@periwinklebee: I honestly don’t know what they feel like! My stomach does get really tight and sore from time to time but I’m not sure if it’s BH.
grapefruit / 4466 posts
@Jessiemuller88: For me it's a tightening in the lower abdomen that feels like a menstrual cramp - not a really severe one, but still a little uncomfortable. I think it's common for them to feel like mild menstrual cramps, but they can also just be a tightening... drinking water and laying down for me helps to reduce them.

@periwinklebee: Yep, have been for a few weeks. Sometimes a bit uncomfortable but pretty short lived. Everything just goes rock hard!

@periwinklebee: got it! Good to know, thank you. I never had them with DS, well if I did, I was unaware. I had to have a c-section because DS was breech, and when I went for surgery they had me hooked to a machine for HR and contractions. They told me I was having them, but I had no idea I was! I have tons of friends that had them frequently around this time though, so I’m sure it’s totally normal!

@Jessiemuller88: @jaguar: Thanks! I didn't notice them with DS until towards the very end (and not even sure it was BH versus just labor that would start and then fizzle...) They're not painful but definitely uncomfortable, I'm sure I'll get used to it...

@Jessiemuller88: You look so good mama!!
Had our reveal with our families yesterday, and we're having a !
grapefruit / 4466 posts
@graceandjoy: Congrats!!!! Yay, so exciting! I love being a boy mom
How was the gender reveal, what were your daughters' reactions?
pear / 1565 posts
@periwinklebee: It was fun! I got balloons in a box. They were so excited about the surprise but then were over it pretty quickly lol. But it was a fun moment and made for cute pictures! We had our families guess first, and EVERYONE went to the boy side lol. I was like, geez that would've been awkward if it was a girl............
grapefruit / 4466 posts
@graceandjoy: The pics must be amazing! And that's hilarious that they all got it right!
I had DH guess the sex before I told him this time. He said that he was sure it was a boy because he'd seen it on the NT scan (even though I told him you could not tell at that point!) Oops
pear / 1565 posts
@periwinklebee: Hahaha I still can never really tell even from anatomy scans!!
grapefruit / 4466 posts
@graceandjoy: Yeah, with our son at some point during the anatomy scan the tech said "yup, DEFINITELY a boy" and I had absolutely no idea what I was looking at!
clementine / 973 posts
@graceandjoy: thank you, and I’m so excited to hear you are having a boy! Fun, fun, fun! Your reveal sounds super cute
pear / 1565 posts
@periwinklebee: If I remember correctly (since I did have 2 girls), the girl part actually sticks out too, so I always just took the tech's word (or blood results) as I have no clue what I'm looking at either!

Last night was one of those "pregnancy is so glamorous" moments. Started with rib pain - I don't think baby is big enough to be at my ribs yet, and I can only assume she was shoving my stomach into my ribs. Followed by acid reflux, which caused a bunch of puking. And at this point in pregnancy, puking is not great for bladder control
If i'm on hellobee in a year talking about how I can't decide if we should have a third, I need one of you to remind me about all this
pear / 1565 posts
@periwinklebee: Hahaha! Oh man, that was rough! I can't breath lately! And I kept saying too I don't even think I'm that big! I totally discovered stretch marks on my thighs over the weekend. I was spared the 1st two pregnancies, and now all hell breaks loose
grape / 81 posts
@periwinklebee: omg! So can you really tell from the NT scan? The tech told me her guess and my MIL keeps pointing out what she think she saw on the ultrasound photos but I don't want to believe it until the anatomy scan... which I am having TODAY!
We did a reveal cake with my first but thinking about what to do with this one. A box with balloons would be fun for my 2 year old and our niece and nephew to open.
grapefruit / 4466 posts
@honey786: So exciting that you have your anatomy scan today! I'm sure the kids would love balloons for a reveal!
@graceandjoy: I feel like I escaped last pregnancy relatively "unscathed". No stretch marks, with bf my set weight actually seemed to be below what it has been for most of my adult life (or maybe it was a loss of muscle mass due to less exercising ), but basically, after awhile postpartum I felt physically completely like my old self. Not sure I'll escape so unscathed this time. If pregnancy doesn't do me in, I'm sure 2 under 2 will!
pear / 1565 posts
@honey786: Yes! We just did balloons on Sunday and it was fun! And not scary like popping stuff for the kids!
@periwinklebee: I think for me is aging too lol. I think with each kid I am just not regenerating as fast or as much anymore lol.
pear / 1565 posts
@periwinklebee: I realized I spent all my 30's so far having kids. Had my 1st a month after I turned 30. And when I give birth to #3 I'll be 35. And then I'll be 40 by the time #3 is 5 Hopefully my 40's will be more relaxing... LOL!
grapefruit / 4466 posts
@graceandjoy: being a parent to teenagers intimidates me. So I'm not going to even think about my forties!
For those of you with older kids, what are your plans for childcare while in labor/at the hospital? I need to line up babysitters in case the baby comes early. But with a Dec 27 due date - when the babysitters (in our area, mostly students) will be on vacation and daycare closed - I think the only way we'll be able to cover it is to have MIL come visit. It did not go well last time - she didn't respect our basic wishes (i.e. kept taking flash photos of the baby when we told her not to and taking selfies while holding the baby, which meant she wasn't supporting him properly) and fought non-stop with DH; they don't get on well in general. But I'm not sure there's an alternative...
pear / 1565 posts
@periwinklebee: Uggh I am sorry your MIL is not the best option! You might also go early so maybe just before daycare closes for the holiday.
Last time worked out great; I didn't go to the hospital till noon-ish, so DD1 was at school. Grandma picked her up as usual and she had dinner with my parents and grandma put her to bed. I gave birth around 9pm and DH went home around midnight so my parents could go home and he could wake up with DD1.
So same thing this time, just depends on the day/time how it works out.
grapefruit / 4466 posts
@graceandjoy: That sounds like it worked out really well! I went over 41 weeks with DS so I've been just implicitly assuming I won't go early this time, but of course it's possible. It would be ideal to have the baby right before Christmas because DH has the week between Christmas and New Year's off, which would be a major extension to his really short paternity leave. Of course, a little extra 1-1 time with DS during the daycare break (which is nearly two weeks) could also be nice - I'm feeling super sentimental lately about losing our 1-on-1 time and just really treasuring the time I get to spend with just us...
pear / 1565 posts
@periwinklebee: It's def just so hard to predict. I was off by a year! She was due in Jan '17 and came Dec '16 haha! I had NOTHING ready as I was counting on doing most of the things over Christmas....... That clearly did not get to happen as she came 12/20. And I def was thinking about the last Christmas/New Years w/ DD1... Well.. That didn't happen either
grapefruit / 4466 posts
@graceandjoy: Did your oldest daughter come early/late/on time?
Thankfully I don't have too much of a preference as long as they are full term. I was actually relieved when DS came quite late because I was (of course) behind on finishing some essential work stuff that needed to get wrapped up before mat leave

@periwinklebee: we don't have family nearby, which complicates things. Last time my FIL came out and stayed for a week. It was stressful because I went late and they wouldn't do an induction until 41w, so he had to change his return flight to by a few days. It went fine, I guess. We had issues at the end but a lot of that was crazy new orn days and he's just a difficult person.
We are hoping this time that I'll get to schedule an induction on my due date, if necessary, and we would like to fly my SIL out to stay with the girls while I have baby.
grapefruit / 4466 posts
@helloperidot: I hope things work with scheduling the induction and SIL!!! Difficult family members Grateful for their helpful, but it does not reduce stress at what is already a pretty stressful time!
pear / 1565 posts
@periwinklebee: My oldest was induced at 39 weeks; she would've been late probably without the induction. This time, as long as there's no snow storm when I need to go to the hospital, I'm good!
grapefruit / 4466 posts
@graceandjoy: I don't even want to think about the possibility of a snow storm Fortunately dodged that bullet with my January birthday DS. With him my labor was four hours from "maybe this is a real contraction" to baby in arms, and I know the second kid tends to come faster. So really hoping it is not a huge pain to get to the hospital!!!

Had a reassurance ultrasound for baby girl today. Nothing alarming going on, but between managing pain for my stupid neck/shoulder and not sleeping well, I was getting concerned. I've also lost about 8lbs. Anyway, she's growing just great! Measuring right on track at 17w, heartbeat nice and strong. The nurse was so sweet and let me look at baby girl for a nice long time, and then printed 4 great photos for me. I saw lots and lots of movement, too. I feel a lot better now, even with still managing this stupid injury.

hi guys! sorry for being quiet, time just disappeared on me this week. Had our big scan yesterday and baby girl seems happy in there, squished behind my giant placenta, haha. It's so odd seeing her flip around, upside down, up and back... and not feel anything. It SUCKS to be frank!
She also refused to get in the right position for a cute picture, so this was the best we could get. More importantly, it looked like everything was working properly - I'll talk about it more with the OB next week I guess.
19 weeks! Halfway really!

@helloperidot: Glad all is ok!
@periwinklebee: Hoping in laws can help. It'll be school holidays here so I'll need BOTH girls watched.

@helloperidot: @jaguar: I’m so happy you both had wonderful ultrasounds! What a relief! My anatomy scan is next Wednesday, and I’m so excited to see the little beans again!
For all you mommas feeling movement... I’m 18 weeks tomorrow, and I haven’t felt a lot of movement this week. Last week I felt them multiple times a day, and I haven’t felt much of anything the past two days. Is this normal?
pear / 1565 posts
@helloperidot: I'm glad you got to see her and have the reassurance!
@jaguar: Yay! Glad she is doing great and hope you start feeling all the movements soon!
grapefruit / 4466 posts
@Jessiemuller88: My doctor is very explicit that they don't expect you to detect regular movements until 24 weeks, and do not recommend monitoring movements until that point because it is not a reliable indicator of anything. For some women regular movement happens earlier, but not always, just depending on the placenta and position of the baby.
@helloperidot: So glad that everything looks good with the baby, and I really hope your neck heals quickly, that sounds awful
@jaguar: Before you know it baby girl will be keeping you up all night attacking your cervix and ribs and what not So glad the scan went well, and hope you feel more movements soon!

Anatomy scan went well! Baby is so cute. Waving and flipping around a lot. I had a snack beforehand so it was probably enjoying it.
I found out that I have anterior placenta so I may feel less movement. Although I do feel it on and off.
I am 20 weeks today officially!! Heartburn has officially begun and I started to feel sick/nauseous in the middle of the night sometimes.
We haven't told family yet, but it's official - we are having a boy! Its so crazy, we will have one of each (we have a 2yo girl). And it will be a whole new world for me with this one ha ha. Send tips!

@honey786: Congratulations on your little boy!
We really need to make a due date list and baby gender list (if we're finding out, of course!)
