@allison: so glad to hear that baby is head down!! yay!
I go back the week of Christmas, too. Then I will be going every week. She'll check my cervix the week of Christmas and every time after that - and I'll get "swabbed"??? Some sort of bacterial thing to see if a certain type of bacteria is present in my body so they can know if I need antibiotics post birth?

@allison: yes! I couldn't remember what it was called for the life of me!

@allison: So glad your babe is head down! I'll be 37 weeks on Saturday, and I still haven't started weekly appointments but I have done the group B strep test. They do things differently in Canada

@pinkb: glad baby is staying put!
I am 37 weeks and started my weekly appointments last week. I had one today and everything is measuring normal, so I go back next Tuesday and then my dr. is on vacation for Christmas week

It sounds like we are all having good weeks!!
I can't wait until I'm 37 weeks so that I don't feel guilty wanting this baby OUT OF MY BODY. (I know I know - 39+ is optimal!) Is anyone 37 yet? I am next Friday.
honeydew / 7504 posts
@allison: Yeah, I held up a tape measure this weekend to measure 18 inches and almost threw up. Ha ha. I can't believe something so big is in there!
@jedeve: YAY! That's wonderful new! I'm sure that makes you feel tons better. Also, I feel the same way about reaching 37 weeks. Every time someone asks me if I'm over being pregnant, I say no, even though I kind of am, because I still want this kid to keep cooking for a little bit. I feel like if I say it out loud, he'll come too soon! Cuz, you know, I totally have a baby that listens and does what he's told. (c;

@littlebug: I do the same thing! I always say "I'm ready to be done" quickly followed up with " but not for a few more weeks!"
I dont know why I feel like it is possible to jinx things in there haha!

@jedeve: yay!
Yes, I am 38 weeks tomorrow! I hope she comes out around 39 weeks. I have one more week left of work and then she can come. I guess I am "ready". But probably not!! Having just one kiddo has gotten pretty easy, but life is about to get really hard again for approx another year. Ack!
pineapple / 12793 posts
@jedeve: I'm 37 tomorrow and in disbelief that I could still have up to five weeks left.
Two of my grandmother's babies came at 44 weeks. Thank god they won't let us go that long!
@Andrea: Are you really a December mama?
honeydew / 7504 posts
@oliviaoblivia: Yeah, my sister was 23 days late! I keep meaning to ask my mom if she came out all wrinkly with dry skin, like they say late babies do. Otherwise, I think they just had her due date WAY off. I'd DIE if I went 23 days!
GOLD / wonderful coffee bean / 18478 posts
@oliviaoblivia: yeah kinda! I am 40 weeks on Dec 29th but my doc had originally calculated EDD 1/2 so I joined the January mamas. I've just stuck to this January thread, as you can see!
44 weeks? What, torture! How did they even push those babies out - they must've been huge?

I'll hit 37 weeks Sunday. As of my appointment yesterday she has stayed head down hooray. I had my Group B swab and my first cervix check. It's still closed tightly but she has moved down a bit. Measurements, BP etc are all good. I go back on the 20th.
pomegranate / 3643 posts
@oliviaoblivia: I'm in total denial that I could go late. Though in reality, I'll ask to be induced at 41 weeks (I think my MW said she would anyway). My EDD based on my LMP is Dec 30th, and then it was changed to Jan 11th based on my first ultrasound early on. (I thought I was 8w2ds along, they said 6w4ds!) So even though I've been measuring more in accordance with the later date, in case the baby really is older than everyone thinks, I don't want to go too long. Having a post-term baby scares me!
My grandmother in law swears her twins were a month late. I think she just must have calculated wrong!

@Andrea: glad you stayed with the january board!
@kayakgirl73: sounds like everything is on track!
@littlebug: whoa, 23 days?? that must have been difficult. my mom was 2 weeks late with both me and my sister, but my sister is convinced that i could go into labor because my husband is almost a foot taller than i am and the baby could be big. i kind of feel like i will be late. who knows.

@shoemama: It's not TMI! I want to know more! Like how do you know / what did it feel like? I've been paranoid about things like this happening.
Also, what do you do, in this case? I guess you can't take baths anymore? Or is that just after your water breaks?
GOLD / grapefruit / 4007 posts
@shoemama: not tmi. I agree with @allison give us some more information!!!!
cherry / 175 posts
@allison: @coacheswife123: @edelweiss: this didnt happen with my son, so I talked to the dr and she said it really doesnt mean much, just that my body is getting ready. I'm 37 weeks now so she said its normal and I can do any normal activities...I think the bath thing is just when your water breaks. It didnt feel like anything I just looked at the toilet and noticed a (gross sorry) big mucousy thing that was had some blood in it.

@shoemama: exciting! I'll be keeping my eyes out for your updates!
GOLD / wonderful coffee bean / 18478 posts
@shoemama: cool, keep us updated!!!
Had a check up today and found out that I am Group B pos so that's a bit of a bummer. I am also 1 cm dilated ... nothing too exciting!

@Andrea: I have my text next week. What happens if you have gbs? I forget what they told us in our birthing class. You have to go to the hospital as soon as labor begins? Is that it? I know you need antibiotics.
GOLD / wonderful coffee bean / 18478 posts
@jedeve: if your water breaks, you have to be at the hospital in an hour to get your first round of antibiotics. Depending on how long you are in labor, you may need additional rounds of it. I am a bit fuzzier on what happens if your water does not break. I guess you just have to call your doc once your contractions get closer together and he'll determine when you should go in because you need to allow enough time to get the antibiotics so you can't labor at home for quite as long as someone who is negative.

Anyone else getting impatient? I know I'm still 4 weeks away...but still...tick tock!
pineapple / 12793 posts
@shoemama: I'm hoping you have some news for us soon!
@jedeve: I have two weeks and six days left and I'm sooooo ready for her to be here already.
The baby kicks used to be cute, but now they really hurt and I kind of wish they would stop. Feeling like a bad mama.
pear / 1895 posts
@oliviaoblivia: I've been feeling that way about the kicks for awhile now, but for some reason now I kind of enjoy them? I think I'm realizing that I don't have too much longer to be pregnant, and I might actually miss it. It seems strange to me, now, to imagine NOT having this baby inside of me 24/7. Seems kind of lonely :(.
pomegranate / 3643 posts
@oliviaoblivia: @allison: Baby sticks its butt against my right rib CONSTANTLY. It hurts! Kicks are cute, but lay off the ribs, baby!
As far as missing being pregnant - I probably will. I have this bladder disorder that I have to be on a really restrictive diet for, can't eat anything acidic. It went into remission last month, which is common in pregnancy, but I thought wouldn't happen to me since it hadn't yet. So now I can eat whatever I want!! Chocolate, oranges, tacos, kiwis, pomegranates, cranberry sauce, cherries, salsa, guacamole, coffee (decaf, granted) - all this stuff that I haven't had in over two years! It's amazing and I'm loving eating what I want without having to worry about every little ingredient. Some people stay in remission while breastfeeding according to my urologist, and I don't think I'll be that lucky, so I'm going to enjoy this while it lasts. I'm trying to remember to eat healthy foods that I can't normally, not just chocolate!
But....I'm still gonna be happy to get this little sucker outside of me.
GOLD / grapefruit / 4007 posts
@jedeve: I'm there! Just so ready to meet him and for him to be here at this point! I can't wait to do things like :sleep on my stomach, bend at the waist, lay on the floor and play with our dog, not have to go to the bathroom every 2 hrs!
I feel so ungrateful by saying I miss those things. I've had such a gentle pregnancy but am still at the point where I'm ready for him to be on the outside ! We are all almost there, ladies!

@coacheswife123: you only have to pee every two hours?! I am so jealous. I go probably every 20 minutes.
cherry / 175 posts
@oliviaoblivia: I'm hoping too, but she's staying put and my bh contractions are getting further and further apart...so the waiting has begun...my c section is dec 31st, so 2 weeks from today for sure
