@hocuspocus: our last name sounds made up, so I think it sounds like a wrestler or stripper name with our last name. Like Dallas Diamond! Not our last name, but you get the gist!

    @dc yoga bee gotcha

My DH likes the name mylie for a girl and I just can't do that cause of mylie Cyrus and the whole twerking thing lol. super cute name though but I don't think it's going to happen.

@Eko: I went grocery shopping and had a hard time buying even lunch items because only pasta looked good. Well, I picked up a bag of ginger candies from the natural aisle and feel a TON better after eating one! Funny that something small can do so much!

@dc yoga bee: See my above comment! The ginger seemed to help! And I just made breakfast sandwiches to have instead of oatmeal.

@hocuspocus: I like the name Wyatt! DH and I have a whole list of boy names even though if this one is a boy he'll be a junior. We have a short girl list and I think we know what the top/only runner already is!

@LindsayInNY: we already have a boy and girl name picked out already too!

@dc yoga bee: My husband thinks a cool name for a boy is "Rex"...sooo not going to happen!!!

I can't believe some of you already have your names picked out. We won't discuss it until we know the gender, but I have a feeling it's going to take awhile. We didn't settle on Julia's name until the day we left the hospital.

@78h2o: I blame the two years of TTC Gave us plennnnty of time to talk names in passing!

@LindsayInNY: I heard too that people like ginger altoids but I have not been able to find them. Peppermints seem to be helping me out a bit.

We also have names picked out for a boy or girl. Our year+ ttc has helped, but we went the traditional route so it wasn't too difficult.

@78h2o: I have names picked out for both a boy and a girl. But DH doesn't know them! Once we find out the gender, I'll work on making sure he likes my names!

@Mrs.KMM: haha! Yeah, I've been working on my own lists as well. DH mentioned a girl name he likes, but I'm not sure how I feel about it. Hopefully I can sway him to the ones on my list

@Eko: The ginger Altoids are good. I couldn't find them in the store, so I bought a friggin' case off Amazon when pregnant with my daughter. I totally OD'd on ginger though that time around. Now I have such a strong association between ginger and nausea, I want nothing to do with it - ever! I used to eat it with my sushi and now I can't stand it! But it did totally help me for awhile, I just overdid it!

Morning! I had a good NT scan this morning! The baby was wiggling around nonstop, but they were able to get all the measurements they needed and they said he/she looked great - NT measurements were well within the normal range, nasal bone present, ect. Yay! I could totally feel it everytime baby kicked or head butted me, which confirms I haven't been imagining it. Baby did measure 13 weeks - 6 days ahead of my date based on my LMP (which, I'd fibbed and said was 8/25 instead of 8/27 because I had a good idea of when I ovulated). They didn't seem concerned though. My DD always measured a little ahead and is >99th percentile for height, so maybe it is just another tall baby!

I had the worst morning ever. DH got me a new iPod nano for my birthday exactly two weeks ago. I dropped it this morning and cracked the case. And proceeded to cry at the law firm I was at. Twice. Apple can't do anything either. Only option is to replace it aka buy a new one. I'm so mad. And my pants are tight today which doesn't help.

I just had my appointment. I didn't get to see ultrasound pics of the baby, but we saw a heartbeat, so less worry until the next appointment in a month. My OB was surprised that I haven't heard from the genetics lab yet. I called them about my test results. Now more waiting to see if they have the results for me.

@cascademom: that's good you saw/heard the heartbeat! How long ago did you have the genetic test?

  23. cascademom

    coconut / 8861 posts

@78h2o: I had it on November 7th in the afternoon. My OB was a little surprised that I hadn't heard yet. I'm relieved to see the heartbeat, so I'll get LO a big brother shirt. I'm planning on making our Christmas card have LO with the shirt in one of the pictures and then a family one in the other one.

@78h2o: Ugh, seriously. I've been a moody mess lately and always out of nowhere! I snapped when we were out Saturday night with friends and I think the husband suspects something now. I was crying about my iPod at work and blamed it on PMS lol.

I just got the test results back. Negative for everything bad. It's looking like a boy. I'm officially a two time boy mom. At least we have the clothes for him already. I was secretly hoping for a girl, but didn't think realistically that it would happen.

@cascademom: I'm sorry if you are feeling a little disappointed. Hooray for good results though...obviously that's the most important part!!! Who did you call to get the results? Your OB, the Materni21 lab, or the genetic counselors? I think I will call on Friday if I haven't heard anything.

I can't decide whether I am hoping for a boy or a girl. I think I sort of feel like this baby's a girl, so I will be a little shocked if it's a boy. Part of me really really wants a girl so that J can have a sister (as I am super close with mine)...but then, I also think it would be cool to have a boy to have a different experience. My friends tell me that boys are easier than girls. I guess mostly I just want want a healthy baby and will soon get excited about whatever I find out we are having!

What about everyone else? Do you have a preference either way?

  34. LindsayInNY

    bananas / 9229 posts

@78h2o: I've always been convinced that we would have a boy. I guess we'll see though!!

  35. MrsBrewer

    coconut / 8854 posts

@78h2o: You know, I really don't have a preference either way to tell you the truth. I know that DH would much prefer a boy, but I have a gut feeling, and I've had this feeling for the last couple weeks that it's a girl!

  36. 78h2o

    grapefruit / 4441 posts

@MrsBrewer: Last time I thought I was having a boy... so I totally don't trust my gut! But my MIL (who has a boy and girl) swears she knew for sure what she was having each time. My DH wants another girl. I think he's afraid of having a boy because he doesn't perceive himself as super "macho" - he is a triathlete, but never played sports like b-ball or football. He hates hunting, wrestling, etc.... so I think he is afraid he won't be able to relate if we have a boy that's into that stuff. Plus, I think he feels more comfortable showing affection to a girl vs. a boy. So silly. I think he'll get over it though if we have a boy...at least I hope!

  37. cascademom

    coconut / 8861 posts

@78h2o: I was telling my OB today that I would have been shocked if it was a girl. I wasn't too shocked when she said boy. I heard that girls are harder later like tweens and teenagers. Boys get easier around then. I kind of saw myself as a boy mom anyway. It would have been nice to have a girl, but I'm okay with all boys. I don't want three kids, so two boys it is.

Now, I just have to come up with a family naming convention. This one gets my family naming convention since LO got DH's with his middle being his grandparents' last name. I'm thinking that this one's middle name could be my brother's name which was one of the names I put out there for LO. It's actually tough now to come up with another boy name. It was hard the first time too. I have a girl name that I can't use anymore, whatever to that.

ETA: I called the genetic counselor who I worked with in the department.

  38. MrsBrewer

    coconut / 8854 posts

@78h2o: Oh that's funny about not trusting your gut! I really don't care either way truthfully, I would be happy with either!

I'm sure if you're having a boy, you husband will find plenty of things to relate to him with! Even if he isn't into those things now, he might always adapt if that's what your child is really into (regardless if it's a girl or a boy!)

  39. 78h2o

    grapefruit / 4441 posts

@cascademom: It's so exciting that you can pick out a name now! Have you told your husband the news? Your family? Or are you doing a reveal?

Julia's middle name is Catherine, which is my mom's name. If we have another girl, DH wants to use his mom's name for the middle, which I think is fair. So Dana for the middle. Trouble is finding a first name that works with Dana. Maybe Susannah Dana, Elizabeth Dana, or Victoria Dana? ETA: Or maybe Marielle Dana, if I want to try to also honor my grandmother, Mary???? If it's a boy, I really like Andrew, but I don't know if DH will go for it.

@cascademom: I think the genetic counselors only work on Tues and Wed, so I might have to wait the full two weeks. Oh well, I'll live!
