@simplyfelicity: that'll goodness it's eased up! Im feeling much better too- I think 10weeks is the magic number lol. It's failed way back from like 8/10 to 4/10. Totally more manageable

@Candy_nee: Congrats on the new job!

@fuzzypeaches: Ten weeks sounds good to me, I'm almost there!

Thanks for your support this last few days, guys. Hopefully it was an isolated incident. I only took half my nausea meds today to try and make sure I still felt dreadful and mission accomplished, I have felt horrendous all day. It seems to be easing up in the morning but good grief, evenings are a treat (said sarcastically).

Oh and with clothes, I rarely leave the house at the mo so am living in joggy bottoms and leggings. I dread to think what buttons would do to my belly right now, lol.

@fuzzypeaches: I'm dreading telling work too since I didn't go back until July either! So I won't even be back a full year before I'm off again. EEK!

My u/s is on Thursday. I'm dying to know if everything is OK in there. My nausea is easing up too. But my exhaustion is still present! I napped for 3 hours with my son this afternoon haha!

@Candy_nee: I'm with you on the nausea-hunger thing. Tonight I put a frozen lasagna in because I didn't want to cook but that made dinner so late that I got hungry and that triggered nausea. Didn't feel better until an after-dinner bag of popcorn. I need to eat about every two hours; wait for three and I'm feeling sick. Four and it's too late (barf town).

Thanks ladies, I'm really excited about it. @fuzzypeaches: in going to wait as long as I can. I already know I won't qualify for FMLA, but I'm hoping I still get full maternity benefits and my job back!

@simplyfelicity: good to know last night I ate a bowl of McCain fries for dinner.

@cait: yes I am also in charge of dinners (or at least meal planning) for me, DH, and LO. It has been hard. We usually do fresh 20 but I have not had the energy between the pregnancy and this nasty cold I can't shake. So we have done some takeout and are trying to do easy meals (burgers, baked chicken pesto) and I just eat what I can.

There are nights where popcorn for dinner sounds perfect but LO is big enough that I couldn't get away with it. I have toyed with making it after she goes to bed but usually just snack on other carbs.

yay for carbs .. and cheese haha

Ok so here's my silly question.. I have my 11wku/s on Friday and are you supposed to drink a ton of water like you do with later u/s? I really should have asked more questions

  9. travelgirl1

    cantaloupe / 6630 posts

@Mrs. Pickles: if you drink a glass of liquid one hour before you should be fine. Good luck, so exciting!

@QBbride: @Candy_nee: I know me too. I'm thinking maybe in the new year when it gets harder to hide!
@cvbee: @MamaCate: @Reese: we are 100% in take out mode right now.

Anyone started working out again? I just can't do it :s dh is always on my butt about it bc usually we are both really into fitness and I worked out the whole time my last pregnancy. I just feel so blah and unmotivated :s

  11. fuzzypeaches

    clementine / 950 posts

@Mrs. Pickles: yes they told me 2 glasses of water 2 hrs before. It was very uncomfortable haha

  12. Candy_nee

    apricot / 324 posts

@fuzzypeaches: my OB told me no overly strenuous exercise until 15 weeks. I'm taking that as no exercise. Lol

@fuzzypeaches: Heck no! I don't even have the energy to walk my dogs.

@Mrs. Pickles: I have a dating ultrasound tomorrow and they said 4 glasses of water drank at least an hour before

@fuzzypeaches: I've been exercising, and it actually has helped me to feel so much better. I'm not taking any more of my classes or anything, but even just 30 min on the elliptical helps me to feel more energized.
I also mentally don't feel as guilty when I eat an entire box of mac and cheese in a day...it's soooo good though and it's so settling on the stomach.
@Mrs. Pickles: they had me completely empty my bladder for my 7 week scan, and at every ultrasound with DD. I guess everyone does it a little differently?

  16. MamaCate

    pomegranate / 3595 posts

@fuzzypeaches: I was working out until I got this cold and as soon as I get better I plan to go back. I never want to get up and do it but I always feel better afterwards.

Also, I am starting to have a teeny tiny bump but I am bound and determined to stay incognito for the next two weeks. I was all set with bulky sweaters as it is just cooling off here but now it has been in the mid 70s the past 2 days! I think I am still covered with some looser tops but I am looking for cooler weather soon!

I saw my mil over the weekend for LOs birthday and she was commenting on how I seem to have lost weight so that felt like a win!

@fuzzypeaches: This weekend I just worked out for the first time since my BFP! Fatigue had been so intense until then I just couldn't do it, but it's been getting better, so I decided to push myself and go. It honestly made me feel SO much better. I had more energy throughout the day, and then slept better at night! I'd say give it a try if you can even stand the thought of it.

@MamaCate: Yeah, I've always been pretty big on cooking healthy meals so it makes me feel a little guilty when I am really not up to cooking. I was so sick yesterday that cereal was dinner last night. But I'm trying to remind myself that this is only temporary and not beat myself up.

    Hey,

Is anyone seeing a midwife?? There are pretty long waiting lists here and I finally got in. Meeting her tomorrow.

  21. angelachase

    apricot / 306 posts

@Reese: I'm going to a midwife practice. I'm feeling really good about the choice. My midwife was really warm and reassuring. My DH came with me to my first appointment and felt the same way--when we left he said, "I'm really glad you decided to come here."

  22. simplyfelicity

    cantaloupe / 6634 posts

Just had my first OB appointment...too early for the doppler but she assured us that everything is probably still ok. She nearly scolded us for getting pregnant so soon until she saw that we had a successful ultrasound. Oh, and I have lost 7 lbs since my D&C...makes me wonder how much weight I lost before I became a carb eating fiend who can't muster the energy to exercise.

  23. Mrsk

@Reese: I'm going to my family dr tomorrow get a referral to either the ob clinic or the midwife clinic here. I'm leaning towards midwife. My only hesitation is I want the option for pain meds or an epi but don't want to be discouraged or frowned upon....what are others experiences who have been there? I guess maybe it depends on the midwife??

@fuzzypeaches: the working out is not happening, I need to get up of this couch! Must make it happen! Hard to find the motivation right now tho! At least I'm eating healthier now, no more chicken nuggets and only chicken nuggets!

@Mrs. Pickles: I was told to finish drinking 32oz of water one hour before, but every time I go they tell me I'm over-full, and I'm so uncork forgave, the ultra sound tech said that next time to drink half that, I did the next time as was so much more comfortable, it made the experience much more enjoyable! She said that they say 32 oz because most people are really dehydrated....so maybe go with a glass or two of water one hour before? Is there anyway you can call in the morning and ask?

  24. MamaCate

    pomegranate / 3595 posts

@simplyfelicity: Glad things went ok although it was too early for the Doppler! I still have fingers crossed for you (and all of us).

I am getting increasingly nervous ahead of my first ob appt on Friday and just trying to think positive.

  25. Tidybee

    nectarine / 2834 posts

@simplyfelicity: darn! I have mine a week from today and I was hoping for some reassurance from the Doppler.

  26. simplyfelicity

    cantaloupe / 6634 posts

@Tidybee: I think some OBs might try but mine said they don't attempt until 12 because they don't want the mom to freak out if they can't hear it.

Just got back from my OB appointment, and I'm now in limbo. He said baby is measuring 6 weeks instead of 8, and that there appears to be a spot of blood in the uterus. Not sure what to think now need to have a blood test tomorrow morning, followed by another on saturday, then call his office on Monday to see what the results are. Could be measuring behind or could be an imminent miscarriage, so he said any bleeding to get to the hospital. This is my second pregnancy and I haven't been through a loss before so I'm pretty unsure of whats going on. Waiting time for me

@FannyMae: my fingers are crossed for you. I've had two losses, and they were devastating, but I did get through them. Is there any way your dates could be off? I hope the blood work brings good news.

  29. Reese

    pomegranate / 3521 posts

@FannyMae: I'm sending you positive thoughts hopefully the dates are just off. I have read many threads where the measuring was off and then ended up back on track

@Mrsk: I want an epidural too. My meeting is today, I will let you know how it goes.

@FannyMae: Thinking positive thoughts for you. I hope you get answers soon and you're out of limboland.

@simplyfelicity: Tell your OB no scolding allowed! I hope that the baby was just not cooperating with the doppler today and you'll hear it next time.

@Candy_nee: Congrats on the new job!

  31. Mrsk

    apricot / 287 posts

@Reese: thanks! I'd be intersted to know! I did look up the midwives webpage and they said all options for pain relief were available but often not needed as they suggest other methods of pain relief. So I think I'm going to go for it and book an appointment!

  32. MamaCate

@Reese: I'm seeing a midwife. The same group of midwives (there are 3 in their practice) delivered my son too. They are absolutely amazing. The appointments are super laid back and non-rushed (45 minutes although I'm usually out of there quicker) and their labour support and postpartum support was fabulous. The one midwife was with me for my entire labour (12 hours straight) and they come to your home everyday for the first week to check with breastfeeding, weighing the baby etc. My DH was a bit skeptical at first but he LOVES them now and he's always saying he doesn't know why anyone delivers with a doctor! Hahaha! (Just his personal opinion, obviously there's no problem with delivering with a doctor!!)

@Mrsk: it totally depends on the midwife. I was hoping for a drug-free birth but I was induced and couldn't relax enough to dilate past 4cm. My midwife actually encouraged me to get the epidural (best decision ever!).

@FannyMae: oh no! Waiting is the worst. Sending you tons of positive thoughts. Could your dates be off a bit? I know they're unlikely to be off by 2 weeks, but if they were off by 5-7 days and baby was measuring a bit small (totally normal!) could that explain the difference in measurements? Thinking of you!

  35. simplyfelicity

    cantaloupe / 6634 posts

@Tidybee: @MamaCate: @sweetooth: I should have explained that they didn't even try the doppler because they said they don't do it before 12 weeks so the mom doesn't freak out if they can't hear it.

  36. QBbride

    pomegranate / 3192 posts

@simplyfelicity: my midwife says that too! She won't try before 12 weeks.

  37. simplyfelicity

@FannyMae: I am so sorry. Is there a chance your dates are off? I am hoping and praying that all is well.

@Mrsk: I cannot say enough amazing things. I am SO excited to have a midwife!! She was very attentive and is just an advocate in informed choices - not a preference for one or the other. She came across as very non judgemental, gentle, caring, wise, thoughtful and every other amazing adjective I can think of

    @QBbride: YES!

I have my 12 week ultrasound next Wednesday! I will be one day shy of 12 weeks but I hope that isn't a big deal. I just want to see a little heart beat again to ease my fears. I also want to be able to start telling people!
