@Mrs Green Grass: i was hoping for a boy - so we are thrilled!!! I've gained 9 lbs so far at 19 weeks. My OB said she was happy with that and if she's happy, I'm happy! And I think you are right, most people will even out towards the end!!

@coacheswife123: That makes me feel a bit better. I think I will ask my Dr cause it was the nurse practitioner who said it at my last appointment. I just need relief.

@allison: I cut out all caffine when I found out I was pregnant. I try to stick to it except to help with headaches. I feel as if I drink enough water cause that is all I drink, but I think I am gonna pay closer attention and add it up through out the day to make sure I am.

@pinkb: if you're not consuming any caffeine, wouldn't drinking a coke or whatever actually make the headache worse? That's been my experience, anyway. I drank a decent amount of coffee before TTC, but now I can't even drink 4 oz of coke without getting a horrible caffeine headache.

@allison: not for me, it really helps me when taken with the extra strength tylenol. But yes in general caffeine can be a trigger for people. Before pregnancy the only headache reliever that worked for me was excedrine or goodies powder, they both contain caffeine. So i think that is why the coke trick works for me.

@allison: It depends on the type of headache. With a migraine or a similar headache, the blood vessels in your head actually expand. (It's awesome. Really.) And caffeine helps them to contract.

@Mrs Green Grass: thats really interesting, i have never heard that before. I have always had bad headaches, but they werent daily. I figured I am getting them now because of the extra blood my body has to move around now. The NP didnt seem to think it was a big deal, unless they get worse in intensity.

@pinkb: @Mrs Green Grass: huh, that is very interesting! I don't think I've ever had a migraine (they sound awful, btw. My sympathies!). Mine are usually sinus-related, I think. And those powder things have never worked for me. I'm learning a lot here! Ha.

By the way, this is sort of off-topic, but caffeine-free coke is so good! I had it for the first time last week. Drink a glass every once in awhile when I'm craving a coke and nothing else will do. Try it if you haven't already &, like me, have coke cravings every now and again!

@Mrs Green Grass: don't be in awe. I just had some spare chub to start with. My belly is big but my bum has gotten smaller.

I haven't had problems with headaches but can hear my heartbeat and blood rushing in my ear when I go to sleep. It's SUPER annoying. Does anyone else hear their blood?

@pinkb: tylenol was the only pain reliever I was approved to take and it seriously saved me when I was having headaches every day. Call your doc and they should be able to recommend something. i hope you get some relief soon girl - i know that is SO miserable!

@Mrs Green Grass: Im with you on being jealous of not gaining weight... Im nervous to go to the OB tommorow and see how much I've gained in the last 3 weeks... Im pretty sure Im up 12lbs....going on 21 weeks..

So much has happened since I've last been on here in a week though! I feel like everyone is finding out! Hopefully Ill know tomorrow after our appointment so I can finally join the club in knowing what's been moving around in there.

@oliviaoblivia: I've experienced something like that a few times... I would lay down at night and could feel my heart thumping and blood pumping and I could hear it in my ears... It creeped me out a bit but I think it's because of how much harder our hearts are working and pumping all that extra blood ?

@oliviaoblivia: I don't have that when I'm going to sleep, but i used to get it every time I climbed stairs. It's calmed down recently though.

@pinkb: My doc totally ok'd extra strength tylenol. I've been a migrain-sufferer for years, and my go-to was always Excedrin. My OB ok'd that, too, in moderation, except that it's been pulled from the shelves, so I can't find at the moment. So when I have gotten a headache or migraine in pregnancy, I've taken 2 ES Tylenol and had a cup of half-caf coffee. Despite being a coffee drinker for years, now that I've quit, full-caf doesn't agree with me. Definitely check with your OB. Drinking lots of water and taking a nap helps, too, but that's obviously not always possible in the middle of the work day! Good luck, and I hope you find something that works for you!

@coacheswife123: Yay, another boy in the group! Congrats!

@heartsnsunshine: @oliviaoblivia: Yes, I definitely get the heart-thumping thing. I have had mild palpitations for a few years now, since I was put on a medication that can cause that (for migraines, actually). I thought it was just related to that, but interesting to see that others have experienced it in pregnancy, as well.

My only really "weird" symptom is that I have these little red spots all over my chest. The best way to describe them is like little pin-pricks. I asked my OB about it last night and she said it's just pregnancy-related and they'll probably go away once I deliver. I hope so. They're ugly.

@heartsnsunshine: @dagret: Good luck at your scans today!

It's a BOY! We are excited. I'm a smidge disappointed that it's not a girl, with all of the boys in the family, but excited to have a little boy after all this time! My FIL said, and i quote, "I guess we're just not strong enough to knock the nuts off of 'em." He's quite a character.

We are naming it L. H. - DH's family tradition - so now we have to come up with a boy's L name.

The ultrasound tech said my placenta's near or covering my cervix so i'll have to have another ultrasound. I'm not worrying about anything until I have something to worry about though. i have my 20 week dr. appointment next week.

@allison: What I thought were just sinus-induced "headaches" are actually migraines - generally, if your head stops hurting if you sit still or in a quiet, dark room, it's a migraine. Mine are weather-induced. I can always tell when a high pressure system is coming in.

@dagret: yay! welcome to team blue! my placenta is sitting low too, although not covering my cervix. My doc said that as my uterus grows it should draw my placenta up - she didn't seem too concerned and said they would keep an eye on it. it makes me feel better to know someone else in here is having placenta issues too, haha!

my favorite boy name is Luke! I also love Lucca

    so proud for you guys!

@coacheswife123: Thanks! Luke is out, it's DH"s brother's name. And DH hates Luca. He hates most of the L names we find...he's got to land on one of them!

@edelweiss: Woohoo, congrats on Team Blue! This is so exciting, seeing what everyone is having!

@dagret: @edelweiss: My office did the same thing. Told me to come with a full bladder, but when I got there the tech told me to empty it. What a relief - I'm not sure I could have lasted the whole scan! It's so uncomfortable having THAT FULL of a bladder!

So all of a sudden, my tummy is feeling very crowded. I cannot believe that there will possibly be room for this kid to keep on growing! I try to sit up super-straight to try to "create" more room, but after too long my back starts to hurt!
