@shoemama: i was born 6 weeks early!!
We haven't packed one yet - but I think we definitely will pack one when we are at least a month out - if not before! I hate packing for trips, etc, so this is going to be a real treat
haha!

We had an ultra sound today and the bean is diagonal with her butt right where the pain has been so I think that is the issue, it has subsided for now. But I will check with the doc just to be sure.
I have not packed a hospital bag yet either. I did make our appointment for the tour. I probably wont pack on until a few weeks before.

@shoemama: I haven't even THOUGHT about my hospital bag yet! I think we will wait to pack ours until after the shower (Thanksgiving weekend).

@pinkb: i'm so glad you have an explanation for the pain!!!
We had our first shower this weekend and it was really great - got lots of stuff we wanted and needed. Now, to work on thank you notes! I dread them!

I'm so glad that I'm not the only one who doesn't have a nursery all set up yet and there's definitely no hospital bag!! I feel like I can do that quickly, though, since I can remember what was needed from last time.

@Andrea: I haven't even started cleaning out the room that is going to be the nursery! And my baby is already born. But he'll be using the nursery on about the same timeline as everyone else.
My plan was always to try and get most of it done during Thanksgiving week and around Christmas since I (was) teaching...
I have a very tentative plan so far, but that's it. I haven't even put furniture on my registry yet (shower is Dec 2).

@Mrs Green Grass: How's your little man doing? And how are YOU doing??
grapefruit / 4923 posts
we don't have a hospital bag packed yet. and we haven't done anything in the nursery, beyond taking the gifts that people have given us and putting them in the closet to be organized later!
we're leaving for a vacation on thursday--our babymoon, i guess. i'm excited, i need a break from work!

@Mrs Green Grass: so nice to hear from you! Exactly, how are you and DS doing???

no nursery set up (crib needs to be painted, the mattress is on the ground where it will go... piled with clean laundry) and no hospital bag packed either. i feel like maybe in december it will hit me and then i'll get on it. i've just been so busy that i don't have a moment to sit and get it set up.
after my first shower though, i sorted the clothes and my mom took the newborn and 0-3 months to her house to wash. she's coming down in two weeks and we're going to an etsy-type market and we're going to buy lots of stuff! i need to set a budget for myself with needs and wants so i don't go overboard.

So EDD is officially two months away. And I'm freaking out. I feel like instead of crossing things off of my to-do list, I just add things to it. My crib is on back-order and was suppose to arrive to my parents house last week but didn't and we have no idea if it ever will. Ugh. The nursery is still a total disaster with piles of our crap and new baby stuff everywhere.
My grandfather passed away last Saturday and has totally thrown me into an emotional tailspin. I've been pretty hormonally neutral this pregnancy, but I'm having a hard time keeping it together.
On a brighter note, despite cancelling my shower due to the funeral, my family all got together to throw a little something while we were together. I think it helped distract and cheer-up my grandma a bit - they would have been married 67 years in January.
I'm really hoping to have a productive weekend.

@coacheswife123: Ugh, thank you notes are the WORST! I mean, obviously, it's lovely to send them, but they're such a pain to write!
@edelweiss: Ooh, babymoon! Where are you going?
@oliviaoblivia: Aw, I'm glad your family was able to pull something together for you - I'm sure your grandmother loved it.
Our nursery is about 1/2 done. We have a crib, dresser, and bench/storage, but no crib mattress or linens or anything. We ordered our glider, but it'll take 10-12 weeks, and that would put us RIGHT at our due date if it actually takes 12 weeks - yikes! We have a few gifts/stuff we've purchased, but they're just sitting in bags on the dresser - haven't even washed them yet. I hung up the paper lantern mobile and hung a few prints on the wall during the hurricane, but for the most part we're still undecorated. Hopefully after the shower we'll be able to put more together!

@oliviaoblivia: I'm so sorry for your loss.
DH put the crib and dresser together last week when I was out of town, and painted the room yesterday, so that's a step in the right direction...but there's still crap everywhere in there at this point.
I have no idea on a "theme" or anything...I feel like bedding sets are a waste when you're not supposed to use anything but crib sheets in the crib anyway so why bother. Sigh. Decorating is not my forte.
My 1st shower is Saturday. And we had childbirth class this past weekend. So that's out of the way...Right now I'm trying to pull together all the paperwork we'll need when he's born (insurance forms, etc.) and figure out a pediatrician. We have a lead on a promising in-home provider, too, so I'm hoping that works out.

@oliviaoblivia: i'm so sorry - somehow I missed your previous post. Prayers to you and your family.

I'm doing ok. Dylan's a month old now! But he's still on the ventilator and they're not able to reduce the settings to start weaning him off (basically his lungs are not doing that well) so we had to start steroids today. They're great for lungs, but carry some other risks. He also had heart surgery this week to clamp a valve that is supposed to close at birth.
I haven't been around the thread much because I'm in a different place than all of you ladies, but I'll check in every now and then. And feel free to ask me any hospital questions you have...

My MIL told me she wants to have our shower after Christmas instead of over Thanksgiving. I'm due Jan 11th. This seems like a bad idea. At that point will have to be all prepared, and we don't really need people just buying us a bunch of outfits. But I feel like I can't really say anything because its a party someone is offering to have for us, you know?

@shoemama: @coacheswife123: @dagret: @littlebug: Thanks for your thoughts ladies. I'm fortunate that I made it to Virginia in time to say goodbye, he died just a few hours after I arrived. He got to see the baby via 3D/4D ultrasound and he knew her name.
I agree that the bedding sets are a waste. I just have a few colorful crib sheets and a couple mattress pads. It's not as fun without all the extras but I'll take safe over fun any day.
@Mrs Green Grass: I'm glad you are doing ok and can't believe Dylan is a month old already. I hope his surgery recovery goes smoothly and that his lungs get stronger. I understand you not hanging around these parts any more, but know that I think about you and Dylan all the time and send happy healthy baby thoughts from Canada.
honeydew / 7504 posts
@dagret: Yeah, we are not doing a bedding set. It seemed like a waste of money to us, too. Plus, I wouldn't have even used the crib sheets in a set because we registered for QuickZip sheets (top zips off - easy for middle-of-the-night changes!). So my mom is making a blanket for baby. We're just going with a color scheme rather than a "theme."

I had my GT test yesterday. It wasn't bad at all. I was expecting the drink to be like 24 oz or something. It was a tiny 8 oz and lemon-lime flavored. Was it the same for everyone else, or do these tests vary from place to place?
I went to Coldstone Creamery for a "last hurrah" in case the test comes back positive. Ha.
honeydew / 7504 posts
@allison: Mine tasted like flat orange soda. It wasn't nearly as bad as I expected.
GOLD / grapefruit / 4007 posts
@allison: mine was fruit punch flavored - and wasn't as bad as I expected!
@oliviaoblivia: we aren't doing a bedding set either, and like @littlebug: we are going for more of a color scheme than an actual theme!!!
honeydew / 7504 posts
@shoemama: @coacheswife123: I can't wait to see pictures of everyone's nurseries! Ours is orange, blue, and lime green!
grapefruit / 4235 posts
@allison: Hope your test turns out well! I too, had some celebratory carbs in case it was positive for GD!
Is anyone else's LO going crazy lately? I'm 28.5 weeks and he has been kicking NONSTOP over the past few days.
honeydew / 7504 posts
@dagret: Oh my gosh, YES! This past week (I'm 30.5) he's been going nuts! I swear it feels like he's doing somersaults in there. It's so crazy! I love it, though - last night I got all teary-eyed thinking about the fact that I can feel him so much from the outside, and I can't wait to actually hold his little hands and kiss his little feet in just 10 weeks!
pear / 1599 posts
@littlebug: @shoemama: @coacheswife123: @oliviaoblivia: yep not doing a bedding set either. My mom is making a quilt and I got to pick all the fabric and we are decorating with a color scheme rather than a theme, pink ivory and dark brown furniture. I hope you ladies will share some picks of the nurseries once we all start getting them together!
@Mrs Green Grass: Glad to hear you both are still doing ok. I hope this week is better for you both.
@allison: I had the orange flavored drink like @littlebug: all 3 times I had to take the test. It made the back of my throat tingle. And the since the last time I had it, now It makes me nauseous to think about it. So glad thats over with.

Our nursery was humming along until we got held up waiting for our bedding to come in! I ordered several options from RH Baby and they have been on back order. Since I don't know exactly what they will look like (color tone wise) we have just been waiting. We added board and batten to the room, have the crib assembled, and the glider is being delivered today! We have two dressers we got ok Craigslist that we are in the process of painting. We may still paint the wall a blue color above the board and batten after we see all the other furniture in the room. Here is a pic of how it looks right now. I still need to decide on curtains, accessories, and a rug. Cannot wait for the glider to get here!

@oliviaoblivia: i'm sorry to hear about your loss. i'm glad your family was still able to do something. i hope the crib gets there soon!
@Mrs Green Grass: i hope the surgery helps his heart and that the steroids work. thanks for checking in, your family is in our thoughts.
@littlebug: we are going to st. john in the us virgin islands. i've never been, looking forward to it! i'll be glad to take a break from work. i've been covering for someone who was on maternity leave for the past few months and i need a rest.
anyone else taking or took a babymoon?
honeydew / 7504 posts
@Kffw: Looks great so far! Anxious to see the finished product!
@edelweiss: Oh, St. John is HEAVEN. You will love it. Have a fantastic time!
We took a one-night babymoon to NYC, and then we also spent a few nights in the Outer Banks for a friend's wedding.

Thank you @littlebug!
@edelweiss- no babymoon here. We discussed it but I started a new job in July so I'm having to use all my vacation time for maternity leave! So jealous of your trip!
grapefruit / 4923 posts
@Kffw: the board and batten (i didn't know it was called that) looks great! and sounds like you have a lot planned, can't wait to see everything when it's done!

@edelweiss: St. John will be awesome! I'll go in your place if you change your mind
We went to OBX for a week a while back and have had some day trips, but I'm ready for another baby moon.

The glider is in the nursery! It is super comfy, glides and reclines! I'm very happy with it. It is the Little Castle Buckingham style.

@oliviaoblivia: I want another babymoon, too, ha ha! I think we'll have to settle for a "staycation" over the holidays before baby arrives.

@dagret: oh yeah! He moves constantly!
@Kffw: your crib is beautiful - LOVE it! and I like the current wall color- too! Love the glider it looks comfy!
@edelweiss: we aren't taking an official baby moon but I do hope to spend a lot of quiet time and home during the holidays!

@littlebug: @coacheswife123: saw your bump pictures on the other thread--january 13 mamas lookin good! your bumps are so cute and you guys look terrific. i haven't gotten my act together to post a photo on that thread yet, but you guys are inspiring me.

@edelweiss: post post post! I love seeing everyone's bumps!! And... I looked back and realized that dress I was wearing in my last one was super unflattering in the boob area from the side- haha!

@coacheswife- thank you!!! The crib is Franklin and Ben. I got a great deal on it!
Well I'm officially sick for the first time. I'm hoping it is just a head cold or sinuses. I have my 30 week appt today so I'm going to ask what I can take. Of course it would hit me when I have a ton to do! My first shower is this weekend in my hometown! Hoping I will feel better by then!
