@mrsjyw: That's awesome! I wish DH was home for six weeks, but I guess I feel lucky that he can take two.

@meggo5, @chelsearose, @travelgirl1: we too have had many 'accidents' during diaper change time. She loves to pee immediately after we take the diaper out from under her, even if we intentionally left it there to catch her second-round girl pee just flows right up her back and all over her and her onesie. The other night I changed her two or three times, and she hates having her clothes changed:/
Last night was really hard for us, too. I was up with her from 3-8. Just a constant cycle of fuss, change, nurse, you're asleep?, lay her down, and she wakes back up to fuss and need another change right away. I ended up sobbing from frustration on my part and feeling so bad that she must be SO tired and just couldn't go down. Woke my husband to be with her after another feed and I slept for a couple hours while she continued this way. Now she's been sleeping since 1045 or so and I got more sleep too.
This parenting stuff? It's hard sometimes. I'm lucky my husband is so helpful and available - as well as I feel like things are going I would be an absolute mess without him.

Just got out of doc appt. Induction wed 6am. Got membranes swept to see if that triggers anything before then!

@mrsjyw I think I'm going to ask my OB to do a sweep tomorrow at my appointment - was it awful?? Do you have to get cervadil pre-induction?? Maybe baby will surprise you and come tomorrow!!
GOLD / squash / 13464 posts
@mrsjyw: Hope the sweep works for you! I can't wait to hear about the arrival of your LO!!

@scg00387: wasn't too bad. A longer more uncomfortable cerv chk. Around a min?
@mamamoose ty!! Hope he surprises today or tom!

@mrsjyw: Ah good luck momma! Any reason why they are setting the induction up just a few days past your due date instead of waiting longer? Is it because of the holiday?

@lindseykaye: aw I'm sorry last night was so hard!
I just had a total meltdown with the lactation consultant and cried through the appointment. I'm so sick if hearing how I shouldn't be using a nipple shield and bottles blah blah... The consultant was lovely, showed me how much weight A has put on purely through breastmilk and pointed out she's a little person, she'll do things in her own time and nipple shields, bottles, pumping etc have helped her fly past her birth weight after losing so much early on so to chill, lol. Oh I also cried on the subway. Not my finest hour.
GOLD / eggplant / 11517 posts
@travelgirl1: Aw, it is totally okay to cry! So many hormones going on in addition to the struggles. Hope things start picking up for you soon.
GOLD / wonderful apricot / 22646 posts
@scg00387: @lindseykaye: @Adira: ty!!
@highwire: yup! Sunday would've been the latest he let me go + holiday/dox schedule ~ worked out. Mentally and physically over it. Totally opp from last wk'appt
GOLD / eggplant / 11517 posts
@mrsjyw: Ah I see! Lots of labor vibes for you between now and then!! You've had so many good signs, so I know your bod will be ready for labor whether it comes naturally or they help you along with an induction.
Now that my to-do list is completely finished, I feel like an anxious mess. I can't relax or do anything except come up with more things I think I need to do.
honeydew / 7687 posts
@travelgirl1 aw sorry to hear that if it is any consolation, I'm confident I have cried more during pregnancy than the rest of my life combined (not normally a crier!!). hormones are wicked!
@highwire I feel like a huge rage ball! Everyone keeps saying to sit and soak up the free time and savor it... but I am so sore and grumpy/worried about having to be induced I am getting nothing done productive nor relaxing. Ugh!
GOLD / eggplant / 11517 posts
@scg00387: Aw yeah my mom called me while I was at the grocery store and was like "why aren't you resting????" First of all, I can't get comfortable enough to rest, and second of call, I am too anxious to relax anyway, so there's no hope here.
GOLD / squash / 13464 posts
@scg00387: hahahaha yes to rage ball!!! EVERY SINGLE PERSON in my office today couldn't believe that I was still at work. In addition to being so close to D Day I also have a cold and I ended up just coming home after lunch because despite the fact that I wanted to be at work to distract myself I was just so sick of everyone telling me to go home and rest.
honeydew / 7687 posts
@highwire LOL I hear that!! Mine calls each morning and starts with "are you in labor!" and then follows with "wellll get some rest". Ugh. Love her but.. yeah.
@mamamoose I can't imagine! That sucks that your cold is hanging around I'm purell-ing myself like there is no tomorrow because I'm terrified of getting sick!

@travelgirl1: Aw, so sorry to hear that...nothing to worry about though, I'm sure they have seen it before.
@mrsjyw: I'm JEALOUS!!!! But, good for you!! There was zilch going on at my appointment. I was the exact same as last Thursday. Have to go back for another NST on Friday and plan is to induce on Monday. That's alright though, at least I may be able to make Thanksgiving with my fam after all!
@highwire: @scg00387: I hear you on not being able to relax. I'll be two dates past my due date tomorrow and still plan to go to work. ("Working" from home today b/c of my dr. appt.) I figured it's worth it to suck it up and go into the office for the two days vs. starting leave today and using a full week of FMLA w/o baby.
pomegranate / 3225 posts
@mrsjyw: did they tell you how they will induce you? I have the option now, I guess they will start me with cervadil overnight then pitocin the next day. I'm trying to decide if I want to just start tomorrow night or give it a few more days. But with the holiday, things are complicated... Ugh. The is just no black and white answer I guess.

Just got done with an acupuncture appointment - want this baby on the outside!! See the black dot in my ear? Apparently it's is the pressure point for my uterus. It's like a super sticky sticker. I'm supposed to rub it whenever I remember to.

@Mrs. Tricycle: interesting!! I have an acupuncture appt next Wednesday if nothing has happened by then
blogger / pear / 1964 posts
@lindseykaye: @travelgirl1: It sounds hard! I feel like I should have bought stock in some tissue brand, as I anticipate a LOT of frustrated/over-tried crying on my part!
@mrsjyw: One way or another, it will be soon!! I see some hospital turkey in your future.
GOLD / wonderful apricot / 22646 posts
@kml636: nope not yet. Will depend on where I'm at wed am as far as progression. I totally understand being torn. I felt selfish and impatient for no reason. It just worked out with doc/holiday schedule... still hoping he surprises us before induction but it feels so good to have an end in sight.
@SLR: I've only progressed .5cm since last wk. Hoping this sweep does somwthing. Hang in there mama!
@Mrs. Tricycle: yup looks like tgivinh in hosp this yr. We don't carw can't wait to meet him!!!!

@mrsjyw: how exciting! Good luck with the induction!
@travelgirl1: I had a melt down in front of my lactation specialist as well. I also had various meltdowns here and there. I'm glad to hear that I am not the only one having it.
Looking forward to seeing hearing more about babies coming! Good vibes to everyone, both to mamas to be and to new mamas!

@mrstricycle I could never do that, my ears are ticklish ha! I would love to try accupuncture... going to go Google and see if I find anyone intriguing. I've been rubbing the accu-pressure points without any luck this week
I think November babies live longer lives because they hang around in the womb so long!! (http://www.newscientist.com/article/dn22054-autumn-babies-more-likely-to-hit-100.html)

@clery: @travelgirl1: count me in as another meltdowner. LO has started to fight me with the latching on and I don't know why but it is so frustrating because she fights, feeds for like 5 minutes and unlatches and then 15 minutes later she is fussing and making hungry noises again. Repeat cycle for the entire afternoon. I truly despise breastfeeding right now, guys. Its so stressful. And I feel guilty about it.
GOLD / squash / 13464 posts
@JessLC: don't feel guilty about it!! That sounds really tough! Maybe she's just too hungry to latch well? Could you pump and give her a bottle to fill her up and then try again in a while?
pomegranate / 3225 posts
@Mrs. Tricycle: I have one there also and have had them in my ankles, shoulders, and hands for two weeks! DH is supposed to be massaging them daily. I'm hoping although my 5 acupuncture sessions in the past 2 weeks have not induced labor, they will make it go faster... And since it couldn't hurt I'm glad I did it.

I haven't posted much recently, but I'm still hanging around still pregnant too...due date is in a week. Had a doctors appt. today and am at least 2cm dilated and baby girl is soooooooo low. The doctor can't believe I'm still walking around and she hasn't fallen out yet (haha).
olive / 61 posts
@JessLC: Don't feel guilty about it. I completely understand what you are going through. LO was fighting so hard my specialist had to tell me to put some extra force to get him to latch. I also ended up getting a perscription nipple cream which helped.
I've been doing a lot of crying, especially when the sun sets for some strange reason. It definitely helps to have somebody to talk to.

Question for you ladies... For those of you who have had cramping after cervical checks, did it seem to go on for some time?
My appointment was at 11am (where I was told I was the same as last Thursday) and I felt fine all afternoon. But for the past couple hours I've had some bad cramping/contraction-like feelings - not unbearable pain, but definately uncomfortable and worse than anything I've had before. It's been every 4-5 minutes and lasting about 45 seconds each time. I can't imagine that it could be the start of labor, just based on what the doc said today and because they didn't start slower/milder and build from there.
Did any of you ever get like this post-exam?
blogger / pear / 1964 posts
@SLR: yes! I had my first cervical exam last Friday afternoon, and have had some pretty serious pelvic cramping since.
cantaloupe / 6630 posts
@highwire: @scg00387: @SLR: @Mrs. Tricycle: Thank you : ) Considering I was so unemotional during pregnancy (apart from the last few weeks) these pp hormones are a bitch. The other day I cried because I forgot to put a hat on her when I took her out. I felt SO bad about it. I need toughen up.
@clery: Was your lactation specialist good? We've seen about five now, plus doctors and student doctors and everyone has a different opinion! The one today was great but I think I'd reached my limit with all the advice. She was the first one to really make it make sense in terms of who cares if you have to pump and use bottles and nipple shields, your baby's doing great, it doesn't matter how she gets the breastmilk, and when she's ready to latch she will. How can bottles and shields be so bad when she's putting on 40g a day?
@JessLC: Aw it's so stressful when they fight you isn't it? A pulls at her face with her fingers and turns her head side to side really fast trying desperately to latch on. The LC today said she just wasn't patient enough yet, but she'd learn. Also at one point she started crying at the breast about 15 minutes after starting to feed, and the LC said it was probably because my flow had slowed down and she was too impatient, so we switched her to the other side and she nursed like a champ. Could that be the problem with your little one, that she's frustrated when the flow slows?

@Mrs. Tricycle: Oooh that acupressure point is cool! Hope it works!
@petuniasandpearls: Exciting stuff, hope baby girl makes an appearance soon!
@mrsjyw: Oooh that's great that you've got a date!

@travelgirl1: Our lactation specialist is part of our collaborative care program and so far she has been wonderful. She gives us different options and supports our decision. LO lost 10% of his birth weight and she immediately suggested topping it off with formula and to pump to encourage supply to build. Now that my milk has come in, we are not using the formula as a top up but rather pumped breast milk. In our last appointment after I had a breakdown, she basically asked me what would I like to make things easier and she was going to incorporate it into our breastfeeding plan... I really appreciated that.
The whole program has been that way: be educated on the different options out there and they will support your decision. I hope you can start building a good relationship with the one you met today. All the suggestions are very overwhelming, and I feel for you. Big hugs!
