I got dressed this morning, went to sit down to put my socks and shoes on. Couldn't sit down comfortably in my pants. 🤦♀️
13 weeks tomorrow and maternity clothes it is.

Yep... I retired button up pants last week. Not bad for halfway! Tights from this point on, hahaha.

So part of my blood work came back concerning. I apparently am really low on some kind of protein that makes me at risk for pre-e & growth issues for the baby OB said many people end up being totally fine but I'll def need extra scans/monitoring.
I thought I wasn't really worried since there's really nothing I can do, but I could barely sleep last night!
grapefruit / 4492 posts
@graceandjoy: I haven't had that exact complication, but with my son I did have issues that required extra scans and tests weekly. Knowing that there was nothing I could do and nothing I did helped me remain calm and take it as it came.
It was stressful at first because I googled all the things, and went through a lot of scenarios of what if in my head... But, once I worked through those, I took it as an extra opportunity to see baby, knowing that with extra monitoring if something came up, they'd get him out if it came down to it.
Also having a lot of faith in my doctor and his staff helped a ton. I don't think I would have taken it as well if I had problems with my doctor.
It sucks, it's scary, but as long as you're in good, competent hands; all will be well.

@Sams Mom: Yeah I think the freak out part of me is what I was always fearing a little; that I have 2 healthy girls and could I be so lucky again. I know it's totally irrational! The logical side of me is like what you're saying; there's nothing I can do so I am not even googling about anything.
grapefruit / 4466 posts
@graceandjoy: I'm sorry
I think with blood stuff it can be really hard to tell, because it could just be that the proteins you have are more effective - so you don't need as many of them - or could be a genuine risk factor.
I had super low platelets last time (and probably will this time). Could not have an epidural, would have had to be put under with very limited pain medication options if a c-section was required, had to deliver at a big hospital that could do an emergency platelet transplant and equipped to deal with hemorrhaging. But in the end I barely bled at all. I've also had (non-pregnancy) related issues with very low white blood cell counts in the past. Doctor sent me to a specialist after a routine blood check because he thought it was a marker for leukemia, but after a zillion tests the hematologist concluded I just don't need as many wbc because the ones I have do their job fine and your body isn't going to produce extra stuff it doesn't need...
I hope the extra monitoring will help with peace of mind and won't be too burdensome...

@periwinklebee: That is so crazy, but better safe than sorry right?! It's weird that I didn't have this the last 2 pregnancy. I'm just trying not to think about it but I'm def anxious for the big 20 week scan now!
grapefruit / 4466 posts
@graceandjoy:
i hope the time flies by between now and your scan!
Whatever the protein is I'm pretty sure my doctor doesn't test - all I was tested for were STDs and a simple WBC/RBC/platelet count. Wonder if your doctor even tested for it before you were AMA?
pear / 1565 posts
@periwinklebee: True, who knows! I just know I'm constantly getting blood drawn
grapefruit / 4466 posts
@graceandjoy: I had to get so many hcg draws after a partial molar pregnancy (to monitor risk for abnormal growths) - I had to wear long sleeves or my colleagues would have thought I had an addiction problem, ugh... Thank goodness now it's pretty minimal. @12 weeks and then again a few times in third tri if my platelets need to be monitored....

@Sams Mom: @jaguar: hell yes to all the stretchy pants!
@graceandjoy: I’m sorry you are worried! Your OB said plenty of people end up being fine, so I would focus on that. Try to not stress, and I’m sending positive thoughts your way momma
pomegranate / 3764 posts
@graceandjoy: Was that PAPP-A? I had that issue with both my girls. We never bothered testing for it this time, because of Harmony. I grew mammoth babies, so it didn't really ring true for me. BUT they do just give an extra scan or two in the third tri from memory. Big hugs xx

Has anyone's bump kind of .. changed shape? I was huge last week and this week it's gone back to more compact again. So weird!
clementine / 973 posts
@jaguar: you look SO cute! Mine still looks way smaller in the morning than the afternoon.

@jaguar: Mine changes depending on whether I just ate or not
And yes, it's the PAPP-A! And I also just realized I did have this with my last pregnancy as well, so I'm gonna double check with my OB that she knows that, and obviously she was okay!

I teach Kindergarten, and today I slipped on some water, spilled by a student, and fell pretty hard. I was able to brace most of my fall with my palm and hip, but my belly felt super strained afterwards. Luckily my doctor was able to get me in right away. They scanned the babes, and all was well. I was SO worried though, and now I’m super sore
pomegranate / 3764 posts
@Jessiemuller88: Yeah it definitely expands by nighttime. It's just so weird to have people be like... er, where'd the belly go? I'm all.. no idea. Burger?
@graceandjoy: I take PAPP-A with a grain of salt, I really do. We aren't all the same so our hormone levels will vary. As long as they're monitoring you and bub, you're golden!
@Jessiemuller88: Oh babe! You poor thing! Try and put your feet up and take it easy mumma!
grapefruit / 4466 posts
@Jessiemuller88: Ugh, I'm so sorry Hope the soreness improves soon...
@jaguar: You look fantastic! At 23 weeks I feel like I'm just getting to the "big all the time" phase of pregnancy
pomegranate / 3764 posts
@periwinklebee: I know I'm gaining, just trying to not be paranoid about being too big or too small. Sometimes it's such a paranoia of mine!
clementine / 973 posts
@jaguar: same here, it’s definitely on my mind too. I’m afraid of how big I’m going to get with these two.
clementine / 973 posts
I feel so big and uncomfortable already, and still have 17 weeks to go!! I don’t know how I’m going to make it ladies.
In other news, I’m pretty excited because the hubs scored a used double Bob on a neighborhood resale site for $50 yesterday!!!
grapefruit / 4492 posts
@Jessiemuller88: so is 17 weeks to 40? Or is it 17 weeks to twin term (I'm guessing they anticipate less than 40)
clementine / 973 posts
@Sams Mom: it’s 17 weeks until I’m 37 weeks, which my OB considers twin term. I’m hoping I make it that far! The date is Dec. 27th.
grape / 81 posts
@Jessiemuller88: Oh no! I hope you feel better. I always like to go to the chiropractor to help me feel better especially if I fall or tweak something (if you're into that type of treatment).
I started feeling that fun painful burning/stretching at the end of my sternum/ribs aka top of bump. I already feel huge and only 22 wks along. Have to blame it on being a second pregnancy and not as strict with my nutrition prior to pregnancy.
grapefruit / 4466 posts
@honey786: @Jessiemuller88: First trimester symptoms (i.e. nausea and vomiting) didn't subside until 20 weeks, and now the third tri symptoms are starting up (woke up twice to pee and once with horrible ankle cramps last night, ugh). The second tri honeymoon period has been brief, but right now I feel pretty decent still so can't really complain.
@Jessiemuller88: I can't even imagine twins - I hope the next seventeen weeks sail by quickly! How is work going?
clementine / 973 posts
@honey786: thanks, I might try that! I have the same burning/stretching in my ribs too, it sucks!
@periwinklebee: Pregnancy is ROUGH, but I’m glad you feel decent at the moment. I feel so bad complaining because I wanted these babies SO badly, but I just feel like crap all the time!
Work is low stress mentally, but it’s so exhausting physically. 19 kindergarteners leave me feeling completely wiped. I’m lucky I have a co-teacher though, so I rest while she teaches.
grapefruit / 4466 posts
@Jessiemuller88: You have every right to complain - just because you really want something doesn't mean it isn't HARD. You're doing awesome, and should take advantage of this opportunity to complain away, as no one is going to begrudge you for complaining about being pregnant with twins I love my toddler to death, but he complete EXHAUSTS me, I can't imagine chasing 19 five year olds around all day while pregnant, let alone while pregnant x 2!
grape / 81 posts
@periwinklebee: oh yeah, I am with you on the frequent night waking to pee. In addition to some 4am insomnia. Isn't this fun!
And yes to what @PERIWINKLEBEE said, @JESSIEMULLER88 you have every right to complain! You're creating two humans. Take it easy, its hard work!!
grapefruit / 4466 posts
@honey786: hah hah, last night I did better with waking up to pee, but then my toddler woke up in the middle of the night and it took two hours to get him back down, with way too much crying (he's always been like this, once he's up he's up, which is why we coslept for the first year, hope baby girl doesn't inherit this tendency )
clementine / 973 posts
@periwinklebee: @honey786: thank you for your encouragement ladies. It feels good to hear I have the right to complain a little!

@Jessiemuller88: Being pregnant with twins entitles you to ALL the venting you need. We got your back!
clementine / 973 posts
@jaguar: I love all you Hellobee ladies so much! How are you doing?
@periwinklebee: we coslept for the first year with my son too. He nursed at night for 15 months, so it was just easier. He still will randomly wake up at like 3 in the morning and come get in our bed 🙄 I hope the twins are better sleepers!!! Our queen bed can’t fit 5 humans
pomegranate / 3764 posts
@Jessiemuller88: Really good here. Finally getting some baby girl movements and thrilled about that. Belly exploding finally too, feel huge! But otherwise just really happy!
clementine / 973 posts
@jaguar: yay for baby kicks! I’m feeling them more too! I also have two anterior placentas, so up until the past week or so, I only felt flutters really. I’m glad you are feeling happy
pear / 1565 posts
@periwinklebee: I am team co-sleeping! We plan to co-sleep with DS3. We actually co-slept with both girls separately, then together for the past 2 years and it has been great! We JUST moved them into their own room in a bunk bed and it's been soooo hard transitioning with DD2 especially, because she has pretty much been attached to me since birth. But we're trying to get the ball rolling now rather than later!
grapefruit / 4466 posts
@jaguar: So glad you are feeling good!
@Jessiemuller88: I would also give a resounding no to five in the bed! @graceandjoy: co-sleeping for the first year worked really well for us, now I couldn't imagine it... I'm planning to co-sleep with the baby at the beginning in what will be DS's big boy room. Eventually will move DS into the big boy room, DD into the nursery, and I will go back to the master... And then yeah, DS will probably end up in bed with us
grape / 81 posts
We coslept with DS in a dockatot between us in our king bed for 6 months before moving her to her room/crib. It worked great and we are blessed she is a rockstar sleeper (I am talking 12 hour nights currently). My Hubs is not into this idea again, since he has had back issues and wants to take up more space than he was able to when we coslept. Hoping that changes, otherwise I have my eye out for a bassinet or side crib that I can put baby and dockatot next to me.

24 weeks here and yesterday I got my first "you must be due any day" comment When I told my husband his response was "is this going to be a big baby." No, the person who said that just needs to shut up.
My 19 month old has been teething and adjusting to a new class at daycare. As a result he's been struggling to fall asleep and just wants to breastfeed non-stop. Like, starting at 7:45 until he's finally fallen asleep after 10 a couple of nights this week. Taking him off leads to unconsolable hysteria. It reminds me just how much I don't enjoy the cluster feeding stage, even though I've enjoyed bf more generally. The newborn cuddles are amazing, but the non-stop nature of it can be relentless...
clementine / 973 posts
@periwinklebee: I really will never understand why people feel the need to make such comments. It’s so rude. I have been getting a lot of “I can’t imagine...” or “you caught up fast” when people find out I’m having twins. Ugh, just say congrats, assholes.
Sorry about the non stop feedings. I remember those days. I can’t imagine doing it pregnant though. You are a super momma!
