@ChelseaRose: Ah well, what can you do? We opted out of having a mechanic look at it before we bought it so it is our own fault. Luckily we do have the cash, I was just hoping to save that for when I'm on maternity leave ...

No swollen feet or ankles here (my rings still fit) -- pretty sure that means that I'm only gonna lose a few pounds when the baby's born -- no water weight to get rid of. Boo!

Anyone having major cravings? I can't get enough orange juice -- I can't stop drinking the stuff!

@Mrs. Tricycle: I have no hope that all my swelling means I'll be able to drop weight after the baby is born. I'm sure my body will do everything it can to hold onto every, last, damn pound (just like it always has)

I'm so glad to hear you don't have swelling issues. It is SO uncomfortable.

@ChelseaRose: Flip flops were fab during summer, but I can't wear them with my compression stockings. I washed my stockings yesterday so my feet were free to hang out and hang out they did, ha ha.

@Mrs. Tricycle: Wow, still wearing your rings? That's awesome!

@lindseykaye: That's great that you can still wear ballet shoes - my ugly feet are too big for them now : ) Ballet flats are so pretty!

@travelgirl1: I'm growing out of my giant stand-in rings I've been wearing since 20 weeks..

@highwire: Ha ha, I bought a stand-in ring too! It still fits but it was totally a Top Shop pretend diamond ring so the silver paint's rubbed off and you can see the brown metal underneath. I have no shame!

@Mrs. Tricycle: I'm mostly with you on the no swelling. I haven't had issues with my rings at all. If I spend a long time on my feet in unsupportive shoes I'll get swelling in my feet and ankles but it resolves pretty quickly when I put my feet up. I'm also thinking this means there won't be a lot of easy water weight to
    Lose after delivery.

    Ugh - @highwire I feel your pain.
We just paid about 2k in car repairs over August and Septeber between mine and my husband's cars. I was a wreck over it but then I kept thinking, better now than after the baby is here...
    Still such a bummer though!

And I'm still in my rings too - but I heard from some ladies that I should take them off for delivery. Anyone else heard this or have experience? I really want to wear them when I have my baby but I don't want them to become a problem somehow. I'm guessing it's because of the swelling that can happen when you get IV fluids but I don't know...

  12. DillonLion

    GOLD / eggplant / 11517 posts

@lindseykaye: Yeah, that's what I'm thinking! I told DH to just get the car as close to perfect as possible before the baby gets here and we'll figure out the finances later.

  13. DillonLion

    GOLD / eggplant / 11517 posts

@lindseykaye: Yeah, I've heard IV fluids and whatnot can you make you swell really bad and then they have to cut them off. What about putting them on a chain around your neck? They also might make you remove all jewelry if you have to have any procedures done and I'd much rather leave my jewelry at home than take it off at the hospital and risk it getting misplaced.

Despite my sometimes swollen feet and ankles, my hands are fine and my rigs still fit. They ask me about hand (and face) swelling at every OB appointment because it can be part of pre-e, especially if it happens suddenly. I do plan to take them off before going to the hospital and probably the necklace that I wear on a daily basis too. I don't want to risk them getting lost or stolen. I've made it this far with my rings and I don't want to take the chance of them being cut off.

I'm really hoping that most of my weight goes away ASAP because a lot of it is the actual baby and his accessories (placenta, fluid, etc.).

My next OB appointment is tomorrow. I had some blood drawn on Monday and had to turn in a 24-hour urine sample as well as further testing for pre-eclampsia. I haven't heard back from the doctor all week, so I'm assuming that the results were not too bad or they would have let me know. I guess I'll find out more tomorrow. At least baby is full term now.

I just started feeling some swelling in the last day or two. I couldn't put on my engagement ring today and my shoes feel tight. I'm hoping baby comes soon. 38 weeks today and have an appt tomorrow morning, hoping to have made some progress over the past week!

@lindseykaye: I read in my hospital's pamphlet that we should leave all jewelry at home because we will be made to remove it and shouldn't leave it unattended in the hospital.

i'm on the same train as @mrstricycle and @mamamoose, rings fit & no swelling... no water weight here womp womp I'm glad yall posted about not wearing rings to the hospital though, I'm not sure that would have occurred to me! We have our tour next Saturday.

Passed our 2nd weekly biophysical today, wahoo, but she couldn't check my cervix's progress because baby's head is so so low. Not looking forward to the OB checking "manually" next week!

    @chelsearose yay for full term!

Hi ladies! I recognize that I am coming to this November party almost as everyone's going home, but I wanted to check in and say hi. Now that we're all getting so close, I thought it might be nice to connect on this thread too!

I am 37w3d and am dealing with the everyday emotions related to this baby possibly coming at any moment now! At my 37 week appointment on Monday, the doctor said that the baby's head was extremely low and that while I was not dilated at all, she had a feeling that I would be having the baby much before my due days (November 5)-- she also mentioned that while she said that, we could be having the same conversation in 3 week's time.

I am still feeling well but have noticed that I am much more "on guard" this week and feel like I am interpreting every single movement and baby's shift as the final thing that will precede my water breaking. It's a bit nerve-wracking and I am just trying to relax and enjoy what are hopefully the last final weeks of this pregnancy. I would really prefer for baby to keep growing until the due date (or closer than now, at any rate), but I think I jeep scaring myself that it's going to be time sooner rather than later.

I also keep putting off a bunch of things which I know will help me to relax-- like packing our hospital bags! I have been saying I would do this every night this week and by the time I get home from work, I am beyond exhausted and wind up pushing to the next day, which brings on more worry. I am planning on working right up until the end, but wish in a way that I had taken a week or so more before baby arrives to get some of the "basics" done.

Anyways, thanks for letting me join in, even at this late stage! I hope everyone is having a great week and feeling well

@megg05 welcome!! hope you find some time to catch up on to-dos so you have energy to bring that baby into the world I am the same way, I get hung up on what I have left and sometimes it's worth it for me to sacrifice sleep just to have it done and out of my head. sending some energy and rest your way!

@Meggo5: Welcome, welcome! I had big plans to take care of some to-dos tonight, but I lost my mojo already....Congrats on being full term! I've got 2 more weeks to go until I get to 37

@ChelseaRose: I feel like I am 3 seconds away from being diagnosed with pre-e. My blood pressure has been borderline high the whole pregnancy, my swelling has been out of control in my ankles, and I've had rapid weight gain going on the last couple of months. This morning my left hand was incredibly swollen but it seems to have gone down some. I think I might bring this up at my next appointment in a week and a half.

@highwire: I've felt like that for the past couple of months, which began with my first borderline high bp in the 130s at about 28 weeks. I think you should definitely mention your concerns to your OB because they can do further testing if necessary. I was sent to the hospital for monitoring two weeks ago (all was fine with me and baby), but the nurse said if I was in labor or if things were not well then they'd let me deliver. Definitely call your OB if you have a bad headache or visual disturbances. Now that I'm 37 weeks I feel like they will want to induce me if anything is wrong or seems to be getting worse.

@highwire, @scg00387, @travelgirl1- Thanks, ladies! I am very excited to be full term and I am making peace with the fact that I will not have everything "done" in time and that some things will just have to wait until baby is here.

I did manage to get a few things done tonight, so feeling a bit better. We just got a new camera and I worked on setting it up (still have no clue on how to use all of the amazing features, though!) and did some laundry to get ready to pack our bags. Of course I get my second wind at 9pm and am still up and awake when I should be getting ready for bed.

@travelgirl1- Yay for November 5 due date babies! Can you believe that it's right around the corner?!

Welcome @meggo5!! I'm a due date triplet with you and @travelgirl1 (and also came kind of late to the party here!). Glad you're still feeling good and I can COMPLETELY relate to the 'on guard' feeling.

You'll be in great company these last few weeks - it's been great to have a community of such wonderful ladies at the same stage of pregnancy

@Lindseykaye- Yay again for November 5! I hope you're feeling well and enjoying being so close I totally agree with having the support of such a wonderful group of people. I have been somewhat active on HB for quite some time and have lurked this thread for months, but it's nice to get incolved, now that things seem to be taking shape quickly.

@Meggo5: Welcome!! :):) and I'm RIGHT THERE WITH YOU. I can't get myself to finish packing the hospital bag (it's mostly done).

I got the same info at my last appt at 35w2d-- baby's low, cervix is thinning, ahead of schedule, etc.

I go back in on Tuesday at 36w2d-- so we'll see if I've progressed at all!

TGIF NOV MAMAS! Are you guys doing anything fun this wknd?

DH and I are going to take a trip"up north" 1.5 hour or so to take in the changing leaves and make a stop at Frankenmuth (Bronner's the world's largest christmas store is there and we want to get a customized ornament for our growing family! :P)

And then we'll probably have belated birthday dinners with his parents and mine sometime this wknd for DH.

P.S. TOTALLY had dreams/nightmares about L&D and contractions last night!

@mrsjyw: Fun! We are heading out of town also. Going to my in-laws in West Texas for our last baby shower. I'm not looking forward to 4 hours stuck in a car both ways...but hopefully it will be okay. Our new car should be fully repaired by the end of the day, so we might take that out on its maiden voyage so it can stretch its legs

The cupcake baker that did my first baby shower posted a picture of the cupcakes she made for our shower last weekend! It was a safari theme, like our nursery.

And oh my gosh. They were tasty!

I had another OB appointment today. Everything was good from my blood work and 24-hour urine test that I did earlier this week. The only annoying this is my "white-coat syndrome" bp issues. I seriously checked it before I left and it was 119/70-something, which I told the doctor before I had my bp taken at the office. Then at the office it was 144/100. The doctor told me to go home, calm down, take it again, and call with the results. I took it at home after only being here for about 5-10 minutes and it was 126/79. I called and left a message with the receptionist, but I'm not expecting to hear back from the doctor because that is a perfectly reasonable bp for me. I highly doubt that she is going to send me for monitoring. It will be very nice when I don't have to worry about this anymore.

Baby is definitely head down, which is great! I hope he doesn't have the space or inclination to turn himself at this point (37w2d). No cervical check this week, but I think we will resume them next week.

Also, Today my husband and I are going to have a lesson on cloth diapers and pick up our first set from the diaper service. After that we will just need to call them once baby is here and then they will put us on the weekly delivery schedule. They offer the first delivery and instruction in-home, but it would have to be on a tuesday during business hours and that doesn't go well with a full-time work schedule. The appointment is in a baby store that also sells cloth diapers and other stuff. Hopefully I won't end up buying too much stuff. I'm bringing one of each of the three types of covers that we have to practice with.

I like boring appointments better! Although I've measured normally up until now, I measured 2 or 3 weeks behind today, so I have an u/s scheduled for Monday. I'm pumped to devote my weekend to worrying.

  38. immabeetoo

    honeydew / 7687 posts

@mrstricycle oh no! are you talking about the fundal measurement measuring behind? I know telling you not to worry is not helpful - but maybe baby just shifted or moved?? If it is any consolation, I only had a 1 week growth jump when I should've had a 3 week growth jump according to the fundal. I was already getting biophysical ultrasounds, so we know for sure that he's growing how he should - no cause for worry!

    Try not to worry

  39. Mrs. Tricycle

    blogger / pear / 1964 posts

@scg00387: Even though my OB told me not to go home and Google, I couldn't resist. The Internet was actually reassuring - sounds like most of the time it's nothing to worry about. My brother brought over some chocolate chip cookies, so I consoled myself with a few.

  40. ChelseaRose

    persimmon / 1161 posts

@Mrs. Tricycle: Most likely baby is just fine and just moved around in a different position. A month or two ago my measurements were off by a couple weeks, but my OB didn't make a big deal about it. I did end up having an ultrasound to measure growth (due to high bp which can slow growth) and baby actually measured on the big side. Hopefully you can look forward to getting to see your little one another time before baby's actually born.
