@coacheswife123: Hope you get to feeling better. I understand hormones and stress and those two combinations have been whoopin my butt too. Dang hormones!
Hang in there!
No idea on Halloween, may do the skeleton shirt....its something I could wear to work at least I guess.
One of our friends told DH and I that we should go as a pregnant nun and Priest. Umm I could NEVER do that!

@Rescuemom10: the paperwork thing sounds a WHOLE LOT like what happened with my cousin's husband. Sigh. His overseas orders got all screwed up and when he finally got back they moved where he was stationed stateside on top of it. I'll keep you guys in my thoughts and prayers.

Re: Halloween -- The only other idea I've seen is dressing up like an oven (with a big box around you or something) and a picture on the front so it looks like there's a "bun in the oven". Then your SO goes as a baker.
I don't know. Not really my cup of tea. But it is something!

Thanks girls...I'm not super excited to be the first thread graduate, but now I'm going to have a lot of knowledge/advice when you ladies get closer!
So far I'm feeling relief from having everything I do, including the position I'm in, affect the baby. And I'm relieved that he's gotten the best start I could ask for.
Now I'm probably going to start to get anxious about all the different things that can happen, but we'll continue to take it one day at a time...

@dagret: I'm doing better. I was pulled off bed rest on Friday. Cervix is now measuring normal, although they don't know if it was helped by red rest or was measured wrong in the first place. So I'm supposed to take it easy but I can go out. I'm supposed to be off my feet when I can. I can work from home and go back on Wednesday or Thursday if the bathroom renovations on my floor are done. They don't want me running up and down stairs. I also had my glucose test done Friday so I'm hopeful for good results there. Hopefully all is well and this was a fluke, but I could be one of the folks who are on and off bed rest. They also noticed a small amount of swelling in my legs so hopefully I don't have problems with that.

@Mrs Green Grass: we wish you could have made it further as well, but it seems like you're getting the best possible care and Dylan is too! rest up and know that we're all thinking of you!

@Mrs Green Grass: congratulations on your little boy! i know this isn't the situation that one normally envisions, but it sounds like you and the baby are getting good care and we are sending positive vibes and good thoughts your way.
@kayakgirl73: i'm glad you are off of bed rest and hope that you continue to feel stronger and better. take care of you.
i'm having my glucose test tomorrow. i'm not looking forward to the wait and not eating during that time.

@Mrs Green Grass: congratulations, and hope that he's getting stronger every day!
@kayakgirl73: i'm glad you're off bed rest and your cervix is measuring normal. I hope the swelling stays away!
@edelweiss: good luck with the glucose test...not sure of when they'll have me take mine.

@Mrs Green Grass: So glad that you and LO are doing well. Know its not ideal but so glad to hear he is so strong and doing so well. Keep us updated, we are all cheering you and the little man on!!!

@kayakgirl73: So glad you are off bed rest. Fingers crossed that you're in the clear for the remainder of the pregnancy.
@Mrs Green Grass: I'm glad you are feeling better. I hope your delivery recovery is easy so you can focus on that little boy. Hope he stays strong.
@edelweiss: Good luck at your test tomorrow. Mine hasn't been scheduled yet, but I'm still dreading it!
@Rescuemom10: Any more news on your DH's deployment? I've been thinking about you and hoping for the best.
pineapple / 12053 posts
@edelweiss: I did mine this morning. Eating a breakfast sandwich as I type because I was super hungry! It wasn't that bad, but the hour wait did drag by. I assume I'll get the results next week at my 27week appt.

I have my 1 hour glucose test tomorrow. They told me not to fast and just eat as I normally would. Is that what your docs have said too? Also, do you do a urine test each visit? I've only done one the very first visit. My doc said they don't do one unless I have a complaint that warrants it.
@mrsgreengrass: I've been thinking about you and baby GG constantly! Stay strong baby boy! Keep us updated as you can!

@oliviaoblivia: We just got more info about how logn trainign is and where, and some good news is that I did find out he was going to be on an actrual base. At first we thought he was going to be out on a combat outpost or something sim. We found out he will be on a base, which puts my mind morie at ease. Other than that...looks like Feb 24th he will be leaving. He has 6 mos of training in the states. The first 2.5 months he will be about 5 hrs south of where we live and I CAN visit him. The remainder of his training after that is farther away and I cant visit him for it anyway.
Lots of mixed feelings. But trying so hard to stay posative for him as he is really struggling with guilt in leaving me with a new baby and how much he is going to miss. If it were a nomral 6 mo deployment it would be one thing...but 1.5 yrs seems soooo long.

@Kffw: My office takes a urine sample at every visit!
I have my glucose test on the 23rd. They gave me my drink and told me to drink it 30 minutes prior to coming to the doctor's office. I can eat before but it has to be 2 hours before I drink the drink and only something very low carb. I'll probably have scrambled eggs since that is what they suggested.!

Thanks everyone for the good thoughts. I hope things continue to go well and no more bed rest, but I'll do what I have to.
RescueMom -- glad to hear the news is a bit better. Still an awful mess up, but hopefully this means you can talk on the phone, email and perhaps skype.

@coacheswife123: it is so strange what different practices do. My doc (and I'm sure the entire group) seems to favor less medic intervention unless medically necessary, which I guess is good. It is one of the top rated OB groups in my city, so I guess I'll go with it! She also said no more ultrasounds unless I start having problems.

@Kffw: I know! I say as long as it is working for you then go with it!!!
grapefruit / 4923 posts
@Kffw: i have my test tomorrow also! the testing place told me to fast, although my doctor said i could eat something. maybe i will follow what @coacheswife123 said and just have some eggs a few hours before the test.
@Rescuemom10: i'm sorry that his orders changed, although glad that at least he will be on a base. i admire you for maintaining a good attitude and perspective through this, though obviously it is hard.
pineapple / 12053 posts
@Kffw: my office takes a sample each time. i took my glucose test today and was supposed to fast for at least 2 hours beforehand. i ended up with an appt first thing in the morning, so i fasted all night. it was not too fun, but not horrible. i've heard mixed things on the screening/testing because there isn't a set time/way they test and there still isn't an agreed upon "best practices."
@Rescuemom10: i'm glad that he'll be around for a couple of months at least to see your LO and see you. i can't imagine it and you are so strong! i admire you and your attitude about it all!
cherry / 175 posts
@Kffw: No you should fast for sure! My doctor does the glucose at the first appointment and at 26 weeks. I failed the first time because I ate and had to go in for the three hour and passed! I fasted for my last one and passed by a lot!
GOLD / grapefruit / 4007 posts
@shoemama: hrm - i was going to eat eggs before because it was on the "things you can eat" list. Maybe I should just move my appointment up and fast??
pear / 1599 posts
@Mrs Green Grass: Congrats!! Keeping you and your family in my thoughts and prayers for all the best..
I did the glucose test at my 1st appointment and had to fast 1 hour before. I think I get to do it again tomorrow, yah
So the pregnancy emotions have hit me, anyone else? I was upset last night that I couldnt find the right pink curtains for the nursery, but was able to hold off the tears. And then today I cried all morning cause my parents bought the crib we wanted. Horrible right? I just was so upset feeling so selfish for it, but it is their gift to us. DH heard me and woke up to come see if I was ok. Crazy lady right here!!

@pinkb: i tear up at EVERYTHING. it's embarrassing. i'm trying to keep it in check, but just thinking about things (little one coming, my friends that just had their baby and how excited i am for them, songs with mention of children, etc) gets me teary eyed.

Sorry I've been MIA for a bit. We had our trip to OBX for the long weekend and it was FABULOUS. We walked on the beach, went to my friend's wedding, and Hubs got me that prenatal massage. It was so what I needed right now! Looks like I missed a few important updates, though!
@Mrs Green Grass: Congrats on LO's arrival. Hope he's doing well and continuing to get stronger.
@kayakgirl73: Yay for coming off bedrest!
@coacheswife123: My doctor said it is a fasting test but that I can eat something small, high-protein, low-carb/sugar "like an egg." So that is what I'll do. I'll be taking mine at work, since I can just run downstairs to the lab at the hospital. But that means I won't be going for the test until 8:30 or so, and I get up at 6. So I'll be freaking starving!
GOLD / grapefruit / 4007 posts
@eiko2010: I know, my appointment is at 9:00 and i get up at 6:30. I'm going to have to make myself an egg just to hold me over (hopefully!).
So glad you enjoyed your time away. You needed it!

So I just got back from my 28 week appointment and we scheduled my c section for December 31st...so technically I am out of January, but you never know what happen...I'll just stick to this thread! I can't believe she's going to be a New Year's Eve baby! The count down begins now 82 days!
pineapple / 12053 posts
@shoemama: i can't recall if i knew that you needed a scheduled c-section. curious as to why if you don't mind.
eta: but so crazy that you have an actual countdown! i just hit under 100 days until my EDD!
honeydew / 7504 posts
@shoemama: I don't remember knowing you needed a scheduled c-section, either!
@birdofafeather: Holy crap! I hadn't done a days countdown - I have 90! EEK!!!
Just got my flu shot this morning. It's mandated at my work, but I would have gotten it anyway. We get way too many flu cases in our hospital for me to risk it. Are you guys getting flu shots? What about any other vaccines/boosters? I need to check my Tdap and make sure it's up-to-date. I'm making Hubs go get a flu shot and a Tdap. Also considering asking our parents.
I am getting these intense pains in my upper back/shoulder blades. It is terrible pain - yesterday I almost had to pull over the car! Every now and then I get tingles/numbness in the same area. The pain is usually on the right, the numbness is usually on the left. Hubs does his best to massage out the pain, and the prenatal massage helped, but only for a little bit. Anyone else?
cherry / 175 posts
@birdofafeather: This will be my second c section. With my son I had 24 hours of labor, almost 4 hours of pushing and then a c section when he wouldnt come out, so it just made sense to go back to a c section for me instead of trying a vbac.
cherry / 175 posts
@eiko2010: I got my flu shot last week and we also made sure all of our family is up to date of vaccines and flu shots! These are going to be winter babies, so we have to be extra careful! I have the same pain in my shoulder blade. it started right after pre natal yoga and hasnt stopped!
honeydew / 7504 posts
@shoemama: Gotcha. I keep forgetting this is your 2nd!
I really want to ask our families to get their shots and stuff, but I know Hubs will resist me on it. I am thinking about telling him that I talked to the pediatrician that we've chosen, and they strongly recommend it. Kind of like "doctor's orders."
pineapple / 12053 posts
@shoemama: gotcha! i don't blame you! what a long first labor!
@eiko2010: i don't think i'm going to get my flu shot, but i'm going to talk to my doc about it. can you get the tdap shot while pregnant? i need to look into that because i really want my family and in-laws to get it before LO arrives. i know DH is up on his, but i need to look into my shots. i don't keep very good records unfortunately.
ETA: just called my PCP's office and i got the TDAP in 2011, so I'm all set! thanks for making me check into it!
clementine / 750 posts
I'm asking about getting my Flu shot at my Appointment tomorrow. I've had the Tdap about three years ago. I need to find out if I need it updated or not. My husband already has his FLu shot and got has TDAP when we were TTC. I need to check on our parents. What really scares me is RSV, friends had there baby get really sick with it last year when she was like a week or two old. Scary.
grapefruit / 4235 posts
@eiko2010: I got my flu shot a few weeks ago. I got a tetanus shot at the ER about 5 years ago, I need to call my DR. and see if they have that info on record; i don't know whether it was just tetanus or TDAP. My husband got his flu shot and TDAP about a month ago.
