@allison: I've been joking that I have thankles....thigh-ankles. They'll go away soon enough.

Today, I lost my belly button.

@oliviaoblivia: waiting to lose my belly button -i'm so surprised i haven't yet! It has gotten so small and tight and weird looking.

@oliviaoblivia: oh I lost that months ago

On another note I have been have contractions all weekend, mostly during the night, so we went into to be monitored and I only had one in 20 minutes. They checked me and I am at 0 with a long cervix...they said if I was dilated to 3 and having a few more contractions they would have just done the c section. Oh well back home and 29 more days!

I got my maternity photos done this weekend. It was a lot of fun and I'm so glad I did it. I'm up so many times during the night which is killing my sleep. Reflux also driving me crazy. I

Tonight I tried to squat down to see something at Lowe's and I fell over onto my butt and back. Crazy.

@littlebug: Bronchitis! Oh so sorry for you.

I've got a cold as well and the whole weekend has been awful. Can't breath, can't sleep, had to cancel all kinds of plans so as to rest. Apparently colds and bronchitis etc are worse when pregnant because we're producing extra mucus to begin with. Bleh!!!

    @kayakgirl73: haha nice.

Isn't reflux awful? I'm sicker now than in the first tri. Do you take anything for it?

  8. kayakgirl73

    clementine / 750 posts

@jedeve: Tums Ultra's and basic Pepcid. I also have been trying to eat dinner a early as I can. Dinner used to be my big issue but lately lunch is getting to be a problem and I'm even having issues at random times. Ugh.

Now i'm having weird sensations in my lower legs, around my ankle/lower shin - like the tendons are getting all loose in there. It happens if I'm half awake, and if i rotate my legs in certain ways I feel like i can't hold my ankles in one place. It's really hard to explain - but it feels similar to when you are recovering from a sprained ankle or something - everything feels all week in there. I'm guessing it's the relaxin? So I'll add some ankle alphabets into my nightly routine, i guess.

@shoemama: oh wow, i can't believe you could have had your baby! have you had any more contractions? hope you are feeling well.

@coacheswife123: @heartsnsunshine: yeah, i can't tell what's going on with my belly button. it's not quite disappeared, but it definitely isn't looking like its normal self.

@Jumpingjacks: hope you feel better soon!

@kayakgirl73: ooh hope you post some of your maternity photos!

i've been a ball of anxiety lately--like taking care of a baby is a big test and i'm going to fail. i've decided that i need to relax a bit and be more prepared to go with the flow as opposed to trying to read up on every little thing before the baby comes.

Glad to see everyone is doing well. I know I havent spoke up much recently. Been pretty crazy. Well I still have a job. The new company hired me on. Now is just getting answers about Maternity leave. NO ONE will give me any answers and I keep getting told "Just wait a little bit longer as we get more established". Great, thats just great. I can only wait so long though! I had my baby shower. That went great. It was this last weekend. Lots of great stuff. Was really surprised the nice and practical things people got me. So super excited about that. Most people brought a pack or a BOX of diapers (all sizes) so have a good start on that.
I am feeling anxious and ready. But I feel guilty getting "too excited". Our sweet baby girl coming means DH leaving and being gone so long and missing so much. I feel like DH and I are so "reserved" on our excitement. Dont get me wrong, we are so excited, and love her so much already...but knowing he is going to miss the first 1.5 yrs of her life casts a shadow on the excitement. <sigh> But yes....we are ready and cant wait to meet her. Birthing class is getting us both more excited though. We have two more classes and then a BF class. Getting so close!!!!! : )

@Rescuemom10: I can't believe it's getting so close for all of us. So much to yet however. Ugh. My nursery furniture still isn't in. I need to find a breastfeeding class and I wonder if I should take something on infant care.

@Rescuemom10: I'm so glad you job situation is working out. It sucks that they are being so evasive about your mat leave! That would drive me nuts.
You are one strong lady to deal with that whole mess on top of being pregnant and facing your DH's deployment. Thank you both for your service. I have nothing but respect for military families and the sacrifices you make for our country.

Does anyone have any updates? I'm just counting down the days first to mat leave and then to baby. I can't believe the December babies are arriving already! We're next! Ack!

@kayakgirl73: I feel ya there too. We are re-finishing an old antique dresser for her Nursery and its not done yet. Its driving me crazy its not. I feel like I am at a "halt" in her room until I can get it in there and put clothes in it and what not. The nursery is a MESS right now. There is just baby stuff ALL over. Its almost overwhelming to go in there. I dont know what to do with it all until I have all my furniture. Ugh!

@oliviaoblivia: Thanks so much for your kind words. Part of me wants it to NOT come, and the other part is so sick of it "dangling" over us I just want it to start so I can get it over with. Not that I wish my first year with DD to go by fast....just a mix of emotions.

Works a mess, but I am glad I have a job. They were cheap with us on pay, but its still not bad. With this company I think there may be more room for growth and raises where as there were NONE with the old company. Something good will come out of it eventually. Just not fun at all right now. I dont qualify for FMLA now, so looking into my other options. Ugh!

I dont know about you gals, but something definitely changed this week (33) and I am just miserable, uncomfortable and swollen now! I'm pretty much over being pregnant (but I want baby to keep growing so I guess I'm stuck haha). Im quickly growing out of my maternity clothes and the pair of shoes I bought earlier bc my feet had grown (I'm now up a full size!!). My back is aching and my belly hurts from the weight. Sigh. Making a human us hard! Lol! I'm trying to downplay how bad I feel to everyone, even DH. I'm not sure why, I guess I dont like ppl to see me vulnerable and think I need to be strong. I was so looking forward to having everyone at our house for Christmas and now I'm starting to dread it bc I can only imagine how
much worse I'm going to feel in 3 weeks. Sorry for being such s downer today!

  17. Rescuemom10

    pear / 1965 posts

@Kffw: I feel ya. I hit that this last week at 31 weeks. Im feeling very "over it" myself. For Thansgiving we had a TON of people over. DH has been in the Mailitary for some time, we tend to invite the new/younger/junior sailors over who dont have plans, plus our "military family"...basically anyone who doesnt have plans is invited over. So its a packed house. I broke down when everyone left. Took so much to entertian that many, I hurt sooooo bad!!! Its hard smiling through it all. Im like you, I dont want people to know or see otherwise.

@Kffw: Yeah, I'm pretty much over this pregnancy thing, too. Baby apparently has grown SO much the last couple weeks. Tops that fit well 2 weeks ago now look too small or too short. I can pretty much only wear maternity clothes (before, I could still pull off some longer pre-preg tees and such). I also had to cave and buy a new bra -- the sports bras I bought a few months ago started cutting my circulation off! I got a nursing bra from Target, and it's okay. Not a ton of support, but at least it's comfortable. My aforementioned cankles have mostly gone away for now, so that's nice.

Also over this. I have restless leg syndrome, terrible heartburn, am up 5x a night because I'm hungry, and now just everything aches and hurts and I am so, so uncomfortable that I'm miserable. I've started swelling and I feel huge. I didn't want to be like this. I wanted to be good at pregnancy. I feel like I've failed.

  23. oliviaoblivia

    pineapple / 12793 posts

Yeah. Hit week 35 and I'm over it. She can come any day now....not that I'm ready, just ready to sleep on my stomach again.
@jedeve: you haven't failed at growing a healthy baby. Maybe just failed at enjoying it

Why am I awake at 3am baby?

@Kffw: i told my mom last night i'm ready to have control of my own body again - i am right there with you ladies!

  25. littlebug

    honeydew / 7504 posts

@jedeve: No fail! We're all kicking ass at this, no matter how tired, puffy, achy, heartburny, disgusting we feel!

But yeah....I'm over it. And I have a hard time saying that to anyone but you guys. So thank goodness for our January board! People ask me if I'm done with it and I just don't feel right admitting that, yeah, I'm tired of being tired and just want my body back. I've been really lucky and had an easy pregnancy, and even now I probably feel better than most women do at almost 35 weeks, but still. It's starting to feel like I've been pregnant forever and like I cannot remember a day when I wasn't in some kind of physical agony.

@jedeve: @oliviaoblivia: @coacheswife123: @littlebug: don't feel bad ladies, pregnancy is so tough!! I am soooooo over it this 2nd time around. I definitely can't see myself doing this a 3rd time so I'm trying to enjoy it a little bit ... but I still don't really.

  27. shoemama

@Andrea: I agree. We are done at two, so although I am so over it...I am trying to relish in the last weeks because this is probably my last pregnancy! I have mixed feelings, but we are good with two kids.

Thanks ladies, I feel better! I had a massive crying session to DH last night. Can't wait until 37 weeks when I won't feel guilty about hoping the baby comes!

I had something to ask but I forget now.

  29. Andrea

GOLD / wonderful coffee bean / 18478 posts

@jedeve: I hope you feel better after having a good cry. When are you 37 weeks?

I am 37 weeks on Saturday but I don't feel like this baby is gonna come soon. I have no BHs/cramps/nada. Ho hum.

  30. jedeve

    pomegranate / 3643 posts

@Andrea: Not till the 22. I hope it's a January baby, not late December though, so I don't really want it to come early. Plus I know it's better for the baby to stay in.

I've had BH for a while now, but I usually don't notice them. My MW points them out at visits because my stomach gets hard. Maybe you've had a few and haven't noticed!!

@jedeve: I don't think my stomach gets hard? I know I've had a few but nothing for quite some time now. I would rather have a January baby, too. Or Dec 24th bc DH, DD1, and I were all born on the 24th day of different months so it would be cool for DD2 to be in the club.

  33. littlebug

    honeydew / 7504 posts

Have any of you noticed your hands hurting? Not like carpel tunnel, where it goes into your wrist. But like your actual hands. My hands really hurt, it hurts to bend my fingers, and it's even affecting my grip! I'm assuming it's from the relaxin or from the swelling, but I've never heard of anyone having this.

  34. edelweiss

    grapefruit / 4923 posts

@jedeve: sometimes a good cry session can make you feel so much better, don't you think? i've had my share of those.

@Andrea: wow that's a lot of 24ths--how cool! i haven't had BH either (at least i don't think so), although i'm a bit behind you at 33.5 weeks.

@littlebug: i've heard of pregnant women getting carpal tunnel but not general hand pain--you're probably right that it's the relaxin, but it may be worth asking your doctor about, especially if it's interfering with your motor skills? i'm sorry about the discomfort!

@allison: i hadn't seen it, thanks for posting! i'm definitely going to take a closer look today because i've been curious about what position the baby is in to cause the movement that i'm feeling.

  35. Kffw

    grape / 89 posts

@Allison: I have had hand pain this week. I am dropping things all the time because my grip is so bad.

I had a check-up yesterday. My doc wants me to talk to work about working from home due to my severe swelling. I'm so nervous about asking though! I haven't worked here that long so I don't know how my bosses will react. If they won't allow t,
I think she is going to pull me out officially. I'm also having an ultrasound today bc I am measuring 40 weeks (should be 34-35). I was measuring large at 24 weeks but have been caught up since then. Now I'm huge again! Hopefully it is related to baby's position and not anything else.

  36. oliviaoblivia

    pineapple / 12793 posts

@Kffw: At my last appointment 33w I was measuring 37w....so we did an ultrasound and it's due to a big baby. I hope your's is just positional. And hopefully your bosses will let you work from home.

Are any of you writing a birth plan? I'm curious as to what your plans are.

  37. edelweiss

    grapefruit / 4923 posts

@Kffw: i hope your work is understanding of the position that you're in--they should be. your and the baby's health are more important than physically being in the office. good luck with the talk and let us know how it goes!

@oliviaoblivia: i have toyed with the idea of writing one, but i haven't yet, and if i do it will be really short. i know if i start getting into it too much, i will fixate and may become unnecessarily sad/upset if things don't work out the way i envision them. my big things are--laboring at home for as long as possible; being mobile as long as possible at the hospital (i.e. holding off on an epidural or going without); and getting skin to skin contact after the baby is checked out and hopefully everything is okay (which is probably the standard of care at the hospital, but i have to check). i don't have super strong feelings about episiotomies/forceps/etc. and will do them if my doctor recommends them.

how about you? are you going to write a birth plan?

  38. oliviaoblivia

    pineapple / 12793 posts

@edelweiss: A lot of the standard procedures at our hospital are things I would include in a birth plan, skin-to-skin, delayed cord cutting, etc. So I'm thinking of writing one to organize my thoughts about what I want - no epidural, as natural as possible - but not giving it to the staff. Mrs.Jacks post about birth plans and how some staff get annoyed by them really resonated with me.

  39. Kffw

    grape / 89 posts

@edelweiss: discussed the issue with my bosses and they were super nice and understanding. They are going to talk to HR and see what we can figure out as a plan. That's the downside of a big corporation- HR has to approve everything. So we will see how that goes. Getting ready to head to the u/s.

@oliviabolivia: I was initially going to do a birth plan, but as I learned more about delivery and birth, have decided not to. The hospital I am delivering at is fantastic and things that I would include are standard practice for them. Everything else seems so out of my control (as far as how labor goes) that i don't want to set expectations that won't be met.

  40. dagret

    grapefruit / 4235 posts

I am going to write up a birth plan but more along the lines of what @oliviaoblivia mentions. I'm open to the process and however the baby comes safely is OK with me.

I gave work my proposed leave plan about 2 weeks ago and haven't heard anything back yet. It's kind of frustrating...
