    @Chillybear: I think that you look about the same!

    @snowjewelz: @Smurfette: Apparently you two have stubborn little babes hiding their hearts. Hoping for good angles at your follow ups!

    Loving the bump pics, everyone is looking great. Can't wait to watch these bellies grow and see some sweet little ones soon!

    Has anyone had DH feel baby yet? If I have my hand on my tummy I swear I can feel it very lightly on the outside but DH says he doesn't feel it so maybe it's in my head. Between my bump emerging in the last 2 weeks and the movements becoming more regular and notable I am lovvvvving this stage!

    @afishermanswife: i've had a couple good kicks that may have been able to feel from the outside but theyre so few and far between it would be hard to time it right so hubs could feel.... though it skeeves him out to feel the baby move anyway but i cant wait for our daughter to feel them

    @afishermanswife: seriously. They got every other shot of the heart that they needed but this one. LO1 was stubborn on a brain shot so we had to go back.
    I am feeling movement for sure. I feel more her moving then kicking, I have an anterior placenta again. Last time it was around the same time I felt her and then 24 weeks before DH felt her kick. So you aren't imaging it, the baby has to get stronger and bigger for outside to feel them.

    @Smurfette: I for sure showed way earlier! I think it's starting to even out.

    @afishermanswife: Yes! DH can def feel movement; tho more just "waves" rather than a distinct kick.

    @afishermanswife: DH felt the baby move for the first time last night. I have barely even been feeling consistent movement so I was surprised but I'd been feeling movement in the same spot for a minute or so and had him rest his hand there. After a little while baby did something that felt more like a squirm or wriggle than a kick and he felt it. He was like "Did you just move your stomach?" And I said nope. He was kind of in awe! It was cute. There's been movement since but nothing else that can be felt from the outside yet.

    DH and my two kids (!!!) have gotten to feel, distinct kicks each time and watching their faces light up has been sooo neat!! They ask all the time now if baby is moving so they can feel her!

    My DD may also be obsessed with "saving" everything for her little sister, anything that shows any bit of wear/her being done with it/outgrown, it's cute.

    So maybe there is hope! I think he'll feel it this week. My doctor somewhat confirmed my fear of a huge baby last week when I said how shocked I was to have felt movement at 17 weeks she responded with…"well that's because it's so big". Lovely.

    Here's me at 20+5. I should take another pic tonight, the post-dinner growth is really something haha

    @Chillybear: Congrats on the boy!!

    Sorry for the long absence. Vacation and then the work around the apartment. I finally have an update since 14 weeks. I had my 20 week appointment today with the anatomy scan scheduled for Thursday. Sequential scan came back with no issues. I have only gained about 7 lbs and am still surprised. My first was a big boy, however, I was sick so much longer this time.

    I have no bump photos. I never even took them during my first pregnancy. DH has felt the baby occasionally. The movement is sporadic, but when I feel it, it usually l lasts for a while.

    @Chillybear: You look awesome! AND...congratulations on the boy!

    @IRunForFun: Aw, so cool that your husband got to feel the baby! Mine has a bizarre fear of the baby kicking inside the stomach and won't touch. I've never understood!

    @sunnyday: That's adorable. I guess sharing won't be a problem!

    I had my anatomy scan today and baby is still a girl (I was worried!) and everything looks good--big sigh of relief! I'm not 100% sure what I weighed at the start, but I'd guess I'm up about 7 to 10 pounds. My birthday was last weekend and I'm guessing half came from that!

    cherry / 178 posts

    @babypugs: my husband is the exact same way! i think he felt one kick last time and was like, "okay, that was enough for me!"

    congrats to everyone on great scans! my anatomy scan is still EONS away (sept 19), but thankfully we have a busy few weeks with travel and visitors (my daughter and I were just in WI over the weekend visiting family, we have my in laws here this weekend, then I have a work trip, then my husband has a work trip), so hopefully that will make the time fly! I did drop off our daycare registration for new baby today, so at least I can check SOMETHING off of my list!

  18. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

    @babypugs: I was worried too. DH and I said there is a .03% chance the blood test was wrong, we would be the .03%. Luckily she was still a girl

  19. babypugs

    persimmon / 1101 posts

    @madger: Oh yeah, daycare registration! You're on it! I have just been hoping they would notice my belly and add the kid to the list, but, reality check--I'd probably better sign up the baby. Haha.

  20. babypugs

    persimmon / 1101 posts

    @Smurfette: Haha, you never know! I can't believe you still hear about people finding out the gender was wrong during the ultrasound at birth--isn't our technology better than that?!

  21. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

    @madger: @babypugs: I signed up baby girl, only $150 deposit, at 11 weeks after LO told everyone at day care she was having a baby. The director was like we have a wait list till April for infants. Um, what? Luckily since we are already there we get first priority. Which is good since I only get 12 weeks off (6 unpaid).
    @babypugs: I agree! I had them check at the 13 and 19 one. I probably will make them triple check on Friday too.

    My heart hearts reading how soon you go back to work @Smurfette:

    Is anyone staying off longer than what seems to be US norm?

  23. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

    @sunnyday: yeah it sucks. I went to talk to HR last week and she called the other 6 weeks, child bonding. WTF! I wouldn't want to stay home for a year, but I think 6 months would really be ideal. I am lucky at least that we can afford for me to miss work for 6 weeks, I know many people have to go back then.

  24. sunnyday

    kiwi / 573 posts

    @Smurfette: child bonding? lol. Oh my!

    I wish I only did 6 months with my first, I did 11 months and it was too much, I was anxious to get back, but it's so out of norm to cut the time short to pay for daycare. Some split the time with a partner or spouse which is cool too, but doesn't make sense in our situation!

  25. madger

    cherry / 178 posts

    @sunnyday: nope, all I get is 12 weeks

  26. sunnyday

    kiwi / 573 posts

    With the time off you have, are you replaced by a contract replacement usually, or are your duties just divided up between colleagues?

  27. Chillybear

    pomegranate / 3032 posts

    @sunnyday: i'll only take 12 weeks and I'll be out the longest of my coworkers - most have only taken 6-8 weeks and one only took 3 weeks. I'm too specialized to be replaced easily so most of my tasks will fall on other coworkers that can do similar work and some will just have to wait until i return.

  28. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

    @sunnyday: last time, co workers covered me. This time due to timing my boss is getting a temp. But I am sure some stuff will still fall on co workers. We are already short staffed.

  29. madger

    cherry / 178 posts

    @sunnyday: with the type of job I have (I'm a product manager), it's a little too specialized for a temp to cover, so my boss and another few coworkers will help cover my duties

  30. madger

    cherry / 178 posts

    I'm also really lucky in that I will be getting at paid 100% of my salary for part of my leave and 60% for the rest. I know that isn't the norm everywhere!

  31. babypugs

    persimmon / 1101 posts

    @sunnyday: I can take up to 12 weeks--all will be unpaid except for the leave time I've saved. I'm thinking about going back around 10 weeks since I don't have nearly that much leave saved up, depending on how I feel. Either way, sucks! In terms of who will cover my duties--well, some can be absorbed by my department, but I'll just have to take a lot of care to get as much done as possible in advance for a lot of my projects. I'm the only one who currently has the knowledge of how they work, and no way would they hire a temporary replacement.

    @Smurfette: Child bonding?!? WTF??

  32. babypugs

    persimmon / 1101 posts

    @madger: That's amazing!

  33. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

    @madger: @babypugs: I don't know how it is going to work with a temp. I mean they would have to pay them the whole month of December, I would need them here Dec 1 to show them the close process (I'm an accountant), and then I am working till I am in labor. Whatever, I will let my bosses figure it out. But really he has no clue about 90% of what I do. And another co workers last day is Friday, so now I am covering half of his work. They need someone hired ASAP.
    @madger: You are so lucky with that pay coverage. Last time I had to use my 3 weeks of vacation, but then I went back in June and had no time till Jan. Which sucked. Now, we don't get our vacation time Jan 1, we accrue it over the year. So at least now I come back, I will start accruing time and can take vacation (which counts as sick time too).

  34. madger

    cherry / 178 posts

    @Smurfette: my benefits are better with this baby than they were with my first! our company recently changed it's vacation policy (we now have "unlimited" vacation), so that shifted things a bit. With my first, I used 3 weeks of vacation, disability covered 60% for 6 weeks, and the rest was unpaid.

  35. snowjewelz

    wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts

    @Chillybear: Aww, congrats!

    @babypugs: Haha I know, even though I knew from genetic testing that it's a girl, I made sure to double check!

    @madger: I already let our daycare director know that DD1 will be needing more hours/days, and then DD2 will be joining!

    @sunnyday: I sadly only get 12 weeks unpaid also. It's pretty painful to not get paid for 12 weeks too I work for a small company and winter is not as busy, so they just make do without me

  36. snowjewelz

    wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts

    Thank goodness DD2 cooperated today and we were able to get good pictures of her heart!

    And I got a 3D pic of her hiding her face with her hands

    @snowjewelz: Hooray!!

    I feel badly chiming in on the work and leave conversation. I'm basically self-employed as a doula so I'm just going to take 6 months off. Luckily we should be fine on DH's salary. If we need extra $$ I might take on some postpartum doula work. I feel really grateful I'm able to make my own schedule. I'm also a student so I'm going to take a hiatus from classes until next summer.

    @IRunForFun: It's great that you have a lot of flexibility! I think mandatory maternity leave is going to change for NYS in 2018 or something. Even if I don't get to reap the benefits, I would hope that at least when my daughters have children, they won't feel like they're being punished by corperate America!

  39. sunnyday

    kiwi / 573 posts

    @IRunForFun: I feel awful too, makes me check in with myself on how lucky I am for the time and pay while I am off.

    @snowjewelz: yay good pictures! Glad she cooperated.

    Do home daycare's in the US have rules on how many young ones they take? Or do most of you use centres? I am sorry for the questions, the logistics of the leave times is so interesting.

  40. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

    @snowjewelz: glad she behaved this time!
    @IRunForFun: Don't feel bad, that is awesome!
    @sunnyday: Most centers don't take infants till 6 weeks. Then it is up to the state limits. I believe my state is a 6:1 ratio but most centers are 4:1 for the infant room (up to 12 months). Then it increases as the ages go up.
