Just wanted to pop in and delurk. I've been stalking this thread for weeks - I'm due February 3 but hoping I go a bit early! (but just a bit!) I'm soooo uncomfortable and ready.
Anyway congrats @andrea and @jumpingjacks that is awesome!
Jumping into a new, additional due date thread is super intimidating...

@ladyfingers: We're happy to have you join us! Welcome!
I am starting to have serious panic issues about what's going to happen if I go into labor at work. We both work in the city, and take the train to/from - it's about an hour commute, total - drive to the train station, 30 minute train ride, walk to work, drive home. The train we normally take only comes once an hour during the day, so this morning we started going to a different stop that has more lines, so trains stop there more frequently. But how will I know when it's time to call my husband and say, "Ok, I think we need to head home?" I don't want to call at the first sign of contractions, cuz I've been having them now since New Year's Eve. But I also don't want to wait until when we're supposed to call the OB - 5 minutes apart, 1 minute long, for 1 hour. We could drive in to work, but it's a huge PIA and I would like to avoid it, but it may be the best option - if I do end up waiting to call until I'm at 5-1-1, then I know we'll get to the hospital in about 35-45 minutes, whereas even with going to a more-frequented stop, we still may end up with an hour-long commute. What do you guys think? What would you do?

@Andrea: Congrats!
Abigail Eileen was born Dec 31 @ 2:51 am. exactly 36 weeks. 6.4 lbs. 19.5 inches. Everything is great so far! Will add a pic later

@littlebug: i personally wouldn't want to wait on public transportation! are you working until your due date? i might try to stick out this week taking the train and then drive next week. but if you're already having contractions.... maybe start driving in tomorrow? it's only two more days this week!

@pinkb: i was posting at the same time!! congrats mama! i love her name!

@birdofafeather: I'm due on the 10th; planned last day for the 9th. I think that may be what we do - take the train as usual this week and then drive in next week. I think that gives us a fair amount of flexibility.

@pinkb: Congrats! Wow, we're really starting to have lots of babies around here!

@pinkb: I was thinking about you this morning and wondering is she was here! Congratulations!!
@littlebug: as annoying as it may be, I'd probably drive in to work. Not an ideal solution, but I can't imagine being in labor and waiting on a train.

I'm three days from my due date and going nuts. I feel like nothing is happening and it could be weeks more before we meet this little girl.

@oliviaoblivia: I'm going nuts too. I can't tell if I am having BH or if baby is just pushing against my stomach...

@ladyfingers: welcome!
@pinkb: congratulations!!
Ugh I slept horribly last night. Every time I laid on either side, LO kicked the CRAP out of me, and/or I was having super BH contractions (with all the pushing craziness and half-asleep I couldn't really tell like @jedeve) And laying on my left side hurt my knee for some reason. So I slept at a 45 degree incline for a good chunk of the night.

@pinkb: oh congrats !!!! So exciting !
@littlebug: I agree with @birdofafeather. Try not to stress though ! It's gonna work out fine !
@jedeve: I think I have BH all through the night too. My bump is like a rock and it hurts to lay on my side !

@jedeve: Seriously. I remember in the TWW checking for any implantation bleeding/AF every time I went to the bathroom....now I look for the mucus plug.
I'm at home on mat leave now and besides being uncomfortable and enormous, I'm tremendously bored. I figured I'd make some phone calls today and instead of making me feel better, everyone just freaked out that it was time and the baby was coming. Totally not doing that again.

@oliviaoblivia: I told my husband that I spent the first half of the pregnancy checking the toilet paper to make sure I wasn't miscarrying, and now I'm checking it again. Just more hopefully this time!

@ladyfingers: Welcome. Pretty sure I poked my nose in the Feb thread in the beginning as I am close to the Jan/Feb "border" as well. Im due on the 31st so I could go either way too!
@jedeve: It totally is like the TWW, Im like the last one in the Jan thread for due date I think and I am already watching everything like none other! Too funny because its SO TRUE! Haha!
@oliviaoblivia: That made me laugh out loud seriously! HA!!!
honeydew / 7504 posts
@jedeve: OMG, EXACTLY like the 2ww! It's torturous! Checking the TP, and I'm even timing contractions! So annoying!
Had an appointment last night (38w6d) - STILL just 1cm (3rd week in a row), but thinning a bit now. Was really hoping for more progress, but alas...

I've got a doctor's appointment in an hour, so we'll see if I've made any progress. I'm so tired because I can't sleep well at all anymore and it's so hard to work but I want to work until the last possible minute to save leave. Ugh. I'm 39 weeks 4 days. My due date is Monday.
pineapple / 12793 posts
@kayakgirl73: Good luck at your appointment!
So who is having the next baby?! Does anyone have anything interesting going on? Plugs? Show? Water? I got nothing.
I have an appointment at 1 and I'm debating a cervical check. Last week with no progress really got me down, I know I'll be happy if they say "dilated" but if I'm not it might make me nutty.

@pinkb: congratulations! how nice to ring in the new year with your little girl. hope everything is going well and can't wait to see a picture!
@littlebug: i'm in a similar situation regarding the commute. i am debating between driving into work at some point (which, like you, is going to be a huge pain), working from home, or having someone at work drive me home or to the hospital. i'm a little behind you, i think, so thank you for asking this question because it's something i need to make a decision on!
@oliviaoblivia: i have my first cervical check next week and part of me wants to skip it because i feel like it will be disappointing to hear "no dilation".
@kayakgirl73: oh my goodness, so close! let us know how the appointment goes. i have to work until the last minute also to save leave--it makes things feel so up in the air.
@dagret: yeah, sleep has not been so fun. i pulled some muscle in my back doing yoga and not being able to lie on my back is a bummer, because laying on my side aggravates it. also i have been waking up in a sweat most nights. it's highly unpleasant.
grapefruit / 4235 posts
I had my 37 week appt today, and LO's head is way down at my cervix. No internal exam, but the doctor kept saying "you can go at any time now." Not sure what made him say that...we'll see. I keep telling myself he'll come late just so I don't get my hopes up but I was talking to my mom yesterday and all of us came early. (I was super early at 32 weeks, both of my brothers were 5-6 days early.) So we'll see...
@kayakgirl73: you're so close! Hang in there...
@oliviaoblivia: good luck at the appt this afternoon!
@edelweiss: oh, a pulled muscle at this point sounds torturous. you poor thing.

i'm so ready for some of us to start seeing some major progress!
pear / 1599 posts
I hope you ladies start to see some progress soon. I would have been going crazy had I gotten any further in the pregnancy with no changes.
So here are the 2 hospital photos they took, way fancier than what I thought they would be. They turned out nice. They took quite a few pics all with different "props". These are the only 2 we bought, they were the best ones and we plan on doing other milk drunk photos.
And then my personal fav so far with the bow

@pinkb: she is gorgeous!! How are things going so far?
I'm so nervous for my check. I will be devastated to be two days from EDD and not dilated.
pomegranate / 3643 posts
Glad to hear everyone is as miserably uncomfortable as I am. I keep wondering how I will have the energy for labor. I'm guessing adrenaline?
I want to skip my check tomorrow too, but everyone asks about it and then they get all confused when I say I didn't have one. But they don't mean much and I don't want to get my hopes up!
My MW said that she typically induces at 41 weeks. So I'm pretty sure by the 18th at the latest this will be over. So I'm counting down till then, thinking "two more weeks." Hopefully that's not a bad thing and I don't convince myself I have more time to get stuff done than I really do! But at this point I don't know what there is left to do...

@oliviaoblivia: Things are good so far. Abi has a bit of jaundice so we are still trying to work that out. She has another test today to check her levels so hoping they went down from yesterday and we can skip the hospital bili light.
Even though she was so small, I had to have an episiotomy, Dr didnt really say how bad, said it was just a few stitches. But really it hasnt been too bad. The worst part for me is trying to sleep. I am constantly worried about her still breathing, or getting her swaddle blanket up by her face to far. I never thought I would be this nervous about it all, but it hit me on our first night home. But she sleep great and isn't a crier (knock on wood). She is tongue tied and that was causing some feeding problems. So we still have to get that clipped, but since i am not breast-feeding she has learned really quickly how to eat better.

@coacheswife123: I got checked yesterday at 35 weeks, I wasn't planning on being disappointed (or surprised) that I'm closed at this point, but I totally was!! This is why I hate cervical checks! So unnecessary and crazy-making.
@pinkb: So cute! She's beautiful!
grapefruit / 4923 posts
@pinkb: oh she is adorable. just precious. i'm impressed with the quality of the hospital photos! i hope her jaundice gets better, and glad that you were able to figure out that she is tongue tied (instead of suffering through wondering why she couldn't feed well). so so happy for you!

Re: cervical checks -- yeah, I've got an appt tomorrow, and I'm pretty sure I'm going to opt out of the check, if my dr. even suggests one. I really hated it last time, and like everyone else has said, I don't want to be disappointed!
My contractions have backed off a bit. I haven't had any painful ones in several days. So now I'm starting to think that I'll go full-term/late. I think I'm okay with it, though? I mean, I'm so ready for baby to be here, but I'm also enjoying time at home with just me and the husband.
How are everyone's nurseries coming along? Post some pics? We've just about got our "nursery" in our bedroom set up -- just ordered some floating shelves for books, and that should be it! I'll post a pic when we get those up.
honeydew / 7504 posts
@pinkb: She is beautiful, and I can totally see why that last picture is your favorite!
@allison: GREAT idea to post nursery pictures! I just put a few up on my blog, but I'll float some over here, too. We aren't quite done, but close enough! Just waiting on the blanket and bench cushion that my mom is making. We actually have the bench cushion now, but didn't when I took the photos last weekend.

@littlebug: Is that R2D2 a clothes hamper? So cute! I also really like the paper lanterns. And the orange wall -- I'm a big fan of non-pastels in baby rooms (as you will see when I post my pics!). Sweet Ben Gibbard print, too.

Chickened out of the cervical check. Scheduled an ultrasound for next week. Hoping I don't make it.
