@hocuspocus: Very cute!!!
@Mrs.KMM: yay for maternity jeans! I don't wear jeans on a regular basis (business casual at work, and then sweats at home :-)) but on the weekends, I will probably start wearing maternity pants now for sure.

@Mrs.KMM: Where did you buy your maternity jeans from?
@hocuspocus: Such a cute bump!! I too have given up jeans do to increasing muffin top.

@MrsBrewer: I pretty much live in jeans. Since I work in a research lab, dress is really casual so pre-pregnancy, I wore jeans pretty much every day. I doubt I will even buy maternity dress pants of any sort (that is how infrequently I wear them). If I have to get dressed up more during pregnancy, I'll just go the dress route.

@Eko: My friend who has a 6 month old swore by Gap maternity jeans when she was pregnant (she said they were one of the only maternity clothing items that she thought were worth splurging on) so when they were on good sale recently, I went ahead and bought some. I ended up getting them for ~50% off (and bought 2 pairs).

@Mrs.KMM: Did you buy and over or under belly? You like them so far? I may start looking into maternity jeans. My work is really casual and I can wear jeans everyday.

@Mrs.KMM: @Eko: I wore the underbelly maternity jeans from Old Navy. I haven't cracked them open yet for this pregnancy. I switched to Old Navy years ago after Gap ones didn't fit right for me.

@Eko: I got over belly. Between talking to my friend and looking through some HB polls, that seems to be most people's preference (and many said they stayed up better).
They are still a little loose since all I really have at this point is bloat and not a real belly. So they like to slip down a bit (but I'm sure this will improve as I actually get a belly). But I don't find the band over my belly to be uncomfortable at all.

@lindsayinnyc @mrsbrewer @eko @cascademom thanks ladies
@mrs.kmm I want to buy some maternity jeans but I have such a hard time finding jeans that fit when I'm not pregnant. Everything is always too long on me (I have short legs) do maternity jeans come in short sizes ?
coconut / 8854 posts
@cascademom: Good to know about Old Navy jeans! Plus I bet they're a little cheaper too!
Do all Old Navy's have a maternity section in store? Or is it online only?
coconut / 8861 posts
@MrsBrewer: It depends on the size of the store. If it's a big Old Navy, it would have a maternity section. Even in Chicago, there's a small maternity section in the State Street store. It's not the greatest. I bet the Brown Deer one would have a maternity section. I buy most stuff online because it's cold out and I'm still nauseous, so no shopping trips for me. I may do Target tonight because we need so much stuff before going to the inlaws for Thanksgiving.

@hocuspocus: I know Gap jeans come in Short, Regular, and Long inseams. I don't know about other brands though. But I am also a firm believer in tailoring clothes when needed. Short jeans would be way too short on me but I'll still need to get my regular length jeans hemmed a bit.

@hocuspocus: Cute!! I wonder if Ann Taylor Loft Maternity has petite sizes, since their regular store does? Worth a try.
I've gotten some 2nd hand maternity stuff from ThredUp. One pair of Joe's Jeans, a Gap sweater dress, and another top. Then last night I ordered J Brand leggings and a pair of skinny jeans. With coupons and credits it was pretty cheap. (If you need a referral link, let me know... it gets you $10 off and then another 30 or 40% off, I think, with a coupon).
I need to stop buying and get my maternity stuff back from my friend, but I feel soooo bad asking! I think once I get the genetic results back, I will tell her and ask for at least a few things. I can't wait until she delivers in Feb, unfortunately, or I will go broke.
I've been wearing only maternity for probably 2 weeks now! I did wear regular jeans when my in-laws were visiting last weekend and I was SO uncomfortable!

@78h2o: I've been making the mistake of wearing regular jeans when I get home. When I sit down and read with LO or give him a bath, the waist digs in on the belly-ouch! My maternity jeans feel stretched out. I may go next week with regular jeans and a belly band. Even my regular jeans are falling off of me. I refused to buy new jeans when I lost weight. Now, I've gained weight and a belly. They still don't fit. I can't win!

@cascademom: ugh, that's annoying. At least your weight is down though! I had put on weight right before I got pregnant, so it was already a snug fit. I guess the good thing is that most of the maternity pants I have from my sister (and the ones I got from the thrift store and Thredup) are fitting. Tops are a hot mess though. Not big enough for maternity ones and regular ones are starting to look ridiculous. I actually have on a maternity top today for the first time, but it is babydoll style, not bump-hugging.

@78h2o: Yes. I'm only up about 10 lbs since getting pregnant and going off of Weight Watchers. I'm starting at a better weight this pregnancy. I just need to get my morning sickness in check, then I can go back and eat healthy again. I also gained a ton postpartum. I plan to pump more and stick with WW while breastfeeding this time.

@cascademom: I gained 50+ last time around. I lost about 35-40 right away, but then it took me about a year to lose the rest. Then, I lost about 6-7 more lbs in Feb/March, but then had gained some of that back by the time I got pregnant. So I am starting at about the same weight as I did last time. So far I've done better with weight gain... I think I am up about 3-4 lbs so far. My diet has been pretty good, but I haven't been exercising much (thanks, Unisom). Once I start feeling better, I hope to clean up my diet more and get more exercise in. I have no desire to gain as much as I did last time, though a lot of it was fluid and I don't know how much I can do about that!

For anyone who shops at thredup.com, just fyi, you can keep stuff in your cart for 24 hrs, then your cart gets dumped.

Walked into my 12 week appointment, and had to throw up right when I got there

@dc yoga bee: I'm so sorry. I totally feel your pain. I had to stop the car and throw up in the driveway yesterday morning and then threw up in the sink after dinner. I'm so over it! I hope we both start feeling better soon!!!! Did you have a good appointment?

@Mrs.KMM: @78h2o: Ughhh. Ultrasound was great, I just wish I'd feel better! The baby was jumping!! They were waving their arms, playing, sitting cross legged, it was neat. She said everything looks perfect and normal. The heartbeat was 152bpm, but they couldn't hear it because my uterus is so tilted. I didn't gain any weight since my last appointment two weeks ago, and I'm only up 4lbs total.

@dc yoga bee: great picture!!! Yay!!!
@Mrs.KMM: I hear you on the maternity pants! Switching to them was sweet relief. I much prefer over belly (you can always smush down the elastic part and voila it's underbelly!)
@78H20: I am out of tops to wear as well. Normal shirts look like I've just gained doughnut related weight and maternity tops look ridiculous. I pulled out a few summery tunics (it's in the 30s!) as a last resort.

@dc yoga bee: glad your appointment went well and got to see baby jumping around and waving..hope that you feel better soon!
@LindsayInNY: good luck with your appt today!

With my hot chocolate thread, I realized that I drank straight hot cocoa yesterday with no buffer of milk or powdered milk. I don't think I hurt the baby since it was pretty much a caffeine rush for him. I'm back to hot chocolate with milk or milk of sorts in it.

Has anyone had any fluttering type of feeling? I just started getting them today and I don't know what to make of it. I don't really think it's gas since I have had a gas problem from day 1. Thoughts?
grapefruit / 4770 posts
@Eko: Yes! I feel it at night on my left side. At the ultrasound this morning she showed me how baby was hanging out on the left side. I don't know if it's movement though? I haven't had a gas problem, so I don't think it's gas! I read in one of the apps for 12 weeks that if you press on your belly the baby's reflexes will kick in, and they'll move all around.
I'm really really really feeling like this baby is a boy. I'll be surprised if my intuition is wrong haha. Old wives tales point towards boy as well. Of course, we have no boy names or boy nursery ideas lol.
ETA: I'm feeling the flutters now!
coconut / 8861 posts
@Eko: Yep, I'm feeling flutters way more this pregnancy than last one. If you have good placenta placement (not anterior), there's a strong chance that you're feeling baby.
coconut / 8861 posts
@dc yoga bee: We have a boy name frontrunner since this one will have my family naming convention. DH even said that I could pull the card after delivery of "Well, you did name LO, so this one's yours!" I'm remembering that.
coconut / 8854 posts
@Eko: I don't think so! I wish I felt little flutters!!
@cascademom: hang on a minute, why can't you have hot cocoa?
