@allison: Nope, not at all. NYC is 3.5 hours away from us. And I have a dr. appointment the day before the concert.

@dagret: I was JUST reading your other thread. Yeah, I mean, as long as you're not dilated or anything, I would think it would be pretty unusual for you to go into labor. And you have friends and family nearby that can help out if you did.
You should do something fun while he's gone, too! Have a girls night or go to the spa or something.

@allison: Yeah, I'm off for the holidays so I think i'll do something special for myself too!

@dagret: DH has been gone M-F about 3 hours away for the last 4 months, so obviously i'm biased, but i think it would be fine for him to go to the concert. i'm 36 weeks now and haven't seen DH since Sunday. He'll be gone all during the next couple weeks (except next week!) and I know he would leave at a moments notice if anything happened! go pamper yourself!

EDD: January 31st
Team: PINK
Full term yet?: Not yet! 34 weeks
Are you over pregnancy?: Yes, I feel bad because I have had a pretty easy pregnancy. But I am such a busy body and I feel so limited since being Prego that its been hard to adjust to all the things I CANT do.
Biggest discomfort: big belly and my hips, its like I can feel my inner thigh muscles tearing
Excited or nervous: EXCITED, I dont feel nervous. I want her here so bad, I dont want her to be late because I want DH to have as much time with her as possible so I am VERY ready for her to be here as soon as I am full term.
Big purchases left to buy: Nothing really.
Think you'll go early or late: I seriously pray I will go early.
Are you worried about having a holiday baby: NOPE, I know they would try to stop me if I went that early.
**Also, thanks everyone for the kind words! You all are the best. Glad to hear everyone is doing so well. We are in the home stretch!!! : )

I can't wait for all of you guys to join me! Dylan will probably still come home right around my due date and he'll be behaving like a newborn so I'll be happy to have someplace to chat...the October board wasn't right for me since I can't do all of the normal mom things yet.
Feel free to ask me about labor and stuff...and I'm a pumping expert by now. ; /

We had some drama.
I've been very upset and concerned because my baby is breech and I've been doing everything under the sun to get her to turn with no luck so far. My blood pressure has been steadily rising for the last two weeks as well. Last night my blood pressure spiked above the 140/90 threshold that the midwives were comfortable with so DH and I had to go to the hospital. They did a bunch of tests on me and monitored the baby, which all came back normal and for two hours at the hospital my BP was lower than it had been in over two weeks and completely normal. So, after discussing it, we think it's psychosomatic and I'm freaking myself out about the breech baby and possible c-section. This BP drama also all occurred following a conversation with my midwife where she had schedule me for a ECV (external something version) where a doc will manually attempt to turn the baby. It is scheduled for a week from now. So now I'm on orders to do absolutely nothing, but relax and skip out on any large scale xmas activities (we're planning a very low-key holiday time anyway).
Anyway, it's very difficult not knowing how this baby is going to come out of me (it's hard to mentally prepare) and unfortunately my anxious personality has been getting the better of me.

@Jumpingjacks: Oh, I'm sorry! That would be freaking me out, too. I hope the version works for you and you can get at least some comfort.

I think I started losing my mucus plug yesterday. Either that or I'm bleeding a little bit from my cervical check on Wednesday evening. But I've been noticing some brown-tinged discharge, and yesterday I had some pink-tinged stuff when I wiped. And at one trip to the bathroom, there was a splootch of pink-tinged stuff in the toilet. I'm keeping an eye on it. I've read you can lose your plug over time for several days, but then other people have said they lost their plug and went into labor within 24 hours. I'm REALLY hoping I'm in the former group and just slowly shedding my plug! I'm not really feeling any contractions or anything. A few, but certainly nothing even remotely regular or strong.
pear / 1895 posts
@Jumpingjacks: Ah! That sucks so much; I'm sorry you have to deal with this. When I thought my babe was breech, I kept reminding myself of all the stories I've heard of babies turning at 38/39 weeks. You've still got time! Also, my husband made me feel a little better about a possible c-section by reminding me that c-sections are so routine these days. I'm sure, if it comes to that, that you and baby will be absolutely fine. Try not to worry, but I know that's SO much easier said than done.
We've been watching season 2 of Shameless (anyone?) and this morning around 5am I woke up and got myself all stressed out worrying that my baby has Downs Syndrome. Good lord.
GOLD / wonderful coffee bean / 18478 posts
@Jumpingjacks: aww, I understand your stress. I hope they can successfully turn your baby and put your mind at ease.
@littlebug: it sounds like you've lost more than me but I think I lost a bit over a week ago as well. No labor but I am dilated 1 cm so I think that happened around the same time. I am having another cervical check today, hoping for more progress!
GOLD / grapefruit / 4007 posts
@Jumpingjacks: oh no I'm sorry! Just keep in mind - at the end of the day (no matter how it happens!) you will have your sweet baby in your arms and in the long run that is what will matter most to you!
@littlebug: crazy to see how people are starting to really progress on here! Keep us updated!!!!
honeydew / 7504 posts
@Andrea: Yeah, I had the OB appointment on Wednesday where she did a cervical check and said that I'm 1cm dilated. And yesterday I started having the tinged mucus/discharge. I'm sure one has to do with the other. Just hoping he holds out for a little bit longer!
apricot / 426 posts
@littlebug: @allison: @Andrea: @coacheswife123: Thank you. I appreciate your words of encouragement. I'm getting more used to the idea of a c-section now, even though it's not my preference. The uncertainty is really hard. Anyway, the baby and myself are both healthy and will probably remain so (as long I can stay relaxed!!) and that is the most important thing.
grapefruit / 4923 posts
@Jumpingjacks: aw, i'm sorry about all the anxiety--i would be feeling the same way. fingers crossed that the baby will turn and that your blood pressure stays low.
@littlebug: i'm almost 36 weeks, and at my last appointment my ob told me that some spotty blood discharge might occur, especially after cervical checks, but not to worry unless it was a flow or period heavy. and that's good to know from shoemama that losing the mucus plug doesn't necessarily mean labor is impending!
@allison: oh i'm sorry you were all stressed out! i've been worrying that they got the sex wrong and it's going to be a girl (this obviously isn't as big of a deal as what you're talking about). we haven't purchased boy-themed things, but people have handed down boy-themed stuff. oh well, if it's a girl she'll just have to wear lots of blue.
@Mrs Green Grass: glad to hear dylan is doing well and we hope he gets to come home soon!

EDD: 1/20/13
Team: boy
Full term yet?: nope, 35.5 weeks
Are you over pregnancy?: i don't know if it's because i'm getting increasingly anxious about what happens after the baby arrives and/or my pregnancy has been thankfully pretty easy, but i am still enjoying being pregnant and could stay this way if i don't have to deal with meconium (i know, my priorities are out of whack)
Biggest discomfort: swelling and discomfort in left calf after sitting/standing for too long
Excited or nervous: nervous
Big purchases left to buy: we need to install the car seat.
Think you'll go early or late: i think i'll go late, since my mom did with both me and my sister.
Are you worried about having a holiday baby: no, my due date is far enough away that i haven't been worried about this. should i be??

@Jumpingjacks: i'm sorry you are going through this! that is hard, but my c section experience was actually really easy and the recovery was fast, so if you do have to get one...hopefully it will be easy for you!

I guess the mucous plug does mean something! Molly Isabella was born 12/21/2012 at 6:43 pm. I thought I was having contractions and went to l&d and was 4cm so they rushed to do the c section. It went so fast!! Easy and quick and baby girl was out! Great c section experience and we are totally madly in live with Molly!!

EDD: January 12th
Team: Pink
Full term yet?: 37 weeks exactly
Are you over pregnancy?: Oh, so very over it. It seems like every damn thing is an effort. Rolling over at night, getting in and out of the car, walking to the bathroom 50 times a day. All effort filled.
Biggest discomfort: heartburn, lower back and general muscle strain from giganto belly
Excited or nervous: More excited, but a little nervous
Big purchases left to buy: Stroller. Extra car seat base. Disposable supplies like diapers, wipes, etc.
Think you'll go early or late: Not sure. Hoping for a few days early.
Are you worried about having a holiday baby: I'd rather not. If she could wait until January 5th or so, that'd be great. I could work for a few days and wrap some things up, and then be off.

@shoemama: omg!!! Yay for Molly!! Congrats mama! She's adorable and love her hat!
pomegranate / 3643 posts
@shoemama: congrats! She *is* pretty. And that's not something I think often about newborns!
We had our shower. And we bought a bunch of clothes from the consignment store this weekend. So now the pack n play is put together, our bed is moved so we can fit a glider beside it, the stroller is in the hallway, the carseat is here (but needs installed), the clothes are washed, bibs and burp cloths and receiving blankets are stored in the changing table with diapers and wipes, and the hospital bag is packed. I do still need nursing supplies - tanks and bras (though I might do that afterwards?)
I finally feel ready but I know it can still be weeks. How can I keep my sanity until then?? I just feel super anxious and impatient!! It will be so much worse once January actually gets here.
