@coacheswife123: I can keep a positive attitude for a really long time (which I'm learning more and more about myself). But if this baby comes soon, I will probably need intensive therapy! As long as we stay where we are at, I am basically happy.

@Mrs Green Grass: How are you doing today dear? I've been thinking about you.
Does anyone have any exciting weekend plans?
We're going to paint the nursery and get our place in order because my parents are coming to visit next weekend. I find that I can barely get to anything on my to-do list lately. I'm so behind!

I'm going to a giant second hand sale of baby cloths, toys and gear. I'm a little intimidated, but I have my list and my cash and my SIL for support.
Then DH and I are having our photos taken with the bump.

i hope to get our window treatments up in the nursery - that's the biggest baby item on our agenda for the weekend!

@kffw: congratulations and welcome!
No big plans here...I was just traveling for work (12 hours in the car on 2 trips wed through friday) so I need to veg, possibly work on cleaning out the nursery and probably catch up on some work.

I'm doing pretty well today. Tomorrow Dh and I are having a "fancy" dinner at the hospital (take out) and he's going to spend the night for the first time. Big plans!
He's going to clean out our office which will be our nursery, so that kinda counts as getting something baby related done.
We're 24 weeks today (acc. to hospital...I count on Thursdays). Now we just need to make it to 25!

DH is coming home tonight! yay! and then we're driving to palm springs while i shot a wedding (in 106 degree heat!) and he studies at the hotel.
on sunday, i'm just going to rest. because i think i'll need it.
i just got my shower invite that my family (SILs, MIL, sis, mom) are throwing me at the end of October. it's a classic book kind of theme and there were little drawings of the velveteen rabbit, where the wild things are, cat in the hat, etc.
when are you ladies having your shower(s)? timing is tough for all of us in january! i wanted to avoid december due to the holidays and my SILs are out of town in november, so end of october it is!

@Mrs Green Grass: Congrats on 24 weeks!
@birdofafeather: I actually had my first shower today. It was a surprise at my office. My other shower will be at the end of October. It was really tricky planning around the holidays.
pineapple / 12793 posts
@birdofafeather: I only have two coworkers so not a lot of gifts but I got a really pretty nursing cover, a Sophie giraffe, and a gift card for BRU. I was totally surprised and didn't think they'd do anything. It was really nice
pineapple / 12053 posts
@oliviaoblivia: that sounds great! i doubt i'll have a work shower since we have 2 other ladies who work here and 3 awkward guys + my boss, but i'm thinking that my boss might get something for the little lady since i've been here for 3.5 years!

@birdofafeather: I think we are going to try to schedule all of mine for the first week or two in November so they are all over before the holidays! I kind of like it because it will give us plenty of time to buy what we didn't get at showers !!
I am in love with the classic book theme - that is PRECIOUS!

One of my showers is the 2nd weekend in November, and my other is thanksgiving weekend.
The nursery is getting closer to being cleared out...I also wiped down the walls today. But I had to break the news to DH that we have to paint in there - it was the last room we painted when we moved in, and we didn't do the best job..sigh. At least we are making some progress!

@birdofafeather: Mine will be the Sunday after Thanksgiving. I wish we could have it the weekend before, but I guess that date worked for more people. I have a feeling that most of my friends will not be there, though, which makes me really sad.
Hubs and I put together the crib on Saturday, and last weekend I put together the Ikea bookshelf that we're laying on it's side to use as a bench/storage for toys. We still have to get the glider and then I have to start decorating. I think if we have a "theme" at all, it's movie/superhero - we're getting a Wookie the Chew print, and getting some cute "kiddie" prints of superheros (Superman, The Hulk, etc). But you'll really only see that on the gallery wall over the dresser. Otherwise, it's sort of neutral and theme-less.

DH cleaned out his portion of our office yesterday. Now I get to send my mom in to do my stuff. Luckily I did a big cleaning in there about 6 months ago so it shouldn't be too difficult for her. The hard thing is figuring out where to put office stuff in the guest room! (Well...that and not being able to do any of this myself.)
I'm planning on doing showers the first week of December since it's still not too crazy. We'll just leave the location TBD and hope that the baby has not come yet. But if he has...it'll just be after I guess.

@Mrs Green Grass: My shower was scheduled for 35 weeks and the baby was born at 34. The invitations were out and everything and my aunt quickly sent out a new invitation that said "Baby was early so the shower will be late!". We ended up having the shower on his original due date and he was there. I ended up adding a bunch of things to my registry that I found out I needed more of/different version/etc.

I had a Dr. appointment last Friday...everything is going good, but now I start going every two weeks. I cannot believe how fast these appointments are starting...almost 27 weeks!

He all! Sorry I have not been around fo rlike a week. Been rpetty stressed and trying to stay calm.
I thougth me possibly not having a job come December was bad...I jsut keep getting bad news. Im trying so har dto be posative and strong. Reminding myself to be thankful for our little girl being healthy and OK among anythign else I can remind myself to be thankful for.
The joys of having a Military husband...they cancelled his orders to stay here where we are living now and he is being sent to Afghanistan for one and a half years and leaves 24 days after my due date. Little scary. I know I can do it, but just came as a shock seeing as for the next 4 years we thought he had been slated for something up here and then they changed it....praying it changes again...just hate the idea of him seeing our little girl for 3 weeks and then coming back to a toddler.

@Rescuemom10: I'm sorry, that must be so tough! Do you have any good military mom support groups where you are?
pineapple / 12793 posts
@Rescuemom10: I'm so sorry! I'm majorly pissed at the military for you right now! Fingers crossed his orders change before January.

@Rescuemom10: I'm so sorry - that would throw me into a tailspin of anxiety ! Prayers for you and your hubby as you process this news. Keep us updated- we are here for you!
grapefruit / 4235 posts
@Rescuemom10: I'm so sorry to hear that. The military can definitely be a lot to handle. I'm sure it will be even more aggravating...but...the orders could change again (hopefully in a more positive direction.)
Do you live near a base with a Family Resource Center (I think that's what they're called?) My cousin's DH is Navy and she got lots of support from there, even though the orders changing constantly drove her crazy.
It sounds cheesy when I write it out, but THANK YOU to your husband for his service, and to you and the rest of your family for the sacrifices you make as a military family.

@Rescuemom10: i'm sorry about your husband. i hate when worry is stacked on top of worry. do you know when you'll know more about your job situation?
GOLD / grapefruit / 4007 posts
For the past few days I have just felt upset! A bunch of little stressors that would normally not stress me out or throw me into a tail spin have totally gotten to me and I just feel overwhelmed and like I could cry at the drop of the hat. On top of that, my poor husband is starting to feel like he can't do anything right because of my freak outs!
AND on top of that - I feel guilty because I know I am so blessed to be carrying our little boy and feel like me being so upset and focusing on the negative makes me seem so ungrateful.
Anyone else felt this way ??? I need a good day!
grapefruit / 4235 posts
@coacheswife123: YES. I feel the same way. I've mainly kept it under control, by kind of shutting down communication, though, so it's really put a strain on our relationship lately.
And I feel like I should be more greatful; i mean, we suffered through infertility through 23 months and our relationship was great. We get what we've wanted for SO LONG and now everything seems like such work.

@dagret: It is just the worst! I know it is hormones (for both of us!) but it doesn't make me feel any better!
I just took a 30 minute walk outside to "reset" and I do feel better. Planning on getting in bed early tonight and hope that will help!
apricot / 426 posts
@coacheswife123: Aw, sorry you're feeling upset. I've been like that too on occasion and usually more rest helps. I have taken off of work early, gone to bed early, had naps etc and it has usually helped. I think your idea of going for a walk is a good one. It'll pass and you will feel better.
GOLD / grapefruit / 4007 posts
@Jumpingjacks: Thank you! My mom was sweet and reassured me that it will pass, too. I am already feeling much better - but still looking forward to going to bed early tonight!

@coacheswife123: @dagret: Oh, I totally feel you! I had a HORRIBLE day on Monday. I spent all day being told how big I am and how I'm going have a huge baby and deliver early. By the time I left work, I was so upset. I fought back tears my entire train ride home, and as soon as I got into the car, I unleashed a 30+-minute sobbing jag. It was awful. Poor Hubs had no idea what to do.
We are going to the Outer Banks this weekend for my college roommate's wedding. We're driving down on Saturday, wedding is on Sunday, hanging out on Monday, and driving back on Tuesday. I originally planned to go back to work on Wednesday, but after Monday I decided I needed to give myself a break, so I"m taking Wednesday off, too. I can't wait to have some nice quiet time at home to just unplug and de-stress. Oh, and Hubs is getting me a prenatal massage at the spa at the resort we're staying at in OBX, so I'm sure that will help. (c:
These hormones are no joke, you guys! Yikes!

@eiko2010: bless your heart. I have been getting told how "big" I am too and its so upsetting because I have been feeling really good about how I'm carrying so far! People feel like they can say anything ! I've seen your pic on the Bump board and you are nothing but baby - you look great!
I hope you enjoy your time and just relax!
honeydew / 7504 posts
@coacheswife123: Aw, thanks, you're sweet.
The thing is, I know I am "big" for 26 weeks, but it's because I am small and short-waisted, and there is nowhere for this baby to go but OUT. And I haven't gained a lot of weight (17 pounds), but it's still way more than I've ever weighed and even though I rationally know it's "good" weight gain, it's still hard to see the number on the scale keep creeping up. It's just not something I'm used to. So after hearing it all day long on Monday, I just broke.
I'm planning to rock my super-cute maternity swimsuit at the beach this weekend and enjoy my prenatal massage!
GOLD / grapefruit / 4007 posts
@eiko2010: I am short waisted too and am having the same issue. Baby is just growing out! I've gained 16 so far (24 weeks) which my doctor was fine with. People just still feel the need to say I'm large and in charge.
I also was quite thin beforehand, and I'm sure you were too, so I think it just shows more and people just aren't used to seeing my stomach anything other than flat! But -that's no excuse for some comments people make!
Enjoy your massage- I need to book one soon, that sounds heavenly!

anyone have any ideas for halloween costumes? i've only seen the skeleton t-shirt and painted bellies (which i don't want to do). any characters (besides juno) that would work? i'm at a loss and i want to do something fun!
cherry / 175 posts
@birdofafeather: i did Juno with my last pregnancy...I pretty much look like I'm 15, so it worked and my husband dressed up like Paulie Bleecker. This year I'm doing pregnant Snooki I couldnt think of anything else....besides octomom!
grapefruit / 4923 posts
@birdofafeather: my friend went as the 8 ball one year and her partner dressed as a cue stick. i thought that was pretty cute!
i've also seen a t-shirt with little hands sticking out and holding a pumpkin bucket for trick or treating, for something a little more gory!
@eiko2010: tell us how the prenatal massage is, and have a wonderful time! hope the weekend is a good antidote to the crappy monday you had.
grapefruit / 4235 posts
hey @Mrs Green Grass: hope you're doing well!
@kayakgirl I saw on Mrs GG's bedrest post that it looks like you're having some issues too? How are things with you?
@birdofafeather: No ideas here...i hate halloween though. I did see that someone dismembered a cheap baby doll and glued the arms and legs to the torso of a tank top and added fake blood to the shirt so it looked like you had a zombie baby popping out of you....uh, not really my bag.
@eiko2010: enjoy your trip!
honeydew / 7504 posts
@shoemama: Ha ha! Pregnant Snooki is great! I was thinking pregnant Britney - you know, where she showed up at whatever awards show wearing a tank top that said "I've got the golden ticket." Maybe carry some cheetos.
@birdofafeather: Other than the Britney idea, I'm at a loss. I've seen what others have, with the doll parts glued onto a t-shirt, but that grosses me out. And the only other thing I've seen is where you paint your belly like a basketball or pumpkin or whatever. But I'm not at all interested in baring my belly - painted or not!
pear / 1965 posts
@Mrs Green Grass: I do, I am pretty lucky I have a good support group of friends up here which is nice seeing as my family lives far away.
@oliviaoblivia: & @coacheswife123: Thanks ladies...still no new news...still just processing it all and being posative about it. Dont even feel like I can be down about it because DH is taking it hard. its not a normal situation how this all went down and happened, so it makes it even worse because its kind of messed up and DH feels horrible and is having a really ahrd time with the idea of seeing our LO for three weeks and then coming back tp ehr walking and talking. Plus where is he suppose to be is not the safest or nicest place, and emails and phone calls will not be often so it will make it a little more dificult.
@dagret: Yes there is a F&FSC here. I know a lot of the gals who work there (use to work with them). Fortuantly I more than understand everything going on because I was prior Active Duty before (thats how we met) but like I said before...its just how it went down thats making it a real kick in the pants (someone else messed up, paper work error now at our expense).
His orders will not change again because he has a "hard" copy (that cost lots of $, and is fairly official) however, with us wanting to pull out of Afghanistan, plus with budget cuts, and who knows pending the elections anf furthur changes if money gets cut for the job he is suppose to do out there then they may shorten it or not need him which would be GREAT!!! : )
Thank you for your appreciation, that was very sweet of you to say!
@birdofafeather: The latest I have heard is we MAY know something about my job by October 15h. So patiently waiting, ugh!
