@edelweiss: post a bump photo!!
we have a hotel booked for palm springs right after christmas for a babymoon since that's the only time DH has off from school. that's when things might get real because we'll have the car packed with a hospital bag and the car seat just in case as i'll be 37w! crazy.
GOLD / grapefruit / 4007 posts
@birdofafeather: SO fun! and yes time is flying. We bought our carseat yesterday and it made me so excited!
Is sitting up (like from laying on the couch/bed) getting to be a problem for anyone? Or, bending over in general? Or, putting on shoes????
honeydew / 7504 posts
@edelweiss: Post a photo!!!!!
@birdofafeather: Ooooh, I love Palm Springs!
@coacheswife123: Yes, sitting up is very difficult. And I haven't tied shoes in a couple months - I went out and bought slip-on sneakers for my commute to/from work, and then change into my flats when I get to the office. I always thought that they totally exaggerated how hard it is to get up in movies and on tv, but it's totally true! Sometimes, I sit there for a second to mentally prepare myself!
@Kffw: Oh I hope you feel better soon. I am starting to feel like I might be fighting something off, too. I hope my body wins and not the germs!
grapefruit / 4235 posts
@birdofafeather: palm springs is awesome. You HAVE to go to Cheeky's for brunch. They cure their own bacon. THEIR OWN BACON.
@coacheswife123: It's starting to get difficult, esp. in the middle of the night (or anytime i have what I think is a full bladder!) No shoe problems *yet.*
pineapple / 12053 posts
@coacheswife123: getting up from bed stinks. by the end of the day, my belly feels so heavy. i keep considering getting a belly girdle (whatever they are really called) but then in the morning, i feel better. i have to physically lift my belly when i am getting out of bed, especially in the middle of the night!
i can't bend over that well, but i can still get shoes on. haven't tried a true tie-on for a while. can't see my lady parts at all, so i'm glad i'm still getting waxed! i have no idea how some people say they can shave down there after this point! i would be terrified!

Glad to hear everyone is doing well. I havent been around in awhile. Been so blah and just dealing with everything that is going on. Not looking forward to DH leaving, seems like it sjust around the corner as my due date gets closer. Finally know a little more about my job. I can now officially apply with the new company that is taking over the contract with the Military. Talk about cutting it close. I am officially done with my company on the 1st of Dec and still dont know whats going on. Ugh!
We finally painted the Nursery, crib is up. Someone gave us there Rocker/Glider. Thats about it though. Have not even thought about a hospital bag. I think I am the last in this group (latest due date) so its still seems far away even though other times it feels sooooo soon.

@Rescuemom10: good to hear from you! still so sorry about your DH leaving BUT good news about your job!

@coacheswife123: I cannot bend over and getting out of bed is painful!!! i feel huge!!!

@shoemama: @birdofafeather: I am going to be amazed to see how my body continues to accommodate this growing little boy! My bump is SO TIGHT and big and just full of little arms and legs; I feel like he doesn't have anywhere to go anymore!

@coacheswife123: I totally agree! I cant imagine getting any bigger and I have 8 more weeks
clementine / 750 posts
Bending over is getting really hard for me. it hurts. I have to sit to put on shoes. I'm also having terrible reflux, sciatica, and round ligament pain.
I had a great shower last weekend. My nursery furniture won't be in until mid-December. I haven't even cleaned out the room. I'm so behind. We're also still trying to figure out daycare and pediatricians. At least we did our childbirth classes.
GOLD / grapefruit / 4007 posts
@kayakgirl73: don't stress girl! you've still got time!
I had a marathon nursery day where my parents came over and we worked on it - maybe you can get a day like that on the calendar soon!
pear / 1895 posts
@kayakgirl73: I've been having pain, too (though I think mine is pelvic girdle pain) and got my doctor to refer me to a chiropractor. I've heard chiro adjustments can help so much with pregnancy pain, and it's also great to get a couple of adjustments right after you have the baby to realign everything while the relaxin is still present in your joints. Just a suggestion for your sciatica.
@coacheswife123: I've been having problems putting on my socks and shoes for about a month now! And I basically have to roll out of bed -- there's no way I can go from a lying down position to sitting on my own. Husband has started automatically helping every time by pushing me up from my back. It's ridiculous.
I, too, have no idea how I'm supposed to keep growing for 10 more weeks. I'm going to be ginormous.
Oh! I just got the call from the doctor's office that my GT test came back normal! So glad I don't have to give up my occasional dessert treats. I'm planning on baking lots of treats over the holidays to distract myself from the fact that I can't drink spiked apple cider and hot toddys (warm boozy drinks are my fav). The nurse said my iron was a bit low, but they weren't worried about it? She said to start taking my prenatal with orange juice to maximize absorbency, but that I didn't need to take an additional iron supplement. So I guess I won't worry about it?
GOLD / grapefruit / 4007 posts
@allison: oh so glad you passed! if they aren't worried about the iron i wouldn't be either!
I had a dr appt today too. the main focus was to check my placenta to make sure it had moved up (it had) and to check to see if the length of my cervix was normal - I had a leep procedure years ago - (it was). we got an ultrasound and baby boy weighs 3lbs 11 oz and is in the 94th percentile. His femurs are in the 98th percentile - I'm 29 weeks. Where is this baby going to go for 2.5 more months???
I also got my Rogam shot and the whooping cough vaccination today. the rogam shot HURT - and I'm not one who usually minds shots.
honeydew / 7504 posts
@birdofafeather: I got a support belt a few weeks ago. I needed it because by the end of the day, when I have to walk 8 blocks from work to the train station, my belly feels like it's oging to hit the ground. It does help, as long as I put it on JUST RIGHT. And I have to take it off before I get on the train, because sitting with it on is very uncomfortable. Also, I still "attempt" to shave the lady bits, but I'm sure it's a mess.
@coacheswife123: @shoemama: Uh, yeah...I have NO idea how I'm going to get bigger, or better yet, how HE'S going to get bigger. I already feel like I'm stretched the max! Also, @coacheswife123: Thrilled to hear your placenta is up high and the cervix is holding strong! I'd love to know how big our little guy is!!!
@allison: Yay for passing your test! I agree, if your doctor isn't worried about the iron, then I wouldn't be, either. I have considered a chiropractor, too, because my back and hips are constantly in pain anymore.
GOLD / grapefruit / 4007 posts
@littlebug: haha grooming has started to become a challenge. and if i'm being honest, its really not that easy to bend and shave my legs at this point either. I probably shave the bottom of my legs at least twice before I attempt to include my thigh and do the whole leg?? I have blonde, thin hair though so that helps!
When is your next ultrasound? they didn't tell me today during the ultrasound but when it was over I asked!
honeydew / 7504 posts
@coacheswife123: I don't know if I have anymore, unless they do another one closer to the due date. I have an appointment next Tuesday, I'll have to try to remember to ask.
I can still shave my legs no problem because we have a claw-foot tub, so I can prop my leg up on the side.
Funny things: This weekend we were at a wedding, so of course we did some slow dancing. Guys, slow dancing is HARD when you're pregnant! I ended up basically turned sideways to Hubs and dancing backwards! Ha ha. Also, I noticed earlier this week that I feel very unsteady/nervous going down stairs, but I couldn't figure out why. I finally realized that it's because I can't see where my feet are - my belly is in the way!
GOLD / grapefruit / 4007 posts
@littlebug: haha! we haven't tried dancing - that would be so funny!
yes - ask!! Maybe they will schedule you one! The only reason I've gotten so many is because of my cervix!
pear / 1895 posts
@coacheswife123: I'm getting one more at 32 weeks, to check my placenta. I didn't really want to do another, but since I am, I'm excited to see the baby one more time before he/she is here!
Question: when do cervical checks normally start?
GOLD / grapefruit / 4007 posts
@allison: One of my best friends just had her baby. I think they started checking her at 35 or 36 weeks.
grapefruit / 4235 posts
@coacheswife123: I'm glad your placenta was OK! And i haed a LEEP 10 years ago and they haven't checked my cervix ONCE. I specifically asked about the TDAP vaccine timing today and my practice prefers to give it after I give birth - in postpartum recovery.
I had a dr. appointment today and they scheduled my appointments for the rest of my pregancy - so crazy!
GOLD / grapefruit / 4007 posts
@dagret: i haven't had any problems with mine - and my doctor wasn't ever really concerned about it! So glad you haven't had any problems either!
isn't time flying!!?? crazy.
clementine / 750 posts
@coacheswife123: Thank you. I think we will need a marathon weekend. Grandma to the rescue.
@allison: I'll keep Chiropractic in mind.
I can still see my feet barely. I have to shave in the tub. I need to get the lady area waxed as I think it would be easier for post-postpartum care. My hospital Week by week updates say don't wax or shave that area. I think infection shouldn't be an issue as long as I have it done several weeks ahead. I go to a clean place and have never had a problem.
pineapple / 12053 posts
@kayakgirl73: @allison: chiros rock! i just started seeing a new one who specializing in prenatal and pediatric care and i'm super excited. she said she's adjusted someone whose labor stalled and the woman gave birth less than 3 hours later! i'm totally on board with that kind of help!
i've also been going to my waxing lady regularly and just scheduled another appt for 36 weeks. i'll probably make another appt for 40 weeks just in case and we'll see if i make it to then!

EDD: January 5th
How far along?: 32 weeks 2 days
Baby name: We've picked it and will announce it when she gets here.
Recent Milestone: Less than two months to go!!
Weight gain: +6 (I started out chubbier than I'm suppose to be)
Nursery status: Painted, emptied of non-baby stuff, and decorations are coming soon.
Most annoying symptom?: Heartburn continues. Rapunzel had better have flowing locks with all this heartburn.
What are you looking forward to most?: Seeing our little girl in my husband's arms.
Next Appointment?: Next Wednesday for a growth scan. Doc says I'm measuring right on, but DH and I were huge babies so we get to check to make sure there isn't a 10 pounder in here.
Team?: Pink!
How are you feeling?: Kind of starting to be over pregnancy. Basically because I miss my cute winter clothes and am bored with my maternity wardrobe.
Is the third trimester what you expected?: So far, it's easier than I expected.
What are you researching?: Sleep training. I figure by the time she's here I'll be too tired to do it.
What do you have left to buy?: Our car seat was recalled, so we have to either research another or wait for the modified version.
Is your hospital bag packed?: nope
Have you had your baby shower?: kind of, we had a modified shower with just my family because of my grandfather's death. I'm hoping one of my seven SILs throws me one here but I don't think they are.
What are you most worried about?: Starting to worry about labor. I've been vacillating between natural and epidural. I guess I'll just go with the flow when the time comes.
Upload a cute photo to make the other Jan Mamas smile: We caught a smile at our 3D ultrasound...
GOLD / grapefruit / 4007 posts
@oliviaoblivia: yay! love check in time!
How far along?: 29 weeks 6 days
Baby name: Keeping a secret - but we do have one!
Recent Milestone: Hrm. we had our 4D ultrasound but baby wasn't really cooperating! Have another on the 19th!
Weight gain: about 20 lbs
Nursery status: If we had the baby today, we could function. We are just down to getting things up on the walls, decorating, etc.
Most annoying symptom?:leg cramps when i sleep!
What are you looking forward to most?: I'm just really ready to hold our little man! Also, I'm kind of ready to feel him have hiccups!
Next Appointment?: 4D ultrasound on Jan 19
Team?: Blue!
How are you feeling?: Overall, I'm feeling really good. now, my belly is just constantly in the way and I am having trouble getting up and down
Is the third trimester what you expected?: so far - yes!
What are you researching?: Breastfeeding - I'm really nervous about this!
What do you have left to buy?: We just bought our baby monitor today, which was our last huge thing to buy. Now we just have to fill in our gaps after showers
Is your hospital bag packed?: not yet!
Have you had your baby shower?: I've had one large one. We have two more smaller ones next month!
What are you most worried about?: is it petty to say getting bigger? I dont know how my body is going to get any bigger! Also, like I said before, worried about breastfeeding. My mom didn't breastfeed and I just know NOTHING and am honestly feel a little awkward about it. But we are going to give it a shot!
Upload a cute photo to make the other Jan Mamas smile:
Picture- Bear on the left is Snuggles - my hubby's bear from when he was a baby. The basketball bear on the right is something my husband insisted on buying from BRU when he saw it - he wouldn't leave the store without it! I thought that was sweet. They are in our little man's crib waiting for him!

Team?: Double blue!
How are you feeling?: Very pregnant

Is your hospital bag packed?: Nope
Have you had your baby shower?: Two down, one more tomorrow!
What are you most worried about?: Giving birth before Jan. 1
Upload a cute photo to make the other Jan Mamas smile: Our boys' coming home outfits!
pineapple / 12053 posts
EDD: january 15th
How far along?: 31 weeks tomorrow!
Baby name: TBD. we have a middle name that we're set on and pretty sure about the first, but we keep looking just in case. even if we are set, we're keeping it a secret til she's born!
Recent Milestone: hitting 30 weeks last week and getting to single digits until due date. but trying not to hold stock in that date!
Weight gain: 16 lbs?
Nursery status: not even near "complete."
Most annoying symptom?: when sleeping, left arm falls asleep, so i turn on the right side and my right leg falls asleep. that keeps me from getting a good nights rest.
What are you looking forward to most?: short term, hospital orientation. longer term: getting past dec. 21st when DH finishes his crazy class schedule, she can come any time after that!
Next Appointment?: 11/21. just a regular HB and fundal measurement appt. super fast.
Team?: we're on the lady team!
How are you feeling?: good other than waking up a million times with the extremities falling asleep. excited and still kinda in denial.
Is the third trimester what you expected?: in the last couple weeks, i've felt more pregnant, i.e.: not being able to bend over to do stuff, etc. i'm glad i'm still active though!
What are you researching?: baby routines, sleep, breastfeeding.
What do you have left to buy?: little things. my mom is bringing down all the clothes she washed after my bigger family shower and we're going to an etsy-type market on friday. i do have to get a breastpump but i'm going to wait until after january 1st in the hopes that my insurance will cover it.
Is your hospital bag packed?: NO!
Have you had your baby shower?: yep! just had my 2nd local shower with about 12 friends. now we can take stock of what we still need, but wow, people were so generous. i feel lucky!
What are you most worried about?: the timing of when she'll arrive. wanting DH to be nearby, but realizing that he'll probably be a couple hours away when labor starts.
Upload a cute photo to make the other Jan Mamas smile:
this is a little different than my usual bump photos. the pup is my SIL's who i'm watching for a couple weeks. london keeps me company and is a sweetie!

EDD: jan 11
How far along: 31w3d
Baby name: Gene or Mabel, don't know who it will be!
Recent Milestone: can't see my feet
Weight gain: 27 lbs. okay fine, 32 according to my last doctor's visit, but I was wearing clothes! I will say, it's all baby which is my only consolation that ill probably be pushing 40!
Nursery status: nonexistent. We are in an apartment so baby will be in our room. Soooo jealous of nurseries!
Most annoying symptom?: heartburn!!!! I am on Prilosec now, so it is much better. But I slept in the recliner still last night it was so bad. I throw up in my mouth constantly at night. Gross.
What are you looking forward to most?:breast feeding. Or....just getting my body back.
Next Appointment?: Monday. I plan to ask my midwife about my birth plan.
Team?: Green! I haven't been too curious, but I think that's because I'm convinced its a boy.
How are you feeling?: uncomfortable. I really thought I would be better at pregnancy than this! But, I have a rare bladder disorder that has gone into remission so I can finally eat lots of foods that I normally can't, like chocolate. I'm trying not to go overboard though!
Is the third trimester what you expected?: I didn't think it would be this hard this early. I'm still working out, but I am just kinda worn out a lot. I feel bad my husband has to pick up so much of my slack.
What are you researching?: pack n plays and laboring down.
What do you have left to buy?: EVERYTHING. We are going to be a little crazy and buy stuff when we qualify for the 10% off our amazon registry, which I think is a month beforehand? I vacillate between freaking out that we have nothing, and worrying we will buy a bunch of stuff and then people will give us gifts. We haven't really gotten any yet.
Is your hospital bag packed?: should it be?
Have you had your baby shower?: No...some in laws have offered to throw it but its kind of turning into some drama. They originally said over thanksgiving, but that isn't happening. So now it's over christmas, "so we can tell people what we need still" which means it will just be outfits instead of actual practical stuff!
What are you most worried about?: that I won't feel normal again even after delivery.
Upload a cute photo to make the other Jan Mamas smile:

@oliviaoblivia: I'm so tired of the heartburn too. It's crazy the advice people give. "Have you tried tums?" I'm sad it will mean eating little meals for thanksgiving. No fun!
I'm a little over pregnancy too. Is it too soon?

How far along?: 29 weeks 1 day
Baby name: Abigail stil deciding on a middle name
Recent Milestone: Deciding on a name
Weight gain: +14
Nursery status: Still a spare bedroom but new carpet goes in on Wed. and crib goes up in 2 weeks after my parents leave. We did clean and organize.
Most annoying symptom?: tie between heartburn and peeing all. the. time. But my heartburn is only when I have an empty tummy, so its an easy fix.
What are you looking forward to most?: actually getting to see our little one and see DH with her. I think he is more excited than I am.
Next Appointment?: 11-29 Regular check up and then I go to the 2 week appointments
Team?: pretty pretty pink
How are you feeling?: Tired and anxious but good. Surprised that I feel like nothing else matters to me anymore except what is going on in my belly.
Is the third trimester what you expected?: So far so good, I am not really sure my expectations were realistic, I thought the whole pregnancy thing would be easier.
What are you researching?: I am so over researching, but currently trying to find a pediatrician
What do you have left to buy?: Recliner, black out curtains, and then just fill in what we don't get from the shower.
Is your hospital bag packed?: nope but I have my paperwork together to go. (for the epi)
Have you had your baby shower?: Nope Dec 15 I cant wait! Both my sisters will be there, I love when our "original" family of 5 get together it doesn't happen enough
What are you most worried about?: Everything! I am constantly worried about the bean if she isn't moving, the nurse really set my anxiety in motion at my last appointment saying I was measuring really big (never mentioned before) and then saying she thought I had a pulmonary embolism. All is good and the bean is measuring in the 60th percentile which i think is pretty average. I just wish as my medical care provider you would take a moment and look at my history of anxiety and think before you speak. I had horrible nightmares last night. And labor, I googled perineal tears...what a bad idea.

EDD: Jan 10th
How far along?: 31 weeks, 5 days
Baby name: We have a short list, but we haven't decided. We'll probably wait till he gets here and see what he looks like. On the short list is Evan, Braylon, Everett, and Hunter.
Recent Milestone: I guess hitting 30 weeks
Weight gain: +23
Nursery status: Most of the furniture (waiting for the glider) is in. I hung the paper lantern mobile over the crib, and we have a few other decorations up.
Most annoying symptom?: I feel like I'm the poster child for 3rd trimester - no sleep, back pain, hip pain, shortness of breath, swelling in feet/hands, braxton hicks, heartburn...you name it, I'm probably having it.
What are you looking forward to most?: Meeting him!
Next Appointment?: Tonight. Should be just a regular heartbeat and fundal measurement. Though I do want to talk to the OB about seeing a prenatal chiropractor.
Team?: Blue
How are you feeling?: Tired. Sore. Emotional.
Is the third trimester what you expected?: I had such an easy first trimester, I expected pretty much the same from the 3rd. I'm surprised by how affected I'm feeling...and how early it's happening.
What are you researching?: Circumcision.
What do you have left to buy?: Um, pretty much everything. We're waiting until our shower to see what we'll still need to purchase.
Is your hospital bag packed?: Ha!
Have you had your baby shower?: Nope. It's Nov 25th. I am so excited! My friend who is helping my sister plan the shower banned me from her Pinterest a little bit ago, but I sneaked a peak the other day (because I'm terrible) and she has some super-cute stuff pinned!
What are you most worried about?: I am still having pretty frequent braxton hicks, and every now and then they develop into full-blown contractions. Last night I was getting very nervous because they were happening pretty frequently. I definitely need to talk to my OB about it, but I'm really afraid they'll put me on bed rest or something.
