@LindsayInNY: My midwife said not to eat carbs before, and the lab told me to fast so I fasted since they were the ones administering the test. I would eat protein if I was going to eat.
@MrsBrewer: the nurse that called me said it could've been what I ate the night before, or that I actually have it. I ate terrible last week so they advised me to eat a more normal diet this week, and walk at least twice this week to get the most accurate results possible. I was really bummed yesterday too. We will have to chat on Saturday, and keep each other company!

@dc yoga bee: Yes definitely!!! I will try and make sure to do a little exercise this week as well! I'm going in at 8AM on Saturday morning, so I'm sure I will be on HB for those 3 hours!! LOL

@MrsBrewer: mine is at 8 am too! The weather is nice here this week, so I'm gonna go walking at lunch for 20min.

@LindsayInNY: My practice didn't care about protein or food so much. It just said not to eat 2 hours before. I've done both of mine in the morning with nothing in my stomach. My DH actually researched the GD test. He says that sleep is a huge factor in passing it. Having more sleep produces less or more (can't remember) insulin. Since my sleep is different with LO, it doesn't surprise me that my numbers were higher this time than last time.

@MrsBrewer: Yeah for placenta moving and head down. My dude still feels like he's head up right now. With LO, I don't think he moved head down until later, so not uncommon for me.

You guys are stressing me out! I just finished the drink and am sitting and waiting. I had eggs and toast for breakfast (maybe I shouldn't have had the toast?) My instructions say eat normally. But I only ate 1.5 hours ago, and my sleep has been crap! Hopefully I pass. They only call with bad news, so hopefully I don't hear from them.

@Jess1483: I hope you pass! My office is no news is good news as well, so I'm hoping I don't hear from them this week. He said if I didn't hear anything for two weeks, not to worry. I had eggs about an hour and a half before the test. So we'll see.

I had my glucose test this AM. The office told me to eat normally, so I had eggs and a thin slice of sweet potato/pumpkin/banana bread that I made over the weekend. My Bradley instructor told us to walk around during the hour wait, so DH and I walked around outside while waiting for the blood draw. My office is also "no news is good news", so hopefully I don't hear from them this week!

@dc yoga bee: @MamaB: I was t allowed to walk around either. They actually strictly told me to remain seated the entire time!

@MamaB: congrats!
I just came down with an awful sinus infection. Pounding headache, sinus grossness, and (oddly enough) a painful jaw. And my toddler is a mess today for no reason other than that I'm struggling. And my husband leaves tomorrow for four days. Might called the doc, but haven't heard back. I don't generally like to take anything while pregnant (even Tylenol), but I won't survive the weekend this way. Okay, done whining.

@MamaB: Congrats!!!
@Jess1483: You could take a Claritin. It was the only thing that got me through a rough week there.

@MamaB: Congratulations!
@Jess1483: Sorry you aren't feeling well! Hopefully you can find something that will help. Sorry, I don't have many suggestions.
Has everyone figured out how long they are working until their due date? My work is pretty flexible in terms of time off and am thinking that taking two weeks off before my due date sounds like a good plan, but really I have no idea.
cherry / 234 posts
@Eko: My plan is to work until I'm 40+2. Although, the girl filling in for me over the summer will start when I'm 40 weeks, so I can train her for a couple of days. I don't expect that I'll go early. Ha! Unless major progress is made the last few weeks of the pregnancy, we are going to stick with that plan.
grapefruit / 4441 posts
@Eko: I was just thinking about this. I can't decide if my last day will be Thursday, May 21st or Thursday, May 28th. I am due Sun, June 1st. I only work Mon, Wed, Thurs (but I work long hours) and Mon the 26th is a holiday (also my b-day, and baby's due date according to ultrasound). I am tempted to just make the 21st my last day and then take off that Wed and Thurs before my due date if I haven't had the baby yet. My mom should be here visiting at that point and it would be nice to do fun things with her before baby arrives. Yeah, leaning towards the 21st! The only thing would be that if baby came 1-2 weeks late, I'd be kind of screwed in terms of when I'd have to go back and when daycare would start, but I really don't feel like I will go that late with Julia having been a little early and baby measuring ahead.
grapefruit / 4441 posts
@MamaB: What if you have the baby before 40 weeks? Can someone else train her? I hadn't made any progress before I went into labor... wasn't dilated, effaced, etc.
bananas / 9229 posts
I plan on working up until whenever I go in labor. If I'm late, I will probably have a stop date of July 3, since I know I can't go much longer beyond that without being induced.

I feel like all of you are making my plans seem silly! lol. I'm mostly intimidated by how uncomfortable I could be at 40w and would I even be doing anything productive? Plus, it's sort of intimidating me about my commuting to and from work if I were to be really uncomfortable since I have to take public transit.
bananas / 9229 posts
@Eko: I think it's personal preference. Any time off before LO comes will eat into my time afterwards, if that makes sense. Unless I use vacation time which I don't want to do either. I'm guessing I won't be the most comfortable but oh well. I'm out of the office a lot and going to different places in NYC so it's a lot of walking and subway-ing.
grapefruit / 4441 posts
@LindsayInNY: I didn't really think about using vacation. Maybe I will try to do that and use vacation my last week and then FMLA as soon as the baby is born. I have about 14 weeks of sick leave/vacation.
@Eko: I don't think your plans are silly! I think it's a good idea to have time to prepare and rest up before baby. Last time, I was REALLY tired of work at the end of my pregnancy (I was uncomfortable, not sleeping well, long-commute, etc.) and fairly eager to go back at the end of maternity leave (didn't want to leave baby, but craved adult interaction, more structure, time to myself)... going back to work felt kind of like a vacation in some ways.
nectarine / 2148 posts
@LindsayInNY: @78h2o: Thanks! Fortunately, work is allowing me to take any extra time I want, so definitely taking 2 weeks comes from knowing that it does not necessarily sacrifice time away LO. It's really tough knowing what to do when I haven't been threw this before. I am talking with work about my leave today so it feels way to definitive.
cherry / 234 posts
@78h2o: I nanny for two little boys. I'm extremely type A, so I'll have everything schedule wise written down, along with our favorite activities and how we discipline. If I were to go early, a grandmother will come down, and I just won't have the time with her. I would just hate to stop early and then go 2 weeks late eating up a chunk of my maternity leave.

@Eko: With my first, I was due Dec. 1, and stopped working right after Thanksgiving (Thanksgiving was the 22nd). Mostly that was for an easy transition for the kids, and because working one more week would have been past my due date. Turns out, I went into labor the Monday when I would have gone into work if I'd continued working, so I didn't actually end up taking any unnecessary time (though I was leaving the job permanently). BUT I will say that even after just the long weekend, I was bored and anxious to get a move-on. I would have preferred continuing to work right until baby was born (and would have been plenty comfortable.)
With this pregnancy, I don't need to decide ahead of time. I job-share with my mom, so when the babe shows up, that's when I'll start my leave.

@Eko: I commuted into work the day before I delivered LO. This pregnancy feels a little harder physically. I woke up crampy this morning and have been resting all since on the couch. I can see this time around working from home once I reach a certain point because I'm already getting uncomfortable.
coconut / 8854 posts
I plan on working up until the day I go to work. I work close to home, it's only a quick 15 minute drive for me. Plus if I go into labor at work, I'm 100% positive one of my coworkers would be happy to drive me home if need be!
Plus I'm an accountant, I have a very non-physically demanding job!

@Eko: I'm planning to work up until I give birth. I intend for it to stay full-time, but if my body is just too worn at that point to do so, I'll drop to some sort of a part-time arrangement.
I'm not going back (going to be a SAHM) so I'm trying to get every last paycheck I can before we lose my income.

Wow you guys move so fast! I am working till I cant anymore. My last day of work is May 18th and my c section is scheduled May22. Fingers crossed they stay put. It has definitely been getting harder and harder. My stomach is so Heavy!

Morning ladies! I'm siting at the doctor's office with 25minutes left of my 3 hour glucose screen. I'm tired of losing my Saturdays for testing and apts, so I used a time off award and came today! It hasn't been that bad waiting for the blood draws, but the drink is way worse. It's 100mg of glucola for the 3 hour as opposed to 50 for the 1 hour . I'm watching pulp fiction. Classic!
I plan to work until my water breaks! My job wants me to go to Vegas at 35 weeks. Yeahhh still figuring that out
grapefruit / 4770 posts
@MrsBrewer: same amount, just more concentrated. That's what made it worse!! Once I finished I started shaking and got light-headed as it had now been 16 hrs since I ate. There was a Cheesecake Factory nearby so I literally ate two baskets of bread before he shaking settled. Figured if I have it I'm gonna have one last good meal!

@dc yoga bee: Ugh, that sounds awful. I hope you pass!
I never heard anything from my OB office and they are "no news is good news", so I guess that means I passed? I wish they would call either way so I would know for sure.
I think I've decided to work until 5/21 and then work the next week from home. My job isn't super conducive to working from home for an extended period of time, but it would work for a few days. If I go past my due date, I think I'm just going to take it off anyway or maybe work from home if I have anything left to do.

Just spent the last 7 hours in our childbirth class! It is kind of crazy thinking about all of these hypotheticals when we truly have no idea how my labor will go and what I'll actually find helpful in the moment.
nectarine / 2148 posts
@Mrs.KMM: I had my labor class today as well! Crazy to think that we are all getting close! There is definitely so many hypotheticals that I practically have no birth plans. I keep saying that with pregnancy I have no control and am just along for the ride.

We've met with our realtor and are working towards getting our condo ready to be sold. We're thinking that moving won't happen until after the baby arrives. My maternity leave policy was changed to 16 weeks as of this month, so it'll make the transitions easier.

Got my results back for the 3 hour diabetes test. I PASSED!!!!!!
coconut / 8854 posts
@dc yoga bee: yay that's awesome!! Did your doctor call you??
I have my results back, but my 1 hr draw was 2 points above the "range" that was given....my other 3 results though were within the range. So I think I passed because the comments sections said as long as 2 or more weren't out of the range. I'm hoping my midwife calls me today to discuss my results.
grapefruit / 4770 posts
@MrsBrewer: They emailed me over the weekend, because they were so surprised all of my numbers were perfect. Thanks for the vote of confidence . My notes say the same thing that as long as two or more aren't above you're normal.
