36 weeks today. Going for my first cervical check this afternoon - curious to see if any progress has started but not looking forward to it at alllll !

@coacheswife123: good luck!!!
I slept so terribly last night. My restless leg syndrome was going crazy, plus it hurt so bad to get in and out of be because my pelvic muscles are so sore. Then at 6 I woke up starving and tried to convince myself to go back to sleep. I decided to go in to work this afternoon instead of am. 2.5 more weeks of work!!! Hopefully baby will be just a bit early...

Who's next? : )
My BFF thought she was going into the labor in the 23rd. Contractions 5 min apart, lasting for a minute, but not painful. It regressed though so no Christmas baby.
I'm so hoping that Dylan can be home by my due date (the 18th). He's just got to learn to take a bottle. He's taken half of one a couple of times, but he has to be able to take all 8 a day before we can go. I'm starting to get really antsy!

@Mrs Green Grass: that would be so exciting if he could come home on the 18th. He looks great!
I have been sleeping terribly (at my parents) plus have had a few middle of the night contractions (semi-crampy, not even menstrual cramps level...) every night since the 3 am on the 24th. I have a couple and then they stop. i have a dr appt tomorrow so we will see what they say. I'm sure it's no big deal.

@Mrs Green Grass: Sounds very encouraging. Hopefully he picks up the bottle quickly and is home for his due date.

@Mrs Green Grass: oh I hope he can come home on your due date !!!
Well my cervix is closed and softening and he is low. I was hoping to be a cm ! Maybe a little progress next time !

@shoemama: Congrats!!
@Mrs Green Grass: Your christmas pics on your blog are so cute, I even had to show DH. Dylan has gotten so big! Hope he picks up on the bottle feeding quickly so you guys can take him home soon.
I had 2 dr appointments today. One was the NST ( we have to have twice a week now) and a regular Dr appointment. Still on meds to stop contractions but i get to stop them on Monday Baby is Very low (+1 station), 85% thinned out and back up a bit to 5 cm dilated. Dr didn't seem to think it will be long before I go into labor again. Today I have been massively uncomfortable with lower back pain and pressure from her head. I know she will be early but our Drs are very happy with all her test results so I am ready to get the show on the road. I just need to buy some smaller clothes cause I was expecting to go full term and have a big 9lb plus baby.
Good luck to everyone else and all their appointments coming up!

@pinkb: sounds like you're next! So exciting!
I'm finally on maternity leave and its so weird to just hang around waiting. I've been so much more hormonal the past few days than I had been for the whole pregnancy. And sleep is such a struggle these days. If one more person suggests that I "sleep now" I might snap.
@Mrs Green Grass: My fingers are crossed for you and Dylan to sleep under the same roof soon.
Hope you ladies had nice holidays!

@pinkb: I know an early bird isn't what you were hoping for but good luck to you!

I had my first cervical check today. It was awful! So painful, and I was crampy for a few hours afterward. Is it like that for everyone??
Dr. felt baby's head, said I was slightly dilated (she said about a fingertip-width?). Didn't say anything about effacement. Honestly, I was so uncomfortable from the check that I hardly heard what she said.
Ready to get this over with!

@allison: I was so uncomfortable too. I physically came off the table when she checked me - I couldn't help it! I was also crampy for several hrs afterwards too not the most fun
honeydew / 7504 posts
@allison: Yes! It was terribly uncomfortable! I have found that my subsequent ones are less uncomfortable/painful, though maybe that's just because I know what to expect and brace myself. I had my 38-week appt tonight - still 1cm and still long, though she said she definitely felt the skull!
Tomorrow is the full moon, so I wonder if any of us will have some progress!
honeydew / 7504 posts
@allison: Oh and yes, usually crampy, and last things I had some spotting. I thought I might have been losing my mucus plug, but I'm pretty sure it was from the cervical check.

I had my appointment today, I'm 38 weeks 5 days. I'm still only 60-70% effaced and no dilation. Ugh. I'm so done.

Husband is sick and I think I might be coming down with his cold. Noooo!

@allison: That's 1 cm...they count by how many fingers they can fit. Gross, huh?!
pineapple / 12793 posts
38w6d and my cervix is closed up tight. :'(
@jedeve: Hope you are feeling better. I can't imagine how uncomfortable a cold would be right now.

@oliviaoblivia: the best part was my mom telling me about a cousin who died because the dad had a cold when they brought her home from the hospital. Awesome. I feel OK today so hopefully I'll skip it! I can't imagine labor ing with a cold. Would your body really do that to itself?
grapefruit / 4235 posts
My SIL just texted me that my nephew has the flu. SO GLAD I got a flu shot - because he is super-lovey and kissy! I can't imagine even having a cold at this point - @jedeve, hope you don't get it!
We are all getting so close! So exciting!
GOLD / grapefruit / 4007 posts
@jedeve: ugh ! I'm finally starting to shake the head cold/sinus issues I've been having for about a week. I'm just so glad it was a cold and not the flu! It was miserable, though. Hope you feel better soon!
@dagret: it is SO exciting! we are about to have some babies on this board- I can't believe it!

@jedeve: My sister had to labor with a cold. She said it was bad. They did give her some oxygen. One good thing was the baby never caught the cold. Crazy thing was she delivered in August.
pear / 1895 posts
@Mrs Green Grass: ohh... Why didn't she just say "1 cm"? Weird. And that is gross.
@kayakgirl73: @oliviaoblivia: that's a bummer about your cervix, girls. Maybe you need to do some hip circles on your birthing ball to move that baby down!
@jedeve: I've been living in a house all week with a SIL that's coughing and sniffling. Been hand-sanitizing like crazy, but I'm going to be very unhappy if I get sick. Hope you feel better!
So I really hope the ladies due in the summer months aren't reading our board! Remember when we were all "OMG, I felt the baby move, this is so awesome!"? Ha... OVER IT.

@allison: I''ll have to blow up my ball and give it a try. Hopefully I don't fall off it in a heap. I remember a head over heels fall off a ball years ago in an exercise class.

@pinkb: i'm glad she has managed to stay put so far--wow you may be next! good luck!
@oliviaoblivia: yay for maternity leave! sleep has not been so fun for me either.
@kayakgirl73: that's a bummer about no dilation yet, but things could change in any given day! your fall off the ball sounds memorable.
@jedeve: hope you feel better and the cold stays away!
i'm getting a much better idea of what a messy eater i am, since after eating anything, i look down and my belly has conveniently caught whatever crumbs and scraps that managed not to make it into my mouth. it's like a buffet bonanza for my dogs.

@edelweiss: HA! Me, too! It's a bit shocking to realize how much of a slob I am!
pomegranate / 3643 posts
@littlebug: @edelweiss: Same, but I did this before I was pregnant too! I also spilled candle wax alll down my dress on Christmas eve.

@edelweiss: I have stains on almost all of my maternity shirts in the same spot from dropping food on my belly.

@edelweiss: oh me too. and I'm always getting my shirt wet from leaning over the sink.

I just google imaged mucus plug. I have no idea why. Haha! Kinda crazy/gross the photos that people put up but at least now I know what to expect! I feel like I'm on high alert now (at 36 weeks) for any and all signs of labor!
On another note, my prenatal massage and pedi are in an hour and I CANT WAIT.
GOLD / grapefruit / 4007 posts
waaaah! the girl who is supposed to do my massage has the flu - they just called and cancelled. Now I have to wait until next Thursday. BOO! I seriously could cry right now! (first world problems!)
pomegranate / 3643 posts
@coacheswife123: that does stink! Is the pedicure still on? I have a nice afternoon of TV and at home pampering planned too!
Just had my 38 week appt. my midwife said she didn't think I looked like I had dropped (boo). No check, but I don't think anything is pointing to this baby coming soon. I am suddenly SO tired though!
GOLD / grapefruit / 4007 posts
@jedeve: I just went ahead and rescheduled it too so I can do them all at once together! I'm thinking of treating myself to a mani this weekend though, just to make myself feel a little better - haha!
I'm with you on being tired. I'm considering cutting my work days from 8-5 to 8-2. I think that if I were able to get home a few hours earlier in the afternoons it would really help. I need to talk to my boss about it, though - blah!
