@sunshineandsushi: Glad to hear your appointment went well!
@Rescuemom10: @jedeve: I hope you guys are able to find work. I can imagine what an added stressor that must be.
@dagret: I'm just starting to feel actual kicks and punches. I feel them all over, so I just sit there wondering what the heck he's doing in there! It's so wild!

Thanks everyone. Trying to hard not to stress and really hope whichever company won the contract will just hire me on. Hope to know more next month. Until then I just need to tr yto not think about it!
How is everyone feeling? I feel I cant complain, I never really got sick, I have not gained much weight, no crazy sym. Knock on wood I feel pretty lucky.
I have another u/s next Monday and am anxious to see our little girl again. Its the last u/s scheduled, typically they dont do any more...I hate the idea that it may be the last time we get to see her until she is born though! : (

Feeling good! I'm having a little RLP today but it usually goes away so I'm hoping it will soon!

I did my first prenatal yoga class last night. It was a little new-agey, but overall I liked it.
I had this crazy muscle cramp deep inside my hip in the middle of the night the other night. I thought it might be RLP, but my doctor said no. I also think I have a pinched nerve on top of my hip flexor. It's been feeling weird (not painful) and then last night at yoga, the entire region (skin) went numb. Super weird, but probably not a major issue.
I'm just feeling really uncomfortable. I can't really envision dealing and continuing to get bigger and bigger for 4 1/2 more months!!

@Mrs Green Grass: i LOVE prenatal yoga! I've been doing a DVD but am thinking about looking into an actual class instead because the DVD is getting old. My DVD is a little hippy-dippy for me too, but I just ignore it! The stretching feels sooo good to me.
I hope your hip feels better, but good to hear it isn't serious!

@Rescuemom10: good luck with your ultrasound today! I have another in late oct to check on my placenta, or we'd be done with the ultrasounds.
Seems like we're in a pretty boring part of our pregnancy (that's good!). I'm just trying to get a move on the clearing out of the baby's room and registering.

Thanks guys. I had an interview on Tuesday and I thought it went well. It was for a part time position at this think tank as an administrative assistant, but with the option to do some public policy research on the side. Which would be *awesome* because I just finished my master's and it's hard to find a part time/temporary job that actually uses your skills, you know? And get this - it goes through December. Yay, right?
Find out in the interview they got extra funding and extended the position to a year long. And of course they were like, "Yeah, it's part time, but during January it'll be closer to full time because we'll need someone to help out during the legislative session January-March."
Ugh. Of course. If they offer it to me, I'll see if taking time off is a possibility...but I doubt it. And part of me wants to stay at home after the baby for a bit, especially since we'll probably be moving next August. But working part time would be so ideal.
Looking back, I would never have TTC not having a job in hand. I just didn't expect so many jobs to be ruled out because of logistical reasons like this. I had one bad experience getting turned down for a job because I was pregnant (no, they didn't technically say that, but they told me when I called the HR department to complain it was because I didn't live in the town I said I lived in (WTF?) and that I should "reapply because I was a perfect candidate" even though the woman who would be my boss interviewed me and spent half of talking very hostilely about my pregnancy).
I applied at a temp agency a month ago and still nothing!! We're OK financially, all though we could sure use the money, but I feel pretty silly being a SAHW. SAHM is fine, SAHW seems a little odd in this day and age.
pomelo / 5628 posts
@jedeve: That must be so frustrating! I'm sorry you're having to deal with it while pregnant!
Ladies...I had some pink spotting this morning and it's totally ruined my day. I walked a little more than normal yesterday and was exhausted last night (went to bed before 9). This morning I peed and had a BM and found the pink. The second time I went to the bathroom it was basically gone (I'm about to go again and check...I'm going to be a crazy-person today!)
I really don't feel like it's anything, but I really wish it wasn't there!! I haven't spotted in a long time and it was never pink.
Anyone else??
pomegranate / 3643 posts
@Mrs Green Grass: Not to be gross, but are you sure it's not from the BM?
honeydew / 7504 posts
@Mrs Green Grass: Other than calling your OB's office (which I see from your other post you've already done), I don't really have much advice. But I'm thinking of you and hope it all turns out to be nothing. Keep us posted!

I think it's gone away...i'm now just over-analyzing every twinge I have...
pear / 1599 posts
@Mrs Green Grass: I have had some brown and some pink. I think it was from a BM as it usually happened right after but it has also happened on days wehre I think I over exert myself a bit. I have not let it bother me too much as it was such a small amount, and gone after a couple trips to the bathroom. If it were to get any worse I would call the Dr. But as it happens without any cramps and it is not red I have just been thinking it was ok. But I had spotting up thru like the first 6 or 7 weeks so I am not really too suprised when I see it.
pomelo / 5628 posts
@pinkb: I've had tons of different types of spotting throughout, but never pink - that's the only reason today bothered me. But it seems to be done, so back to normal.

@jedeve: Fingers crossed for you. I understand the frustration of it all!!! Ugh!
@Mrs Green Grass: Glad it stopped. Keep us updated!
@dagret: Thanks bunches I just got back from it now!
It went really well. I def feel more confident that its a girl now. We got much clearer pictures! Yay! However she still like to be all curled up but at least didnt have her legs tightly crossed this time...but I do have to go back and do it again because the tech could not get all the shots he needed of her heart. I meet with my actual doctor on Wednesday to go over the results of todays u/s, but feel pretty cinfident it all went well.
So I go back on the 1st to see if we cant see the other angles of the heart we need. Just not looking fwd to holding my 32oz again but I am excited I get to see her again!!!!! : )
grapefruit / 4235 posts
@Rescuemom10: glad it went well, even though they didn't get pics of her heart. At least youll get to see her again soon!
@mrs green grass: hope your spotting stopped!
The baby had hiccups last night! I realized my stomach was moving like crazy, really rhythmically It was really cool...until it lasted for about 45 min. Then I was ready to go to sleep. Ha.
I decided this am that my regular work pants were too tight to wear anymore. But I need to stop buying maternity clothes- at least for now- I have lots of stuff I haven't worn yet.

@Rescuemom10: Glad you're US went well. Our girl was in "poor fetal position" for her heart measurement too so we got to go back for another.
@Mrs Green Grass: Hope you are still feeling better with no more spotting.
@dagret: Hiccups! I'm jealous. I haven't felt any yet but I'm looking forward to it. So cool.
How is everyone doing? Any milestones? Completed DIY?
We hit 24 weeks on Saturday and its a small relief to know that baby girl could make it on the outside should anything bad happen.

Thanks everyone. Everything is a-ok and we listened to a super strong HB on the home doppler last night.
I'm feeling movement all the time now which is nice. I still can't tell a pattern, but I feel him every few hours or so.
I feel like we'll never get our nursery done! (or started) But I feel like the registry is pretty solid.
I'll be 24 next Thurs. Anxiously awaiting...
honeydew / 7504 posts
@dagret: Oh my gosh, I can't believe you were still able to wear your regular pants. I've been full maternity for probably a month now!
@Mrs Green Grass: So glad to hear everything is ok now!
We finished painting the nursery and all that's left are a couple of touchups, which we're doing tonight and then it'll be done! My mom and stepdad are coming down on Sunday to help us pick up the crib and dresser and bring them into the house. My order of paper lanterns came in, so I'm anxious to hang them up and see my mobile idea come together!
I'll be 24 weeks tomorrow, which is so insane. I'm feeling him move more and more, though still not regular enough that I can notice a consistent pattern yet. But it's so cool to feel him move around, and Hubs actually finally felt him, too!
GOLD / grapefruit / 4007 posts
We've made some nursery progress too. Next on my to do list is bedding/window treatments!
I'm 22 weeks today and my lower back is KILLING me and my sides were sore when I woke up. Blah. My sides feel better so I think it was just from how I was sleeping but this lower back has GOT to give!
pomelo / 5628 posts
@coacheswife123: After I had my REALLY GOOD massage, my lower back has been totally fine. I was having upper back pain from sleeping, but I read that you shouldn't have an arm under your pillow (that's how I always sleep). I've been sleeping on my shoulder instead and I see a huge improvement in my sleep position and the pain is gone.
I'm so picky that I didn't get a pregnancy pillow. I use 2 down pillows (that's what was already on my bed). One flatter one between my legs and one really fluffy one that I can wrap my arm around so that my shoulders stay in their normal positions.
GOLD / grapefruit / 4007 posts
@Mrs Green Grass: oooh I sleep with my arm under my pillow too- I'll have to try to re position tonight!
pineapple / 12053 posts
@Mrs Green Grass: where does your arm go? my back has been killing me when i wake up.
pomelo / 5628 posts
@birdofafeather: Lay down flat on your side, then just bend your arm (it'll be just a little in front of your body) and rest it on pillow in front of your face. Does that make sense? It's a little hard to get used to if you don't normally sleep that way, but it seems to be working.
You also want your hips to be square. And the pillow should be pulled down tight toward your shoulder...no gap.
honeydew / 7504 posts
@Mrs Green Grass: Ugh, I am DESPERATE for a good massage. Hubs hinted yesterday that maybe he'll get me a spa day for our anniversary. I'm so hoping he actually does it. I think it would help my back so much. It feels better after he gives me a quick back rub, so I can't imagine the relief after a full 1-hour massage!

I've been working on our registry, trying to pick stuff out. Are all of you planning to use and infant car seat? If so, which one have you decided to go with and why?
About the sleep, I haven't been doing as well as before the last couple nights, but here's my set-up: I bought a memory foam topper for the bed, which helped SO much with hip pain. I also decided against a pregnancy pillow and have opted to create my own little pillow nest with some I already had. I use a regular one under my head, a king-size between my legs (pulled up high enough to drape my arm over too), and a regular, flattish one behind my back/kind of pushed underneath my side. The one on my back keeps me from rolling over onto my back when I'm sleeping, and has actually really helped with the back pain. I guess it gives my back some support. Sometimes I sleep kind of halfway on my side/on my back, propped up on the back pillow. That helps my back, too.
I've also been using one of those foam rollers on my back every night before going to bed to stretch out my muscles (feels so good!), and that's seemed to help as well. It's also great for legs/calves to prevent cramping.

BTW, I'm using an online universal registry called BabyList, and I love it! I'd tried Amazon and MyRegistry.com, but I like BabyList so much more. If you're looking for a good universal registry, check it out.
Also, if you sign up through my link: http://babyli.st/a/BL178 I get a $5 Amazon gift card or something.
But regardless if you use my link or not, definitely check the site out. So easy to use, it looks great, and you get your own url (which you can choose) so it's easy to include on shower invitations, etc.

@allison: We did decide to go with an infant. We chose the Graco Snugride 30. We opted for the 30 vs the 35 because most of what I've read says that by 35 pounds, they're too long for it anyway, so it's a waste of money. And we chose the Graco over the Chicco Keyfit for no reason other than price. Both got fantastic reviews, but the Graco is cheaper by about $50. We'll upgrade to a combination seat when the time comes. It's an added expense that we don't really need, but...I just feel a little safer knowing he'll be in a seat designed specifically for tiny little infants.

Anyone have recs on a good SUPPORTIVE comfortable bra. I bought a new bra when I was probably 14 weeks or so and I was up to a 36DDD I want something i can wear and be comfy in every day!
GOLD / grapefruit / 4007 posts
@allison: we are going with the Chicco Key Fit! It got great reviews and the price seemed middle of the line for us!
pineapple / 12793 posts
@allison: We're skipping the infant car seat and getting the Britax Boulevard convertible seat. We live downtown and I walk everywhere and we're expecting a big baby. It seems wasteful to buy an infant seat that we'll only be able to use a handful of times.
As for sleep, I have a configuration of random pillows that sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. It sounds similar to what other people have done - one under my head, one behind my back, one between my knees, and one under my belly. I've definitely woken up partially on my stomach though which is apparently "ok" but still freaks me out. I think having the tempurpedic mattress makes my belly sink in more than on a conventional bed.

I am sooo sick! I woke up Monday morning and felt like I was coming down with something. By Monday evening I felt Horrible. I was up all Monday night until like 6am the following morning so sick I could barely breathe and then when i coughed I was vomiting...it was horrible. I am a little better today but just can not beleive how fast it all hit me.
I had an appt with my Doc this morning. Results from our u/s were all good so thats a plus. Just need to go back in for clearer shots of the heart but they dont sound worried at all.
Came into work after my appointment and found out that I probably for 6 plus weeks will have to move to nights starting sometime in Oct. I am NOT Happy about that at all. Especially because I dont even know if I am going to have this job after Dec 1st and I feel like I am just getting screwed even more. I really hope SOMETHING good comes from work sometime soon, just seems to be getting worse and worse.
GOLD / grapefruit / 4007 posts
@Rescuemom10: no good. feel better soon! and I would not be too thrilled about working nights either. i REALLY hope something works out in the job area for you!
honeydew / 7504 posts
@coacheswife123: I have been exclusively using Coobie bras since about 10 weeks. The underwire in my other bras hurt and pinched too much. I find the Coobies to be plenty of support, but then again I started at a 34B (I have no idea what size I am now).
@Rescuemom10: That sounds TERRIBLE. I'm so sorry that you're sick. And then having to hear that news about work on top of it, yuck. I hope you feel better soon and that you get some better news about work, too.

Ladies - I am ridiculously emo right now! I have a kind of stressful thing going on at work which I think is the trigger, but it's nothing major. I've just been feeling extreme anxiety since yesterday afternoon (for me - supert tense shoulders and feeling like I'm antsy/going to cry all the time). I'm being mean to my dog - yelling (although she is not helping the situation) and my husband is out of town.
I do have a lot of papers piled up to grade and I'm not fully on top of my classes which is contributing to it, but that's kind of normal too.
Has anyone else had this happen yet? I just feel out of control of my emotions - I don't want to be a crazy person!
GOLD / grapefruit / 4007 posts
@Mrs Green Grass: Had my first emotional flip out this morning i was sooo upset over something sooo small and cried so hard I had to completely re do my make up and was 30 minutes late for work. I felt ridiculous the whole time but was so upset I couldn't snap out of it!

@Rescuemom10: yuck for being sick! i came down with allergies and a cough over the weekend and it stinks. can't imagine much more, so i'm sorry you're feeling so bad.
my sleep sucks and i'm just getting used to it. with DH gone, i take over the whole bed and put pillows all around me and hope to wake up only 4 times a night.
@allison: we registered with BBB and amazon and i think it will work out well! i will check out baby list, but my invites are already being made up, so i think it's too late for it! we are getting the maxi cosi mico because DH has a mini cooper and that's the only one that we found that fits and we can actually get in and out with the baby in it! we could have gone straight to a convertible, but i'll be the one with the baby most of the time and i want that infant car seat to carry her in if she's asleep!
pear / 1895 posts
@birdofafeather: That's the car seat we're looking at, too! We haven't tried any out yet (can you do that at Baby's R Us or somewhere?) to see what fits, but we have a Jeep Liberty and the backseat is pretty tight. I'm glad to know the Mico fits in compact spaces. We thought about just getting a Diono Radian and skipping the infant seat, but infant seats just seem safer for a newborn, to me. And we're hoping to have one or two more babies in the next several years, so we'll hopefully get good use out of it.
pineapple / 12053 posts
@allison: yeah, at BBB, they walked out with us so we could test out the seats in his car. i knew whatever fit in his would easily fit in mine (i have a scion xb). it's a smaller car seat than some of the others i've seen so we probably won't be able to use it as long, but it seems like more kids grow length-wise out of the infant seats more than weight-wise, so i'm not too worried. and it saves us buying a new car!

Just wanted to let you guys know that Old Navy has a bunch of their maternity line on sale right now. I got a v-neck sweater for $20, and some of their new Rockstar fit jeggings, and the fit is great! Definitely skinny, which I've had trouble finding in other maternity jeans. I would recommend getting the demi-panel, though, if you're interested, because I got the "smooth panel" and it doesn't come to the top of my belly, even now. Not sure what I'll do when I'm a lot bigger. But they have demi-panel ones in really fun colors like red, pink, and green! Here's a link: http://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/category.do?cid=5848

@Mrs Green Grass: nHope your feeliong a little better. I have been SUPER stressed out and just keep having bad news after bad news etc...
I hope things look up for you soon. Its hard especuially with all the extra hormones and what not.
Well last night for the first time DH could feel our little girl kick. It was CrAzY! I went from feeling flutters to full on kicks. It felt like she was practicing kung fu and it actualkly kept me up for a bit. If DH pressed firmly he could feel it. He was so excited to finally be able to feel her it made the perfect ending to a long day yesterday.
