@snowjewelz: It's definitely still tender, but maybe slightly better?

@sunnyday: Aww! I haven't really done much skin to skin either since it's winter... So sweet!

@snowjewelz: our bedroom faces south and the room gets super warm in the day. We were hot!! I had a little nap too, but yah....the snuggles were awesome. Finally warming up from -10 foolishness and colder with wind to freezing mark today. Maybe the zoo this weekend and/or maple syrup festival!

@IRunForFun: Mine stayed tender for about a day after the clog released. Hope you got the clog out already.

@sunnyday: OMG, maple syrup festival sounds awesome. We live in a town with a huge St. Pat's festival, don't think I'm brave enough to brave that but we're going to try to at least make the parade!
Just did bedtime solo for the first time. I am terrible at it! Kudos to you mamas who do it regularly!

My boob feels better today, yay! Still a bit tender, but much improved.
My mom is watching DD for a couple hours today so DH and I can go out to lunch.
@babypugs: I have no idea how you guys with 2 do it, solo or not! I bow down to you!

@babypugs: you find a groove after so many times. But it is exhausting
@IRunForFun: glad it feels better. Enjoy lunch!

Totally jinxed myself with giving advice on a clogged duct. I swear if I even think of them I get one!!

@babypugs: I don't usually do bedtime but for naps I put the baby in the swing while I get my 2.5 year old ready.

@Peasinapod: Oh no!! I'm so sorry, what a pain, literally. I hope you can relieve it quickly. For what it's worth tons of massage, pumping, and moist heat seemed to clear mine and I tried the electric toothbrush too! Not sure what ultimately worked but worth a shot if it's stubborn!

@sunnyday: glad skin to skin helped.
@Peasinapod: oh no, hope you feel better soon, clogged ducts are a PITA
@IRunForFun: we'll stick to condoms for now too. Although I am somewhat considering a copper IUD, the IUD itself isn't expensive it's just the placement that's around 200 bucks. So maybe I will try it and see how I take to it.
Nursing in public was always easy for me but I think we Europeans aren't as timid in that regard.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Pumuckl: my IUD was 100% paid for by insurance which was awesome.
My problem with nursing in public is she is so small, I need a pillow to get her high enough, then I have to hold my boob for her to get and keep a latch. I have yet to figure out how to do it witthout exposing myself to everyone.
kiwi / 573 posts
@IRunForFun: yay better boob!!
@babypugs: I've only done solo bedtime twice, it did go well both times, but it's very touch and go/could go downhill in a hurry, lol.
@Peasinapod: ohhh no! Hope it resolves quick.
We did the zoo today. It started snowing pretty heavily, wet gross in your face snow, so it wasn't a whole lot of fun, but still good to get out and do something. My oldest is FULL of sass lately, I love her home, but I think back to normal after March Break will be good for her on Monday! Wore B at the zoo, but then took her out for the pavilions. She was too cute watched the fish in a few aquariums!

@Pumuckl: I didn't know paying for the IUD and then the cost for insertion were separate! Interesting! I know my two (Mirena first, copper second) were both covered, lol and all the surgery (two), X-rays (two), ultrasounds (three!) to find the Mirena, bleh!!

@Smurfette: I think I'd run into the same issue trying to nurse in public. I haven't tried without a pillow yet.
pomegranate / 3601 posts
@sunnyday: oh wow, that sounds awful!
@Smurfette: @sunnyday: it is separate over here. Birth control isn't covered under insurance here. Everything else is covered by our public healthcare incl. 18w of paid maternity leave (6w before EDD and 12w after birth (for multiles)) plus over a year of paid parental leave, so I take paying for my own birthcontrol
I never used a pillow with my first two so I am okay without. I must admit that I mainly nursed on the go once they were more efficient nursers. That wasn't long with J though since she was fast from beginning. The twins are slowly getting more efficient so so far when we're out with them we bring pumped milk. It also makes it possible to parallel feed them.

DD is 2 months old today, and she celebrated by sleeping a 4 hour 45 minute stretch last night, after which she nursed for 10 mins and then rolled over and settled herself back to sleep for another 2 hours! Unfortunately I woke up 3 hours 45 mins into her first stretch to pee and couldn't go back to sleep because I was convinced she'd wake to eat any minute. Why does that always happen???
pomelo / 5509 posts
@Pumuckl: I can't remember, where are you located? Somewhere in Europe?
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@IRunForFun: woot! That's awesome! Any luck getting her to sleep by herself?
We tried a bottle of formula Friday mid evening. She took it great but then Sat her poop was really mucous DH said well the pedi said she isn't concerned about mucous if she is ok otherwise. But my concern is after more bottles we would start to see blood. DH thinks we need to try more and see how she does. I think we need to stick to dairy free formula. She also had mucus early last week after we had a Chinese food. So I guess soy makes her react too. When I do pump I'm not even getting 3ozs now so I am going to have to supplement starting next week. I am feeding often and longer, eating latactation cookies to try and boost my supply. But really I am just over it, but I feel stuck because of the cost of the dairy free formula.
pomelo / 5509 posts
@Smurfette: No. I tried her in the cosleeper on the bed last night and she didn't sleep at all in it. I kept her there for a bit and tried to let her settle but she cried so much the little sheet was soaked under her head.
Ugh yeah dairy free formula is so pricy. Any way you can see if the pedi can give you a bunch of samples?? Those could last a while if you're just supplementing here and there.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@IRunForFun: poor girl! Have you tried the crib at all? Putting down a shirt that you have worn so it smells like you?
The pedi gave us three samples on Wed. One is dairy free. I imagine I could go by and get more if it works.
pomelo / 5509 posts
@Smurfette: We haven't tried the crib yet, I'm still paranoid about her being in another room. I should just bite the bullet and do it. I need to have DH set up the video monitor.
I'd definitely ask the ped for as many samples as they can give!

Clogged duct has cleared! Thanks for the good wishes everyone .
@IRunForFun: awesome sleep time!
I ended up buying the arms up swaddle because S hated her arms pinned down so much. So far it seems to be going over well. It's funny though she moves all around the pack n play in it when she's waking up or falling asleep.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Peasinapod: mine has rubbed a bald spot in the back of her head cause she moves her head side to side while falling asleep. Babies!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@IRunForFun: it is worth a shot. She will be fine in the other room.
persimmon / 1101 posts
@IRunForFun: Awesome stretches! My DD1 never slept in the in-bed co-sleeper. It was in my arms or nothing for her. I just practiced safe co- sleeping and eventually felt okay with it.
@Smurfette: Poor baby, so sensitive! I hope you find something that works.
@Peasinapod: Never heard of that! Can you link to it? My LO is over being pinned down but needs it!
pomelo / 5509 posts
@Peasinapod: Oh good, glad it didn't last long!! I was thinking of trying that swaddle, DD'sissue when swaddled is she tries to use her legs to break out and ends up waking herself up by lifting them up and slamming them down. I joke she needs her legs bound, not her arms!
@babypugs: Was it hard to transition LO1 to a crib eventually?
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Peasinapod: we were using those but she kept waking up cause of her hands.
@IRunForFun: have you tried the halo swaddle sleep sack? She didn't like swaddle mes, then we went to love to dream, and halo is working g better. Her feet have plenty of room. I like them too cause when we took LO1's arms out she still got the tightness on her chest. Then we loosen it a little every couple days. Then moved to sleep sack.
I just went to Target and bought formula. The pedi sample has soy still. Going to try it for two weeks and see how it goes.
clementine / 770 posts
@babypugs: she does look pretty adorable in it!
@Smurfette: I started at 8 weeks so not sure if she'd have liked it earlier. But she really hated her arms constricted she'd actually spit up from the effort she was putting in to free herself when she first woke up when swaddled.

Anyone else having problems the second half of the night? I can get a pretty reliable 2 or 3 hour stretch for the first part, but after that she's up every twenty to forty minutes the rest of the (so long!) night. Usually not enough time for me to fall back asleep. I can't convince her that she likes cosleeping either. I think the sleep deprivation is finally wearing on me!
persimmon / 1101 posts
@IRunForFun: Yes, it was tough! LO1 was an unusually bad sleeper though. We finally did Ferber at 8 months.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@babypugs: it depends on the night. Sat night it was like that but last night we had one wake up and she went back to bed no issues.
LO fought the bottle this morning. She drank 2ozs finally and I got her to take another one cause I swaddled her and she was half asleep.
pomelo / 5509 posts
@babypugs: Not as bad as what you're describing, but I usually get 3ish hours followed by 2ish hours, and then she wakes more frequently, anywhere from 45 to 90 minutes till morning. It's frustrating and I can't figure out why.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@IRunForFun: Yay!!
@Peasinapod: I just put her in the arms up one too b/c I had to wash the 1st stage one (plus it's getting small). She def woke more often cuz she's try to gnaw on her hands but didn't like the taste of the cloth haha
@Smurfette: She fought bottles all last week, only drank 3 oz once in 3 days. Rest are 1 or 2 oz bottles. Then she acted like she starved when I got home! Hoping this week goes better!
persimmon / 1101 posts
@Smurfette: @IRunForFun: Gah, so frustrating, right?! Even more so since I tried to do all the "right" things this time to get a good sleeper!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@babypugs: I thought I'd try to do more "right" things this time, but laziness/sleep still win haha.
