July 2013 Due Dates!

So how is everyone doing/feeling? I just got back from a nice little mini vacation in Florida. We got the all clear to fly after a great ultrasound (the tech switched to 3D so we could see his little face... cue me bursting into tears!! How cool!!)

While we were flying home, it really hit me that in about 9 weeks he will be here! That realization made me jump into action about buying some stuff for his nursery.

@Bookworm: I'm trying not to worry about how much stuff we need until after my shower in about 2 weeks. I am a registry stalker (can't help it) and I was super excited to see that someone bought our travel system! We still have a lot to get though, including a pack n play (which is where I plan to have him sleep in our room) and bibs, bottles, swaddles, nursing cover, Moby, etc etc.

@Pepper: Congrats on a great u/s! So glad you got to go away for a break - did you have a nice time? Wow - 9 weeks!! That's not long is it?!! I've still got 13 weeks, which sounds a little longer so I'm not panicking yet!

I finally reached the 3rd trimester today! Yay!! So I'm feeling very happy today!

@Cherrybee: I'm late in July like you-- nice to finally be in the third trimester! I always feel behind everyone else on this thread

    @Cherrybee: @Foodnerd81: Congrats on 3rd trimester!

I always feel very ahead of everyone on here, haha. I am borderline... he could easily come in late June!

  5. Foodnerd81

    wonderful cherry / 21504 posts

@Pepper: Yup, this one could easily come in August. In fact, I'm pretty much assuming he or she will, since I think it's easier to expect that and be pleasantly surprised if it's a few days earlier. My grandmother's birthday is Aug 1, and if it's a girl, her middle name will be after her, so... Aug 1 sounds good. Plus I like peridot birthstones!

@Pepper: The doctor told me last visit that they may have miscalculated my due date. Baby could be due June 27th. So, I'm right there with you!

  7. Pepper

@Foodnerd81: That sounds like a win win to me

@rahlyrah: We're super close then! If baby doesn't turn from his breech position, I could end up with a c section... which would put me right around that date too.

    @Foodnerd81: @Cherrybee: Yay 3rd trimester!!

I'll be 30 weeks this Sunday. Holy cow. One May hit yesterday it really started to sink in that this is happening soon! We have our shower on Saturday, and I'm happy to say that I am no longer freaking out about paying for stuff, because I have been registry stalking and someone bought us the travel system I wanted! YAY!!!! I'm so excited to play with it!

I also think she's starting to flip in crazy positions. My sciatica stopped hurting and my belly shrunk, so I think she might (??) be head-down now... but then last night she felt sideways again. She's so antsy now and I feel like she has no room!

Have many of you decided on a name yet? I'm 30 weeks now and I'm starting to stress out because we're having trouble picking a name. We have a few that have been at the top of our list for a while now, but I'm not sure yet if any of those are "the one". I'm not good with decisions, and this seems to be such a huge one! Lately, I've just avoided the subject with DH although I'm starting to think we need to sit down and seriously discuss it soon.

  10. Cherrybee

    papaya / 10570 posts

@cranberry: We have a very strong contender in the name department and I'm totally thinking of my little girl as "Elliott May" now when she kicks. I am waiting for my DH to change his mind though!!! There's plenty of time to pick a name yet - some people decide in the hospital!!

@Bookworm: I'm so glad you got your stroller!!! I bet you can't wait for your shower now!!! Have you got an outfit picked out?

  11. Foodnerd81

    wonderful cherry / 21504 posts

@cranberry: We agreed on a girl name really easily, which was surprising. We have one front runner for a boy but I'm not 100% on it, but we haven't come up with anything we like more. So, I'd say the girl name is 99% and the boy name, like, 70% sure. Still not sure of a boy middle name yet, but that would be easier.

@cranberry: We've had a named picked since pretty early on. I was surprised how easy it was for us... I was expecting to be debating it for awhile.

@Cherrybee: Oh my gosh seriously, I am so much more excited now. It's a huge stress off my back and I can't wait to thank whoever got it! I did get an outfit!! I was at a store looking for maternity tanks when I saw a really cute, not my usual style pink dress that *wasn't* maternity. DH made me try it on and what do you know, it actually looks really cute! I'll definitely post pics after the shower! I'm even getting my toes done and my hair styled for the occasion because I have a gift card to a spa! SO excited

@cranberry: Yes, we got ours a while back and it stuck, thank goodness. She's going to be Gwendolyn *my maiden name* *our last name* Picking names was crazy hard, and if LO was going to be a boy, there is no way we'd have it picked by now!

Anyone else finding that they're getting more tired in the third trimester? It's a struggle to keep my eyes open at work!

  15. cranberry

    apricot / 305 posts

@Pepper: I'm more tired than I was in the 2nd trimester, but not nearly as tired as I was in the 1st trimester (at least not yet). In the 1st trimester I wanted to go to sleep as soon as I got home from work. Right now the tiredness isn't hitting me until early evening so staying awake at work hasn't been a problem lately.

@Cherrybee: @Foodnerd81: @Pepper: @Bookworm: That's great that you've either picked a name, or are pretty close to it. I'm just a little jealous, lol. I'm glad we know we're having a girl though- I'm not sure if I could pick out a boy name and a girl name at this rate!

@cranberry: We are naming him Brady Paul.

@Pepper: Oh my gosh, yes! My energy has dropped drastically. I also run out breath for no apparent reason and have reached the stage where I'm always hot. Lol. So glamorous!

  19. Pepper

    pomelo / 5820 posts

@Bookworm: Ugh I'm starving all the time too! And all I want are things that are bad for me.

@rahlyrah: I hear ya on the shortness of breath! My husband calls me "turtle" haha. I used to walk so fast, now I just lumber along. My hips ache if I try to move too quickly! 9 weeks left, I don't think it's going to get much better!

  20. Cherrybee

@rahlyrah: Thank you!! I love it, too! I think it's the name of an independent, confident woman - and that's what I hope for my little girl's future.

@Pepper: I'm at 27+1 now so only just into the 3rd Tri but I've been feeling increasingly tired since about 24 weeks. I'm in bed by 9pm most nights now!!! I'm not so big that I'm uncomfortable yet though so that's a blessing!

@Bookworm: Your outfit sounds lovely! I can't wait to see pics. I love pink!

@Pepper: I only seem to want things that are bad for me too. Right now it's taking all of my willpower not to walk to the store near my work to buy chocolate. I may still give in...

I think the nesting phase has kicked in, y'all. I reorganized my sock/underwear drawer and the junk drawer in my desk.... neither of which had been cleaned out in over a year.

And really, this insomnia crap is getting so old. I slept 11:30-2:30 and I think 5:30ish-7. :'( I miss sleep!

  24. Foodnerd81

    wonderful cherry / 21504 posts

@Bookworm: I've been sleeping terribly. So of course I've been tired a lot, but I blame it on fitful sleep for nights in a row. I think I also started getting some uncomfortable braxton hicks contractions, or something, because lately my whole belly area has just been really uncomfortable in the evenings. And I still have 13 more weeks!

I think nesting is really kicking in here too. We still have so much stuff left to get and I'm starting to get a little nuts. I finally bought the crib yesterday though! It's in stock in our color at the store, so I paid for it and we can pick it up any time. We are still in the final stages of unpacking from our move (we need to buy new bedroom furniture for us first though) so I'm just getting antsy. Working from home today because I was so uncomfortable all last night and this morning.

So my shower is today, and it has gotten more complicated. My poor sister (I have 20yr old twin sisters who go to the same university I work at) found out yesterday that her very close friend killed himself in a car accident. She is understandably devastated, so she's going to be with her friends today (they have a very tight group). I completely understand, and am so sad she will be missing the shower, and wish I could make her feel better

Then I got a text msg late last night from my Dad last night saying his fiance isn't coming anymore because of 'all that's going on.' I have no idea if she just doesn't want to deal with a bunch of sad people, or she has her own stuff going on, or what, but I'm bummed.

I hate to start the day off with such a bummer post, but I'm just sad for my sister and sad for her friend and trying to figure out how to be excited about my shower without disregarding her feelings and the fact that my family is going to be wrapped up in her stuff today...

Meh. I just needed to vent. I'm sure it will be fine and I'll update y'all later today.

@Bookworm: Aww I'm so sorry to hear about your sister's friend. I hope that you were still able to have a lovely shower in spite of everything that is going on. I know it can be hard to celebrate when other people are so sad. How did it go?

@Bookworm Congrats on your shower! I hope it went well and your sister is doing okay.

I totally agree with what most of yall said about it starting to sink in! Last week I had a really bad day with lots of pain and cramps (I think I overdid it at work the day before). Well, that clicked something in my brain and I started prepping diapers and washing newborn clothes!

I've cleaned out two small drawers in our dresser for her-- one for onesies and the other for hats and accessories. Everything else is hanging in the extra space of my closet. I've only done newborn sizes so far.

Since this is my second, I'm not having a shower, but my friend who's due a week after me is hosting a ladies night for us next month. I'm trying to decide what to wear to that and a wedding on May 25. Right now, I'm all bump but I'm just waiting to wake up one day all swollen.

@Bookworm: I've only just read this - oh no - I hope your sister is ok? I'm sorry about her friend. How was your shower? I hope it was nice despite the awful news - it must be so hard for you, after all you've probably looked forward to this day for weeks and now it's here you feel like you shouldn't enjoy it as much as you wanted to.

@Pepper: @Cherrybee: sorry, meant to come post yesterday but I came down with a rotten cold

So anyway, the shower went better than I expected. My sister ended up not coming but my dads fiancee did. It ended up being a lot of fun, despite it all. My sister seems to be holding up pretty well, poor thing. I'll post some pic later, but I'm going to go to bed at watch Netflix for now lol. Thanks for checking in, ladies!

@Bookworm: Glad to hear the shower went better than expected. I hope your sister is doing OK.

I'm starting to feel more prepared, even though we really aren't-- I bought the crib last week, and this weekend I bought the glider, stroller (super fast shipping-- it's already hear!), and a bunch of furniture at Ikea. Now to bring it up the stairs to the apartment and assemble everything...

@Bookworm: Wow, you look beautiful! I love your hair and make up, so classic 50s starlet! The shower looks fantastic, I love Gwen's name on the cake table!! I'm so glad you had fun!

@Foodnerd81: Yay! You bought stuff!! It does make you feel more prepared, doesn't it?

Ugh - I'm feeling dreadful. My hip is really, really playing up. I can barely walk around the supermarket now without looking like a super villian's manservant. Sigh.

@rahlyrah: Good to know about the class! Glad your enjoyed it.

@Bookworm: You look lovely! Looked like a fun shower!

@Cherrybee: You poor thing My hip started acting up a few days ago... my right one. Dr said it's normal.... which doesn't make it hurt any less!

I just had my 32 week appointment! I always have so many questions, I'm sure my dr is tired of me haha. He said he can't tell if the baby is still breech. (OMG it hurts when he tries to feel!) If at my 34 week appointment he is still unable to tell, they'll do an ultrasound at 36 weeks. In other news, I've gained 20 lbs so far, eek!

@Cherrybee: lol (actually, on the train in front of people) at the super villain manservant comment! I was like that a few weeks ago in the grocery store- leaning heavily on the cart. Thankfully it's gotten a lot better- for now! I think it depends where the baby is. And yes I feel much better owning these things! My credit card begs to differ

@Pepper: @Cherrybee: @Foodnerd81: @rahlyrah: Thanks ladies Y'all are good for my self esteem!

Yep, we are using the letters in her room! We have stars on the wall already, so they are perfect! My SIL did all this, and I thought she did a really great job of making it both feminine and nerdy!

In preggo news... I'm pretty sure she keeps flipping between head-down and sideways. SUPER fun! Half the time the entire bottom half of my abdomen feels empty, which is the weirdest feeling and gives me a very lopsided appearance. I'm going to ask my dr tomorrow what the heck she is doin!
