@jaguar: hi baby!!! I’m so happy your appointment went great! My anatomy scan is my next appointment also. It is so nerve wracking, but kind of awesome at the same time! I love seeing all the organs and bones! So neat!

@Jessiemuller88: So sweet! I kinda missed out last pregnancy b/c DD1 was only 16 months when I got pregnant so she wasn't super aware/interested. This time around, the girls are 4.5 and 2.5 and they say hi to the baby everyday, kiss/pat my tummy and it's been magical!
@periwinklebee: Yes, this 3rd pregnancy has been the most insane. Like I vividly think about random food I haven't eaten in ages and I want it NOW haha. I'd say my food aversions have been worse too.
@jaguar: So cute!!

@periwinklebee: a work trip? How exciting! Do you get to go some place fun?

@graceandjoy: it really is magical and so, so sweet! Your girls are at a perfect age to be really excited for a new sibling!

@Jessiemuller88: how many weeks were you when they confirmed twins? 8 week ultrasound tomorrow and anxious to see how much Sam knows
grapefruit / 4466 posts
@graceandjoy: Yes like NOW.
@Jessiemuller88: I'm going to Tokyo - which in theory should be awesome but I don't want to leave DS any longer than necessary so I'll only be there two days and mostly working... But there are a couple of sightseeing-ish things built in, which should be really fun if I'm not falling asleep given the 12 hour time difference! Hah, I wish I had time for a spa weekend there (acupuncture, which I haven't done since LO was born anyways, is so much better than in the U.S.) but really hate being away from DS when he's still so little...

@Sams Mom: yayyyy! It’s finally here! I was 7w4days. I’m so excited to see if there are two in there!
@periwinklebee: Tokyo sounds amazing, but I understand not wanting to be away from your son. I went on a work trip to NYC for 5 days in December, and I was miserable missing my boy! Well I hope you enjoy the few days you have there!
I need you ladies to put my anxious mind at ease. I have used my Sonoline B once or twice a week since I got it, and I’m pretty good at finding HB now. Today I went to the Women’s Breast Center to have a check up on a tumor I have. I joked about using the ultrasound to check the babies, and to my surprise the doctor actually tried to find them for me! She tried like 5 minutes then said their equipment wasn’t strong enough. She poked around pretty hard.
After I left, I googled effects of ultrasound probing and found all kinds of crap about how harmful ultrasounds can be and that you should never use an at home Doppler because of the dangers of the sound waves and heating of tissue now I’m freaking out I’ve been harming my little peanuts!
grapefruit / 4492 posts
@Jessiemuller88: well, I had 13 ultrasounds and fairly regular Doppler use with my son and he turned out fine.
I would suspect that the ultrasound at the breast center isn't the same type/power of the ones they use for over the stomach, just because it's different depths and mediums it's going through. (Admittedly I'm using my knowledge of transducers on fish finders for carries water depths and types, and imaging to come to this conclusion )
All in all, I'm sure babies are ok

@Sams Mom: thank you for your input! How did you get 13 ultrasounds?! My doctor is so stingy with them, lol. I’m sure all is well, I’m just a worrier at times. I do think I’ll shelf the Doppler for a while though.

@Jessiemuller88: I had a dating scan, my anatomy scan, then a non stress test/BPP every week for the last 11 weeks of my pregnancy due to polyhydraminos, placenta previa, subchorionic cyst on same spinal column/brainstem area, large for gestational age, all sorts of things
grapefruit / 4492 posts
@Jessiemuller88: it was kind of scary, but I couldn't do anything to change any of it. I found out later how stressed my husband was about it vs me. Like there is no meds or bed rest or diet changes or anything that can fix it... So 🤷♀️

@Sams Mom: well I’m so glad it all turned out good for y’all. It’s crazy how men can hide their emotions so well. I’m sure if he had let you know he was worried and stressed, it would have made you more! I’m so excited for your appointment tomorrow and can’t wait for an update.

@graceandjoy: It's so lovely having the other kids involved with the new bebe isn't it?
@Sams Mom: Eeeeek ultrasound... exciting!!!
@periwinklebee: Tokyo sounds amazing but a LONG trip for a short time! You'll be snoring the whole way and back, I reckon xx
@Jessiemuller88: Oh hun, I'm sure they're fine. I use my doppler (for sanity) WAY more than most people do, because the alternative is me convincing myself that there is no heartbeat again.
grapefruit / 4466 posts
@jaguar: Yeah, this is not going to help the never-ending exhaustion
@Jessiemuller88: I wouldn't worry, I'm sure for it to be bad (if it is at all), you have to be doing it for hours a day, or something like that... 1-2 a week is pretty minimal...
clementine / 973 posts
@jaguar: @periwinklebee: thank you ladies. I’m sure y’all are right. I HAVE to stop googling!
clementine / 973 posts
@Sams Mom: yay for a healthy baby! Did you get to hear heartbeat?
grapefruit / 4492 posts
@MamaBear87: me too! Unfortunately I had to talk to financial services before I had my blood pressure taken . The ding dong told me I am pre paying for services (prenatal, delivery, and post natal services)... Which I get, but then said I will have to pay my 2019 and 2020 deductible before insurance starts covering.... Umm I'm pre paying for a service billed in 2020, that is the only deductible associated with this pregnancy.
nectarine / 2288 posts
@Sams Mom: my birth was globally billed so all happened technically in 2019 so I would think yours would be the same. Only extras I had to pay for were the ultrasounds that happened in 2018. Hopefully it gets figured out!
clementine / 973 posts
@Sams Mom: look at the little nugget! Doesn’t it feel so much more real now? I’m so happy for you, and I hope the insurance crap gets figured out soon!
grapefruit / 4492 posts
@MamaBear87: they did say it's globally billed, so no individual appointment bills. I just know it should be one deductible or the other...
But otherwise a great appointment.

You guyyyyyyysssss!!!!!
I don't know how I convinced him, but DH agreed to splurging on an epic family trip this year, and so we just booked 10 days/9 nights in...Maui!!!!!
I'm so beyond excited. Neither of us have ever been to Hawaii. We have so much to celebrate-- DH is turning 40, DD1 is starting PreK, DD2 is growing so great (and, no lie, still flies for free ), and I'm baking DD3.
I haven't traveled outside of the PNW since our honeymoon 6 years ago and I am STOKED.
But I also have no idea what to pack.
This mama's finally getting a babymoon, y'all!

@helloperidot: I’m so excited for you!! What an amazing trip! I have never been to Hawaii, but one of my best friend’s is Navy and currently lives there! Y’all are going to have such a fun time!

@helloperidot: Aaah that sounds absolutely WONDERFUL! Congratulations on a bebemoon!
grapefruit / 4466 posts
@helloperidot: That sounds amazing! So jealous... I would love to have a relaxing trip with DH and DS before the baby comes, but I think the best we could do is like a short weekend trip to somewhere within a couple of hours. And not even sure we'll swing that,
Anyone else feeling rather large already? I think I've definitely popped, but the bump is not that round yet, just sticks out and makes me feel huge...
Being pregnant does not help with adjusting to a 13 hour jet lag. Sleep has not happened, really hope my toddler sleeps well so I can catch up when I get back.
grapefruit / 4492 posts
@periwinklebee: I'm weeks behind you guys so I'm still just rocking the "blump". Even if I stand up straight and suck it in a bit I still have pooch.
I'm also a little terrified that the fact I was measuring 44 weeks at my 39 week c section due to extra fluid that I'll get huge fast, because I'm already stretched out.
grapefruit / 4466 posts
@jaguar: @Sams Mom: The doctor told me at my last appointment to expect to feel bigger faster this time around and I think it's definitely true. I feel like in the past week I've gone from being able to hide it if I wanted to wear an outfit that just made me look chubby to feeling like a large all over pregnant woman
DS was born at 41+ weeks at seven and a half pounds, so thankfully not huge at all. But I've heard second + babies tend to be substantially larger, so we'll see! I've also been horrible about exercising this pregnancy, which can't help with the hugeness...
grapefruit / 4492 posts
@periwinklebee: my son was 9 lbs 8 oz . At my appointment last week my doctor told me 3 things will make this one harder. 1) I'm already a mom so I have work AND a child on top of being pregnant 2) I'm older (and made sure to include it's physically impossible to be younger
) 3) my body has done this, so it's like hey, let's do this and gets bigger earlier.
grapefruit / 4466 posts
@Sams Mom: hah, yeah, sadly I think it's true. MS was bad enough last time around, but this time was borderline HG with quite a bit of weight loss. Finally at 18 weeks + am starting to feel less pukey. And the exhaustion with a toddler is crazy. In awe of the people who are doing this for the third (or more!) kid!
pomegranate / 3764 posts
My girls were both huge. Claire was 4.1kg at 37+6 weeks!
I'm definitely not as large as the last two times though.. but I'm at a lower starting weight, so I wonder if I'm just carrying differently. I can still fit in my jeans and everything and I'm 17 weeks! :o
clementine / 973 posts
@periwinklebee: I’m definitely feeling rather large. I all of a sudden look 25 weeks pregnant. I am embarrassed when people ask me how far along I am, because I look WAY bigger than 15 weeks!
I’m so glad you are feeling less pukey, finally!!
grapefruit / 4466 posts
@jaguar: That's awesome! Last time I actually measured way behind starting third tri - had to go in for a couple of extra ultrasounds to follow up - but turns out it was because DS was in a crazy position with his head between his feet, and not because of any growth restriction!
