@lauraeabel: Ooh what do those consist of?
Had my 40 week appt today (39w6d actually). Membrane sweep with the midwife. 3cm dilated and 80% effaced. Baby is no longer sunny side up so that's great! Induction scheduled for 41 weeks on Wednesday 7/16 but she doesn't think I'll make it that far....I'm hoping we go into labor naturally before then!

@NorCalWayfarer: coopsmama posted the recipe couple days ago, but it's a couple pages back so here it is again: http://blogs.babycenter.com/life_and_home/jumpstart-your-labor-cookies/
They're basically a spicy ginger snap cookie- pretty tastey, but so far not doing much =(
Exciting to know one way or another you'll have a baby next week!! Hopefully it's sooner rather than later =)

Growth ultrasound tomorrow! Hoping all goes well, I'm getting kind of nervous about it.
Also, got my first two baby gifts, since this is my second girl in 2 years, not really expecting anyone to give me anything. My aunt made me a Lakota star quilt (I have one my great grandma made me when I was born in the same pattern!) and a cousin beaded some newborn shoes and a headband. It was so sweet of them to think of me!

@lauraeabel: I didn't make the cookies because I realized I was out of ginger and haven't had the chance to get to the store. I think, if the cookies were going to do anything, it'd be by stimulating your digestive system which can stimulate other areas down there so it probably wouldn't be an instantaneous result. But either way -- fun to bake cookies to pass the time! I made peanut butter nutella instead yesterday since I was in a baking mood.

@HLK208: How am I staying busy? Well, today I went to the chiropractor where we attempted an inversion to get the baby out of my pelvis so she can re-engage correctly. That was a whole lot of fun, let me tell ya! Also, my sister just got engaged today and is planning a wedding for this August 30th and she told me I am matron of honor so I guess this week will be busy helping with that since all of the details have to come together in a hurry. I guess we're going dress shopping on Friday if I haven't had the baby by then!
@NorCalWayfarer: I'm crossing my fingers you go into labor naturally without an induction, too! Glad to read your update.
@LemonLong: I'm hoping you get amazing news at the growth ultrasound! Those two gifts are incredibly thoughtful and are such nice keepsakes -- especially as they were handmade and relate to your cultural background! So sweet of them.

@runnerd: I know, anytime someone (well, regular posters that is!) disappears from this thread for more than, oh, 12 hours I'm convinced there is a new July baby!

@coopsmama: haha I think that's about my time limit I'm giving people too

@NorCalWayfarer: good luck!!!
@LemonLong: how nice! Hoping all goes well tomorrow.
@coopsmama: omg! How will you go dress shopping at nearly 41 weeks pregnant?! I'm not even leaving the house and I'm 3 weeks behind you! But congrats to your sis!!
I had another 2 hours of contractions that were 3-4 minutes apart. Then went away. I'm dying here!!! If she won't come, I'd love to feel "normal" so I can at least play with LO's and get stuff done.

@NorCalWayfarer: Ah, you're so close now! Hoping baby comes very soon! Thanks for the update

@coopsmama: Wow, that's a fast timeline for wedding planning, sounds fun and stressful at the same time, but congrats to your sister!
@HLK208: That is crazy that the contractions keep stopping on you- not fair!!
@LemonLong: What sweet gifts! Looking forward to hearing about your appt!

@HLK208: Well *I* won't be dress shopping - it's for her gown! At this late date we will have to find something off the rack so hoping that she finds something she likes! But I do hear you about not wanting to leave the house. The weather has been so nice I feel like I need to get C out every day to enjoy it but it's such a pain!
@princessandthebee: Yeah, I guess they wanted a summer wedding after dating for 3 years and the venue opened up for August 30th and so it's either wait until next year or just go for it. It's kinda odd because they basically formalized their plans this week before he officially proposed - very backwards - but he did last night. She's actually marrying DH's brother! It took me awhile to get used to that idea when they first got together but I've come around! Anyway, enough about that.
40+3 today. No contractions and nothing to report. I went into labor with DS naturally at 40+4 so maybe tomorrow will bring some excitement.

@coopsmama: congrats to your sister! I'm hoping for you that by Friday you won't be able to go dress shopping with her, 41 weeks is just too long!!
@hlk208 the contractions starting and stopping like that has to be infuriating, so sorry they won't just keep going for you.
@lemonlong those gifts sound incredibly thoughtful! How did the appointment go?
At my appointment today, the new check has me at 2-3 cm dilated- he said almost three but not quite- 80% effaced, and -1 station, which he said is why I'm so miserable. Cervix is soft, whatever that means. He said it's all good stuff and he doesn't know when I'll go into labor but that when I do all signs point to it being fairly quick.

@coopsmama: Wow, your kids will be double cousins!! This happened in my Dad's family, his mom's sister married the brother of grandpa! I bet that does take some getting used to.
Yea that seems fast but they'll also save money with a short engagement and decisions will be made quickly. As long as they are committed and happy with the decision, I'm sure it'll be wonderful! Sorry for the non-baby talk, I just love weddings!
cantaloupe / 6059 posts
@lauraeabel: You know, at this point - I feel so good, so as long as baby is doing good and is healthy, I kinda would like her to hold off until next Wednesday. Which is WEIRD to admit - but I really want to go dress shopping and DH has to manage that audit on Monday/Tuesday of next week so if she came on Wednesday we could have an entire week with him home.
And now that I've said that, I'm probably guaranteed to go into labor tonight.
@princessandthebee: Well, kinda double cousins. I was actually adopted as a newborn so my sister and I look nothing alike so our kids won't probably be that similar in looks! And yes, wedding talk is so much fun. I had a 5 month engagement and the first thing I told my sister when she came over yesterday to tell me was, "are you sure you want to miss out on months of fun wedding planning?!?" haha!

@lauraeabel: Oh I just saw your update at the end of the post! That's great! Was he able to say if baby had turned anterior or no?
pineapple / 12234 posts
@coopsmama: oh - duh! You said matron of honor so I just figured lol but still, to go out in public sounds exhausting!!

@HLK208: I think I have time to figure out my dress. She said at this late date all bridesmaids will be non-matching so I'll probably find something in August right beforehand!

@coopsmama: well that's great that you're feeling so well, but yeah you may have just anti-jinxed yourself
She's still sunny side up, so I'm trying to rock on the labor ball to see if she'll turn around.

@lauraeabel: What's with our babies and being sunny side up?! So stubborn.

Ugh, no good news to report. Baby has dropped to the 10% percentile. She was 33% at 30 weeks, then 25% at 34, and now 10% at 37. The ultrasound tech even took all the measurements twice to make sure.
The doctor wasn't available to talk with us today, so we are meeting with her tomorrow to go over options. Kind of freaking out since we don't have anyone here to watch my 1.5 year old. My mom wasn't scheduled to come until next week!
I don't know if the doctor is going to recommend an induction right away, do a wait and see with frequent BPPs, or check in to the hospital for more constant monitoring.
Plus, we are getting all the carpet replaced in our house the next few days so everything is all ripped apart and fumey(it was supposed to be done a month ago, but the carpet was back ordered)
Kind of freaking out over here!
kiwi / 714 posts
@LemonLong: sorry you have to wait until tomorrow for more real answers, that must be extremely stressful =( hopefully an immediate induction isn't necessary so you have a bit of time to get everything else settled. Keep us posted about tomorrow!
blogger / persimmon / 1225 posts
@LemonLong: Sorry to hear that and sorry you have to wait to talk to your doc! Sounds like a busy time for you guys, keep us posted!

Not in a good mood today. I'm 37w5d and very far from giving birth it seems No dilation or effacement, just some softening.
My OB thinks she'll be seeing me for my next two appointments. And I'm just so sick of the swelling, my cankles look bigger and hurt more every day but I refuse to stop walking around!
I know things could change at any time but I feel like the 25th is decades away right now. guess I better settle in for the long haul.
Hoping for some good news from one of you guys though!
cantaloupe / 6059 posts
@LemonLong: That's disappointing news. I'm so sorry. Everything sounds so stressful! I hope things got resolved quickly on all fronts - care for your LO, the carpeting, and that you'll know what is the best course of action for baby!
@princessandthebee: The end of pregnancy is a loooong road. I think you deserve to allow yourself to be crabby about it all! You should treat yourself to something this week and live it up a bit!
grapefruit / 4311 posts
@princessandthebee: oh lady I know that feeling exactly!! I was so disappointed at last week's appt when all I got was that I was softening. FX that your goal line ends up being closer than the 25th!
@LemonLong: I'm sorry lady!! I hope you get more news asap. Will be thinking of you and LO!
@HLK208: I can't believe you have had so much contraction action that just ends!!! I'd be at the hospital every time saying it's go time!
grapefruit / 4311 posts
Well 4 days until we go in to start the induction!!!! We are so excited, but I'm pretty scared of failed induction and ending up with c-section. Trying to stay positive though! Day of doctor appts tomorrow - maybe I'll have some dilation! (Definitely not holding my breath though).
And I better not be the next person to have a baby - come on July, show us some action! Haha
blogger / persimmon / 1225 posts
@coopsmama: Ah gotcha, so kinda double cousins! 5 months is still fast but a bit more time to get stuff done! Yes, the end is SO LONG, I'm gonna try and get to a pool on Saturday, that will be nice. It's just getting out makes me feel so heavy!!
@runnerd: Ugh, sorry you aren't dilating yet either! Fingers crossed for a very successful induction!
pineapple / 12234 posts
@runnerd: hoping you're dilated so that the induction will go smoothly!! A lot can change in a week!
kiwi / 714 posts
Started having contractions and spotting at 3am, but very spaced apart. By 9 they'd ramped up to 4 minutes apart. Headed to the hospital. God I hope this isn't a false alarm.
cantaloupe / 6059 posts
@runnerd: I'm hoping that your induction goes perfectly! You never know! I know some people for whom they were no big deal at all - quick and easy breezy! I will be curious to hear how you're progressing after your appt today.
@princessandthebee: A pool would be amazing! It will feel so nice to float in that water. That's a perfect idea for relaxation!
Well it would seem this little one wants to be even later than her brother was! Crazy. I'm slightly crampy today and did have some contractions in bed last night which has been pretty unusual so maybe something will happen eventually! I have a midwife appt today and since I'm 40+4 am going to ask for a check. I will update when I know something!
cantaloupe / 6059 posts
@lauraeabel: Ahhhhh! With your dilation I would say it probably isn't!! That's fantastic news -- keep us posted if you're able, if not we will be waiting for good news and a picture of a sweet newborn!
blogger / persimmon / 1225 posts
@lauraeabel: Very exciting, girl it sounds like you are on your way for real! So pumped for you! can't wait to see baby pics!
@coopsmama: You have such a good attitude about going late, such a good example for me! Well I can't wait to see the results of your cervical check, I'm hoping you have your LO in your arms very soon!!
kiwi / 714 posts
I'm at 5cm, so the nurse is 95% sure they'll be keeping me. Starting to panic a little- I felt so ready but now it feels like it's going so fast!

@lauraeabel: ahhhhhh!! how exciting!!! Will be thinking about you! Can't wait for you to meet your little girl!
cantaloupe / 6059 posts
@lauraeabel: uhhhh yeah they'd better be keeping you!! It's baby day!!
@princessandthebee: Ah you're sweet! But no, I just figure what's best for baby is fine by me and if going late is needed -- I'm here for the long haul. According to the OB that delivered my son, babies born past 40 weeks usually sleep well sooner and don't have as much of a struggle with breastfeeding. That was true for my son. I'm not sure if that's a general rule or if she was just saying that to make me feel better, but I think about that if I get mad about being over due.
