@Pipers Mommy: Yay CONGRATS!!!
@eiko2010: I have been thinking the same thing...with the Holidays, the time is going to FLY and its kind of scary!

So the scan was long...I think everything is ok, but they don't tell you anything which is really annoying! I should hear back on Thurs or Fri. Dylan was squirming a ton (which he always does) so it was hard for her to get what she needed. After an hour, she brought another lady in that she called "The Baby Whisperer." She literally repeated almost the entire ultrasound but just much more quickly. I hope that still means everything is ok. I saw 4 chambers in the heart...the brain looked good to me...and definitely all limbs and parts are in place.

Sorry to be MIA for so long. i was away on vacation week and came down with a horrible cold. We had our anatomy scan today. Baby is looking perfect. We found out that our jellybean is a girl. My parents are over the moon as it's their first granddaughter after three grandsons. I'm so glad baby is healthy. I really didn't have a preference. My hubs is a little sad that were not having a boy.

@eiko2010: Yes, that makes two girls for me! They'll be 18 months apart so hopefully BFFs
Baby Girl is measuring a little big...20W 5 days on most measurements and I just completed 19 weeks yesterday. Doesn't think there is anything to worry about just said MD will do another scan later on if she is nervous about it. I was really surprised by this since I haven't gained any weight yet.

@kayakgirl73: Congrats on baby girl! Hope you're feeling better from your cold - being sick when pregnant is the WORST.

I have the worst cold right now...I cant take anything really...what should I do???
honeydew / 7504 posts
@shoemama: Did you talk to your OB? I had a horrible cold about a month ago. My PCP wrote me a script for a nasal spray but of course the only one approved in pregnancy is not covered by my insurance and would have cost me $150 out of pocket. So the phamacist told me that most OBs are ok with sudafed (the real stuff behind the counter). I called my OB and she did say it is ok, for a few days, to break up the congestion. It helped TREMENDOUSLY.

@eiko2010: thank you! no I havent called my OB yet. I just figured I couldnt take anything. i should probably call her. thanks for your help!

@Pipers Mommy: It makes me feel a lot better knowing that you haven't gained any weight. I haven't either, and I keep thinking that I should've by now. I'm eating what I feel like is enough... not dieting or anything. But I don't have a huge appetite, usually, either. Has your dr. raised any concerns about lack of weight gain?
kiwi / 537 posts
@allison: No concerns, I actually lost 20+ lbs with my last pregnancy before I gained anything. There are lots of days that I don't have much of an appetite and just eat because I know I have to.
My MD would prefer that I only gain 11-20lbs total anyway so I am in a good place at this point.

@allison: At 21w4d I've gained a pound. At my last appointment my doc said that as long as I was eating healthy meals that she wasn't worried. I find that I eat less now that I'm pregnant. I'm full after half a sandwich...

Anyone else having issues with headaches? No matter what I do I seem to have one daily. Any other remedies other than Tylenol? I had taken extra strength, which worked if taken with a coke. Bbut found out that was a no no on the extra strength. The regular strength doesn’t help even when taken with a coke for caffeine And I dont want to be taking too it often so I am lookign for ideas.
pear / 1895 posts
@pinkb: wait, you can't take extra strength Tylenol?? I didn't even know they made the regular kind anymore... I try not to take any meds regardless, but this is good to know just in case.
pear / 1895 posts
@pinkb: also, yes I have had some headaches, but can't seem to nail down any triggers. I'm not drinking any caffeine, but sometimes eat chocolate. Does dark chocolate have enough caffeine in it to trigger a headache? I don't do anything for them though. Just wait it out. Try to drink some extra water in case I'm getting dehydrated. I think I read somewhere it could have to do with your blood sugar level? Maybe try eating a piece of fruit? IDK.
pomelo / 5628 posts
@pinkb: I take Tylenol & a coke when I get a migraine (I've had 2). My doctor never mentioned anything about extra strength. I would think if it's not often, it's ok. I just only take meds when I HAVE to.
I am in awe of all of you who haven't gained weight! I've gained over 12 pounds, not exactly sure what my starting weight was since I didn't see OB until 9 weeks and I feel huge!!! I've been nearly the same weight for like 10 years so it's kind of hard for me even though I know it's pretty normal. (My sis gained weight along about the same timelines during her pregnancy.) I imagine we'll all pretty much even out towards the end...
@coacheswife123: Yay for another boy!
pomelo / 5628 posts
@allison: Yes, chocolate is a trigger for some people. A cold compress on the head and/or a dark room is also helpful (not being in front of the computer!) : )
GOLD / grapefruit / 4007 posts
@pinkb: @allison: my OB okay'd extra strength tylenol as long as I didn't go over the recommended amount. I had horrible headaches for about a month and usually took 2 pills every other day !
