Hey Nov 2012 Mamas!

@highwire let us know how it goes! I liked knowing my cervix was doing *something* because she said it would make an induction more successful than if I weren't dilated at all. So that was comforting ... even if it hasn't done anything else since then lol.

Made it a whole week without gaining any weight! Waiting to see the NP now (doc going in for a delivery)

  3. DillonLion

    GOLD / eggplant / 11517 posts

She checked me since the doc is about to be gone and we wanted to know where I was at. A little dialated and 50% effaced, so making progress but not about to go into labor any minute so that's good.

Having a few too many signs of pre-e which I was worried about, so I have to do a 24 hour urine catch tomorrow (GROSS) and then turn it in and do blood work on Friday...

  4. ChelseaRose

    persimmon / 1161 posts

@highwire: I had to do that too. It was definitely gross and annoying. Hope you get good results.

@highwire oh no!! I actually went in today to get my BP checked because I've had an incurable headache since last night, they took bloodwork but said my urine/BP was fine. That stinks, especially if your doctor is leaving! Did they say if they'd talk early induction or just bed rest?? Sorry to hear that

  6. DillonLion

    GOLD / eggplant / 11517 posts

@scg00387 they didn't say either way.

@ChelseaRose: everything check out okay for you?

@highwire- so sorry to hear about the urine catch but yay for some progress!

  11. ChelseaRose

@highwire: Yes, luckily my urine and blood work always came back fine. For the 24 hour test my protein was 109 and 300 was the cutoff for pre-eclampsia.

Ughhhh, still getting used to my new "sleep" pattern. I have gotten a grand total of about 2-3 hours each night since coming home from the hospital and I think I might have hit a brick wall tonight. All of a sudden, I am wide awake and even though Baby is sleeping, l can't seem to get even sleepy. It's like my body is playing a mean trick on me

Also, this happened this afternoon while he slept- tried to take a nap and couldn't even get sleepy then either.

@highwire: thinking of you mama! Hope u get good results!!

@Meggo5: hope ur sleep comes back!!!

Im up at 4am again... like clockwork ugh.

Bad cramping and sporadic contractions, but no labor or water breakage. I have a feeling that after all this prelabor sign excitement I'm goong to end up being induced next wk...

At least ill get to watch twilight movie this wknd?

@highwire: sorry you're having such a tough time, hope the results come back clear.

@Meggo5: I hear you lady! Some nights I think I get an hour or two total. Ariela sleeps so well during the day but at night the girl's a party animal!

@mrsjyw: Pregnancy insomnia sucks! I'm wide awake too trying to breastfeed, then i'll top up with bottle of pumped milk, then pump again..... But she's worth it : )

  15. Periwinkle

    pear / 1879 posts

@mrsjyw: so sorry you're up again at 4am. The waiting game is definitely the worst. I was on high alert for any signs of labor for 3 weeks and it was exhausting. Hang in there- you're so, so close.

  16. Periwinkle

    pear / 1879 posts

@travelgirl1: I know! It's so hard when they have their days and nights confused. I keep trying to figure out a way to keep C up during the late afternoon (his prime time sleep hour- when I'm most awake and feeling my best all day, usually) and then allowing him to sleep more at night.

How many hours can A go between feedings?

  17. travelgirl1

    cantaloupe / 6630 posts

@Meggo5: well when we had her weighed at three days old she'd lost too much weight so we focused on pumping and waking her for feeds every two hours. Now she's doing amazing and since her latch is so bad we've introduced a nipple shield for breastfeeding and it's helped so much! Sometimes she goes 3 hours between, sometimes 20 minutes, lol. Just now I had to wake her though, I think she could have slept much longer but she sleeps on my chest on a night so when she feels comforted she'll sleep well. It's if I put her on the bassinet she wakes every 5 minutes. Where does C sleep? I swore I'd never co sleep, i was SO against it, but tiredness won out!

@mrsjyw: sorry you're not sleeping well. The last week of pregnancy was some of the worst sleep of my life.

It is 4:30 am here and I'm up nursing for the second time tonight. He's not a bad sleeper, but he's so noisy that I really want to leave him in his crib rather than in the bassinet next to the bed.

@highwire: sorry about the 24 hour urine catch. I hope you get good news!

At my appt yesterday I was still 1cm and 50% effaced. Next appt is the day before Thanksgiving. If I make it until them we'll probably put an induction on the books for the next week. After having pre term labor at 26 weeks I can't believe we are now talking about an induction!!

I have a nasty cold which is making sleep impossible. Plus work has been crazy busy. I'm so ready to get this baby out!!!

  21. DillonLion

    GOLD / eggplant / 11517 posts

@MamaMoose: Same stats as me! Congrats on beating the pre-labor stuff and getting to full term!

My doc will be gone next week of course, but since this appointment brought up a few concerns, they are having me see his backup OB at a different office. I'm glad to meet her since she will be the one delivering me if I go into labor while he is gone.

I've got my big empty jug on ice under my office desk for this damn pee collection thing...can't wait to figure out the logistics of keeping this activity private all day. I kind of want to avoid drinking any fluids today until I get home from work LOL

@travelgirl1: i can't "wait" to join you next+ week to be up for BF instead of this end of preg insomnia!

@Meggo5: thanks mama! ugh, it's such a mental battle! i'm trying to keep myself busy these last few days. i think i will be crying on sunday (due date)... and then will be fine by monday when i can figure out a plan with doc on next week/labor/induction/etc.

@highwire: ugh hope you're hanging in at work ok and that this next 24 hours fly by so you can be done w it!

@mamamoose: get well soon! i'm in the same camp! waiting it out and i think we'll be scheduling an induction for mon/tues before tgiving next week! hang in there mama, i feel your pain! and get well soon !!

  24. DillonLion

    GOLD / eggplant / 11517 posts

@mrsjyw: I thought about that last night! I was like "dang if I have to be up I would love it if there was a sweet baby to take care of or someone to keep me company at least" (DH and my dog were absolutely comatose....

  25. Mrs. Tricycle

    blogger / pear / 1964 posts

@highwire: Oh gosh. That can't be fun at ALL at work....

I'm with all you insomnia ladies! I have no trouble falling asleep at 8:30, but then when DH comes to bed, I wake up and lay there for an hour or two. Last night I convinced myself I was feeling contractions, so I got up and watched TV downstairs, but it was NOTHING. I'm loosing it. They actually changed my due date a few weeks ago -- and I waved goodbye to it yesterday. I'm officially "overdue," so any freaking time now would be great!

Have you thought about the "perfect" time to go into labor? I so don't want it happen during the night, because once it starts, I'm positive I won't sleep at all. If I don't sleep at all, I'm worried I won't have any energy to get through the process!! So, in my dream world, I'd like labor to start at 6:00 AM and I'd like to have a baby in my arms by 8:00 PM. As if.

@Mrs. Tricycle: "I have no trouble falling asleep at 8:30, but then when DH comes to bed, I wake up and lay there for an hour or two."

THIS. Exactly. Between him and my dog, they are really messing with my sleep! I wonder if I didn't get woken up by them if I would just be able to make it through the night (minus the pee breaks)

I've just heard that most people go into labor in the middle of the night (no idea where I got this) so that's what I'm assuming will happen to me.

I wonder why they changed your due date a few weeks ago? I thought dating gets WAY off as time progresses since all babies wind up different sizes at birth, but are all pretty much the exact same size early on at the same dates.

Hi all! I was also up at 4:30. Ugh. Did a membrane sweep today, not fun. At this point I think it will be thanksgiving dinner, ha ha. I go back Tuesday to potentially schedule an induction.

  28. DillonLion

    GOLD / eggplant / 11517 posts

@kml636: Ha can't believe so many of us were all up at the exact same time last night! Hope the membrane sweep gets things going for you!

  29. Mrs. Tricycle

    blogger / pear / 1964 posts

@highwire: Yeah, I'm pretty sure it wasn't so much a "change" as me having originally written down the wrong date.

@highwire: I'm sorry you have to do that on a work day. I was able to do the collection on Sunday and bring it in Monday morning and I thought that was bad.

One "deposit" down. Someone came in right as I began and played the whole "I need to take a poop so I'm going to sit here silently until you leave." game. My favorite.

So, they heard me have to open my cooler, pour the sample into the jug, wash out my retrieval bucket in the sink, pack everything back up, etc.

    JOY.

Hopefully I will only have to do that 1 or 2 more times before the work day is over.

Okay, I just have to RANT for a minute. We were not telling the name Liliana Joy because of people's unsolicited comments. . DH got impatient and told MIL. Well today he wanted me to send a text to her using his phone, and I see all these comments about the name. I guess she is worried about mispronunciation or misspelling so she has suggested all kinds of other names! Ugh! This is why we weren't telling people...

So, did any of you have some discharge going on after having a cervical check? I have had absolutely zero bleeding or colored discharge of any type whatsoever for the duration of pregnancy. But today, I'm having some brown discharge (Gross, sorry). Wondering if it is because of the check yesterday afternoon?

  36. DillonLion

    GOLD / eggplant / 11517 posts

@kml636: UGH I'm sorry. I hate that! People are so pushy about the name. I don't get it.

  37. immabeetoo

@highwire Yes, I have each time and they said it was 100% normal Sorry you have to do the collection at work, that sounds really irritating and awkward! I am under the similar impression that most people go into labor in the middle of the night.. although I have no idea where I got that from!

@kml636 that SUCKS. we had a similar kerfluffle with my parents over the middle name and it was a huge headache. sorry

Had my 39w appointment today.. no cervical changes 1 cm & 50% like @mamamoose! Induction scheduled for the 27th - 40w4d. I'm really stressed about people online and in person getting argumentative about scheduling inductions before 42w and, of course, the prospect of actually being induced.

Last night home alone - at noon tomorrow it is back to pineapple, yoga ball bouncing, and long walks!! Trying to stay calm over the impending move and birth combination... soooo ready for 2013 when we'll be settled in!

  38. Mrs. Tricycle

@kml636: love this name - my 2 cents - don't think it's hard to pronounce or spell.

  39. PrincessBaby

    cantaloupe / 6610 posts

@kml636: I will never understand why people think the names of other people's children is any of their business- even family! My daughter's middle name caused a family scandal and it's like "Hey- you got to name your kids. Let me name mine! Why do you think you can name mine?!?!?" It's just so utterly ridiculous!

@PrincessBaby: @Mrs. Tricycle: @scg00387: @highwire: thanks ladies! We are definitely NOT telling anyone else!

@scg00387: also getting stressed about induction vs waiting, etc. Blood and cramping from cervical sweep so far but no contractions. @highwire: I never had that from a cervical check. Maybe you are about to lose your mucus plug!
