@Sams Mom: I shopped bra less this morning. And let me tell you, I do NOT have the boob figure to go without a bra.. but eh. Lucky it's winter here so layers

@jaguar: that is the one and only time I can go braless 😂... But it's a heat index of 102°F (nearly 39°C) and there is no layers happening here.

@Sams Mom: I personally found seven weeks miserable... For me, being 41 weeks pregnant was way better than being 7 weeks pregnant. DH couldn't believe it, he was like - but you LOOK so much more uncomfortable now (and I was really uncomfortable, but 7 weeks was way worse!)

@Sams Mom: Don't worry, I'll be a WHALE by our summertime when we're all due.... at least you'll be snuggly in winter!

@periwinklebee: I much prefer third tri to first!!!

@jaguar: Between the nausea/exhaustion and not even knowing most of the time if the baby is still alive, I found first tri to be super miserable. I'm sure it's a personal preference, but I'd also greatly prefer being super physically uncomfortable to the never-ending nausea and puking.

I've never been super pregnant in the summer. I like having a winter baby, but my concern this time around is the toddler spreading flu season germs to the newborn. Last year we all had the flu shot but still all got the flu (DS had a 105 fever and an allergic reaction to tamiflu on his first birthday)

I’m with you ladies. I think first trimester is the absolute worst. On top of feeling like crap, you are also worried about every little thing.

@Sams Mom: 7 weeks was when my indigestion was at an all time high. I hope yours gets better.

I’m 14 weeks today and have actually had a bit more energy the past few days. FX my 2nd trimester is as good as my first pregnancy’s!

Are any of y’all super thirsty? I’m always and have super dry mouth, all the time!

@periwinklebee: my DS was a summer baby and our first, so I didn’t worry about germs at all. I didn’t even think about the flu! That’s awful you all got it last season

@Jessiemuller88: DS was a January baby but it wasn't so bad because we could just seclude ourselves and he stayed really healthy. But since he started daycare he has been super prone to respiratory infections and has been home sick a lot. Really hoping his immune system is strengthened this year and he's not bringing quite so many germs into the house... I'm probably going to be a nervous wreck over it...

@periwinklebee: I had two winter/Dec babies! DD2 was okay through flu season when she was born I'm def nervous for #3 because now it's 2x the germs being brought home!

@graceandjoy: 😑 fingers crossed for a healthy winter for both of your girls!!!

@periwinklebee: We've actually had a worse time this summer than the last few winters! Summer viruses have been way more brutal in our home.

    clementine / 973 posts

@periwinklebee: my DS was the same his first year in daycare, but I have to say year 2 was SO much better. He only got sick once. Catching all those viruses the first year really does strengthen their immune system a ton. I’m hoping your DS will stay well this year!

Oh, I hate the first trimester so so much. Give me the third trimester and worrying about when labor will start annnnnnyyy day of the week!

This will be my third winter baby. I'm not super worried about germs; I get a "maternity leave" break from preschool and my husband will be off work for most of the winter (yay paid parental leave!). We will all get our flu shots in September. Summer tends to be worse for us in terms of illness!

My son is an early April baby and hasn't been in daycare since he was 9 months old (fired for being too needy), and is home with a baby sitter... But I'm still concerned about all the germs. Thank God I work in a surgeon's office though, we don't get so much of the contagious stuff like a PCPs office or whatever.

    pomegranate / 3764 posts

@periwinklebee: I hear you.. I feel exactly the same! We are in the middle of a SHOCKING flu season here right now (we all had shots but have still been sick loads).. maybe it just means hibernating when baby is born for a bit. Meanwhile, our Summers in Australia just get hotter and hotter (but hey, there's no such thing as climate change right? sigh) and so we'll all be hiding in the air con!

@Jessiemuller88: just wanted to reassure that I was also sooo tired with my twins that I would regularly just fall asleep wherever. My husband was really good about letting me take the power nap and just dealt with he other two for the 15-30 minutes.

  17. Jessiemuller88

    clementine / 973 posts

@Pumuckl: thank you! This is reassuring! Did your energy come back in the 2nd trimester? I’m just so worried about starting work next month. I don’t know how I’m going to make it.

  18. periwinklebee

    grapefruit / 4466 posts

@jaguar: It's been highs above 100 here (not sure what that is in C, something like 40...) I tried taking DS out for awhile this morning at 7 before it got too hot but still started feeling like crap/super pukey pretty quickly. And there's something wrong with the AC zone that cools our bedroom, super hot in there, which has led to DS waking up super early the past couple of days (but at least we have AC, unlike in our last place). But I should be glad at least I'm not all that pregnant yet!

  19. jaguar

    pomegranate / 3764 posts

@periwinklebee: Man, the heat is the worst. I feel for you!

So I'm starting to feel paranoid that I'm not super obviously looking pregnant yet - I'm just about 16 weeks and the ladies at daycare drop off were like BUT WHERE IS YOUR BELLY? And then had a conversation about how they had #3 they popped immediately, and asked where I was hiding her... eek. Should I be worried?

  20. Pumuckl

    pomegranate / 3601 posts

@Jessiemuller88: It did get better, while I was more exhausted with that pregnancy in general I am not sure if part of that was due to the fact that it was pregnancy #3 in less than 4 years (my kids are 04/2013, 01/2015 and 2x 01/2017). Also I was just less agile/mobile because my twin son (I have B/G twins too) was traverse for a long time to I had trouble bending over from rather early on.

@jaguar: I'm only 13+5, but I also have no belly at all yet, and this is #3 for me as well. A couple of my tightest pants I'm using the hair tie around the button trick, but most of my clothes fit just fine still, I'm just a little bloated. I think I could easily hide it for another month or two if I needed to. I'm in a facebook mom group for January due dates and a lot of the 2nd and 3rd time moms have legit bellies now too. I'm not too nervous because I'm feeling movement already, so feeling the baby every once in a while give me reassurance!

  22. graceandjoy

    pear / 1565 posts

@jaguar: Don't be worried! I was looking 6 months pregnant back at like 6-8 weeks, but now by 10 weeks I'm suddenly not showing as much, and this is my 3rd as well and my belly is nice and stretchy already lol

  23. periwinklebee

    grapefruit / 4466 posts

@jaguar: I don't think they even measure before close to third tri (at least my practice doesn't) because it's not very informative before then. Baby is still so small! In most outfits I don't look obviously pregnant either, just pudgy.

With DS, I actually did measure small in third tri. Turned out to just be his position...

  24. graceandjoy

    pear / 1565 posts

@periwinklebee: Ugh I agree the stage of just looking extra fat/pudgy is the worst. One of my fav things being pregnant is I don't have to suck anything in or try to hide my stomach/muffin top haha! So pregnancy is actually when I love wear the more form fitting dresses.

  25. helloperidot

    cherry / 236 posts

@graceandjoy: samesies! I've been trying to work up the nerve to try a bodycon dress. I feel like pregnancy is the only time I'll get away with it, because otherwise I just look like a weeble. 😂

@jaguar: try not to worry overmuch. Every pregnancy is different. I found out this morning that I've actually lost weight and I'm trying really really hard not to freak out. I'm definitely still pregnant, but weight loss in pregnancy is very new to me. 😟

  26. periwinklebee

    grapefruit / 4466 posts

@graceandjoy: I only look pregnant when I wear a tightly fitting shirt that moulds to the bottom of my bump. But for work I mostly have looser fitting dresses, and definitely just look like I need to work on the flab in my mid-section But I know soon enough I will look very obviously pregnant and everyone and their uncle will have some random comment to make about it, so might as well appreciate that it is at least socially inappropriate to comment that someone looks pudgy (whereas commenting on a pregnant woman's body seems to be a free-for all )

  27. Jessiemuller88

    clementine / 973 posts

@Pumuckl: wow! That’s so neat your kiddos are all so close in age, but I’m sure you were absolutely exhausted. Thanks for giving me a little hope though, I’ve been miserable the past few days.

@jaguar: I wouldn’t worry too much about your bump size. Mine still fluctuates all the time, and like @periwinklebee: said, mine is only super noticeable with tightly fitting shirts too.

  28. jaguar

    pomegranate / 3764 posts

Yeah, I think it's just skin tight stuff that shows at this point.. but it still looks more like pudge than belly. I've gained a few kilos over the last 4 months so I know I'm growing, but man, the comments were getting to me the other day!!!

  29. periwinklebee

    grapefruit / 4466 posts

@jaguar: I got so sick of the comments by the end of last pregnancy - I was big, I was way too small, I was carrying high, I was carrying low... I swear everyone had them... family, colleagues, the random hedge fund guy at friend's party, some old lady at the OB... I distinctly remember the latter woman remarking that I was enormous and looked like baby would come any day when I was there precisely to have a scan because I was measuring too small 😆 People just can't help themselves, and most people have no idea what someone "should" look like (if there was such a thing) at a given point.

  30. graceandjoy

    pear / 1565 posts

Ugh the comments! Not looking forward to that part!

I almost don't want to announce till I know gender so people won't say if I'm hoping for a boy!

  31. Sams Mom

    grapefruit / 4492 posts

I apparently have a serious case of RBF because I never once in my last pregnancy received commentary from anyone outside my immediate family or any unsolicited belly touching.

And now I'm scared I've jinxed myself.

  32. periwinklebee

    grapefruit / 4466 posts

    @graceandjoy: Good call, ugh...

@Sams Mom: Thank goodness i didn't have any issues with touching. But the comments, insane!

Ha.... I just look permanently exhausted lately.

I FINALLY see my OB today. Been a long 4 weeks between appointments! I hope baby is ok in there!

@jaguar: how exciting! Let us know how your appointment goes!

  35. Jessiemuller88

How is everyone doing? I’ve been feeling horrible the last 3 days. My stomach has been killing me, and I have zero energy... I’m so confused. I though you were supposed to feel better in the 2nd trimester 😩

My DS has been so sweet the past week. He has been asking about the babies and wanting to pat and kiss my belly. It’s the cutest thing. I think it’s more real to him now that my bump is more obvious. Anyone else’s LO’s super interested in the new baby? This pic of him was too cute to not share!

  36. periwinklebee

    grapefruit / 4466 posts

@Jessiemuller88: awww, so sweet.... I'm sorry you've been feeling lousy. I think the worst part of the pregnancy for me so far was the first few weeks of second tri... I'm nearly 18 weeks now and still don't feel great, but definitely an improvement over how I felt on average a couple of weeks ago. I hope things turn for you soon. It kind of blows my mind how much energy it takes to grow another human, and for you it must be twice as much!

My LO is definitely too young to understand; I'm not even sure he understands the concept of what a baby is. He's the second youngest kid in his daycare, so has never really been exposed to anyone more than a few months younger. He hasn't really taken an interest in my belly yet, but probably will once it's bigger...

@jaguar: How did your appointment go?

Anyone else have crazy cravings. I swear they are more intense this pregnancy than in the past. Anything savory makes me feel gaggy whereas I DESPERATELY WANT all the sugar. I get the most random cravings for junk food I haven't had since I was a kid. I know if I actually bought it, it would taste gross and make me feel gross, but somehow I still want it. So weird....

  37. Jessiemuller88

    clementine / 973 posts

@periwinklebee: my cravings are really crazy too! One minute I want sour gummy worms and the next I want queso and chips 😂 I have also craved carrots a few times... weird

16 weeks! Upside down bebe says HI!

  39. jaguar

    pomegranate / 3764 posts

@Jessiemuller88: Oh my heart. He is divine! So very sweet.

@periwinklebee: Appointment went really well! All looking good. Baby on track, wiggling around and flipping like a worm, my BP is good.. so just tracking away for a few more weeks until we do the big morphology scan. That one always makes me nervous for some reason!

  40. periwinklebee

    grapefruit / 4466 posts

@Jessiemuller88: Pregnancy is so weird! Hah hah, I wish I would crave veggies. My veggie consumption has been fairly pathetic....

@jaguar: Yay for a good appointment! The anatomy scan definitely makes me nervous. Mine is in about a week and a half, trying not to think about it til then... I have a major work trip between now and then, which is a good distraction.
