Hey Nov 2012 Mamas!

@scg00387: Yeah the ones on the bottom of my belly are three dimensional currently. Hopefully everything will flatten out afterwards.

@scg00387: I'm happy to report that my belly does not look as bad post partum as I thought that it would. I do have some stretch marks, but I was aware of those while I was still pregnant. It is definitely jiggly and has a little bit of a pouch, but I expected worse with a cesarean.

Are you ladies planning to do anything special for the nurses as a thank you? I know many women say that they are going to bake or whatever. I'm having mini-cupcakes sent from a fancy bakery place to both the labor and delivery nurses and the post partum nurses. I was just counting and due to my long hospital stay I was there for parts of at least 8 different L&D shifts (sending them 2 dozen mini-cupcakes) and 3 PP shifts (sending 1 dozen mini-cupcakes). I figured they would appreciate them with a little thank you note from me, husband, and baby.

@chelsearose that is good to hear!I am completely irrational about it - it's not like I pranced around in crop tops and skin tight minis pre-baby so I shouldn't be that upset:/ I am embarrassed by how much it bugs me, but I guess I was really used to the body I've had for a long time.

are you home yet? how is it going?

ETA: I'm thinking I'll send my husband out to pick up something tasty while I'm there and share with the nurses! You're so thoughtful.

@ChelseaRose: I don't plan on providing anything. I figure they are doing their jobs, although I'm sure we will spend a lot of time verbally showing appreciation and, of course, being very respectful of their time and services.

@scg00387: We're home! This is our third full day home. We're doing pretty well so far and as of yesterday I have milk! I was really excited about this because I felt like it took so long to come in (day 5 pp) and was really disappointed with having to supplement with formula. I'm pleased to say that my LO last received formula about 36 hours ago and has been satisfied since then.

    @ChelseaRose: how is breastfeeding going?

I just logged into my patient portal for my OB's office and there is an Induction Appointment already scheduled for December 3rd. Gah! We have not discussed that LOL. Maybe it will come up tomorrow at our next appt.

@highwire: whhhat? i'm going to ask to schedule a tenative one at my appt next week... preferably before thanksgiving even though i really want to NOT be induced...

  11. DillonLion

    GOLD / eggplant / 11517 posts

@mrsjyw: I know, dude. What is the deal with all this induction business! Originally it was "scheduled" for the 16th, before he leaves to go out of town for the holiday! Now it is when I would be 41 weeks, 3 days, which I guess is pretty late...and I might be totally okay with an induction at that point. But phew, just slap it on the calendar why dontcha!

  12. mrsjyw

    GOLD / wonderful apricot / 22646 posts

@highwire: hahahahaha. yea my doc told me he wouldn't let me go past 41 wks. but i don't think he expects me to go over my due date either, but i don't want to get my hopes up!

  13. ChelseaRose

@JessLC: pretty well! My little guy seems satisfied and basically passes out after nursing, which is super cute. We had a really slow start, but now that I have milk I'm confident that it will only continue to get better. It is kinda uncomfortable, but not painful per se. I am trying to figure out comfy clothes that are nursing friendly. I have two nursing tanks from target that are ok, but today i wore my bravado nursing tank and promptly ordered another one. It is so much more supportive for my gigantic boobs (38D before).

How are you and your LO doing?

@ChelseaRose: I am having my mom bring them treats during my delivery, but I really want to do something already for my midwife, whom I love. Not sure what to do...

Glad your milk is in and baby and mama are doing well!

@mrsjyw: @highwire: I maybe over thinking it, but I'm trying to decide when/if i want to be induced if I go to 41 weeks. Its really stressing me out because ive heard a lot of horror stories... long, super painful labors ending in forceps/vacuum/c section. So stressful! Here's hoping all our babies come on their own

  16. mrsjyw

    GOLD / wonderful apricot / 22646 posts

@kml636: me too! i want to avoid an induction as much as possible!!

think my mucus plug is starting to shed... no blood, but definitely gel like mass... sorry for the TMI-- hoping this is a good sign!

@highwire: I wonder if it's hard to get inductions scheduled at your hospital so your OB is just trying to reserve a spot just in case??

@travelgirl1: thinking of you and so excited!!

@ChelseaRose: glad to hear it! bf-ing isn't painful for me yet either, i'm not sure if it will get painful or if it will just be uncomfortable like this forever. but, i can't say i truly enjoy breastfeeding...i feel like a milk machine, which isn't terribly fulfilling!

i just ordered 4 nursing tops from destination maternity. i only had one and two nursing nightgowns which i didn't think was enough. i have two bravado bliss nursing bras which are great and sooo comfy.

unfortunately i think i'm coming down with a cold. i have no idea where i caught it from because i haven't left the apartment since friday. maybe i'm just run down. this whole lack of sleep thing is tough! my lady parts are just starting to feel almost back to normal and i think i'm able to walk normally now too.

@mrsjyw: baby girl was born on the 27th! and @MamaMoose: yay for mucus plugs!! that is progress

@mrsjyw: @JessLC: Im trying not to let myself get too excited since I know you can start losing your plug long before the inset of labor. But I am just SO DONE being pregnant.

@MamaMoose: totally hear ya on this. i was done with being pregs at 36 weeks and by 39 weeks i was cranky, tired, antsy, uncomfortable, etc. my mucus plug started shedding gradually over weeks 37-38. you guys are almost there!

@jesslc sweet thanks i'm going to check it out!

@chelsearose yay milk! glad you're settling in at home

@highwire my OB said 41w is the latest she'd go but, I assume they'll tell me when they want to schedule me haha! I don't even have an appointment set for week 40 since it is Thanksgiving week.

Is it weird to say I'm jealous of mucus? Ew. It is. But excited for @mamamoose and @mrsjyw !

@mrsjyw and @MamaMoose: exciting on the mucus (that sounded gross, sorry!). I think that I might have had a little bit last week but it did not continue.

At my appointment yesterday, my doctor explained that she may have "hooked" my cervix and she told me to be on the lookout for some spotting. It started almost as soon as I got home and I have been spotting now for more than 24 hours. She had explained that she had to reach around the baby's head to do my exam and I am wondering that's what maybe irritated me? It's very strange to be spotting now since I did not spot at all during the entire pregnancy.

Hi ladies! Just a quick note to let you know that I am at the hospital in labor! Could not get to sleep at all last night and woke up with a lot of discomfort around 2:00am. Tried to sleep but wound up taking a shower. Tried to determine if I was really having contractions and I was!

We got to the hospital around 5:00am and I was already 5cm. The contractions were coming every 2-3 minutes and lasting about a minute each. When th doctor checked me, I was already 5cm! I was able to get an epidural at around 6:00am and am now much, much more comfortable!

    I'll keep you posted
