@madger: Mine is Thursday, so yours sounds so far away. The differences within the month though!! Hopefully the time will fly....and when it gets here.....eeeee!
@Smurfette: Awesome on day date next week! I would love that, we want to see the Bourne movie.
19w tomorrow, 19+1 for anatomy scan. I wish I could have waited until 20w, but am away Tue through Friday next week so it wouldn't have worked. Hopefully everything will work out with this timing and tech can see what they need to and ensure babes is all good. Got a call back this morning that my IPS stuff came back negative so that was great news to get confirmation on.

@IRunForFun: I'm sure you will be fine! I'm just grumpy I have to wait an extra week!

So maybe baby boy for me! We had an appt last night and the NP took a look with the traveling US machine and she thought she maybe saw some boy parts but it was more of a hunch then a for sure thing. Heart rate was in the low 140s. We will know for sure on the 29th
Opinions on Zika and Disney - we booked a 4 day weekend in disney for my daughters 3rd birthday at the end of sept. so far we put $200 deposit down and havent booked flights. I was going to book flights today, pay off the trip and add travel insurance ($180). With the recent mosquito bred cases of Zika in Miami, I'm getting nervous. The NP I saw last night was of the opinion of I shouldnt risk it.

@Chillybear: Yay!! I wouldn't buy any clothes yet but that is exciting.
Honestly I wouldn't go. My OB told me I was ok to go to the gulf of FL as long as there wasn't a local case. But if the Miami stuff happened before I went, I wouldn't have gone, even with being at the top end of the state. Sorry, that sucks, but at least you only lose out $200.

@Chillybear: yay maybe boy! Interesting on Disney and Zika, I am under a rock so to speak on any thoughts there!
Went from hiding bump yesterday at work to wearing a bump hugging dress here today and it's been so funny. I am only here half day and then anatomy scan this aft!!! Off tomorrow too, looking forward to the weekend.

@Chillybear: I'm going to Orlando for work in September. granted, we will be inside a convention center all day long, so I'm not too concerned, but I'd just double check with your OB and wear a ton of bug spray if they say it's okay!
@sunnyday: hope your scan goes well! I can't remember, do you already know gender?
persimmon / 1101 posts
@Chillybear: I think I would go and pack lots of bug spray. I had to travel to Florida near the Orlando area when they were discovering the first cases and I saw surprisingly few mosquitoes during the times I was outside (not saying they aren't there, they are!). If you go, just stay inside during the super muggy times and keep yourself covered and sprayed. Hopefully by September things won't be too bad. Also, a boy--congrats!!!!!!!

@madger: Hilarious morning. Anatomy scan was cancelled. Tech is sick. I am literally away away for work next week Tues to Fri and in interviews all day Monday. Training for my new team that starts the following week, so like.....no availability. Nevermind kids in daycare days, blah blah. Called like 6 places around here, nothing. Finally one got me in for 2 p.m. today after a cancelling. Relief! I was a little upset, not for being cancelled, but just knowing my lack of availability. We do not know sex!! I know some clinics in this area will not disclose sex and just do the anatomy scan things, so I have zero expectations from today, just appreciate they are getting me in for this. I have heard great things, so can't help but be a little hopeful
cherry / 178 posts
@sunnyday: oh that's interesting that they may not tell you! what a crazy morning, I'm glad some place was able to fit you in!!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@sunnyday: Why wouldn't they tell you? What is the reasoning behind that?
kiwi / 573 posts
@Smurfette: Don't quote me, but my interpretation is that it's not the tech's job to relay good news or bad news or results of the anatomy scan. They do the work, and then send to doctor, doctor gives you results! *Most* spots these days know people's hopes and will tell you, but definitely know some haven't and won't, the norm is definitely becoming the tech's tell more, but they definitely don't have to. I am in a Canadian fb Mom group and I saw a couple stories of not being told, so wondering if it's a Canadian healthcare thing as things work a little different here versus US?
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@sunnyday: Maybe it is a CAD thing. I had mine done with the ultrasound tech at my OB's office last time. She looked for gender right away and then as looking over everything said it looked great. We met with the OB after for my normal appointment and she just ok baby's ultrasound looked great. I imagine the same will happen this time. Going to the perinatologist since I am over 35 but they just went over everything at the 13 week one (tech and then the doctor came in). Then they send the results over to my OB, but they didn't even comment on them at this last appointment.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@Chillybear: Ooo! Can't wait for them to confirm! Even though I know from blood test, I'm def going to ask them to double check on at my anatomy scan!
About Zika and FL... In your situation, I *think* I would go, but A) try hard not to be out around dawn/dusk B) suck it up in the heat and wear pants (or at least capris) and maybe a long sleeve breezy top if possible and C) obviously just use lots of bug spray... Ugh, it's so tough! On one hand I would want to go, but on the other hand I'd just want to be safe than sorry you know?!
pomelo / 5509 posts
@Chillybear: I have a lot of health anxiety and knowing that about myself I probably wouldn't travel to FL at all while pregnant, especially if a health professional told me not to risk it. That being said if you feel comfortable with it, that's all that matters. If you do go you could just make sure to stay away from standing water, wear tons of bug spray with DEET, and don't go outside after dusk.

I know some would disagree but i went ahead and bought the airline tickets today. We did add the insurance through disney and with a note from Dr. we'd get a refund on air, hotel and park tickets and we would only be out $155. If the trip was tomorrow, we would absolutely go. If it stays status quo (ie only cases in miami/not orlando) we'll go. Worse case: we get the drs note and we go in a year or so when baby is almost weaned and we leave the baby with my parents.

Made a thread about my u/s yesterday. My 2012 and 2014 babies I definitely didn't have a transvaginal u/s beyond dating scan. And of course I have only had my scheduled u/s at one spot for all kids and they treat me very well and discuss the basics with you as they go. So one yesterday freaked me out, and didn't I get the tech that tells nothing. Nothing except sex which for me I would have rathered "everything looks good" or "measuring on track" versus sex, but anyways.
Will wait for doc appt on 30th to really know how yesterday went so don't feel all that excited about yesterday, unsure how it really went! Two techs for the internal both stood and pointed at something on the screen..... May call my doc today and just ask if when results come in, if I could get a 30 second reassurance to hold me off til appt.
Anyways.....it's a girl! That's all I know and even then she's like "no guarantees, but it looks that way". I realize there's never 100% til in arms, but she definitely didn't want us to walk away feeling positive, lol.

@sunnyday: I am 95% sure I had a transvaginal scan as part of my anatomy scan (it was just standard, I had nothing they needed to double check on). Congrats on a little girl!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@sunnyday: Aww yay! But I am sorry the scan was so nerve wrecking! I agree that the "norm" these days is that the tech would be more talkative and give more information!

So far, five girls and only one boy--will they make a come back??

I was just going to pop in today and ask how everyone is doing!
This whole time I've thought my anatomy scan is tomorrow morning, but it turns out it is Thursday. Darn it!! I'm still worried that the midwife had them schedule it too early (I'll barely be 18 weeks) and I'll get in there and they'll look at the dates and send me home. So we will see. I haven't really definitively felt any more movement and I gained a bunch of weight first tri but haven't gained any in a few weeks so I'm dying to check on things. I did hear the heartbeat Friday when I went in for a check because I was having BH contractions (made a separate post about it, turned out to be dehydration and exhaustion) but I'm still feeling nervous.
I'm thinking of investing in some sort of pregnancy pillow. My belly is just starting to get to the point of feeling a pulling sensation in my back when I sleep on my side. I've been doing a regular pillow between my legs and shoved under my belly but it's not quite long enough.
Oh, I also took my first prenatal yoga class Sunday! It felt amazing, and I'm not usually a yoga person. My hips were sooooo tight and the stretching felt awesome. I highly recommend giving it a try, even at home with a video - and even if you're not a yogi!! I'm signed up for a 6-week series and I hope the studio has more sessions after this one.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@IRunForFun: Maybe you can call and double check? 18w does seem a bit early, but I have no idea!
I really liked using a pregnancy wedge.. I had that and a snoogle as hand me down, but I found the snoogle to be just too giant/weird to maneuver. I mostly used my regular body pillow from Target and then added the wedge towards the end.
pomelo / 5509 posts
@snowjewelz: So tell me if this is terrible. I'm kind of not wanting to check ahead of time because I'm hoping if it IS too early, they won't realize until they start the scan, and then they'll just tell me to come back - but I'll still get a scan. I don't want to eliminate that as a possibility because I REALLY want to see baby. Is that awful and dishonest??
And yeah I'm thinking I just need a body pillow for now. The thickness of a regular pillow is working fine but it's just not long enough for both knees and belly. We only have a full-size bed right now so something as big as a Snoogle is out!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@IRunForFun: Hahaha no that is genius, lol! I guess you either get the scan and it's all good, or it goes that way and you still get a glimpse! I really like my body pillow from Target! Long and wide!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@IRunForFun: I am just using a body pillow, so far. I had a pregnancy pillow last time that I borrowed from a friend, but she 6 weeks behind me, plus I didn't really like it. So far it its working, but I worry when I get huge how it will support the belly. It is so puffy/thick.
I am jealous you haven't gained weight. I almost cried when I saw the scale last week. It is much harder for me this time.
I got a comment at work today. A male co-worker walked by and said "Really, a Diet Coke first thing in the morning. Can't we do better for the baby?" How about you shut your trap? I hate how people think they can say/comment on your body/eating habits just cause you are pregnant. Also, co-workers you don't need to rub my belly!
pomelo / 5509 posts
@Smurfette: I'm sorry you're struggling with the weight gain. The second half of the first tri I was putting on about a pound a week, and then my doctor wanted me to wean off my anxiety medication, and I lost my appetite and have had some bad side effects, so I actually haven't been able to take in enough calories some days. So now I'm kind of worrying on the opposite end of the spectrum. I feel like no matter what, there's something to worry about. I just try and remind myself my body will do what it needs to grow my baby, but it's a hard perspective to keep, for sure.
Also OMG I would have throat-punched that dude. I've been having a Coke (not even diet!) in the mornings because coffee isn't sitting well and I need a little caffeine to avoid a migraine. Ugh. Honestly, no uterus, no opinion. That drives me nuts. My husband has made a few comments about food choices lately, since I'm eating whatever I can tolerate in an attempt to get the calories in (think chicken nuggets and frozen macaroni and cheese and milkshakes.) I'm like dude, when you've experienced pregnancy, you can have a say. Until then, shut it.

@IRunForFun: I am trying to eat more protein and less carbs but I still am eating junk too much. I need to scale it back but the thought of veggies are just still so gross to me. I have always been the one to look at food and gain weight. Plus I am hungry all the time. No matter what I eat. I don't get it.
Luckily my DH hasn't said anything to me. He knows that I am going to be the one to have to lose it after. I just told me jerk coworker, I am well within my caffeine limits for the day and turned away from him. Shame, I always liked him too.
and now I want a milkshake!

@snowjewelz: Does the body pillow from Target have a removable and washable cover?
@Smurfette: Ha! I'm totally craving a Frosty from Wendy's. With fries for dipping!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@IRunForFun: I have one from Target too. I just bought it maybe a month ago. The pillow was $10 and then $10 for two covers that are machine washable.
Oh that sounds so good. I want fries every single day. But trying to limit them to once a week.

@IRunForFun: yep! I rotate 2 covers.
Hahahah I'm AT Wendys right now!

@IRunForFun: I have a snoogle and love it!! I really loved prenatal yoga with my first, and I'm signed up to start again in a couple of weeks. if anything, I'm looking forward to having a little "bonding" time with this baby!

@snowjewelz: i'm jealous of your frosty.... I made jon take me to arbys for curly fries on sunday
Anyone going to do a newborn session with a pro photographer? have you started looking into booking yet? With my date being so close to christmas i feel the need to nail something down soon.
forget the pillows, I made Jon go shopping for a whole new bed. The frame was delivered yesterday and the mattress is coming on friday. We were definitely due the queen mattress we've been sleeping on was a hand me down from my aunt's spare room and we'd been using it for 8 years at this point. We're calling it a joint b-day/anniversary/housewarming gift to ourselves.

@Chillybear: $0.50 frosties today!! ahh curly fries are amazing too!!
Oo a new mattress is a nice treat for your pregnant self
It's prob a good idea to look soon esp with the holidays! We DIY'd DD1's newborn pictures, so we're probably gonna do the same with DD2! But I'd want some with DD1&2 together, so maybe we'll need some help...
pomelo / 5509 posts
@Chillybear: Haha! We are moving soon (just bought our first house) and hoping to get a new bed. DH's parents have a barely used King-sized tempurpedic they want to give us but it's iffy on how tight a squeeze it might be in the new bedroom. We may just end up buying a queen which would still be a big improvement on our full.
pomegranate / 3032 posts
@snowjewelz: At our old house we had a neighbor who just happened to be a pro photographer do Fi's newborn shots and she gave us a very discounted rate as she was just starting her business full time. Now she'd have to travel like an hour to us and her current lifestyle rate is $500. I dont know if she'd knock anything off the price in our case.

Back to lurking.

@Chillybear: now I want Arby's fries. I made DH go get me some gummies last week.
We are going to do newborn pictures. We did a whole baby package (4m, 8m, 12m, 18m) with LO (her newborn was with someone different, who I didn't love). But not this time with two in day care. I have already contacted her, I just need to book and pay the session fee.

Just popping in to update and add another girl to the list! I was kinda hoping for a boy - I thought brothers would be nice to LO but I'm happy either way - now I just have bags of boy clothes with no real home!
@Smurfette: Ugh! "Can't we do better for the baby?" - what a tool, I wasn't aware that WE were doing anything for the baby, weird co-worker. Feel free to glue his telephone receiver to his phone for that.
On another note, anyone still experiencing nausea? I am heading for 20 weeks and still nauseous every day - taking medication but would really like to drop it as it makes me so groggy even though I take it at night.
