@Sugar.Biscuit: oh no! Praying for you and the babies! I hope if they have to come they have strong and healthy lungs and won't have to be in the nursery too long!

I get to go home!!! I'm on bed rest & will be seen twice a week till some thing changes. After touring the NICUlast night this was the last thing we were expecting to hear. The dr still thinks I'll deliver earlier than 38 weeks but for right now our babies get to keep cooking!

@Sugar.Biscuit: That's great news! You'll be so much more relaxed at home anyway. Put those feet up mama and keep those babies cooking! Hooray!

@Sugar.Biscuit: Are you feeling good? I know it wasn't the birth you wanted, and if you want to talk about any disappointment you might have feel free to wall me. How big are the babies now?

Had my 38 week check up today… I was 1 cm dilated and 75% thinned out. I never expected to make it this far in the pregnancy because DS was early. Since I am hoping for a VBAC, my midwife also stripped my membranes today in hopes to keep things moving. Otherwise, I have a scheduled c-section for January 3rd. But, my midwife thinks we could be having a baby this weekend! Crazy! I am nervous but excited! I have a few things I could do yet, but I really just want to nap!

@Sugar.Biscuit: good luck and let those babies bake

Thanks for all your support & encouragement ladies. This has not been easy & even though I am bored & on bed rest all day I find it hard to pop over here & focus long enough to give proper responses to everyone. @MamaBehr: Thanks on the 11th they were measuring at 4.5 & 5#'s
@Emsmems: @Lindsay05: Thanks Laides. I can't help but mind F**K myself over a lot of the S&S I keep having but so far they are still baking.
@creativemomma15: That's such exciting news! FX for you. I'll be watching the boards for your announcement
I see the specialist again on Monday & Thursday this coming week. Then the following week we will deliver... To think I went from the bottom of our list to the top pretty dang quick.

@Emsmems: Thanks for the update! I am hoping that my sweet little boy can stay put for the next three days, I don't want to miss Christmas. It's hard to believe that on Friday I will no longer be pregnant!

@MamaBehr: That is insane! And also very exciting!
@Vegmama: Me too! I would be happy to hold out until New Years and then please exit my uterus

I can't believe some of y'all are "ready!" Lol. I still have 2 showers on Jan 4/5th that I need to wait for to finish getting the rest of what we need. There hasn't been a whole lot that's been bought off the registry. but I'm sure it'll all work out and be fine! At least, that's what I'm telling myself, haha.

Just got done with my appointment. Baby girl was moving a ton in the ultrasound. The tech kept commenting on how much she was moving, haha. We got to see her sticking her tongue out and her hand was doing a "hang ten."
She's also measuring almost 2 weeks ahead! She's in the 79th percentile and if their measurements are spot on, she'll be about 8lbs+ at birth.
It was so fun to see her moving around.

Officially full term today!! I'm ready for this little guy to come! Working is getting hard, I'm constantly sore and tired. I know I'll just trade one tired for another when he's here, but at least I won't have to work too and he will be in my arms!
nectarine / 2458 posts
@Emsmems: do you count 37 weeks as full term? My midwife calls 37 weeks "pre term" and 38-42 weeks full term, then you're late term.
persimmon / 1331 posts
@Navy_Mommy: yeah. Just recently (last month or so) it came out that 37 weeks should be considered late pre-term, so it's kind of a gray area where some are adopting the new definition, some aren't. I like considering myself term, and most 37 week babies don't have any issues, so I'm going with being term I'm sure I won't be having this guy in the next week to worry about it anyway!

Had my 39 week appointment yesterday. A few months ago (I think at 27 weeks), I had my iron tested, and it was extremely low. After really focusing on iron rich foods & a natural iron supplement, I found out the my 37 week draw was low again. SO BUMMED! My iron stores went up, but my circulating iron went down. With a home birth planned, I'm a little nervous, and really hoping I have at least 2 more weeks before the baby arrives to double my supplement & increase my numbers.
The midwife told me that if baby is born when my iron is low, my body will focus on replenishing iron way more than it will make breastmilk.
Okay, rant over. Hope you ladies are enjoying getting close or reaching full term! I still can't believe we've had three December babies!! Any day now!
nectarine / 2458 posts
@Emsmems: my midwife has always considered 37 weeks early term. Maybe she's just ahead of the times? She's like 72 years old though, lol.
pear / 1799 posts
@Navy_Mommy: Our midwife (one of them) is old, too! She knows that 37 weeks is "full term", but says to not get too excited until we reach the due date ... Babies can use every day in there to keep growing.
I still got REALLY excited about reaching 37 weeks!

Had an appointment today (I'm 35w6d) and my midwife decided to check me since I've had a lot of pressure and she was doing the GBS anyway. According to her I'm "very soft" and about 1cm. I know it doesn't mean much, but I was only 1cm when my water broke last time so it's exciting! She said I'll have a baby that's a bit more than 7.5 pounds and he'll be here in three weeks. Last time she predicted the weekend my son would be born and said he'd be about 7.5 pounds and he ended up being 7 pounds 6 ounces. So I trust her instincts, lol.
I asked when I could start primrose oil and she responded "you don't need that... I just touched your sons head!" lol.

@Navy_Mommy: lol, wow! That sounds promising! I start my weekly checks on Tuesday, so we'll see if I'm dialated or anything.
