@Jessiemuller88: hah, I should not complain about feeling large, given that there is only one in there!

Between feeling big, baby kicks, and the fact that my milk has already turned into colostrum, it's definitely starting to hit me that we're actually having a baby (and sooner rather than later!) I need to start preparing. Stuff is easy since there's hand-me-downs, but we won't have a daycare slot until September (our daycare only accepts new children at the start of the school year), and I have no idea how I'm going to find a temporary nanny for April through August... Last time we went with a daycare where it was easier to get a slot while waiting for the slot at the daycare we wanted, but the quality was not so great...

@periwinklebee: of course you can complain!! Pregnancy is hard no matter how many are in there! I knew I would be bigger, but this is a whole new level of belly already 😂

You are almost half way there! Can you feel baby’s kicks from the outside yet? I’m looking forward to DS being able to feel them move. I’m sorry about your daycare slot. That has to be pretty stressful.

@Jessiemuller88: Yes, I've started to be able to feel it from the outside - I bet you will too soon!

The daycare only has seven infant slots and so it's possible that someone could leave but not super likely. The system of starting in September and following an academic year calendar (also lots of holidays, like spring break, two weeks of summer break, nearly two weeks of Christmas break!) causes a lot of headaches, but we love the center so much that we want to make it work!

    clementine / 973 posts

@periwinklebee: that’s so exciting! Feeling the kicks is my favorite part of pregnancy

I’m sure that is hard. Do you just have to take off during those long breaks? I’m a teacher and always find myself wondering how parents make it work during the holidays and summer. I really hope it works out for you soon, so you don’t have to worry about it.

@periwinklebee: @Jessiemuller88: feeling baby is what I'm really just waiting for. 1) it means I'll be headed out of or out of the first tri and 2) it makes the first tri worth it 😂

So basically I'm counting down out of the first tri.

Eee I can't wait to feel things. At the moment I just feel bloated.

  7. Jessiemuller88

    clementine / 973 posts

@Sams Mom: it really does make it soo worth it! Mine have been wiggle worms the past few days and it’s so reassuring. I counted the days to the second tri too!

@jaguar: I bet you feel her soon!!!

  8. jaguar

    pomegranate / 3764 posts

@Jessiemuller88: I really hope so. I hate this limbo part, especially going ages between appts you know? Stupid anterior placenta!

  9. periwinklebee

    grapefruit / 4466 posts

@jaguar: I had an anterior placenta last time and feeling movements took forever

@Sams Mom: first trimester is definitely the worst part of pregnancy for me, and movements are the best part. You'll be there soon!

@Jessiemuller88: We kind of cobble together whatever works, a combination of taking time off and trying to make it work for grandparents to visit us then. For his week long break in August, I'm using a babysitter through care@work - really hope that she is good and DS doesn't freak out wanting mama the whole time

  10. Jessiemuller88

    clementine / 973 posts

@jaguar: the limbo is the worst. How long are you going in between appointments now? I’m going every 5 weeks and it seems like forever!

@periwinklebee: got ya! I hope she’s good too. Our parents both live in town, so we have only had to have an “outside” sitter a handful of times, but I know how stressful that can be. I’m sure he will get use to her, if she comes everyday for a week!

I have an appointment with a cardiologist this morning to check on my high pulse and racing heart. FX it’s just all the extra blood flow!

@Jessiemuller88: Good luck gorgeous! Hopefully it's nothing to worry about!

I'm going every 4 weeks for now.. I think it goes to 2-3 weeks from third tri, so just have a few LONG months of waiting in there.

  12. jaguar

@periwinklebee: I thought I felt something the other night but nothing since. Gah so frustrating!

    @Jessiemuller88: good luck lady!

@jaguar: I have 3 months of monthly appointments left 😭 I hate all the waiting. But I do hope that I don't skip straight to weekly appointments for the entire third tri like last time.

@periwinklebee: Ugggh I feel you about childcare and logistics and all that. I've been too sick/tired to really think about it lol. #3 is most likely going to have to go straight to daycare at 12 weeks old... But it's gonna be drop off/pick up and who exactly my mom's taking care of during the afternoons that's gonna be a headache!

  15. Jessiemuller88

    clementine / 973 posts

@jaguar: @Sams Mom: thank you ladies! My EKG was normal, and the doctor said he really thinks it’s probably totally benign and caused from pregnancy BUT he wants to do an ECHO on August 16, to be sure. So I’m relieved for now.

We have our boys’ name! We decided to name him after both of his grandfathers, so he will be Charles Poindexter, and we will call him “Dex”!

    @Jessiemuller88: Aww I love it!

I' super anxious to get my blood test results back and to know the gender! We have NO names so I really need to at least know the gender to focus my energy lol. And hopefully that means I can tell work next week too since I'll be 12 weeks. It's been so annoying to hide the bump and pretend to feel a-okay!

  18. periwinklebee

    grapefruit / 4466 posts

@Jessiemuller88: Love it!!! And so glad the appointment went well!

@graceandjoy: Logistics of 3 sound crazy. If I could start this LO at our current daycare at 12 weeks, I would completely do it.

  19. graceandjoy

    pear / 1565 posts

@periwinklebee: That's our plan so far. But I'm kinda considering a nanny just so it's not one more to drop off/pick up, and pack up stuff for everyday...

  20. periwinklebee

    grapefruit / 4466 posts

@graceandjoy: Yeah, getting out the door and drop offs/pick ups are a pretty big part of my day, even with just one!

  21. graceandjoy

    pear / 1565 posts

@periwinklebee: Now for my 2 it's not SO bad, even though we have to pack both their lunches. I think infant stage is way more annoying b/c of the milk/bottle situation. I still kinda prefer daycare BUT starting to dream about a nanny b/c the nanny would be able to help me throw in a load of laundry, wash the bottles and do at least a little bit of house picking up when baby's napping! But I am super weary of trusting someone in my home alone w/ my baby

  22. periwinklebee

    grapefruit / 4466 posts

@graceandjoy: Yeah, I think it depends on the personality of your kids and the relative quality of nanny to daycare in your area. My LO is super social - adores playing with the other kids all day at daycare - and our daycare is much better quality than most nannies we could realistically find, teachers all have BAs/masters, it has a Reggio curriculum which we love...so it just wouldn't make sense for us, except in the short run when daycare is not available. But if the alternatives and personalities were a bit different, I do think a nanny would make life a lot easier logistically...

When the new baby is born, I think I'm going to make DH fully responsible for his own laundry, to try to lighten the increasing laundry burden 😂 I was seriously wondering to myself last night, how old does DS have to be before he can fold his own laundry, I want to train him young!

  23. graceandjoy

    pear / 1565 posts

@periwinklebee: I gave up on neat. If the girls actually help to put their clothes away, I'm usually very lenient on what what the standard of "folded" is haha! Well, at least for my 4.5 year old, she'd fold but then by the time it's in the drawer it's not and I won't fault her. As long as the clothes are out of sight, I call that a win!

My mom watched DD1 till she was 10 months, and DD2 till she was 6 months. She is increasingly busy (and older) so I don't want to burden her again with #3. So even if we get a nanny it'd only be for the 1st year of #3's life probably... I def prefer what daycare has to offer.

I am drowning in laundry for all of us already... what's one more to add to the chaos?

  26. Jessiemuller88

    clementine / 973 posts

@graceandjoy: @periwinklebee: @jaguar: thank you ladies! I’m excited to be able to call them by name instead of saying boy and girl 💙💗

My school has a daycare for faculty, so my tots will go to work with me until they are 3.5! It’s the same price as the other Daycare Centers in the city, but I feel at peace knowing they will be in the same building.

  27. Jessiemuller88

    clementine / 973 posts

@jaguar: ugh I am the worst at laundry... I’m such a procrastinator and always drowning in it too. DH has luckily always done his own laundry though, so I only have to do mine and DS.

Ok so I woke up this morning and don't feel pregnant AT ALL. Seriously... not at all. I wouldn't know I was pregnant, I don't look pregnant... I'm having a panic moment.

My OB's office are going to get me in in a few hours for a fly by the pants SUPER quick appt but please talk me off the ledge?

  30. Sams Mom

    grapefruit / 4492 posts

@jaguar: you're still early enough bump or no bump fluctuations. Now if you were like 30 weeks and bump disappeared, that would be different. Also, maybe your 2nd tri is finally living up to expectations and your placenta is doing all the hormonal leg work?

  31. helloperidot

    cherry / 236 posts

@jaguar: I'm 16 weeks and don't feel pregnant at all today. I'm losing weight and my bump looks smaller to me. The only reassurance I have right now is that I felt Audrey give a kick earlier.

I'm in a freak out phase because I pinched a nerve in my neck and I'm alternating a heavy cocktail of painkillers, muscle relaxers, and steroids. All have been discussed with my midwife team and all have been approved (did you know ibuprofen is okay in the 2nd trimester???), but I'm still freaked out. The weight loss is minimal and is from being injured and in too much pain to eat. Like...it all makes logical sense, but having experienced loss before, my brain cannot be logical right now.

You're okay. Your baby is okay. I'm okay, and my baby is okay. It's going to be okay.

@helloperidot: that sounds awful hope you feel much better soon.

@jaguar: completely normal, the baby is still itty bitty... Today I happened to flip through some pics of last time I was in third tri, and oy, I was ENORMOUS relative to my size now 😆 And I think not feeling pregnant is the fabled second tri energy burst!

I realized today I have not taken a single bump pic yet, whereas last time I was documenting my bloat at ten weeks... second kid 🤷‍♀️

@Sams Mom: @helloperidot: @Jessiemuller88: @periwinklebee: Thank you so much guys. Baby is still ok! Measured 17+3 and just hanging out WAY back in my uterus, with the giant placenta in front... so he thinks my bump will be minimal until we get to 20+ weeks and it has nowhere else to go. At least baby measures well, I am happy with that! Thanks for making me feel so much better. I'm glad I went in, especially since I wasn't meant to see him until the end of August!!

    clementine / 973 posts

@periwinklebee: I have been told by several people to make sure you document the 2nd, lol. Everyone says you are so busy you forget to. I know this is true because my mom has 1,000 baby pics of my older brother and like 5 of me 🤣
@jaguar: amazing news! I’m glad you went too, so you can relax and just enjoy feeling good!

@Jessiemuller88: I'm the middle of 3 kids. There is like 1 million pictures of my older sister, drastically less of me, and my little sister claims they have more pictures of trees than they do of her. 🤣

    grapefruit / 4466 posts

@Jessiemuller88: @Sams Mom: Yeah, I gotta get on top of this! I've been bad about taking as many pics as I should of DS lately as well. I need to do one of those 365 challenges where you take a pic of your kid every day for a year.... I should commit to that for baby girl's first year...

@jaguar: So glad you're feeling better!

  39. graceandjoy

    pear / 1565 posts

@Sams Mom: Hahaha this is so us with the progression of pictures! DD1 got a DYI newborn shoot, and DD2 got nothing, lol.

@jaguar: Aww I'm so glad they were able to get you in and you have a peace of mind now! It's so hard... When you are sick you just want to be better, but when you're perfectly fine you wonder if something is wrong!

I just downed a BK crossant-wich as breakfast, since it was cheaper to buy 2, I am totally considering eating the other one too....................
