Luckily, we have a great supervisor.

@mrstricycle ACK love your pup! I have such a soft spot for shaggy dogs. That is fun to get all set up, even more fun when you don't have to do any "lifting"!
We finished our CPR class and even though I've taken them before for work, I think I benefited from it. 1 thing she brought up I hadn't thought about was having a "medicine log" so me & husband didn't accidentally both dose the baby in the same time period if the other was asleep or had left.

@Mrs. Tricycle: I hope the furniture assembly marathon went well!
Wow, it seems like everybody will be working close to 40 weeks. I'm going to try very hard to make it to 38 and a half weeks but we will see!
Glad to hear that I am not the only one who stays up at night thinking about baby.

As part of the "collaborative care" practice that I am in, we are assigned a doula when we are nearing our due date. I just received a call from her and we will meet her tomorrow. I'm trying to stay calm, but I can't help but freak out a little. I am excited to meet her though.

@Mrs. Tricycle: AHHHH hahaha. Your pup is too cute!
@highwire: hope you enjoyed your shower and got lots of baby gear!
@clery: awesome!! hope your meeting goes well today!
we officially hit the 35 week mark this past week, I cannot believe we have less than 34 days til due date! AHHHHHHHHHH!
I also had my first "I'm over pregnancy" moment yesterday. I totally want him to bake longer, but ugh the cramps and immobility were just totally getting to me mentally yesterday. It doesn't help that I think I've officially hit or past the 35 lbs mark! :(... I'm glad to be carrying it well, but I'm seriously feeling the physical ramifications of it.
GOLD / eggplant / 11517 posts
@mrsjyw: I've had a couple of moments where I've almost cried and gotten VERY cranky about how I feel physically. This problem I've been having with my hip has just really pushed things over the edge. I've been trying to rest it as much as I can, but sitting around not moving makes me entire body constantly sore and leaves me feeling so stiff! Ugh.
@clery: Did you have your meeting yet? How did it go?
@scg00387: Good tip about the medicine log. I loved our CPR class. I feel really glad to at least have a little bit of a skill set in that department now.
@Mrs. Tricycle: Cute pup! How's the furniture looking?
Besides feeling like TOTAL crap physically, I had a great weekend! My maternity pictures were super fun, the baby shower was GREAT, and I got to spend a lot of quality time with a ton of friends who I haven't seen in a while at the shower and later that night. DH and I went to a little Walking Dead premiere party and it was great to catch up with our old crew of college friends.

@clery - I wish our practice assigned doula's too! Totally jealous. We're not hiring one and I hope I don't regret it.
I'm in the camp of people working until labor. Part of me thinks I should have my official last day be my due date and then another part of me keeps thinking that I could very well go past my due date and I would be losing money sitting at home dwelling on NOT being in labor.
The rest would be really nice though. And so would the relief for my back (this office chair is getting worse by the day - and it's a good one!)
I've got 21 days until my due date and my anxieties now stem from really wanting everything to be done but trying to balance that with getting rest and enjoying my time with my husband. Thankfully everything left on the list is all bonus stuff(hanging pictures in the nursery, making more food for the freezer, cleaning stuff AGAIN) but I still want to get it done!
blogger / pear / 1964 posts
@highwire: Phew! I'd be exhausted after that schedule! You're a trooper for making it through such a busy weekend!
@clery: That's awesome! Hope the meeting goes well!
GOLD / eggplant / 11517 posts
@Mrs. Tricycle: Ha and it was basically done on almost no sleep!

And I just swelled out of my sandals for the day. Sitting at my office barefoot and hoping I don't have to get up and go into anyone else's office for the rest of the day...

@kml636: She said 2-3 weeks, but she also said that about our engagement pictures and had them to us a few days later, so we'll see!

@kml636: love it!! Just like @Mrs. Tricycle: I'm so jealous of the girly look. Since we are team green we pretty much did the basics (paint, furniture, etc) but we are going to do all the actual decorating after baby comes and we know if it's a lady moose or a mister moose : )

@JessLC: Ha they were funny... they absolutely stank! Poor DS had to keep moving the burning stick from toe to toe, while the smoke blew in his face. It made our entire apartment smell like we were a couple of dope dealers : ) Anyway I can't deal with the smell so we're stopping. Baby has moved, I'm not sure which position she's in, but we'll see on Friday.
I bet the brown mucus was due to your cervical check. I know what you mean about needing to pack a bag, we're three weeks out and haven't even thought about it!

@ChelseaRose: We'll all be having our babies before we know it, crazy!!!
@clery: I'll be working right up to my due date. I'm due Monday 5th November so I'll finish work Friday 2nd.
@highwire: Aw bless, I know what you mean about the excitement : ) That sounds so great about your maternity photos too, I bet they're awesome!
@Mrs. Tricycle: Your dog is too cute!
@kml636: Oh my gosh, that is the cutest nursery! I love the curtains!
