I'm so paranoid that I'm going to have this baby soon that I just went on a huge online shopping spree! I woke up at 4am and couldn't go back to sleep, so I started buying things on Amazon and Etsy. No bueno for our bank account, but I can't wait to get all our goods.

@Mrs Green Grass: I'm so happy to hear baby boy is doing well, still!

@pinkb: Thinking about you, & hoping everything is working out well for you, too. Let us know when you get a chance!

I slipped in the gym shower room yesterday. Didn't fall; I grabbed the wall in time. But today I'm soooooo sore. I've felt like my groin muscles have been pulled since 28 weeks, but today it's those plus all my front pelvic muscles. I can barely walk!!

  15. pl0508

    GOLD / grapefruit / 4007 posts

@jedeve: oh no! I'm so sorry, but glad you didn't fall. I've felt super sore (for no apparent reason) a lot lately too. We are almost done!!! Kudos to you for going to the gym, ha!

Went back to my doc today because I was having sharp pains on my upper right side. I knew it was probably nothing but thought better safe than sorry. She is running labs again but said it was probably fine. She officially wants me out of work due to all my swelling. So dealing with that should be fun! Ugh! Only 4.5 weeks!

  17. birdofafeather

    pineapple / 12053 posts

@Kffw: boo to swelling! i got a massage today because my back hurts and hands/arms have had crazy swelling. it was so so so nice. if you can set aside money/time, i would totally recommend finding someone who knows prenatal massage and what mamas need!

@jedeve: Yikes!!! Glad you caught yourself.
I have had the same groin pain where it feels like my muscles there are tearing. Ugh its seriously been the one thing that I have hated the MOST. Hurts to walk all the time.
Everyone always talks about back pain and hips etc....none of my friends have had that so its nice to hear im not just weird and someone else has that too.

@jedeve: Oh gosh, I'm so glad you didn't fall! I hope the soreness goes away soon.

@Kffw: I am pretty swollen, too. My hands hurt constantly and it's affecting my grip - I feel like I have arthritis!

@birdofafeather: My chiropractor just lightly rubs my back during my adjustments and THAT feels awesome. I would love a prenatal massage!

Baby has been moving around so much this past week. Like, changing positions. One day s(he)'ll be head down, leaning on my left side. The next day, same position, but on my right side. Earlier today, s(he) was completely sideways -- I felt two big bulges on either side of my belly. Now I think (s)he's feet down because I keep feeling a lot of movement at the bottom!

I thought, by this time, that they didn't move around that much because there wasn't that much room in there. What's been y'all's experiences? I wish (s)he'd just stay head-down, on the left, so I wouldn't have to worry about breech...

    GOLD / grapefruit / 4007 posts

@Kffw: almost done! glad she isn't worried about the pains!

@allison: little guy moves a lot - but i feel the same body parts in the same places and have for a while! His feet are constantly on my ribs on the right side!! I went to the doc today (34 weeks) and he is head down and face down - hope he doesn't move!

Oh - and he weighs about 6 lbs now. What am I going to do with him for 6 more weeks?!

  22. jedeve

    pomegranate / 3643 posts

@allison: my MW says baby is head down, but I feel bulges on both sides of my tummy sometimes. I can't figure it out!

  23. oliviaoblivia

    pineapple / 12793 posts

@coacheswife123: You and I are going to be birthing whoppers. Our girl was 6.25lbs at 33w1d. We can do it!

@allison: Mine is head down and hasn't moved from that position at 20 weeks. Sometimes she'll rotate so that she is facing left, but 90% of the time she is facing right with her legs kicking my right side. When is your next appointment? Hopefully your doc can ease your nerves.

@pinkb: Thinking about you and hoping your LO is still an inside baby!

  24. pl0508

    GOLD / grapefruit / 4007 posts

@oliviaoblivia: I know! At least we are in it together - haha! We will do another ultrasound at 37 or 38 weeks so she can check his size. I really hope that I just go into labor instead of her inducing me! From what she said yesterday, she seems to think if I don't go into labor we'll induce and hope for the best - but may end in csection if my cervix doesn't cooperate and the longer I wait until 40 the greater the chances of a csection because of his size. Just too early to tell at this point. I'm ok with a section if that's what is necessary for him to get here healthy and happy but would REALLY love for my body to just go into labor naturally after he is full term. I think she wants that for me, too, but is also just preparing me in case a section is necessary! Has your doc mentioned any concerns with you about size/delivery?

  25. pl0508

    GOLD / grapefruit / 4007 posts

@jedeve: i get bulges too, even though he is head down! my u/s tech said that on the right side i'm seeing his feet and his butt on the left! then again, his legs are loooonnnnnng!

  26. oliviaoblivia

    pineapple / 12793 posts

@coacheswife123: I'll get another ultrasound at my 38 week appointment. We have talked a bit about not letting the pregnancy go too long but I really would rather not induce and want to avoid a c-section.
All of my mom's babies were big - I was 9lbs9oz and born on my due date. I figure if she could deliver me vaginally without pain meds that I'm probably not going to have a problem with this baby. My doula says that it's really the size of the head that determines whether I can deliver vaginally or not. Here's to hoping baby girl has a reasonably sized head!

Sorry ladies i havent been back on. But we got to come home yesterday! Still on meds to stop the contractions and on strict bed rest. But it's helping, went down to 4cm from the 5cm! (I never knew that could happen lol) But still very thinned out. So she will definitely be early but trying to make it at least a couple more weeks. They estimate her at 5lbs now so that is a good size for 33 weeks. Thank you for all the well wishes sorry i didnt respond to each of you am just borrowing my sisters lap top for a moment and wanted to update.

@coacheswife123: @allison: @oliviaoblivia: I get the weird bulges on opposite side of my uterus too, and yesterday at my appointment they said the one side was his shoulder and the other side was "appendages." So he's curled up face down in there. Sometimes I feel lots of movement at the bottom and figure he must have his hands up by his face? maybe?

@pinkb: glad to hear she's still in there! Take care!

I haven't had any U/S lately so not sure on what the measurements will be...DH was almost 11 lbs, and his nephews were all 8.5+; it's my side that makes the small babies. No idea what to expect at this point!

  34. Rescuemom10

    pear / 1965 posts

@pinkb: Whew...glad you got her to stay in there. Hang in there!

I havent had an u/s since I was 21 weeks. I am nervous about having a big baby as she was a little big for 21 weeks at that time. I cant imagine another 7 weeks and WHERE she is going to grow and how the heck I have room. So you ladies talking about having a big baby....I was big, DH was big....I will have another u/s just not sure when. Will ask the doc on Monday when I see him. Need to make sure she is head down too. at 21 weeks she was not.

@pinkb: YAY! So thrilled to hear that you're home!

I haven't had an ultrasound since (I think) 26 weeks. At that time, he was measuring right on track. Since then, my fundal measurements have been pretty right on track, too. Last time (2 weeks ago, at 34 weeks) she said I was on the top end of normal, but she also thought he was sticking his butt in the air, which could have something to do with it. We have our first weekly appointment tomorrow, so hopefully we'll get a better idea of his size then. He's been head down, as far as I know, since 32 weeks. Sometimes I get a little nervous that he's at an angle, though, because I feel his butt in the upper right and I'm pretty sure his head is down by my left hip. Hopefully I'm just not feeling the right things, though, and he is truly head down! Guess I'll find out tomorrow!

Great news from me on the maternity leave front!

I don't know if you remember my can't find a job saga, but I got hired at 5.5 months, started work when I was 6 months pregnant. I didn't think they'd let me take more than 6 weeks unpaid. But it turns out that they are giving me 1 month paid + 2 months unpaid!! I'm so happy to be home for 3 months. Plus it's a part time job, and they said they were happy to let me keep working part time after the baby for as long as I am interested. Yay! I feel so lucky. I love my job - it's flexible, intellectually stimulating, and will bring in enough to cover daycare + help us save up for a house.

36 weeks tomorrow - can't believe I'm one week a way from being full term! DH and I had a "OMG we could be bringing a baby home in just a few weeks" moment yesterday.

@pinkb: Ah! I'm so glad to hear that you're home with that baby still in your belly! Just a few more weeks to go!

I had my u/s today and apparently I was wrong about baby's position -- totally head down. Yay! Also, my placenta has moved away from my cervix, so I'm good to go with that, too. Baby weighs approx. 5lbs, 6oz which is, I think, 47th percentile. Everything measures about on track w/ my due date, except for the head, which is measuring a week bigger (uhh!). I know one week isn't that much of a difference, but of course it had to be the head that's bigger than everything else!

I don't go back to the dr. until the week of Christmas... have y'all moved to once-a-week appointments already?

@jedeve: I had one of those OMG moments today, when we found out how much the baby weighed. I just keep envisioning this tiny thing inside me, and to know baby is that big just made it so much more real. I'm ready, though!
