    Hi Everybody, the meeting with the Doula went well! She came in and spent an hour getting to know us. My hubby liked her and I do too.

    @kml636: love your nursery!

    @kml636: LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE! so pretty!
    @clery: yayyy for good doula mtg, need to go read @mrs.tryicycle's blog post about their search!

    Anyone else been battling constant cramps? Mine's only on my left side ( think his head is toward that side ) and it's just like a constant period like cramping. I have a doc appt in an hour so I'm going to mention it. Also - I think I'm having my group b strep done... anything to expect?

    @mrsjyw: The doctor might do a cervical check while down there. Neither one hurt particularly. Weren't you having one sided cramping in the past?

  6. mrsjyw

    @ChelseaRose: yea early on in third trim. Ended up being growing pains this is more like a constant cramping

  7. kml636

    pomegranate / 3225 posts

    @mrsjyw: yikes, hope the dr can help with the cramping. Group B strep is no big deal... pretty much just a swab.

    @mrsjyw: I had a lot of cramping yesterday and mine was from GI issues. Is it possible that's the problem for you?

  9. mrsjyw

    GOLD / wonderful apricot / 22646 posts

    @kml636: ty! Hoping it's just growing baby... it doesn't hurt too bad just really uncomfortable

  10. mrsjyw

    GOLD / wonderful apricot / 22646 posts

    @MamaMoose: I think it def was last time.. the past couple days tho haven't had gi isues... I think it might be weight/pressure on that side... discomfort level is diff w each position.

  11. MamaMoose

    GOLD / squash / 13464 posts

    @mrsjyw: Yeah sounds like your LO is just running out of room in there. The good news is that at this point we are all pretty much at a point where if baby did decide to come there would likely be very limited complications so I would mention it to your doc but try not to stress too much.

    Baby boy is engaged = cramping... cervix is thinning... SHIT IS GETTING REAL MAMAS!

    @mrsjyw: that's good news!

    I'm kinda concerned about my baby's position and I'm worried that he's alternating between transverse and breech (but head to the right). I'm not having nearly the pelvic pressure that I was before and I feel like he's not pushing on my bladder all that much either. I guess I will just have to wait until my appointment on Friday and insist that my OB checks his position. If he's not in a good one then I will have to look into getting him turned "naturally" before the dr talks about other options.

    @ChelseaRose: I'm concerned about baby's position also! (even though I'm only 34 weeks). My chiropractor said baby was sunny side up which means horrible back labor...so I'm hoping she turns before then!

    @highwire: If I were you I'd be getting nervous sister since you seem to follow @mrsjyw almost exactly ; )

    Seriously, this is CRAZY. So got the gbs swab, then he did a routine cervical check (this was the first of my weekly appts) and he said that baby's engaged and that's why I've been cramping and will continue to feel pressure; that my cervix is already thinned out and I'm ahead of schedule!

    He said that I'll likely be closer to due date than now; but, also gave me hospital/contraction instructions and told me that they wouldn't stop labor at this point.

    HOLY $#IT!

    pomegranate / 3225 posts

    @mrsjyw: wow! That is really good to know. I'm going tomorrow for my first check. I think my cervix is thinning too, or else WHAT is all the pain I'm walking around with!

    @highwire: I hope your chiropractor can get baby to turn!

    I have no idea if she is sunny side up or not, I think I can feel her little butt sticking out but I have no idea, really, lol.

    @mrsjyw: When I was at the hospital for blood pressure monitoring at 35w2d the nurse told me that had I arrived in labor, they would not have done anything to stop it. That's when the feeling of OMG this is really happening soon kicked in. I was not thinning or dilating at all at 35 weeks and now I'm wondering if it is due to a bad position of the baby, which means that he's not putting pressure down there to get things going.

  23. DillonLion

    GOLD / eggplant / 11517 posts

    @kml636: Me too! She may also turn a bunch between now and labor...but I'm glad she seemed to be head down at least!

    @highwire: I was actually reading recently about the positions to sit in to encourage the baby to have a good position. It was a little annoying because they contradict the ways you need to sit (legs/feet elevated) to combat feet swelling. I know you've been dealing with feet swelling too, but it may be worth some further research.

    @ChelseaRose: Do you have a link to the article if it is online?

    I did finally get some compression socks, so hopefully that will help a bit with the swelling situation!

  26. ChelseaRose

    @highwire: It was in my hypnobabies book, I think. I'll check it in a little while to see if there is a reference/website.

    Here's the exact article that was used in the book: http://www.homebirth.org.uk/ofp.htm

    @ChelseaRose: A quote from the article

    "When the baby is posterior, your tummy may look flatter and feel more squashy, and you may feel arms and legs towards the front, and kicks on the front towards the middle of your tummy. The area around your belly button may dip in to a concave, saucer-like shape."

    This is exactly what I experience. Guess that chiro was totally correct!

  30. ChelseaRose

    persimmon / 1161 posts

    @highwire: Although it is not good that baby is posterior, at least you'll have some advice for helping her turn. Plus, you have plenty of time until baby arrives to encourage her to get in the right position.

    @mrsjyw: oooh! Keep us posted!

    A couple in my prenatal group had the group's first baby over the weekend. Things are definitely starting to get real!

    BTW, anybody wakes up with extremely sore fingers?!

  32. DillonLion

    GOLD / eggplant / 11517 posts

    @clery: YES! I think it is swelling/edema related?

  33. clery

    olive / 61 posts

    @highwire: I think it has something to do with swelling.

    How is everyone's weight gain? Pretty sure I just lapped you @mrsjyw: ....up 37 lbs and almost all of it has been in the last couple of months.

  35. ChelseaRose

    persimmon / 1161 posts

    @highwire: As of Friday I was up 12 pounds, per my scale. The doctor has me at a weight that is two pounds higher, but probably because I weigh before eating/drinking and with no clothes on. I'm probably up more now due to almost daily milkshakes.

    @highwire: Ha I have no idea about weight - but safe to say a lot! My legs are like tree trunks. I keep looking at my wedding pictures to remind myself I was human once.

    So... I have a c section date! November 6 at 3.45pm. If baby hasn't turned of course. NOt long to go!

  37. mrsjyw

    I think I'm hovering between 33-35 lbs depending on the time of day. I'm trying not to focus on the number and keeping focus that the baby and I are both healthy!...
