January 2017 moms!

    Hi everyone! I had my 20 week appt today! Highlights -

    1. They just couldn't get a good pic of the heart. Baby sister was active but just did not show that side at all the whole time. The tech tried her best, but the dr rejected the pictures. I even got up, walked around, drank water, etc but no luck! Have to go back next week (but not complaining about an extra ultrasound!)

    2. Apparently I have low papp-a level from tests from before. I was worried, but not as much after googling about it? Hopefully she will measure on track (I don't expect a big baby anyway), and that I won't have pre-e! I'm gonna make a separate post about this

    @Smurfette: you look so cute!

    @afishermanswife: mine measured 12oz today too but my bump is like tripled your size

    @snowjewelz: I have no experience or insight on the Papp-A but I hope your doctor gives you a good explanation and it's nothing to worry about! Stubborn girl in the u/s - yay for an extra scan though!

    Does anyone else have good and bad days energy-wise? I had a couple days last week where I just had no energy and was napping whenever I could and just generally blah. Then Friday/Saturday/Sunday I had so much energy and did a ton of productive stuff and was like sweet my energy is back! Today I'm back to no energy. It's taking some getting used to!

    @IRunForFun: Yeah, it waxes and wanes. Some nights after putting DD1 to bed, I can still come down, clean up, and hang out for a while but some nights I'm passed out!

    @snowjewelz: sounds like we both have stubborn ones! No clue about the papp-a, I don't even know what that is.

    @IRunForFun: I basically am tired 24/7. I have no clue how I am going to handle newborn days again.

    @Smurfette: I had no idea when the dr said it either lol!

    @Smurfette: Haha I guess I should clarify. Tired is a relative term. I'm *always* tired but when I say I have "so much energy" I guess I mean I can actually get off the couch and do things rather than just lay there like a lump.

    @IRunForFun: I will say on Sunday I had to go back to bed for like 45 minutes cause I couldn't stay awake. Then I helped my sister unpack boxes at her new house got home and got DH to finally hang up stuff in LOs room. So I guess I did have some energy but when I finally sat down after a late dinner I was done.

    I'm definitely all over the place energy wise. This morning I ran 3 miles and had to stop to walk twice, on Sunday I ran 8 with a friend and zero issues. I'm 17 weeks (and yes, we have a very casual office!)

    @madger: In my book you have a great amount of energy for running any amount of miles, lol!

    @madger: One. I love your very casual office. Two. Running seems IMPOSSIBLE, so you are my hero for doing any bit of running!! I am already planning for next summer, need a goal race, or may try a triathlon!! My usual go-to is an early May race, but I may give myself a little bit more time, but don't want to get into too much heat.

    A friend of mine who lives away challenged me on my fitbit this week, and I really need to tell her, lol. I am okay to get my 10000 steps in usually....but ugh...lol.

    @sunnyday: my "running return" goal is a big 10 mile race here in philly in early may. hopefully I'll feel up to it!

    @madger: Nice!! I am just going for a 10k! That seems to be my max distance I have any interest in/can train/not train as well as I'd like and still do fairly well, lol.

    @madger: I'm also impressed you're still running. I always thought I'd be one of those people who ran throughout pregnancy but I stopped at 6ish weeks when I was exhausted and no amount of high impact sports bras could make me feel like my boobs weren't about to fall off. I tried to start up again around 12 weeks but it just hasn't felt right - round ligament pain, back pain, cramping after. Ugh. I've been running on and off (mainly on) for almost 20 years so I'm hoping it'll come back after baby's born.

    Also, you look adorable. I wish I could pull off overalls! I am so short I'd just look like a giant kid with a pot belly.

  16. madger

    cherry / 178 posts

    @IRunForFun: I'm only 5'2, so you never know, you might be able to make overalls work! I run with a lot of moms and they are all over the map in terms of whether or not they ran during pregnancy at all, a little, or the whole thing, but they all came back post baby!

    Great, got DD's coxsackie Hopefully my immune system is strong enough to fight it off quickly!

    @snowjewelz: Hope you are feeling better! What is coxackie?

    I am definitely feeling some movement, even felt some hard kicks the other day. Yesterday I had what I (and friends I texted) assume as round ligament pain for the first time. I don't remember having any with my first. This was sharp pains that came and went for over two hours. It freaking hurt. Slow your roll baby!

    I can't believe I am halfway done with pregnancy already. It is going so fast!

    @Smurfette: It's pretty much HFM... But DD got the strain that's just her throat. I'm better today; fever finally broke! Let's just hope no one else gets it!

    It is crazy that we're half way through

    Today started off a little slow, but I have my anatomy scan tonight at 7. We can't wait!!

    We had a great weekend - went to a carnival on friday, had a good friends wedding on saturday and celebrated our 6th anniversary yesterday with a delicious brunch.

    @sunnyday: Unhappy Monday, haha!

    Weekend was good... I just find myself easily exhausted from the heat and from running around w/ DD. I love weekends b/c I almost always nap with her!

    Any appointments this week? I am going back tomorrow morning so they can hopefully get a good look at her heart. Please baby girl, cooperate!!

    I asked my OB about the low papp-a thing, she's basically not that concerned but suggested for me to take a baby aspirin daily.

    @Chillybear: exciting! Happy Anniversary.

    We had a great weekend not really doing anything, for once. DH went ahead and primed the nursery walls. He is going to paint this week. The basement is supposed to be done the first week in November, but we all know how contractor timelines works. We figured we might as well while he has the time, so we are moving all the stuff around to do it. I can't wait till just the baby stuff is just left in the room.

    @Chillybear: Happy anniversary!!

    @snowjewelz: I have an appt this week - just the 20 week prenatal, no scan. That's good the OB isn't as worried about the Papp-A!

    @Smurfette: Yay for progress on the nursery! Can't wait till we are moved in and can work on things.

    Had a good weekend but yesterday was stressful. Spent 4 hours in the sun supporting DH in a 30 mile trail race but he ended up hurting his foot and dropping out at mile 27. Had to take him to get an X-ray but luckily no breaks, just soft tissue damage. I was SO wiped and then when I got home my doula client texted me her water broke!! She's having a home birth and actually it's been 18 hours now and she hasn't had contractions yet. She's headed to the midwife shortly but I anticipate being at a birth tonight. Glad I got to rest last night!!

    @IRunForFun: Oo, so exciting! I'm so glad it wasn't back to back with the race! I hope your DH heals soon! I can't believe you were out in the sun for so long!

    @snowjewelz: I have to go on Friday for an ultrasound so they can hopefully see her heart through the back since she wouldn't flip during the anatomy ultrasound. Then Tuesday I have a regular doctor appointment. I am off the normal visit list, but they assure me I will catch up eventually.
    @IRunForFun: I took LO to the park yesterday, I had to sit down in the shade. I can't deal with this heat. I feel bad for your DH, almost made it to the end!

    @Chillybear: Happy Anniversary!!

    @snowjewelz: I am with you on the heat and getting tired so quick, it's so wild because I am usually in the sun as much as possible and love the heat.

    @Smurfette: Basement finished? I am still dreaming about ours being done someday! I think we may look at it seriously in two years when mortgage is up for renewal and we can chuck a loan to do the basement in with that. Not sure if we will do it all at once or part, we are in a bungalow so will double our living space or close to it.

    @IRunForFun: omg poor your DH on the injury and having to drop that close to the end! How is he doing?

    I have a prenantal appt tomorow at 4 p.m., I am 22w Wednesday, eeep! Looking forward to being off Thursday and Friday this week for a 5 day weekend, my oldest starts kindergarten next Tues!

    @Smurfette: @sunnyday: I felt sooo badly for DH too. 😕 But it was also like 90 degrees yesterday and after he dropped out he was vomiting so I think it was kind of good he stopped when he did! He's disappointed but, such is life! His foot is pretty bad...very swollen and bruised. It will take a few weeks to heal I think.

    @sunnyday: 22 weeks already!!! Wow!!!!

    Anyone got more bump photos to share?

  32. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

    @sunnyday: The main reason we are finishing it is because DH needs a home office and we need a guest room. DH thinks the media room/living room is going to be his man cave. Sure honey, if a man cave has kid toys and trampoline (LO has a medium sized one that takes up half the play room so we need it downstairs). And we decorate it together. I am going to let him do what he wants for his office, even though I don't like it. It is going to double our house too, so I can't wait. Although not the increase in cleaning fee.

    @IRunForFun: @Smurfette: Thanks! Last week I really started to "feel" pregnant. I just worry if i'm showing this much now I can only image how big the bump will be in 10 weeks, 15 weeks.....

    @Chillybear: I am worried right there with you. Have you done a comparison photo against your first pregnancy? Friends have all told me they showed way sooner with the 2nd but eventually you even out. Waiting on that!
