@allison: I wish that was during the day time! I get so tired of getting up to potty and my hands are SO dry from washing/hand sanitizing!

@coacheswife123: I feel like I should just set myself up on the toilet, with my laptop and a warm blanket. That would make my life much easier.
Things are coming together here! We've got all our baby goods washed, folded, and ready to go. We're using several wool things, so I had to lanolize all that shit today. So fun. The changing table is almost complete (DH is painting it).
I ordered some tea the other day from Mountain Rose Herbs that's supposed to support breastfeeding & encourage milk supply. It's called Nurse-me Rhyme tea, if anyone's interested. You can order from their website. I've been drinking their Fecundi Tea throughout the pregnancy, and I'm going to switch to straight red raspberry leaf tea in a couple weeks.

@allison: @coacheswife123: Don't hate me, but I don't get up to pee at night. DH jokes that my bladder is the MVP of the pregnancy. I keep waiting for the constant bathroom visits to start. I've asked my doc about it like five times and she says as long as I'm drinking enough (I am) that it's fine. Thank you bladder.
GOLD / grapefruit / 4007 posts
@oliviaoblivia: lucky!! Count your lucky stars. I've seriously been buying double the amount of toilet paper we normally would in a month. I go through it SO FAST!
pineapple / 12793 posts
It seriously freaks me out. Pre-preg my bladder was always really good and I could go for long road trips and not have to stop, but I really expected it to change during pregnancy.
honeydew / 7504 posts
@oliviaoblivia: Same here! I only get up once, sometime between 2-5am, then I fall right back asleep. I keep thinking something has to be wrong with me, but doc says I'm just lucky!
pear / 1895 posts
Yeah, I think I have a small bladder anyway. I got up at least once during the night before I was pregnant.
I don't really have heartburn, though, so I'll just rest in that fact. Ha.
pineapple / 12793 posts
@allison: Now I hate you and your heartburn free existence!
I didn't even know what heartburn was until I was knocked up....now I go through Tums like I own shares in the company!
GOLD / grapefruit / 4007 posts
@oliviaoblivia: I had never eaten a Tums at all before pregnancy. I've now gone through two big containers of them in the past 8 months!
pineapple / 12053 posts
@oliviaoblivia: @allison: i have to pee 20 times a day and i have heartburn. boo!
clementine / 750 posts
I'm up constantly peeing. we're certainly going through the toilet paper faster. I'm about to open my third large bottle of tums. I can't wait to be done. I want to make it past Christmas though. My nursery furniture finally comes tomorrow. Yay.
pineapple / 12793 posts
I'm on my third bottle of Tums at home and my second one at work.
Ladies, can we talk stretch marks? I knew that I'd get them because I got a ton during puberty but I'm totally bummed out by these tiger stripes right now.
GOLD / grapefruit / 4007 posts
@oliviaoblivia: I don't have any - YET. I'm still fully preparing myself to have them in these last few weeks, though! My mom got a few with both of her pregnancies so I don't think I'm in the clear! One place I noticed them - but I think they are from pre pregnancy because I noticed them really early at like 18 weeks - were on my hips??? I don't know when I got them but they are really light.
pineapple / 12793 posts
@coacheswife123: I had some new ones on my hips at 8 weeks.
I really hope those are the only ones you get!
The ones on my belly showed up at about 32 weeks. My weight gain has been really minimal so I'm surprised I have as many as I do. Oh well.
GOLD / grapefruit / 4007 posts
We'll see! I feel like I am on the high end of the weight gain spectrum (up 26 lbs at my 34 week appointment last week). Also, surprised my belly button STILL hasn't popped out. I've been thinking it is going to for two months!
grape / 89 posts
@coacheswife123: that isn't the high end of weight gain! I've gained right at 40 lbs as of 35 weeks!!!! I was doing great until i started retaining fluid really bad. I'm a small person who is typically thin, so this is awful. So far, no stretch marks, but I don't have high hopes for it staying that way!
GOLD / grapefruit / 4007 posts
@Kffw: haha! my Dr told me I should gain between 20-25 lbs so I thought I was high because I was over 25 with 5 weeks left to go!
pomegranate / 3643 posts
Oh ladies...I've gotten up to pee 3x a night for years! About the same during pregnancy (maybe more like 4) but my main problem is eating at night because I'm so hungry (makes me think I'm having a boy!), drinking a tiny bit because I'm super thirsty, then having bad heartburn and gagging on the reflux until I wake up coughing and choking.
Please tell me a crying newborn will be more enjoyable in the middle of the night!
On the bright side, I don't have any stretch marks, but I'm sure I will get them - I have them on my inner thighs from puberty. I very may well have some on my hips, but I can't see my hips. Also, I'm already up about 35 lbs with 3.5 weeks left. WTF. I really don't look it and people are always shocked when I tell them. But this extra weight is a lot to lug around!
GOLD / grapefruit / 4007 posts
@jedeve: I've woken up once with the gagging . I'd say the absolute worst for me has been leg cramps in the middle of the night. I swear I wake up feeling like I'm being murdered?!?!I'm the total opposite! People look at me and are like "whoa you are big"! Haha! Are you long waisted? I'm super short waisted so I think that has something to do with how I'm carrying, too!

Re: stretch marks -- I'm REALLY surprised I don't have more than I do. I think I saw one or two the other day on my belly, but that's it, so far. That I can see, anyway. I, too, got a ton during puberty (boobs, inner thighs, hips), so I'm sure I'm not in the clear. My only hope is that I won't go overdue so maybe I can miss the worst of them. I've heard they can show up postpartum, too, though!
I've gained 23 lbs at 35 weeks, and I feel pretty good about that. I'm thinking I can keep it under 30 total, which was my goal. Though I'm planning to pig out next week, so we'll see...
pineapple / 12053 posts
no stretch marks, but the circulation in my arms and the peeing every hour during the night makes it really tough to sleep at all
@jedeve: i told my friend who is a new mom that even though i know i'll be absolutely exhausted, the thought of just passing out and not waking up for even 2 hours at a stretch sounds dreamy. i think she thought i was crazy.
GOLD / grapefruit / 4007 posts
@allison: i think i'm definitely going to hit the 30 lb mark!! You are doing great!
cherry / 175 posts
i have a 2 stretch marks from my 1st pregnancy and they have gotten worse, but not any more! I've gained 35 lbs and I'm really small, so I look huge!!! Hopefully I wont gain anymore for the rest of the pregnancy and the heartburn is awful!!!
grapefruit / 4235 posts
@allison: I don't have any heartburn either.
But i do pee constantly.

So I've been having lots of discharge for the last few weeks and noticed it was a little heavier today. My midwife said I could be losing my mucus plug when I saw her 2 weeks ago. Have you guys had anything like that? She didn't seem to think it meant birth was imminent but now I'm going to start analyzing everything. I had BH last night and a backache, so I was starting to worry!
My ODD based on my LMP is 12/30 instead of 1/11 (based on US). So I feel like this baby could very easily come before the 11th. But I REALLY hope its a January baby. For selfish reasons:
* I don't want a Christmas baby. Especially not a post-Christmas baby. I don't want to have to worry about birthday's being lost in the shuffle every year!
* Our health insurance. We haven't met our deductible for this year yet since we started a new plan in September, so we'd be paying out of pocket for most of the delivery. And then we are starting another new plan in January (DH's company switched plans right after he started there!) Which obviously we would have to do in January, too, but then at least we would hit our out of pocket max and could have free health care for the rest of the year. I'm most worried that baby will stay in the hospital over the new year's and we'll have 2 plans to deal with!
* On the other hand, we would qualify for the EITC this year since we were in grad school for most of the year and haven't earned that much. Which should balance out the health care costs. So maybe it's a wash and baby should just come!
Is anyone else worried for/hoping for a December baby?
GOLD / wonderful coffee bean / 18478 posts
@jedeve: Based on my LMP, my date is 12/29! I also don't really want the Xmas/post Xmas baby due to the bday thing. I am not sure a few days into January will make a difference, though. I feel like people are going to be blah about your LO's bday either way? Sad!
My discharge has been crazy heavy today!

My birthday is the 28th, and I've hated it my whole life! It's the pits. So no, I adamantly do NOT want a post-Xmas baby.

My furniture is here and it looks great. Yay. I feel a bit better now it's here.
I'm so worn out from being pregnant. So darn uncomfortable. Curious to see what the doc says this week. I wonder if I've made any progress. I hope the baby makes it to the New Year, however if she doesn't the tax deduction would be nice. I really don't want her to have a December birthday. My husband has a January 1st birthday, he hopes he doesn't have to share, but I think he likes his B-day.
pineapple / 12793 posts
I'm hoping to have the baby as far from Christmas as I can...despite wanting her out right now! My grandmother's bday was Dec. 26 and she was bitter about it for her whole life.
And yeah...the discharge..yuck!
pomegranate / 3643 posts
@allison: My little sister's is the 23rd and she loves it. I think post-Christmas is much worse!
Luckily it seems like we're less likely to have the baby right around Christmas: http://gawker.com/Common-Birth-Dates/

Omigosh, the discharge! Sorry if this is TMI, but I've kind of always had a fair amount of discharge - I've worn pantiliners every day since I was like 18. It increased with pregnancy, for sure, but in the past few days, I have had to change my pantiliner when I get home from work. It's ridiculous!
I definitely don't want a December baby, even though my step-dad is pushing for it so we can get the tax credit. Even with the EDD of 1/10, I still worry that it's so close to Christmas he'll kind of get lost in the shuffle. But mostly I don't want him to come in December because I want him to keep cooking! My BIL did a baby pool at our Christmas party last week, and I chose 1/8 for his Birth Day!

i would like her to stay in there until at least the 8th. that's 39 weeks and DH is done with a week long stint of hospital rotations that he picked up hoping to get everything done before she arrives! if she comes earlier then he has to redo his whole schedule/won't be able to be around as much!
GOLD / grapefruit / 4007 posts
I want him to stay in until he's full term (week after christmas) but after that- all bets are off! I'm ok with him coming any time after he is full term haha! Can you tell I'm ready to have him on the outside??!!

i'm truly jealous of all of you who don't get up to pee or get up less than 3 times per night. it's the #1 thing that's preventing me from getting enough sleep. and then when i come back to bed, our dogs have parked themselves in my spot!
i haven't looked closely for stretch marks, but i have some from puberty so i figure i'll probably have some from pregnancy.

I just booked myself a prenatal massage and pedicure for next Friday. I CAN'T WAIT!
